So red wine does contain some antioxidants, which have reported health benefits. But senior dietitian and British Heart Foundation spokesperson Victoria Taylor says that “while it is often included in the traditional diet, it isn't an essential part and should be drunk in moderation.” So are dry reds the healthiest option then? What about rosé then? In under 3 minutes, we answer your questions! To listen to the last episodes, you can click here: How is micro-feminism helping women combat workplace sexism? In the world of design, some believe there's a one-size-fits-all formula, a magical checklist that, once completed, transforms a project into a masterpiece. However, the reality is far more nuanced. Even when we check all the boxes, there's often an elusive element missing – a unique essence, a special DNA that belongs exclusively to a particular location or experience. My guest in this episode refers to this elusive quality as 'the only.' Meet Victoria Taylor, an experience consultant and designer specializing in hospitality, luxury, travel, and entertainment industries. Her forte lies in crafting experiences that become 'The Only.' Engaged in a variety of distinctive projects, Victoria operates on the premise that no two endeavors are identical. Yet, they all share a common thread – a commitment to placing humans at the core and creating a unique 'The Only' for customers. Join us on this episode as we delve into the secrets, inspirations, and creative processes that transform ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. Discover how Victoria's expertise breathes life into the concept of 'The Only,' reshaping the landscape of experiences in hospitality, luxury, travel, and beyond. Very exciting day for Victoria Taylor. At 4am this morning (September 1, 2022) she will start her attempt to beat the official world record for running the length of NZ, a record that has stood since 1975. To claim the record, she will havew to run about three full marathons every day for 18 days. Just let that sink in for a second....around 126km per day for 18 days! Its a mindblowing thing to attempt. What makes this attempt even more remarkable is she is the mum of a two year old so has done most of her training pushing him in a stroller. She knows what she is in for though, ten years ago when she was 19 she ran the length of NZ in 34 days. KAMCast - Key Account Management Strategies for Business Leaders
IN THIS EPISODEHow much attention are you paying to the customer experience with your Key Accounts? Do you surprise and delight your clients on a regular basis or, have you fallen into the trap of leaving this up to marketing at the front end of the sales cycle? With customers experiencing thousands of ‘moments' every day in all areas of their lives, what are you doing to ensure the moments they share with you, exceed their expectations? For me, the thing about experience is that it is too important to be left to chance. Too important to rely on us simply being good at what we do and going the extra mile from time to time. We need to be intentional. We need to take a step back and examine the moments we share with key customers and identify areas of improvement, ensuring we maximise the chances of being rewarded with long-term loyalty. HIGHLIGHTS OF THIS EPISODE I invited Experience Consultant, Victoria Taylor, to join me on this episode, to dig into this topic. Having worked in a wide variety of industries including bespoke travel, media, and advertising, Victoria now works with her own clients including Warner Entertainment Group, Lamborghini, Disney, P&O Cruises, Experian, and a host of independent hospitality brands. She is on a mission to help them to raise the bar in their customer experiences. In our conversation, you'll hear us talk about: Why Account Managers need to be involved in crafting special moments for key customers (rather than leaving it to the marketing or customer experience team) Flesh out some examples of great customer experience (and what makes it great) The link between the employee experience and the customer experience Creating an EXPERIENCE for your Key AccountsWhat are your thoughts and reflections on the customer experience you currently create for your key accounts? If you were a client of yours, would you be delighted in the moments you shared? Do you personalise your client interactions so that they truly feel special and valued? When the moments you create for your customers are not driven by the brand, they are driven by you! How would you personally score in a customer feedback conversation? With any experience being personal, how often do you proactively seek a conversation to gain feedback for your key contacts, on a mission to clarify their expectations and how you are performing against them? How are you reflecting your brand? Are you a walking, talking ambassador for your company, LIVING its values rather than just laminating them on the wall? Remember that the employee experience and the moments we share with each other will directly affect the moments we share with the customer. To create intentional, well-crafted, brilliant experiences for our customers, we cannot leave it to chance. Take a moment to reflect and ask yourself: what do we do now, and how can we make it better? I'll be exploring this more in upcoming episodes of KAMCast so please do get in touch and let us know your thoughts on this topic and any specific questions