The Luqmans connect history, politics, and evolving social issues to today's pressing current events, and view them through a Black and pan-African revolutionary perspective.
Well of course this story has gotten weirder. First, sadly the death toll of this attack in New Orleans is now 15 people, with 30 injured. But some things aren't adding up, and then there are other things that have been added, so you know…I have questions.Like on Wednesday, the media was reporting that the FBI claimed that a black foreign terrorist organization's flag was found in the truck that Jabbar drove through the crowd. Yesterday I called it an ISIS flag because I did see it described as such in a few reports. But I thought then, where would he have acquired such a flag? Do you order that from Amazon? Walmart? TerroristFlagsOutlet.com (there is no such website…I don't think)? And then I was also thinking as I was reading the initial news accounts of the New Orleans attack that as horrible as this is, parts of this sound like the Newburg 4 case. I talked about this case two years ago when 3 of the 4 defendants in the case were released from prison. There is more that has me asking questions. Listen in to find out!
What Do The Chickens Bring Back With Them When They Come Home To Roost? Don't Look At New Orleans In A Vacuum The FBI is investigating the attack as an act of terrorism and said it does not believe the driver acted alone. An Islamic State group flag was found on the vehicle's trailer hitch, the FBI said. There is much to learn still from the early morning New Year's Day vehicular attack on a crowded Bourbon Street in New Orleans this first day of 2025. Although details are still being released, what has been shared seems to suggest that we enter this new year faced with an old international/foreign policy problem. I think this is fitting, considering the catastrophe and chaos that the US government has continued to perpetuate in the Middle East. And I believe this is one of those moments that we should remember where we were when it happened.
Never let the corporations and US politicians truncate the history of Juneteenth, and the enduring legacy of bipartisan "compromise" on our human rights that yanked away the freedom we fought for.
We can absolutely defeat the anti-trans bigots who are mad that transgender people drink their crummy beer (there are better beers out there, trans friends, you're better than Bud Light), conservative organizations trying to put trans youth and people back in the closet in public schools, and liberals who are all too willing to compromise with the people who want to take away the human rights of people who are not like them!We have to OUT-ORGANIZE ALL THESE PEOPLE, AND WE CAN DO IT!Because when trans lives are under attack, what do we do?STAND UP, FIGHT BACK!!
Well, well, well the plot thickens!!! As MORE classified documents are found in Biden's possession, explain to me how this is different from what Trump did in any way except volume?I smell Democratic hypocrisy...
The discovery of classified White House documents in Joe Biden's civilian post-administration office could cause a stink for him, especially if those documents contain evidence of US imperialistic plans for regime change in Iran, Ukraine, and collusion with the UK to persecute Julian Assange. There is definitely something there here...
The saga of the empty Speaker's chair is over for the GOP-controlled House of Representatives. But lessons abound for the so-called Progressive Caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus, and every alleged "progressive" in the Democratic Party. The GOP just showed up Progressives on what should be done with power once you have it, if Progressives really wanted to win anything for the people. But of course, they won't listen and learn because they were never in it to give power to the people. They were always in it for themselves.
Until the United States does right by Indigenous Peoples, nothing good will come to it. And the continued resistance of those Original People will never allow the legacy of atrocities like Wounded Knee to be buried and forgotten.
Everyone is appalled at Russia allegedly invading Ukraine without provocation...except the US and NATO did plenty of provoking, and they armed and legitimized neo-nazis to do it. And the eight-year civil war that resulted is completely ignored by US media.
Yes, Mary J. Blige did the damn thang. But maybe this SuperBowl needs to be the last time Black artists do any damned thang with the NFL.
Yeah none of them is worth cheering for and nobody got deplatformed and why does the left defent assholes so much damn.
On the anniversary of Patrice Lumumba's assassination, let us not forget that the great Pan-African leaders who were killed or deposed by western forces have also tried to erase the connection between Martin Luther King, Jr. and these great men and their movements. Never forget that they are all connected in a single garment of struggle and destiny.
Kamala Harris told y'all to put some Robitussin on that COVD, but to use Google to find it.
For all of Biden's tough talk about fighting the fascists who rioted in the US Capitol last year, the glaring contradictions about the neoliberal, anti-progressive, imperialist policies the US is infamous for should not be ignored.
Elizabeth Holmes and Theranos WERE dangerous, and nobody can tell me she isn't evil. But she's doe-eyed, blonde and attractive, so...
Happy Revolutionary New Year!
In declaring that there is no federal solution to the spread of the omicron variant and the persistence of COVID-19, Biden basically kicked the can to the states and told the country to put some Robitussin on that omicron, 'cuz he's got nothing for you.
In remembering the atrocoties committed against Africans enslaved in this land and the Native peoples the land was stolen from, we have to focus on the victories in that shared struggle against white supremacist settler colonialism in this country that were won. Because it was those victories from that shared struggle that led to more brutal repression - true - but that also informs us how we can defeat this system today. We just have to do it as an enormous Proletariat Nation rising up as one.
