The reading form the Torah this week, parsha Vayigash (Genesis/Bereshiet chapter 44:17-47:27) picks up at the last, dramatic, "cliff-hangar," in the third reading dealing with the life and times of Yosef (Joseph). And it begins with one of the most dramatic transformations in the Bible, in what Mark Call refers to as "Judah 'Mans Up.' And this is demonstrably the first time in history where one human being forgives another. Judah, the brother who suggested that Joseph be sold into slavery, and then returned lied to his father about what happened, ends up facing almost EXACTLY the same situation, over two decades later, with Joseph's youngest brother. Our guest in this Poised for Exit episode is Ryan Haag, who has been a financial advisor for over 20 years. Ryan has spent his career working with family businesses and a variety of entrepreneurs, learning a great deal about the pitfalls they face as they navigate their lives from start up to retirement. So many of the experiences he's faced with clients mirror those of others. Business owners seem to have a lot of the same problems, the most common of which is answering the question:  "how do I spend my time once my business is sold?"Ryan observed that we're in a time that's unmatched in history, where people have never had more money, but also have never had more stress. "The Prosperity Paradox" they call it. Couple that with statistics on how often a business owner regrets their decision to sell, and you've got a lot of unhappiness on both ends of the spectrum!Owner's need to determine what their ideal vision is for their life in every stage. Where do they see themselves living, traveling, working and feeling fulfilled? Each stage makes up about a third of one's life, so it's pretty important to grapple with each one in advance!  When it comes to retirement (the last third!), Ryan said there are three phases within that period itself: "Go-Go, Slow-Go, and No-Go".  You can imagine what each entails.The world we live in has us drowning in information and starving for wisdom, he said. Bio:Umberta Telfener, health & clinical psychologist, teacher of the Milan systemic family therapy school (Boscolo & Cecchin), actual President of EFTA, former adjunct Professor at the post graduate School of Health Psychology of the University of Roma La Sapienza, she supervises Institutions and Community work and is in private practice since 1980.She is one of the senior systemic professionals and thinkers in Italy.  In the mid '70 she met all the pioneers and since then she teaches systemic thinking in different settings. She had among her direct teachers Heinz von Foerster, Lynn Hoffman, Salvator Minuchin, Jay Haley, Carl Whitaker, Carlos Slusky, Bralio Montalvo, Harry Aponte, Luigi Boscolo e Gianfranco Cecchin.She teaches at the Health Psychology Post Graduate training of the University of Roma La Sapienza, both Epistemology and systemic thinking and Systemic practice and interventions. Ahead of the June 12 1993 election, the Babangida regime created a two-party system, in which only the National Republican Convention party (NRC) and Social Democratic Party (SDP) were allowed to run for office. NRC was meant to represent right-wing views while SDP was meant to represent left-wing views. However, critics have argued that both parties were actually similar, lacked ideological difference and consistency, and were a ploy the Babangida regime engineered to maintain control over Nigeria's democratic transition.