you have, which you'd love to see answered in an episode. FIND OUT MORE ABOUT MY GUEST: VICTORIA TAYLORVictoria describes herself as human-centred experience consultant who works with brands to ‘raise the bar' in experience by differentiating themselves through thinking, creating, and ‘doing' customer experience differently. Understanding what experience to give to your customers is one thing, but there's valuable relationships we also have with our staff and suppliers as well. In this podcast Melanie Boylan spoke to Victoria Taylor about her long background in this field and about her upcoming book and future projects. Links t Victoria below: Who is Victoria Taylor? Victoria Taylor is an experience consultant and international speaker, who puts different in experience. Her purpose is to help brands become experience leaders . Victoria get brands to ‘Raise-the-Bar' in experience by thinking different, creating different and doing different. She can consult on audience, employee, customer and brand experience, working with boutique businesses, fortune 100 brands and everything in between. She is a proven customer experience leader who brings together the digital and physical worlds, transforming experience at every moment and interaction someone has with a brand. She tells all her clients this: They need to Make People Matter. Make people matter and your brand will matter to them. "I'm far from finished yet and my mission to Raise-the-Bar in experience continues, one day at a time, one brand at a time, one experience at a time." Victoria Taylor. Book Bio: 'Points Of Entry: Unlocking People Experience' was written with one purpose in mind. To help brands to recognise that every person is important to them. I realised that a lot of the conversation around experience focused on customer experience or, when someone is already a customer of a brand. 'Points Of Entry : Unlocking People Experience' looks at the 'pre-experience' BEFORE someone becomes a customer and it uncovers the potential entry points that a person has into a business. I define a Point of Entry as a place where anyone can gain ‘entry' to your business, gain insight, have a conversation, or experience your brand for the first time if they don't know you, or engage with and experience your business regularly if they do know you. The experience you create at each entry point will either be the beginning of a solid business relationship (for those who don't know you), a great experience (for existing customers and those that do know you) or the end of the road on all counts! Entry points are everywhere and when I counted up my own, I had over 70 of them. It made me realise how many opportunities there were for brands to build great experiences with people who were not yet customers. Experiences at every moment and every interaction. But in order to create an experience, knowledge is crucial. This book helps readers to understand 1.) Why entry points are important for EVERY brand today. 2.) Why 'moments' are key to creating experiences. 3.) How you can apply Entry Point Theory to your business with examples. 4.) How you get started in actioning it. We are all in the experience business first and foremost, second to that comes the product or service we offer, but experience happens long before someone becomes a customer, I hope this book will become the guide to realising the potential of people experience When you Make People Matter, your brand will matter to them. Clientship's Customer Experience Superheroes starts its 7th season with a very important message in the world of accelerated digital dominance - people matter in CX. The message is shared loud and clear by Victoria Taylor of VictoriaTayluk, our first guest of this latest series. Victoria, a CX consultant is in conversation with host, Christopher Brooks on this critical topic. 2020 has seen the demise of the face to to face experience interaction, and a replacement with digital engagements. But this is not through choice its through circumstance. In discussion, Victoria explains why now its more important than ever to be 'upping our game' and delivering a quality human experience when the chance allows us.Victoria also shares details of her latest mini-book, which is available via her website. https://www.victoriatayl.uk. Comedian and actor Diane Morgan chooses the life of Air Chief Marshal Hugh Dowding. Air Chief Marshal Hugh Dowding is best known for his role in the Battle of Britain. He is widely regarded as the architect of Britain's unlikely victory, using an intelligence strategy known as the Dowding System. The Battle of Britain was at the very end of his military career - his nickname by then was "Stuffy" Dowding - and shortly after he was side-lined. But he cared deeply for every one of his pilots, and following his retirement he became focused on what had happened to all his "dear fighter boys" lost in the war. He wrote extensively on the after life and spiritualism - many bereaved families wrote to him seeking answers as a result. He met his second wife after a medium suggested he take her out for lunch having received a communication from her late first husband from beyond the grave. Together they were prominent advocates of spiritualism, and of animal rights, with Dowding giving his maiden speech in the Lords about the need for ethical standards in slaughterhouses. Diane picked up Dowding's book by pure chance through her local book shop during the first lockdown, and has since become fascinated by the life of this man. Together with Dowding's stepson, David Whiting, and historian Victoria Taylor, Diane discusses Dowding's legacy. Is there a paradox between this great military figure's career, and subsequent fascination with spiritualism and ethics - or does it all make perfect sense? Presented by Matthew Parris Produced by Polly Weston

