We joined Shades of Blue, the internet's finest Manchester City FC podcast, to talk about the UEFA Women's Champions League. There's obviously a fair amount of MCFC discussion here, but we talk about several other teams in the tournament, as well. We covered a lot of ground from what happened in Round 1 of qualifying to the draw for Round 2, so here are the highlights: Manchester City drew Paris FC, and the City fans on the show are not psyched about it because Paris FC is very good Arsenal drew BK Häcken, and Dino's not thrilled with it because BK Häcken is very good! This tournament is tough, and it's normal for excellent teams to be knocked out before reaching the group stage When discussing Ajax, Grant foolishly said Lily Yohannes was born in "Maryland" before correcting himself and correctly saying she was born in Virginia (Sorry, Lily, Dan, and the whole Yohannes squad) Juventus and PSG is going to be a great set of ties: Can Mary Earps make the difference? Wolfsburg vs. Fiorentina should be a good battle And much more! Thank you again to Shady Gang over at Shades of Blue for having us on their fine program. NATE'S BIO Nate's journey started in Eritrea, a small country in the Horn of Africa where Tes, Nate's remarkable dad, became a freedom fighter in the struggle for liberty who one day stepped into a landmine that cost him an eye. The family entered the United States under political asylum as refugees in upstate New York. Tes' belief in democracy and the values of equality, self-autonomy and hard work were passed onto Nate. I saw this first hand, every day. By the time the White House had sent me Nate's profile, a lawyer with Wall Street chops, I had interviewed more than a dozen people for the coveted role I ended up hiring him for: Senior Advisor for programs that oversaw tens of billions in capital for high growth businesses and cutting edge technologies. Early capital from those programs were instrumental to companies like Apple, Intel, Genentech, Tesla, FedEx and Amgen - all tiny little startups early in their trajectories. Nate was certainly at the top of his (younger) game then, and that trajectory carries on at warp speed because what has come after serving our country is a dizzying blaze through the high stakes, high powered, multi-trillion dollar innovation economy at the cutting edge of two iconic American tech giants: Microsoft and Meta. He is currently the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (ML) Lead for Instagram creators, driving strategy to commercialize state-of-the-art AI technology for Content Understanding, using Large Language Models (LLM) for Meta's recommendation algorithm. Prior to his current role at Instagram, he was Product Leader for Foundational AI and ML for Facebook. Before that he was Director of AI Product Strategy at Microsoft's Office of the Chief Technology Officer which among other things made the investment in OpenAI, the strategic partnership with Nvidia and attempted to acquire TikTok. Before that he held various product management roles in AI, Virtual and Augmented Reality, and business development for cloud computing. He is a member of the Economic Club of New York and Advisory Board Member at NASDAQ's Entrepreneurial Center. “Democratizing technology is rooted in humanity” "Leveraging human ingenuity through artificial intelligence" EPISODE OUTLINE (0:00) - Intro (0:38) - Bio (02:09) - Political refugee becomes White House appointee (03:37) - Navigating and shaping AI; from Microsoft to Meta (06:55) - Generative AI and the creator economy; Instagram, Hollywood, etc (08:41) - The future of work is now; for knowledge workers and trades (10:50) - Some thoughts on careers in tech; leadership, confidence, risk taking, empathy (15:06) - AI to AGI to ASI reflection (15:53) - Lightning round; Halal food trucks, beer and burgers, Afro beats (18:01) Outro NATE RELATED LINKS Microsoft Profile The Heart and Soul of Machines Maximizing Connectivity and Culture- Podcast Fireside Chat The AI Revolution is Here (2020) GENERAL INFO| TOP OF THE GAME: Official website: https://topofthegame-thepod.com/ RSS Feed: https://feed.podbean.com/topofthegame-thepod/feed.xml Hosting service show website: https://topofthegame-thepod.podbean.com/ Javier's LinkTree: https://linktr.ee/javiersaade & Bio: https://tinyurl.com/36ufz6cs SUPPORT & CONNECT: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/showcase/96934564 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61551086203755 Twitter: https://twitter.com/TOPOFGAMEpod Subscribe on Podbean: https://www.podbean.com/site/podcatcher/index/blog/vLKLE1SKjf6G Email us: info@topofthegame-thepod.com THANK YOU FOR LISTENING – AVAILABLE ON ALL MAJOR PLATFORMS

Four out of five Black Portlanders once lived in Albina, a portion of inner Northeast Portland that includes the Elliot, Boise, King, Humboldt, Overlook, Irvington and Piedmont neighborhoods, but many of those residents were displaced by the construction of Interstate 5, during which Black-owned homes and business were destroyed through eminent domain and urban renewal policies.Albina Vision Trust is a nonprofit that advocates for large-scale restorative development in the area, aiming to revitalize and reconnect the historically Black Albina community. The nonprofit's executive director Winta Yohannes, board chair Michael Alexander and strategic communications lead JT Flowers were guests on this week's episode of Straight Talk to discuss the history of Albina, what Albina Vision Trust has accomplished so far, and the organization's vision and plans for the future."Our dream is to successfully execute that vision and create a brand-new neighborhood where wealth is shared and opportunity is available to all who live there," Yohannes said, adding that if successful, the scale of the project would result in the area adding a whole new ZIP code.
