Don't Let a Market Tantrum Wreck Your Retirement Glow-UpThe stock market's throwing a fit again—cue the dramatic music and the ghost of 1930s-style tariffs. But before you clutch your pearls and cash out your 401(k), let's talk strategy. On this episode of Queer Money, we break down what all this market chaos actually means for your retirement dreams—and why it's not the time to panic. We're serving up calm, clarity, and a reminder that emotional investing is so last season. Selling in a panic? That just locks in your losses and wrecks your long-term glam plan. Instead, we spill the tea on why keeping those retirement contributions flowing—rain or shine—is the best way to build true wealth.Because here's the truth: retirement should be a well-planned runway strut, not a frantic sprint in heels during a hurricane. Takeaways:✨ Don't sell in a snit - Panic selling when the market dips is like breaking up with your sugar daddy during a minor disagreement—it might feel right in the moment, but you'll miss the long-term benefits. Hold steady and don't lock in those losses.✨ Keep those contributions coming, honey - Whether you're 25 or 65, consistency is key. Retirement investing isn't a short fling—it's a committed relationship. Keep funding those accounts, even when the market feels like it's ghosting you.✨ History's got your back (and your portfolio) - Markets have been drama queens before—wars, recessions, scandals—but they always bounce back. Think of downturns as the messy middle of a glow-up montage.✨ Check your financial feng shui - Now's a great time to review your portfolio. Is your asset mix aligned with your risk vibe and retirement goals? If not, it might be time for a little financial redecorating.Topics Covered:00:01 - The Gala Event Dilemma00:39 - The Impact of Tariffs on the Stock Market02:57 - Understanding Market Corrections and Bear Markets06:41 - Strategies for Portfolio Management During Volatility07:45 - Rebalancing Your Portfolio StrategiesMentioned in this episode:Subscribe to the Queer Money Weekly NewsletterSubscribe here to get weekly money tips, show notes, Queer Money take-aways, give-aways, access to events and more.Subscribe to the Queer Money weekly newsletterSupport the Queer Money podcastWe love bringing you new content every week. April Adams Pertuis is a dynamic force in the world of storytelling and visibility, empowering mission-driven female entrepreneurs and business leaders to leverage the strength of their Story to create more connection, build community, and increase deal flow. She helps mission-driven leaders and entrepreneurs discover their inherent ability to reach people by teaching them how to share their story so they can create deeper connections and build strategic relationships. As the visionary Founder and CEO of LIGHTbeamers, April pioneers the way for women to use their stories as a catalyst for growth. When April speaks, audiences discover the power of their own story to create more cohesive communities, build stronger relationships, and attract ideal outcomes. The key message is always “everybody has a story” and that story is a powerful beacon used to shine a light for others.TAKEAWAYS:Don't be afraid to be vulnerable. If you think about those you follow and admire online, most of them have probably told parts of their story that you connected with. So think about how you can connect with your audience in the same authentic way. Know your ideal audience. When you know who you are talking to, you can tell your story from the viewpoint of where they are. They probably can most relate to your “before” because that's probably where they are now. It all starts with them seeing themselves in your story.Your story doesn't have to be in chronological order. We all have lots of stories to tell, but we also don't need to tell every detail. Find the stories that will most connect with your audience and then use that story to tell the beginning, transformation, and other side, your message or lessons learned. RESOURCES:Visit the blog post that goes along with this episode for more resourcesListen to April's podcast The Inside Story PodcastDownload April's Story Arc FrameworkHang out with April on InstagramSnag a seat in the Sell on Autopilot Masterclass, and learn how to use email marketing to sell while you sleep!CONNECT WITH ALLISON:Follow Allison on InstagramDID YOU HAVE AN 'AH-HA MOMENT' WHILE LISTENING TO THIS EPISODE?If you found value and are ready to take action from listening to this episode, head to Apple Podcasts and help us reach new audiences by giving the podcast a rating and a review. Blending families after divorce or loss isn't easy.  So many in the world today are trying to blend and mesh their families together. This can be such a difficult process, leading to stress and discord among the family. On this week's episode of Embracing Your Season with Paige Clingenpeel, she has Paul and Jeanette Savage who are authors of the book, Blended: Navigating the Challenges and Joys of a Stepfamily. They share how the vision of the book came about and their own stories and experiences of blending their families together.Takeaways:Don't force relationships to happen - Take your time and have those hard conversations, be patient with our kids as they navigate a relationship with the other adult. This helps build the foundations for success in blended families.Build experiences - Go camping, vacation together, have games nights or a picnic. These experiences help bond relationships, help them learn more about each other, and create some pretty fun stories.Go through therapy - Work through issues and hurt from your past relationships before starting a new one. Relationships can never fulfill you in the way that God can. Counseling can be beneficial not only for yourself but also for your family. It changes the way you parent and partner with your spouse in navigating the blended family. Paige ClingenpeelQuestions About the Podcast? The kingdom of God offers us a different kind of energy than the empire of the world. The source of kingdom energy is God. His energy is love, and when we're aware that we're plugged into this power, we experience peace--not anxiety. Love energy is supernatural energy. That's one big reason why living loved feels so different from living afraid, so you're in the right place if -  You're tired of running on the fuel of fear and anxiety and you're hungry for permission to believe in something more.  You enjoy hearing supernatural stories that empower you to believe in more than your natural eyes can see and your natural ears can hear.  You're ready to live a life trusting that you are valuable and protected by the God of the Universe who is your Father - and who is inviting you into a love story of epic proportions because you are His child. In this episode, Janet tells a supernatural love story, and Doug reminds us that the way things are in our world is not the way things can be in the kingdom. God is making all things new—and that's His provision. He protects the vulnerable and writes a new story that's impossible without Him.   Dare to imagine a supernatural love story with God as you listen to this episode and linger in these TAKEAWAYS: Don't simply pray for broken relationships to be healed. Pray for God's power to bring forth a new relationship to enjoy where broken has been something you've lived with for too long.  Empowered means “giving someone the authority or power to do something” or “making someone stronger and more confident.” Being empowered in the Kingdom of God is very different from being empowered in the systems that exist in our world today because the roots of these systems were built before Jesus gave us a new heart, a new covenant, and ushered in a new kingdom. The energy in the kingdom of God primarily protects the vulnerable and provides the priceless. As followers of Jesus, we have this power, too. We are empowered and can empower others - with love, not fear. Janet and Doug talk about these resources in this episode: Episode #72 - Anxiety, Depression, and the Energy LOVE Offers The Heart Of Man It's not just a tagline—together, there is great hope. They discuss her book and Leslie shares advice about parenting, health and diet culture. Health isn't just about diet and exercise or the food we put in our bodies. It is so much bigger in terms of mental health, connection and listening to our bodies.Paige's Takeaways:Don't be afraid of food. Food fears are actually more unhealthy than the food itself. If we are looking at food like it's dangerous, that is going to cause stress.  It's going to eliminate the ability to eat healthy foods or to give our bodies the food that it needs.Make additions to your eating, don't tell yourself that you can't have something. If we are telling ourselves “no” that's going to make us lean into rebellion more and eat those things or supplement with something else. Just add to your diet instead.Take a moment and listen to the cues that your body is giving you. Our bodies are divinely designed. They are designed with purpose and on purpose. If our bodies are telling us we need something or we are hungry, listen! WE need to treat our bodies with honor and respect and listen to it.WE are modeling for our kids. If you speak ashamedly about your body, about your weight, about your clothes, your hair or your appearance, our kids are going to pick up on that. This goes for both girls and boys so be mindful of what you are saying. This can affect mental health as well.Paige ClingenpeelQuestions About the Podcast?