First, the nativity scene Christians idolize is incorrect on several points. Second, Christian supremacy is based in white supremacy, settler colonialism and the love of capitalism and oppression. Last, I think the answer to this is horrifying Christmas monsters!! Or maybe just fight for each other, instead of fighting over whose belief is right.
The depth of the nepotism and corruption between Jose Manchin, his family, and Joe Biden is appalling. And that's why it needs to be aired out.
We see who holds the power of the presidency, and it ain't Joe Biden.
Want to know where our healthcare, housing & education money went? Look no further than the 2021 NDAA.
If you're going to be an ally, be like John Brown...and be a co-conspirator for liberation.
It was nice that Britain's Prince Charles mentioned the brutal legacy of slavery in his speech at Barbados's independence ceremony. But that legacy deserves more than a mention in a speech. Britain owes Barbados much, much more than words.
Did you hear about the three bills Biden signed to help cops? Of course you didn't, because the media didn't cover the signing. Nor did it cover the DOJ giving law enforcement agencies more money to hire more cops. No argument, no fillibuster, no compromises. But bills for you and me? They get whittled down to nothing without much of a fight from Biden at all.
The US media is hard at work trying to delegitimize Nicaragua's elections, with lies so easily debunked it would be laughable if the propensity for those who believe imperialist US media weren't to always believe the party line.
I don't commemorate 9/11, but I have personal reasons to never forget it and how this country waged a war with its own people.
The latest white rage arrest at the US Capitol exposes the hypocrisy of this system and the difference between the right-wing revolt they want and the real people's revolution we actually need.
I'm not sure what about the 19th Amendment I'm supposed to celebrate when it - and the 13th, 14th and 15th Amendments before it - did little to guarantee unrestricted ballot access to Black people.
Biden's speech about Afghanistan oozed with the contempt for Afghans that the US has shown the entire time they've been dropping bombs in the country. Afghanistan may not be his fault, but the defense of US imperialism with white supremacist tropes about lazy, cowardly, ignorant Afghans is.
How a Hollywood movie turned the obscene tragedy of US imperialist involvement in Afghanistan into the lighthearted comedy-drama, while the truth was the tragedy of a pointless 20-year war and the creation of the Taliban.
How the Trump Administration's meddling in the 2020 Census may still pay off for the GOP, especially since they had help from the inside...that's still there.
Why Nina Turner lost, and was Cori Bush's sleepout political theater?
How's the garden doing, you ask? Well, I'll tell you! And I'll tell you why it's important.
Simone Biles putting her physical and mental health first is the exception to that we all should have the luxury of partaking in. And this is especially true of us radicals trying to fight the system that makes it this way.
Daniel Hale was sentenced to nearly 4 years in prison. Let's be very clear about why, and it wasn't because he violated any law about spying.
Daniel Hale is a hero for exposing the continued callous disregard of life by the imperialist US regime. But he will be treated as an enemy of the state for exposing that truth.
US corporate media's propaganda against China doesn't hide the true megalomaniacal oppressive despot on the planet. And it's not Xi Jingping.
On Assata's birthday, let's remember what she taught us - that she is a freedom fighter not a terrorist, and she taught us how to fight. For her and for Cuba against the United Snakes attacking them both.
What do Haiti and Hawai'i have in common? US business interests backing fascist violence and imperialist oppression.
My tribute to my beloved Papa Bear Lugman, who charted this course that led us to Luqman Nation.
Kamala's trip to Guatemala was a disaster that we hope follows her around like a bad smell for the rest of her political career! And growing a garden is a great relaxation, but it is also a deeply political act of self-determination.
What is happening in Palestine isn't a religious clash, it's settler colonialism with white supremacy at its root. You can't expect US officials who defend settler colonialism here to do anything other than support it there.
Some of y'all's colonized thinking and cop copping is dangerous and disgusting.
Of course it's good that Derek Chauvin was punished for his crime. But let's not fall for the liberal framing of his conviction as any kind of progress for eliminating the racial terrorism of the cops. Because that's still happenine.
As the tension mounts in the country as we wait for the jury verdict in the Derek Chauvin trial, Maxine Waters' comments are being framed as the spark that could light the tinderbox. Of course they aren't, but the politicians who want to start an "Anglo Saxon Caucus" believe they are. And the corporate media is finally honest about the brutality of the police - after they were victims of it.
All these questions about where Adam Toleda's parents were are some white conservative respectability BS that they didn't ask about Kyle Rittenhouse, who actually murdered two people. And amid all the horror of this week, how I keep myself grounded and still plot a little mini revolution in the process.
The lasting trauma of what witnesses in the trial of Derek Chauvin testified to show how racism affects entire communities, and ultimately the entire country.
The long history of solidarity among Asians with the Black struggle should inform us of the need to continue and return that solidarity today; and how the Paris Commune still influences movements in the struggle for justice today.
