Have you ever pushed away the love you wanted most or clung to it so tightly that you lost yourself in the process? Jay sits down with Attachment Style expert and creator of the Integrated Attachment Theory Thais Gibson to unpack one of the most powerful forces shaping our relationships. Together, they explore how our earliest emotional experiences quietly shape the way we love, communicate, and respond to conflict later in adulthood. Thais explains how anxious, avoidant, and fearful-avoidant patterns aren’t flaws or labels that define us, but protective mechanisms we once needed to feel safe. Jay and Thais dive into the subtle ways attachment wounds show up in dating and long-term relationships, from overthinking a delayed text, to fearing commitment when things start to get too serious. Thais shares practical tools for recognizing your subconscious needs, reprogramming limiting beliefs, and communicating in ways that build security instead of sabotaging connection. Jay highlights how healing isn’t about changing who you are, it’s about understanding why you are the way you are, and consciously choosing new patterns that align with the love you truly desire. They emphasize that compatibility alone isn’t enough; emotional safety, self-awareness, and the willingness to grow are what sustain meaningful connection. This is a reminder that love is not just about finding the right person, it’s about becoming the safest, most secure version of yourself. When we learn to meet our own unmet needs, we stop outsourcing our worth and start building relationships rooted in clarity, compassion, and conscious choice. In this interview, you'll learn: How to Identify Your Attachment Style How to Stop Overthinking in Relationships How to Communicate Your Emotional Needs Clearly How to Reprogram Limiting Love Beliefs How to Build Emotional Safety with a Partner How to Respond Instead of React to Triggers How to Set Boundaries Without Fear of Abandonment Awareness is the turning point. The moment you begin to notice your triggers without judging them, communicate your needs without apologizing for them, and choose growth over fear, that’s the moment your relationships begin to change. Do you ever struggle with shame, pain, numbness, or disconnection in your sex life?So many of us have done inner child work, attachment work, and therapy for our mental health — but we've never applied that same lens to our sexuality. Cultural conditioning, religious messaging, porn, performance pressure, trauma, and body shame all shape how safe (or unsafe) we feel in intimacy. And often, it's our sexual selves that become fragmented. In this episode, I'm joined by trauma-informed somatic sex educator and Erotic Wholeness coach Darshana Avila (featured on Goop's podcast and TV show) to explore how to heal sexual shame, navigating painful sex, ways to deepen intimacy, and confidently asking for the pleasure you actually want. Darshana has dedicated her career to helping people tune in to their truth, desires, and authentic relationships. Her work has been featured on Netflix's Sex, Love & goop, and she's spent over a decade guiding people out of the cultural patterns that keep them stuck. This conversation explores sex and the erotic not as performance, but as attunement, embodiment, and healing.Tune in to hear:What Erotic Wholeness actually meansHow trauma and upbringing impact desire and shutdownWhy so many women experience painful sex — and what might be happening physiologically and emotionallyWhy orgasms can feel difficult or inconsistentHow to feel more confident and comfortable in your bodyHow to give feedback in bed without shame or conflictWhat to do when you “don't even know what you like”How to slow down, build anticipation, and deepen attunementWhy presence and nervous system regulation are key to better sexFollow Darshana on her website and Instagram. For advertising and sponsorship inquiries, please contact Frequency Podcast Network. Join me for this fun and informative Masterclass and Live Coaching Event on February 24th!! Learn how to speak so that the man you love will truly hear you. We all know men and women communicate differently. In order to get the best results from a conversation, it's to our advantage to learn to speak their language. The missing piece is learning how to communicate in the way men process and prioritize constructive action. Male communication is not about expression—it's about outcome. And that has a specific formula. I know that formula. I speak it fluently. And I'll teach you how to use it. Just think… Want forward movement and greater harmony? Have you ever left a conversation thinking, That's not what I meant — and still felt the distance linger? Do you ever wonder why relationships feel exhausting, confusing, or fragile… even when you genuinely try to do the right thing? Dr. Alison is joined by counselor and author Debra Fileta for a conversation that names a quiet tension many people live with but rarely articulate. Sometimes the hardest part of relationships isn't a lack of love—it's the gap between what we intend and what others experience. Together, you'll explore: Why do the same relational patterns keep repeating? Why does communication break down so quickly under stress? Why do good intentions sometimes land as hurt or distant? Why does love feel like it should be enough… but often isn't? If you've ever thought, Why does this still feel so hard when I care so much? — this episode creates space to ask better questions, without pressure to already have the answers.