He joined me from his home in Riga to chat to me about performing with the Carion quintet during the pandemic, his musical journey growing up behind the Iron Curtain, how global travel broadens one's musical sound, as well as Latvian voices and music-making. We also talk about his hobbies he indulges in away from playing the clarinet and being director of the Latvian Music Information Centre and SKANi Records. These days we seem to have brief slivers of time in which to enjoy sweet live performances, including my experience of finally performing in a chamber concert recently that was a long time in the making. Victoria Taylor-Gore's surrealistic, luminous paintings are imaginary places at the boundary of twilight and dreams. Seemingly devoid of people, her paintings pull you into their quiet mystery. Her paintings fill your mind with questions: Who opened the motel room door? Who left the suitcase by the neatly made bed? Who is in the car whose lit headlamp spills light through the open door of the motel? Where is this lonely motel? Where did the people go? Have they just arrived? Or, are they getting ready to depart? It appears that the inhabitant of the room has just stepped out of sight. Or, have they? Then you realize that perhaps you are the inhabitant of that room. You've become a part of Victoria’s painting and its mystery. Victoria, who recently retired as the dean of liberal arts at Amarillo College, now devotes herself full-time to creating pastel and mixed-media paintings inspired by her love of film noir, the landscape of the high plains, and Route 66. Her use of exaggerated perspective creates a sense of unease and suspense. The open doors and windows invite movement between intimate interiors and dark, open exteriors – heightening your curiosity as to what lies either beyond or within. Her unique visual vocabulary is beautifully expressed in her evocative paintings of Quiet Surrealism. I recently saw Victoria Taylor-Gore mentioned in Southwest Art magazine article. It was an exciting reminder of a conversation I had with her about ten years ago when I interviewed Victoria in a filmmaking and photography podcast I used to produce. At that time, a revolution in photography and video had appeared seemingly out of nowhere that allowed creators to produce high definition video of stunning cinematic quality with affordable digital DSLR cameras. It was an exciting development that encouraged creative experimentation. Victoria was an early adopter of this new video technology. She began experimenting with making videos using her collection of vintage toy cars, dollhouses, and figurines. Having seen her work, I invited her to be interviewed in that early podcast. In that first conversation, I learned that Victoria was inspired by film noir, surrealist artist Giorgio de Chirico, and filmmaker Alfred Hitchcock. Ten years later that inspiration continues to influence her art. On the night of May 16th, 1943, 19 Lancaster bombers took off from England heading toward the German industrial heartland of the Ruhr. They carried a new bomb, designed to skip across water avoiding any torpedo nets before hitting the target and sinking into the depths; then exploding.. The bomb was codenamed ‘upkeep’, we know it today as the ‘bouncing bomb’ designed by Barnes Wallis. Those Lancaster's of 617 squadron, commanded 24 year old Guy Gibsonwould become known as the ‘Dam Busters’, the operation was CHASTISE. The mission would be a success, as in two of the targeted dams were hit and breached causing millions of tons of water to surge down into the Ruhr region, flooding mines, destroying factories and homes. The crews that survived the raid would arrive back in Britain as celebrities, swept up in the wartime propaganda; and of course memorialised in books such as Paul Brickhill’s ‘The ‘Dam Busters’, of which the well known 1955 film is based. Joining me to discuss the raid is Victoria Taylor. Victoria is a Post Graduate Researcher at the University of Hull. Her MA thesis is Redressing the Wartime and Postwar Mythologization of Operation CHASTISE in Britain. Recommended books about operation Chastise. Cooper, Alan W. The Men Who Breached the Dams. The Birmingham Contemporary Music Group is one of the world's foremost new music ensembles. Earlier this year, I was very pleased to have the opportunity to visit its offices to interview Nancy Evans, the Director of Learning and Participation, and Stephan Meier, the Artistic Director. It was refreshing to talk to them about a wide range of topics within the sphere of new music such as: - what it looks like to teach young people about contemporary classical music, particularly, music composition, and how this translates into institutional and extra-curricular settings. - the challenges and logistics of managing a world-leading new music organisation. - the broader implications of BCMG's work for culture and society, including the idea of a "global village" and facilitating cultural meeting points. Many thanks to: Victoria Taylor and