Applying this late in the cycle shows desperation. And schools love to charge full price for desperation. There are two rules every applicant should follow. Apply early. Apply broadly. Neither of those things can happen at this point in the cycle. Instead, students should focus on getting the best LSAT score possible and apply at the beginning of the next cycle. Ben and Nate discuss an article revealing how top universities fund tax-free faculty perks. They then move to law school strategy, urging applicants to prioritize career outcomes and apply broadly. They recommend retaking the LSAT to take advantage of score variance and stress the importance of mastering each argument. Finally, they caution against misleading AI advice, encourage persistence during tough study periods, and advise applying only when your LSAT score makes you competitive.Study with our Free PlanDownload our iOS appWatch Episode 507 on YouTube0:30 – Tax Breaks for Professors - A Wall Street Journal op-ed by a UC Berkeley law professor highlights generous, tax-free perks that top universities offer faculty—housing, private K–12 tuition, and college tuition at other schools. These benefits boost professor compensation while keeping base salaries modest. Schools use tuition and student loan funds to cover these perks. The takeaway: your tuition may fund more than just education. The proposed solution is to end these tax exemptions.22:30 – Should I Walk Away from a Full Ride? - Benjamin wants to know if it's worth taking a full ride at a low-ranked school. Ben and Nathan ask, can a JD from that school get you the job in the practice area you want, in the location you want it, at the firm you want? Talk to alumni and firms to see if they are hiring from this school. Check ABA reports to learn about employment outcomes. Apply broadly, and if your scholarship is conditional, be ready to walk if it's lost.33:54 – Get to 175Faith misses one or two questions per section, scoring near 175 in practice. Nate and Ben recommend using all her attempts to benefit from test-day variance. To achieve an official 175, Ben and Nate encourage Faith to stop trying to finish the section, slow down, and focus on understanding more of what they're reading. 39:07 – Bad AI Advice - Beware of AI-generated content with false or misleading law school advice. One article even published verifiably false information about Stanford. Always verify what you read.46:27 – Overcoming Roadblocks - Rachel spent 10 minutes stuck on a question. Nate and Ben see this as a positive—persistence shows strong reasoning ability. Reflect on what you learned from the process.51:00 – Apply Now or Wait? - Nick is shooting to start law school in Fall 2025. Ben and Nate warn that is a recipe for failure. Applying next cycle is possible if your LSAT is high enough to get the offers you want.1:01:43 – What to Do When You Don't Know a Word - If you don't know a word, try solving the question without looking it up. Ben suggests coming up with two meanings and using context to decide. Nathan suggests substituting “something” to test the sentence's meaning.1:18:54 - Word of the Week - Escrow - “We're updating our terminology to make things clearer, based upon valuable feedback from customers like you. In the coming days, we will be updating the term from “escrow” to “project funds” across the Upwork platform, while maintaining the same trusted functionality.”

A full-ride scholarship covers the full cost of attendance, including tuition, fees, room and board, books, supplies and equipment. It can include college-specific awards, national programs from private scholarship providers, and athletic scholarships. But while winning a full-ride scholarship is a prestigious accomplishment and significantly eases the cost of paying for college, it's very elusive, with few students winning a full-ride each year. The good news is, there are steps you can take to improve your chances.

