Jaxson Dart is entering his third and final full season as the starting quarterback for Ole Miss football. Walker Howard, a former Top 50 recruit and transfer from LSU, is waiting in the wings to replace him. That's the idea, anyway. Underclassmen Austin Simmons and AJ Maddox will have cases to make, too. But Howard is currently penciled in as the clear-cut No. 2. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the transfer portal opening up Monday and the Ole Miss Rebels and Lane Kiffin has put itself in position to fill some needs April 15th-April 30th. Henry Parrish Jr has long been assumed that he will return to Ole Miss to go into a RB room that needs a player to fill that need. But what if Ole Miss is willing to do to the RB what Lane Kiffin did to the QB room a year ago when Jaxson Dart was the assumed starter but Kiffin brought in Spencer Sanders from Oklahoma State Cowboys, Walker Howard from the LSU Tigers and flipped Austin Simmons from the Florida Gators. Would Ole Miss Recruit a Dallan Hayden from the Ohio State Buckeyes or Damien Martinez from the Oregon State Beavers. Transfer Portal opens Monday. In the second segment of the show we talk about the Grove Bowl games and let everyone know about a programming note after the game. Will Lane Kiffin who is furiously trying to create a social following for this game be successful. Will this game tell us anything about Jaxson Dart, Tre Harris or Kedrick Reescano. Likely not and the fan base and Grove Collective members will have to wait a little longer to scratch that itch. In our final segment of the day we talk about an Official Visit has been set up for Corner Canyon, UT Wide Receiver Jerome Myles. If that high sounds familiar that is where Jaxson Dart went to high school. In the age of the Recruiting cycle speeding up you are going to see more Pre Season official visits. The Under Armour Next Commitment is a player that wears Reggie Bush's number and is committed to Reggie Bush's former Offensive Coordinator at the USC Trojans and It doesn't take much of an assumption to think that was a lot of the recruiting process. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the National narrative of the Ole Miss Rebels going all in on the 2024 12 Team College Football playoff and this is the Last Dance for the Ole Miss Rebels and why that Lane Kiffin is building this roster with more staying power than just that.Jaxson Dart will have many different targets like Tre Harris, Juice Wells and Jordan Watkins with Caden Prieskorn and Ole Miss used the Portal to beef up their defense for Pete Golding and you can see why people would make 2024 Playoffs or bust. In the second segment of the show we talk about the way Kiffin and Charlie Weis Jr and Pete Golding is building up tent pole rooms in College Football such as the Quarterback room with Walker Howard and Austin Simmons to make sure the most important position in College Football has continuity and Looking at Wide Receiver with Tre Harris and those guys but Ayden Williams, Noreel White and Cayden Lee are players in the pipeline too.The last tentpole is Defensive Line where Walter Nolen and Princely Umanmielen will join JJ Pegues and Jared Ivey will get the headlines this year but Kamarion Franklin, William Echoles, Jeffrey Rush and Kam Beavers are part of a Top 5 defensive line class for 2024 and shows the work Ole Miss is doing there. In our final segment of the day we talk about Ole Miss and the Transfer Portal and how it will always be a large part of the Ole Miss recruiting strategy but Ole Miss having good situations in those tent pole positions will make the money go farther for the Grove Collective and Lane Kiffin. https://thegrovecollective.com/marchtovictory WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Lane Kiffin and his comments to Pete Thamel and honestly anyone that will listen about the current state of Roster Construction by the NCAA. What is the Solution…Should athletes be contracted employees and What affect will that have on Title IX and college sports as a whole. The workload on Pete Golding, Lane Kiffin and Charlie Weis has gone through the roof to the points where fully functional player personnel offices and analysts have become prevalent and the GM position for College Football has been added to the list. The Ole Miss Rebels have benefitted greatly from the chaos but it is not sustainable. In the second segment of the show we talk about Ole Miss starting spring football practice and We got a first look at Walter Nolen the celebrated transfer from the Texas A&M and Trey Amos the Cornerback from the Alabama Crimson Tide. These are some of the new faces for Pete Golding, Randall Joyner, B Brown and Zach Arnett. With Jaxson Dart still recovering from a January Procedure that has made the 2025 Quarterback Competition come into focus between Walker Howard and Austin Simmons. This Competition will likely dominate the headlines 12 months from now but it gets a head start this spring with Dart being limited. Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about Lane Kiffin and Pete Golding adding former Miss State head coach Zach Arnett to the defensive room as an analyst. Even outside of the hilariousness of the Egg Bowl this hire make the Ole Miss Rebels Defense better in their quest for the 12 Team CFB Playoff. Arnett's reputation as being a Linebacker whisperer will be key with the talented players in that room. Add in B Brown from the Cincinnati Bearcats and you have one of the most formidable defensive coaching rooms in the country. In the second segment of the show we talk about Ole Miss starting spring football practice and add some context to the beginning of spring practice. Jaxson Dart is going into this spring recovering from a minor procedure but that is opening up opportunity for Austin Simmons and Walker Howard in a QB competition that has already started even though Jaxson Dart is going to be the dude this year. We saw a picture of Trey Amos covering Tre Harris with a headline of Iron sharpens Iron. In our final segment of the day we talk about ON3 taking an ESPN story about Nick Saban's retirement and running with a nugget about the Florida State Seminoles saying they were immediately turning to Lane Kiffin if Mike Norvell left for the Alabama Crimson Tide.
