The defending NCAA and Big Ten champs open the dual meet portion of their latest slate by hosting Drexel on Nov. 17. Three weeks before that, the team released its updated roster for the year ahead. Host Thomas Frank Carr and reporter Greg Pickel cover that and much more on today's Blue-White Illustrated Penn State wrestling show and podcast. The pair start by reviewing the comings and goings on the roster. Who graduated or otherwise moved on? From there, they dive into a closer look at the newcomers. Penn State did not add any transfer portal additions like it did a year ago. But, it did bring 10 recruits from the Class of 2024 until campus. From there, the pair dive into the confirmed roster changes. They then discuss the projected starting lineup and the best starting spot battle, which is a toss-up between 133 pounds, 157 pounds (if those are even a battle), and 197 pounds (which definitely is).#PennState  #NittanyLions  JOIN Blue White Illustrated: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/join/?plan=annualSUBSCRIBE to Blue White Illustrated on YouTube and enable alerts - new highlights and videos uploaded regularly: https://www.youtube.com/c/bluewhiteillustratedvideo?sub_confirmationGet the 2024 Penn State Football Preview Magazine at https://bit.ly/PSU24PreviewBookmark our homepage: https://www.on3.com/teams/penn-state-nittany-lions/Subscribe to BWI Magazine and Newsletters:  https://bluewhiteonline.com Download our podcasts: https://cms.megaphone.fm/channel/LRL3155877513?selected=DSVV2664982394Like us on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/BlueWhiteIllustrated/Follow us on Twitter https://twitter.com/PennStateOn3Sound effects obtained from https://www.zapsplat.comPenn State Wrestling Reveals Roster, Weights for 2024-2025 Season

One of this week's opponent in basketball is Iowa State, so Brion summarized the games played from 1910 through 1935. Iowa is 48-28 (63% win) all-time. Fran McCaffery is 6-7 (46%) all-time vs the Cyclones. For comparison, Tom Davis was 8-5 (61.5%) all-time. The first game wasn't played until 1910. They played frequently (sometimes twice a year) through 1921, then restarted in 1933. They played again in 1935, then took a 35-year gap between games. They restarted the series in 1970, and have played almost every year since then. Iowa won the first 12 games, then Iowa State won in 1917, but Iowa won 7 more straight. The series became more competitive after the initial Iowa dominance. No team had won more than 3 straight except for Lute Olson winning 5 straight from 1978-1983. He also discussed the different venues where they played in Iowa City and Ames. Iowa State played at Margaret Hall Gymnasium from 1907-1913, State gymnasium from 1913-1946, the Iowa State Armory from 1946 to 1971, then Hilton Coliseum starting in December 1971. Iowa played in the Old Armory (Armory #1) from 1905 to 1922, where the current Communications Building resides near the Old Capitol. They moved to another Armory (#2) from 1922 to 1926 while the Field House was being built. It was located just west of the Field House in the current UI Hospital near Kinnick Stadium. They moved into the Field House in 1927 and stayed until Jan 1983 when Carver-Hawkeye Arena opened. Adam Haluska started his basketball career at Iowa State before transferring to play at Iowa for his final 3 seasons. He earned 1st Team All-Big Ten in 2007, and was an academic All-American. He was drafted in the 2nd round by the Charlotte Hornets in 2007. Dan Gable needs no introduction. He was a national champion wrestler at Iowa State, and won a gold medal in the 1972 Olympics. He took over as head coach at Iowa in 1976, and won 15 national titles and 21 Big Ten Champions before retiring in 1997. Episode 14 of the BIG LIFE is something we could not have dreamed of back in late August. The twists and turns of this season for both Sam and Jordyn could make even die-hard doubters believe in kismet. We had no clue where this little podcast would take us but to have not just one, but both of our hosts be Big Ten Champions is out of a soccer fairy tale. Or, as we like to say around here - it's called the Cary-Tale, because Sam and those yellow-decked Iowa Hawkeyes are the sleeper story of the season. And Jordyn, who we're calling J-Dub for helping Michigan State win the regular season championship, called it in episode four. Sam, looking for some extra love, point-blank asked her, "Who do you think the sleeper team is," and Jordyn reluctantly told her..."I'd have to say it's the Hawkeyes, Sam." Go figure. These Zoom sessions are sending some serious vibrations into the universe. To keep Cary-Tale and J-Dub a little humble, we brought on UCLA's Ally Cook, who knows a few things about titles. Last year, she was part of the epic Bruin team that won almost every trophy they could, including the big one - the Natty, in a game we're still recovering from. Ally is a killer forward who this year has scored nine goals and won Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week multiple times, as well as being named on the All-Conference First Team. She may be a lethal striker, but she's also an incredible human who loves to give back to the next generation. Ally was a Soccerista United mentor this past, and she was loved by the girls in our community who had her as their squad leader. This ia a winning episode if there ever was one. Welcome to a new episode of Land-Grant Holy Land's I-70 podcast. On this show, we talk about all things Big Ten football and basketball. After every week of action, we will get you caught up on all the conference's games and look ahead at the matchups, storylines, and players that you should be paying attention to in the next week. My name is Jordan Williams, and I am joined by my co-host Dante Morgan. The Michigan Wolverines are your 2022 Big Ten Champions. Under Jim Harbaugh's leadership, Michigan has won back-to-back Big Ten championships for the first time in over two decades. Michigan will now turn its sights to winning a national championship for the first time since 1985. Michigan, the no. 2 seed, is joined in the playoffs by bitter rival Ohio State who claimed the no. 4 seed after USC lost to Utah in the Pac 12 championship game. Michigan will face no. 3 TCU in the Fiesta Bowl while Ohio State travels to Atlanta to face Georgia in the Peach bowl.  In this episode of the I-70 football show, the guys discuss the importance of having two teams in the playoffs, which has only ever been done by the SEC. Collectively this was a down year for the Big Ten with only three teams ranked in the final top 25 but it was top-heavy as Penn State finished no.11 and will take on Utah in the Rose Bowl. Overall nine Big Ten teams reached a bowl game as Illinois, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Purdue and Wisconsin joined the other three in the postseason.  The guys get into their favorite matchups for bowl season and what a 12-team playoff would look like today. Dante and Jordan also discussed some of the recent news in the Big Ten such as Jim Leonhard staying on at Wisconsin while former Michigan quarterback Cade McNamara is transferring to Iowa. Lastly, Jordan won the picks competition with a final record of 82-24 as Dante ended in a close second with a 79-27 overall record.  Connect with us on Twitter: Jordan: @JordanW330 Dante: @DanteM10216 Learn more about your ad choices. Alec and Sim breakdown the Illini's loss to Purdue, something that Sim was adamant would happen. What kind of major takeaways do the guys have from the disappointing loss and is RJ Melendez solidifying himself as an important role player? How many more games can the Illini lose in conference play to still be crowned Big Ten Champions? All of that before a short conversation about a big-time official visitor in Champaign for the Northwestern game on Super Bowl Sunday. At the end of the show in buzzer-beater, Sim talks about the least talked about star in college basketball and Alec gets sentimental about what the future could look like for a couple of college basketball's more historic programs.