Throughout her professional journey, she has come to recognize the importance of not only guiding students through the college admissions process but also helping them discover their aspirations for the future. That's the major reason why she founded BosonEd. I recently spoke with Katia about how high school juniors (Class of 2026) should start their college planning now (if they haven't already). We also discussed some ways that younger students can begin preparing for college, as well. In our conversation, Katia shared: The timeline for standardized tests Why she recommends students NOT take the SAT or ACT more than three times How a student's passions, perspectives, and achievements with extracurriculars affect college admissions How high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors should approach participating in extracurricular activities to build an application theme A timeline for requesting letters of recommendation A timeline for college visits and how to get the most out of them You can connect with Katia by visiting BosonEd.org. Also, be sure to read the article Katia referenced in our discussion, “【Case study】What kind of student got into Princeton?'" Class of 2026: As Katia said in our discussion, high school juniors need to begin their college planning process right now. That includes planning how to pay for college, including scholarships. In the Scholarship GPS Course, you will find an interview with a high school junior who won a $35,000 scholarship! Every year, I see the same thing: high school seniors who find every reason not to apply for scholarships. Here is what one mom said in an online forum when asked what she wishes she had done differently during her child's senior year: "I wish I had pushed my HS senior to commit to applying for scholarships. Later in her senior year, she found all kinds of ways to avoid putting in the effort."- Mom of Class of 2024 Grad. If your student is in the Class of 2025, they must start applying for scholarships immediately. Otherwise, here's the list of “reasons” that they won't be able to start later: September: “School just started. I need to adjust to my new schedule before working on scholarships.” October: “I need to work on my college applications and essays before working on scholarships.” November: “It's Thanksgiving! Don't I deserve a break?!” December: “I need to fill out the FAFSA before working on scholarships.” January: “I need to adjust to my new spring class schedule before working on scholarships.” February: “I need to get my college acceptance before I start working on scholarships.” March: “My spring sport takes too much time to work on scholarships.” April: “I need to do all the graduation prep before I work on scholarships.” May: “Prom prep is taking up all of my free time. I can't work on scholarships.” June: “All of the good scholarships are closed.” Your student's list of “reasons” will vary, but you get the point: Students can always find a “reason” that they can't apply for scholarships. However, it's important to remember that the earlier they start, the more opportunities they will have. So, let's not let these “reasons” hold us back. Let's start applying for scholarships now and make the most of the opportunities available. The hardest part of scholarships is getting started. But, Class of 2025 students who start now will not only get over this hump but also enjoy these benefits: They will build a portfolio of scholarship essays that they can reuse for many more scholarship applications throughout their senior year. They will have the experience and skills needed to be better scholarship applicants in the spring when their local scholarship opportunities (usually) open up. They could win one of the $20,000, $30,000, $50,000, or other high-dollar scholarships open to seniors this fall! It's crucial to understand the urgency of the situation. Did you know that the Class of 2025 has already missed a FULL TUITION and a FULL RIDE scholarship opportunity? Every day a student delays is another lost scholarship opportunity. Perhaps you and your student are willing to start, but you aren't sure how. The Scholarship GPS Course will get you and your student up to speed quickly. Here are just some of the highlights from the course: How and where to find scholarships How to prioritize the right scholarships How to build a student's Personal Narrative: The Key to Scholarship Success How to respond to the most common scholarship essay topics Plus, throughout the fall, I will be adding lessons on some of the biggest scholarship opportunities for the Class of 2025 - scholarships that virtually every senior should apply for! The tools, tactics and strategies I share in the Scholarship GPS Course are the same ones I used to coach my own son to over $95,000 in scholarships, to coach Isabella to 14 scholarship wins, and to coach Talon to over $100,000 in scholarships! Baseball and softball programs in college, most times, have the smallest budget of all team sports for numerous reasons, making it hard for most programs to actually give out true full rides and normally fall back on academic aid to help get players enrolled in school. Are you open to applying for scholarships, but don't have any time to find them? I got you boo! Today, I describe 4 steps to getting a full-ride scholarship, or... I cannot guarantee that you will for sure receive the scholarships, as you will need to apply for them yourself, but I can at least provide the opportunities. In college, I too was a stressed college student, looking for money and mental peace. I wondered if there were other ways to pay for college besides loans, and wished for clear direction on how to make college and career decisions! Not only was I worried about drowning in debt, but also afraid I hadn't heard Jesus correctly. Was I studying the wrong thing? Was I completely off track? I felt semi-out of control and was spiraling, until I learned how to hear from God and follow His direction. He guided me and gave me the stepping stones to pay for college. Scholarships, grants, testing out of classes, and other weird school hacks got me through debt-free! And, I'm here to teach you HOW to do this, too. If you are ready to find answers about your future, have an intimate and fruitful relationship with Jesus, and have enough money to KILL it at college, this pod is for you! So grab your cold brew and TI-89, and listen in on the most stress-free and debt-free class you've ever attended: this is Money and Mental Peace.
The University of Nebraska announced a new full-ride scholarship starting in the fall for in-state students who receive a perfect score on the ACT. The President's scholarship will cover all costs to attend the University of Nebraska – including room, board and books — plus a $5,000 stipend.
In this week's MBA Admissions podcast we began by discussing the MBA application deadlines and interview releasesfor Round 2. We are now starting to see a few interview invites for Round 2 candidates, specifically for programs like Chicago / Booth, Yale SOM, Dartmouth / Tuck, UVA / Darden and Northwestern / Kellogg. This upcoming week, Duke / Fuqua and Harvard Business School will release their Round 2 interview invites. Clear Admit is hosting is next Clear Admit+ virtual event on Monday, February 5. Alex and Graham will lead this event, and will take all questions related to MBA admissions. A big focus will be on MBA interview preparation. Graham also briefly mentioned upcoming events in February for Deferred Admissions candidates and Masters in Management candidates. Graham highlighted a Real Humans piece for Harvard, recently published on Clear Admit. This included a discussion about the academic profiles of incoming students at Harvard. We then discussed employment reports from INSEAD and Texas / McCombs. What is striking is the gap in average starting salaries for top MBA programs based in the United States and their counterparts in Europe. This led to a discussion about how firms offer different salaries based on different geographies. For this week, for the candidate profile review portion of the show, Alex selected two ApplyWire entries and one DecisionWire entry. This week's first MBA admissions candidate has applied to 12 programs, via The Consortium. They have a very good GPA (3.66) but they have waived the GMAT. Because they are seeking scholarship offers from the programs they are targeting, we suggest they still try to take the GMAT or GRE. This week's second MBA candidate is planning to apply next season, and has a strong profile from the military. They also have a good GPA from one of the Service Academies, as well as a great GMAT of 750. We think they will be a very strong candidate, but we provided some thoughts on their post MBA plans. The final MBA candidate for this week has offers from Chicago / Booth, Columbia Business School, and NYU Stern. Their offer from Stern is a full-ride, which makes their decision very difficult. They would like to go into venture capital, but that may be a tough industry to break into, wherever they attend. This episode was recorded in Philadelphia, USA and Cornwall, England. It was produced and engineered by the fabulous Dennis Crowley in glorious West Philadelphia. Thanks to all of you who've been joining us and please remember to rate and review this show wherever you listen!

Are you open to applying for scholarships, but don't have any time to find them? I got you boo! Today, I describe 4 steps to getting a full-ride scholarship, or... I can guarantee finding students between $10,000-30,000 in scholarships for college, university, grad school, law school, etc. I charge less than 1% of what I find them, depending on which tier you choose to hire me. I try to find them based on school, major, interests, and other random/general scholarships for which anyone can apply. I cannot guarantee that you will for sure receive the scholarships, as you will need to apply for them yourself, but I can at least provide the opportunities. (It would pretty much be illegal for me to apply for things in someone else's name:) Interested?
