In an already fragile situation, the Ravens have appeared to cave all the way in as their 44-10 home loss to the Texans drops them to 1-4. With over $100 million dollars of their salaried players (including Lamar Jackson) missing this game due to injury, the hope was John Harbaugh and company would rise above their circumstances and show some fight. Not only did they lose, but no such fight was shown, and now entering Week 6, the long term future of this franchise is in question for the first time in several years. On the Friday episode of the North Shore Drive podcast, presented by FanDuel and Edgar Snyder & Associates, Post-Gazette Steelers insiders Christopher Carter and Brian Batko take a look at where the Steelers sit heading into their bye week. Are the Steelers good enough to win the AFC North, with Lamar Jackson injured and the Baltimore Ravens struggling? Or is this 3-1 start just a mirage buoyed by a weak schedule? Could the Cincinnati Bengals make some noise late if Joe Burrow returns? Or are they too far gone without him to pass to receivers like Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins? Chris and Brian also give their AFC North Week 5 predictions as the Steelers stay home for their bye week. Will the Ravens bounce back against the offensively challenged Texans with Lamar Jackson's status up in the air? Will the Bengals find their footing behind Jake Browning against the high-flying Lions? And how will Dillon Gabriel fare in his first career start for the Browns against the Vikings in London? Our duo answers those questions and more. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company. See pcm.adswizz.com for information about our collection and use of personal data for advertising.
Bill opened the show by praising 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan for finding a way to win despite all of the injuries San Francisco suffered heading into Thursday night. Hour two opened with 92.3 The Fan afternoon drive host Nick Wilson joining the show to discuss how he views the Guardians season and his expectation for Dillon Gabriel on Sunday. Co-hosts Paul Mancano and Jonas Shaffer run through the Ravens' myriad injuries, including QB Lamar Jackson, S Kyle Hamilton and LB Roquan Smith (5:30). Standing at 1-3 now following their victory over the Titans last Sunday, the Texans now roll up to Baltimore, set to take on the Ravens in a Sunday noon kickoff. With both teams enduring some offensive struggles early in the start of the season, the Texans head on to Baltimore as the favorite ahead of Sunday's kickoff. Weighing the possibility of Ravens' starting quarterback Lamar Jackson possibly inactive for Sunday's game, Aaron shares a few gems the Texans must execute effectively in all aspects of the ball against their division rival if they intend to push on to 2-3 at a chance for better hopes of making the postseason.
Matt Jones is traveling back from South Africa, so Drew Franklin takes over the reins. Looking back to Sunday's tie between the Packers and Cowboys, are you still okay with teams playing to a draw? Tyreek Hill and Malik Nabers suffer season ending injuries and we're awaiting news on Lamar Jackson. The Browns are benching Joe Flacco in favor of rookie QB Dillon Gabriel. How do you feel about Bad Bunny as the Super Bowl Halftime Show? Heading to NFL Week 5, the Rams host a hampered 49ers squad. The Vikings and Browns are in London and Dillon Gabriel gets his first start. Will the Eagles stay undefeated after facing the Broncos? The Bucs and Seahawks don the throwback jerseys both looking for their 4th win. Jayden Daniels returns as the Commanders visit the Chargers. Drew explains why he's got no hope for the Cowboys against the Jets. Jaxson Dart gets his 2nd career start when the Giants are in New Orleans. How can the Ravens get back on track against the Texans? The Bengals will have their hands full against the Lions. Can the Patriots hold an edge against the Bills? Drew wonders which Chiefs team we'll see this weekend against the Jaguars.
