How can you become one?Partial Transcript:- All right, welcome back to another one of our Expert Interview sessions with Bambiz. Today we've got Greg McIntyre of McIntyre Elder Law. He's got a couple of different locations in the Charlotte, North Carolina area. Welcome to the Expert Interview, Greg.- Charlotte metro area, I'm metro, let's go. Thanks, man, I appreciate that.- Awesome. Well, give us a little bit of an overview of your practice.- I'm an Elder Law attorney with McIntyre Elder Law and I'm one of our attorneys. Our practice has multiple offices in the Charlotte metro area and we're very big into elder counsel, love elder counsel. I'm a huge believer in systems and processes and being able to provide next level services. What does that mean? I mean really great services, fix any problems, provide great Estate Planning and Elder Law services to our clients in a timely manner. Companies like Krause Financial, Elder Counsel, Bambiz Marketing help us put in place systems because I'm one guy. I am one person with like, maybe, so much time at work. I was going to say eight hours in a day but that's a joke. With 12-13 hours in a workday, no, with 24 hours a day, right, and I've got sleep eight of them, spending a little, some time with my family, and not feel too guilty that I'm neglecting my kids, my wife, too much. Then it goes back and forth. Or not feel guilty that I'm neglecting my practice too much. So that's always the juggle and the struggle but with our Elder Law practice, we have, Elder Law to me, we have three departments. We have Estate Planning, which I call pre-planning, because with Elder Law, you're always looking at the long-term care piece and that's a big issue. A little different from traditional Estate Planning with someone in their 30s, early 40s, with two kids. That's the easy stuff. Then there's probate, which is when someone passes away. It's probably our busiest department, even though we tell people how to avoid probate all the time they don't listen. So we continue to service them and we want to do that, provide great services there when they're in need. We also do probate litigation in that department and guardianships in that department. I like to get in court and do those things, our attorneys do, we have attorneys who go to court and do those. Then we have Medicaid crisis planning and veterans benefits planning, which is a really, really, I think that's where we have the most fun, which is planning to save assets that maybe other attorneys and street lawyers they talk to, their friends tell them, social workers tell them, you just have to spend every dime that you've ever earned down on care. There's many, many other ways to go with it. I thoroughly enjoy what I do, I love it, it's my passion and I hope it shows.- Yeah. Well, one of the things that I remember you telling me, we actually met together at one of, a business growth conference at the beginning of the year and you were kind of telling me your story about how you kind of got into practicing law. If you could, just briefly kind of give us the short version of that because it's a pretty good story.- Yeah, so, I mean, it's the cheesiest story ever, man. I mean, literally...For the entire transcript visit: lawyergreg.com

Goal of the episode: To illustrate that I have spent much of my life… Many people spend all of their lives banging their head against closed doors… barking up the wrong tree… instead of getting really good at identifying those locked doors and looking for the right ones. “A disciplined mind invites joy” - Buddah - “A Disciplined Mind Brings Happiness.” #LawyerGreg @LawyerGreg #RockStarLawyer

Goal of the episode: To inspire people to examine their lives… Their goals. Realize their potential. Do what works for them. Set big goals. Chip away at them. Not give up on them. Questions: Do you set goals? How? Why? Should people even set goals? Do what you love… Goals should be in line with that. What is filing your goals? What have you achieved by filing your goals? Where are you in regards to achieving all of your goals? So, goal filing, how is this different to just setting goals?