Seb Huckle, the BCMG's Executive Director, for arranging this opportunity. Nancy and Stephan for taking the time out of their busy schedules to talk to me for the podcast. Podcast published on 26 July 2019. Interviews recorded on 29 April 2019 at the CBSO Centre, Birmingham, UK. Find out more about the BCMG at https://www.bcmg.org.uk. Note: Want to see the list of newsletters we like that Manoush mentions in this week's podcast? Find it in the Note to Self newsletter here. Spending just one day offline can make you feel like you missed 100 important stories. As you're trying to stay abreast of the 100 even newer, as-important stories/memes/investigations/cute animal videos... well, it starts to feel like this: Or, you know, this: Luckily, there's someone who devotes hours every day to helping us with that quandary. Caitlin Dewey is the Digital Culture Critic at the Washington Post. In addition to her regular column she also sends out a daily newsletter called "Links I would GChat you if we were friends." It's exactly what it sounds like: a couple dozen hand-picked links of the day's top online stories, curated by someone whose job it is to have her finger on the pulse of the Internet world at all times. In this week's episode, Manoush sits down with Caitlin to talk about the top five digital culture stories from the past year, so that you can end 2015 feeling up to date without having to sift through thousands of old links. 5. The Zola Story A 150-tweet story by Aziah "Zola" Wells trended for two straight days on Twitter (longer than the Paris attacks). If you missed it (or gave up on it), you weren't alone. It was long and twisted – an account of a wild weekend in Florida involving sex work, suicide attempts, and murder. Then, in the following months, both Caitlin and a reporter at Rolling Stone produced reported pieces looking into which aspects of the story were true, why people responded the way they did, and why it all matters. You can check out the original tweets – which have since been deleted – here. 4. The Dress Back in February, it seemed for a moment like a civil war might break out between pretty much everyone on the Internet. In question "The Dress" as blue and black and those who saw it as white and gold. BuzzFeed writer Cate Holderness discovered the meme on Tumblr, and her initial post was so wildly popular that BuzzFeed put two editorial teams on The Dress beat, producing dozens of stories on the topic and garnering tens of millions of page views. (For the record, it was actually blue and black. Supposedly.) Just in case you'd found a really comfortable rock to hide under. (BuzzFeed) 3. This Novel-length Article About Code We know, we know. You heard about Paul Ford's 38,000-word magnum opus on code from this June and you totally had every intention of reading it... except that finding time for a book-length essay on a tricky topic isn't always easy. It's OK – this one is an evergreen. Consider this another opportunity to dig deep into a serious demystification of coding and the tech world that we all interact with every day, but don't always know all that much about. On a plane home for the holidays six months later. 2. The Reddit Revolt Known as the "front page of the internet," Reddit has long been an incredible source of information and evolving news stories – but it's also unfortunately been a place where harassment campaigns take root. That started to change this summer, when Reddit started cracking down on hate speech and harassment. Things really came to a head when the site fired Victoria Taylor, who ran the AMA ("Ask Me Anything") section. Following her termination, Reddit's moderators – unpaid individuals who help run the site's various communities – organized a strike against the site for an entire week. The controversy and its fallout has fueled an ongoing debate about free speech, as well as the question of who benefits when users on sites like Reddit and Facebook effectively donate their labor. 1. The Ashley Madison Hack Online leaks are nothing new. But the Ashley Madison hack was the first high-profile privacy breach that threatened to destroy the relationships, personal lives, and careers of the 37 million people with accounts – most of whom never actually engaged in an extramarital affair, given that there were barely any women using the site at all. Caitlin describes this #1 tech story of the year as a watershed moment for digital privacy – listen to the podcast to hear why. Episode 42 - Featuring Victoria Taylor-Gore, artist, educator, and filmmaker - with host Carl Olson (http://16x9cinema.com) and co-host Chris Fenwick (http://chrisfenwick.com). Victoria Taylor-Gore's pastels have been exhibited professionally for over 20 years with representation in premiere art galleries in Sante Fe and Taos, New Mexico. Victoria continues: "Painting, filmmaking, and photography deal with the same essential design components... composition, light, color, emphasis...it's all part of visual storytelling." In this episode, Chris and I are amazed by Victoria's visual story telling and the clever, experimental approach she takes to accomplish her vision. She clearly has an eye for visual story telling. In this episode Victoria delights us with her narative as to how she "paints as a director" and how film is affecting her pastels in new and exciting ways. You will be inspired by Victoria's new found passion for filmmaking with the Canon 7D.
