Episode 108 was recorded at Devil's Den State Park, which I have been to many times. And I was undoubtedly on the Yellow Rock trail. I've never been on an other trail there, which makes me think maybe I should try some of the other ones. But I love the view from the top, which you can see in the pictures from past episodes. I've been letting my current injuries stop me, and I'm running out of excuses. Today the temperature is 79, and we have probably a little more much-needed rain to go today, but we've been in a heat wave, so for personal health and safety reasons, I couldn't go outside and walk. But I have been walking more as I spend more and more days in the office and not the home office and I get my own groceries, and go to church. My calf is weak but there is virtually no pain that I'm experiencing right now. The physical therapist says no more than a 1/2 mile. No problem there, that's usually how I start back when I've been out for an injury. Today I've let the rain discourage me, but as long-time listeners will know, I walk in all kinds of weather, as long as there isn't lightning or something truly dangerous. The other thing about episode 86, from which today's excerpts come, is activity and beauty. That bachelor party was cool because I was hanging out with friends, some new, some old, and being active, and being out in nature where we could enjoy some beauty. Some bachelor parties seek other kinds of beauty, but we chose nature. We spend time on the Yellow Rock trail, the setting for several episodes over the years, and at Lake Fayetteville, also a popular site for podcast episodes. Lately, I've been doing what I usually do when I'm not purposefully getting out in nature. When I'm filling my vehicle up with gas I stare up at the clouds. Also when I'm waiting in the checkout line at the grocery store. So I get glimpses here and there. I need more and I'll eventually get it. There is no physical barrier to that now. No more excuses!

So what is the Grey Rock Method? It was first mentioned by a blogger named Skylar who wrote an article on 180rule.com. In 2009 after leaving a relationship she poured out her story to a stranger. After she shared he told her that he was a malignant narcissist. He then told her what he did to his girlfriend when he experienced something similar. The idea is that your responses are as exciting as a dull rock. This doesn't attract attention and blends in with your surroundings. With a toxic person, you are a shiny trinket to them. Like a cat playing with a Christmas, they enjoy batting around those ornaments. With the abuser, you are that ornament! They want what you have. Your tears, your reactions, screams, or when you throw things this gives your abuser fuel. Don't give them what they want that is your energy. They crave your reactions. In a sense, they are addicted to drama and you may notice it seems like an endless cycle of problems or issues with people or make otherwise simple situations escalate into something big. With the Grey Rock method, you become that rock. You channel boring, non-nonchalant, or canned responses. Now, this may not be a long-term fix for you or your situation. When possible go “No contact” keep a paper trail, do your correspondence in writing instead of face-to-face. Having a history or documentation of your situation is important. It may be practical to go no contact. If you have to have contact because children together, or you have a job where there is a toxic person or holiday gatherings with toxic family members try using this method. Let's dive in! When you do this method you are in going to use responses that are not engaging. You will keep your end of the conversation to being brief and a matter of fact, using a simple- Yes, No, Meh!, Eh?! Use little to no emotion when responding. Maybe they ask how your weekend went, you can reply, “It was fine”, or if they ask Don't feed their drama! This can be addictive to them but to you as well! Don't give out personal details about your life or things going on with you. Keep it as impersonal as possible. Keep busy during these interactions. Don't stop what you are doing! Step back and observe the behavior of your abuser rather than let them push your buttons. Put emotional distance between you and this person. It can be hard especially if you have deep feelings. Don't tell the person this is what you are doing. You may want to pace yourself so they don't catch on Remember this is temporary. If this is between friends, family, or workplace consider finding an exit strategy that may include physically leaving the situation, holiday gathering, or the relationship. In a sense, you are manipulating the situation and disconnecting yourself as well as those emotions that you may need to deal with to start healing. Focusing less on the drama from your relationship and more on yourself so you can learn your triggers and more about your wants and needs. Avoid bringing up the past! Bringing up past wounds can spark an argument. Don't take the bait! What is the Yellow Rock Method? You are using the Grey Rock method but adding; Please, Thank you! Or “Hello! This person is going to paint you in a bad light. Let it go! Shrug and walk away. The ultimate answer for this is to leave. This may require lots of thought prayer and planning. BudgetPedalChap is not joined by Matt Quine, but rather caught up with Paul Fletcher and two new-to-the-cast-hosts, Adam Yeomans and James Town. We were all lucky enough to visit the Birmingham Guitar Show at the end of last month and we report some of our findings back to you lovely lot. We discuss the new Marshall Origin series as well as efforts from Supro and Yellow Rock. We also get a little bit gushy over our first experiences with the Honey Boy range and, even though we happen to know Andy who makes them (who happens to be a lovely chap in his own right), relay our experience of the event. We didn't quite expect the amount of cool stuff that we saw, so the rap up of everything might have to continue over to another cast, so watch this space. Our gratitude extends to all of the stands at the show and especially to those that took time to welcome us and walk us through their products. Throw us a 5-star review on Itunes to help us soar up the ranks and sharing the cast helps us immensely also. Planted in the womb of my mother, a seed from the Sun. Birthed in a field of corn called Los Angeles but raised on 100 acre cattle farm in Crescent City, California. Born Yaqui and Apache of Mexican Indian descent, a native man raised from the land with no electricity, no plumbing, a wood burning stove and mother who possessed the powers of mother earth.Returning to civilization for an education by socialized America, I acquired a bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge. After college I was encouraged by a friend to meet his modeling agent. My life would never be the same. It was legendary male super model agent Omar Alberto's idea to try the Native Man in the modeling business. Having successfully shot with great photographers like Carlos Reynosa, Cliff Watts and Matthew Rolston allowed me the access to American & European commercial and modeling market. I was then booking great commercial & print accounts like Toyota, Wilson Leather and Anson's Germany. Small spots in Television, Film and Voice soon followed. Auditioning and not landing roles with Disney / Jungle Book and Mel Gibson / Apacolypto were a just a few inspirations that kept me going till landing a small scene in the blockbuster movie TWILIGHT as Native #1 Jacob Black's great great grandfather, EPHRAIM BLACK, leader of the original Werewolf Tribe. Life has not been the same since.I have completed production on Yellow Rock with Michael Biehn, James Russo and the Spears Brothers. Yellow Rock has received 18 film awards and has acquired worldwide distribution for 2013. The Dead and the Damned has been very well received with world wide distribution, placement in Red Box as well as the national chains. Just wrapped fom “Little Boy” starring Sean Astin.