You know you need to let go but you can't stop thinking about them. Here's how to retract your energetic thoughts that keep you stuck (while they repel the very person you want). If you want them back, obsessing over them creates energetic repulsion. If you want to be free and move on, retracting your energy is key. Disciplining your mind to move into the ‘future forward' position creates confidence, opportunity, freedom, and choice. Want more? Are Their Feelings Real? Players. Scammers. Opportunists. They thrive on the one vulnerability we all possess—the desire to believe their feelings are real. Here's how to become ‘player proof.' We're told to “just be yourself” on a first date. But which YOU is that? Here's how to show up as your authentic best self while letting your many facets shine. When we're young, we're still forming our identity. Taking cues from those around us, we try on different personalities and attitudes until we find what resonates. In maturity, we discover we have multiple sides to our personalities, and various aspects come out to play when dating. Feeling comfortable with the 'allness' of who you are sets you up for success from the first date onward. A blindsided breakup with an avoidant partner leaves you reeling—one moment there's love and connection, the next, silence and confusion. Here's why they disappear the moment love takes hold. When the avoidant pulls away just as things feel real, it's not about you—it's about their fear of emotional closeness. Today Vanessa Bennett returned to the show and we unpacked how parenthood reshapes identity and intimacy, from the weight of expectations on mothers and fathers to the quiet struggles new parents rarely name. I pressed into the difference between craving and true desire, why shared purpose matters, and the real challenges men face growing emotional intelligence. We also looked at dismantling dominator models, strengthening the relationship with self, and clearing up common myths about partnership. Bottom line, self-awareness and open communication are the backbone of healthy, connected relationships. AI is officially in the room. In this roundtable, I sit down with our Relationship Experts team to unpack how tools like ChatGPT are showing up inside real relationships. We explore Dr. Shirley Glass's "walls and windows" model and ask a crucial question: Is AI helping you open the window between you and your partner, or is it becoming a new window that pulls you farther apart? You will hear clinical stories, practical guidelines, and a simple litmus test to make sure AI supports connection instead of replacing it. In this episode Why AI feels so validating and why that can be risky for couples "Walls and windows" explained for the AI era Two roles AI often plays in relationships Replacement companion that siphons emotional energy away from your partner "Judge of facts" that fuels suspicion and confirmation bias A healthy use case that actually deepens connection Four therapist-approved guidelines to use AI wisely without eroding trust Timestamps 00:00 Welcome, and why we are talking about AI now 02:18 Program note and invitation for a free 45-minute consultation 03:55 Walls and windows model applied to AI 06:55 When AI becomes a "perfect listener" and the partner gets sidelined 17:20 AI as the "decider of truth" and how that inflames anxiety 19:52 A pro-connection use case: AI helps find your own words of appreciation 22:35 Key distinction: AI as a tool to foster connection, not replace it 24:32 The "easy dopamine" problem and the investment mindset 31:34 Why AI cannot deliver the art of therapy or real human presence 44:40 It is not about quick answers, it is about the therapeutic process 51:55 Is turning to AI a form of micro-betrayal 56:18 Quick self-check questions to keep the window between you open 58:04 Final guidelines and takeaways Key takeaways Sharing equals connecting. When sharing shifts from your partner to AI, disconnection grows over time. AI can validate feelings quickly, but overuse can replace the effort that builds intimacy. Be cautious when you ask AI to "decide facts" about your partner. Limited inputs plus anxious questions often return fear-confirming answers. A healthy use of AI is as a tool that helps you find your own words so you can show up better with your partner. Think like an investor. Put time and vulnerability into the relationship that gives real returns. Mentioned in the episode Not "Just Friends" by Dr. Shirley P. Glass — the "walls and windows" model that helps couples protect the boundary around their relationship. Concepts discussed: confirmation bias, emotional investment, human presence in therapy. In 2022 I was deep into therapy regarding my marriage and myself. My counselor at the time recommended a book, “I Don't Want to Talk About It: Overcoming the Secret Legacy of Male Depression,” by a therapist named Terry Real. I read the book and opened up a whole new level of understanding about myself. Terry then released a book titled US: Getting Past You and Me to Build a More Loving Relationship, which my therapist also recommended. Shortly after I was contacted by an agency about having Terry on this podcast. He was being touted as actress Gwyneth Paltrow's favorite relational therapist and was being praised by actor Bradley Cooper, psychotherapist Esther Perel, and the forward to the book is a candid, vulnerable story from Bruce Springsteen where he shares, “At age thirty two I hit an emotional wall and realized I was lost in a deep dark forest, largely of my own making, without a map. So began forty years of trying to find my way through the shadowed trees, down to the river of a sustaining life. Terry Real has been a guide and this book is a map through those trees.” For me the book revealed much about how I perceived a separateness in my relationships that was not helping create connection and intimacy. In Us, Terry showcases how we culturally live as “you and me” when the bedrock of our being is us. I agree. Find Terry at terryreal.com. “Your birthright is pleasure.”What if everything you've been taught about aging, sexuality, and womanhood is not only outdated, but completely wrong? Joining us to challenge all of it is Melissa Louise, a pleasure advocate and erotic blueprint coach whose perspective on midlife, menopause (or as she calls it, “regenopause”), patriarchy, and sex magic will have you rethinking every cultural script you've inherited. In this conversation, Erin and Melissa unpack the rules women internalize about their bodies, pleasure, and relationships and explore what becomes possible when we step outside those boxes. From raising her son barefoot in the jungles of Costa Rica to guiding clients toward sexual mastery, Melissa invites us to reclaim our agency and embrace our inherent power in the second half of life. We discuss:Why “menopause” is a social construct designed to weaken women and how “regenopause” can become a regenerative upgrade to wisdom and powerHow pleasure operates as a life force that fuels creativity, manifestation, and even financial abundanceHow society's 24-hour sun cycle depletes women, and what it means to reconnect with the lunar rhythms of the female bodyThe difference between love and monogamy, and why relationship structures are due for a radical rethinkWhy older women have historically been the wisdom keepers, and how we can reclaim our place as guides, leaders, and culture-shapersPractical ways to bring more pleasure, freedom, and play into everyday life no matter your age, relationship status, or beliefs about midlifeOUR GUEST: Melissa Louise is a leading Pleasure Advocate, Erotic Blueprint, Sex, Intimacy & Relationship Expert. Relationship expert Baya Voce reveals why the fairy tale version of love is setting us up for failure—and what actually creates lasting intimacy. She shares her personal journey from serial people-pleasing to building genuine connection, including the painful lesson of being engaged to someone who fabricated his entire identity. Most people never exit the "power struggle" phase of relationships because they've never learned the one skill that matters most: how to repair after conflict. Baya explains why therapy at the beginning of a relationship changes everything, how your nervous system—not your personality—determines who you attract, and why the ability to sit in emotional discomfort is more valuable than chemistry. You'll walk away understanding that love isn't about finding someone perfect—it's about two imperfect people learning to heal together.Sign up for Baya's newsletterFollow Baya on InstagramIn this episode you will:Discover why conflict is required for intimacy – Not optional, not avoidable, but essential for moving beyond surface connection into true partnership and interdependenceMaster the art of emotional regulation – Learn why this single skill, according to neuroscientists, determines your success in every relationship more than communication or compatibilityTransform your nervous system response – Understand how your physiological health—thyroid, cortisol, sleep—directly impacts your ability to stay calm during disagreementsBreak free from the change-accept paradox – Stop trying to fix your partner or change yourself to please them, and learn the framework for healthy boundaries that create mutual respectLearn to repair instead of run – Access the exact framework (truth, agreement, responsibility) for having difficult conversations that strengthen rather than damage your connectionFor more information go to https://lewishowes.com/1836For more Greatness text PODCAST to +1 (614) 350-3960More SOG episodes we think you'll love:Esther Perel – greatness.lnk.to/1686SCMartha Higareda Howes – greatness.lnk.to/1788SCJillian Turecki – greatness.lnk.to/1740SC Get more from Lewis!