Chapter.1 “On Stage or in the Crowd.” Step.1- Lose Your Inhibitions Exercise: Do Krazy Shit. (This means not following the crowd.) As long as it gives you the opportunity to step outside of yourself, even for a few seconds, then do it. This exercise is going to be one of the most valuable things you have ever done. You will learn who you are. You will find your voice. You will no longer be in the crowd. When you have succeeded in doing something different just once, or at least overcome some of those fears that arise from even thinking of doing this exercise, try it again, and keep doing it again. Step 2: Get Haters Now Stop Being Indecisive (or caring what others think of you.) Take a stance. Step 3: High Frequency You cannot begin to imagine the volume of traffic on the internet, on social media... Step 4: When you are tired and run down Now is the time to double down, to keep the momentum going. Strike and keep striking while the iron’s hot, even when you are exhausted. Do not back down. Develop a Killer Instinct: #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Chapter.2 "Rise to the Occasion" You need to find that place that puts you in the right mindset... that makes you bulletproof. That energizes you to work and strive and operate at rock star levels. Where is that place for you? What is your routine? Exercise: Write on paper the place which makes you feel like a rock star, no matter where it is. So ask yourself: How grand is my thinking? Commit to taking ‘Massive Action.’ Passion makes Massive Action Easy. Mistakes will be made, GET OVER IT! Expect Criticism- Embrace it, be even more controversial. Stop being Scared of Speaking your mind. You have an opinion too! Use your message to help others achieve greatness. #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Chapter.3 "The Art of Omnipresence" Exercise: Where are You? Who are You? Who Knows You? To Make yourself Stand out you must commit and you must hustle. Steps to Omnipresence. • Who is the real you? Write it down. • Decide where you are and where you want to be? • Ask how You can standout from the crowd? • Who knows you? Are you sure? • Commit, commit, commit to hustle and be a RockStar. #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Chapter.4 "It takes the Whole Band" Exercise: Involve everyone you know. You will meet resistance to your goals and dreams from family, friends and professional associates. You must not allow this bring you down. Ask yourself: What’s the worse thing that can happen? Then say to yourself out loud: In 5 years who’s going to give a total shit. Feel better? #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Chapter.5 "Mentor is a Must" Exercise: ‘Reaching Up’ What do I mean by reaching up? The first time I spoke with Bob Crumley was by phone. I had a great time talking with him, savoring every morsel of wisdom I could out of a 45 minute conversation. I was pumped. I got a list of wisdom, things I needed to do to run my firm like a business and grow it. And that is how I would describe ‘Reaching Up.’ I was reaching up beyond my experience, my boundaries and pay grade. Even beyond my belief. People are afraid to talk to someone they see as better than them, or smarter, more successful. You have to remove those self imposed boundaries. You put the boundaries there, but all they do is limit you. Stop being afraid to ‘Reach up.’ Call a business person, big kahuna lawyer, hell call Richard Branson and ask them something that you want advice about. Reach up to them for help. #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Chapter.6 "Stop Making Excuses" I Challenge You: Ask yourself: What would you do if you could not fail? • Write down your answers in life and business categories whatever they are. • Prioritize. What are your top 5? • What is your number 1? Now what would it take to achieve it? Seriously think about this. Is it really that out of reach? Remember, you cannot fail. You cannot f##k it up. Why don’t you do it? Right now. What’s stopping you? Is that an excuse? Start getting a plan together. Talk to your collective about it. #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Chapter.7 Work Life Balance is Bullshit. It doesn’t matter where you are or what you are doing, bring your passion into every area of your life. Work Life Exercise. 1- Commit to getting up at 5am for one continuous week. Snoozers are Losers. Don’t hit your snooze button. Pop out of the sac when you hear your alarm. Once you’re up. Hit the road for a run, the gym for a lift, or Crossfit to start an awesome day! 2- Commit to working until 7pm for one solid week. Compare your performance versus previous weeks. 3- Commit to working Saturdays for one solid month. Compare your performance to previous months. 4- Eat well to be well! Eat organic if at all possible and lean cuts of meat, if you eat meat. Feed your machine quality food to achieve maximum results. 5- Set aside time for your family or significant other. You will find that even with your increased levels of activity towards your passion (work), you will be energized like never before. You will be more passionate towards your girlfriend, boyfriend, husband, wife, children. They will enjoy spending time with you. Have breakfast with the kids after your workout. Set aside a special night out to blow off steam with your boyfriend after a Saturday work-fest. A little side note: I love to steal time when other lawyers are playing golf on a Friday afternoon or a Saturday. It doesn’t even feel like work. You will find that your Saturday workdays will be different, special. You will get more done in less time. Enjoy! #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Back Stage Pass Chapter.8 Goal Setting and Planning. Chapter 8 is extremely important and here is how I would like you to start thinking about it. I want you to start thinking about your goals as if you have already accomplished them. The RSL Planner has been set up for this purpose and I recommend you to go the lawyer Greg.com website and get it. 1- If you are using a legal pad then write down your global goals. 2- Write down your top 5 goals you want to accomplish. 3- Put them down in the present tense, such as: “I have opened a McIntyre Law Firm in every city of over 30’000 people in the USA.” “I have a consulting firm that makes over ten million dollars a year.” “I am a best selling author of multiple books.” 4- Then in your daily targets, write them down once in the morning and once at night before you go to bed. In the morning I want you to write down what you are going to do that day. (I’m not talking about your hour by hour agenda), I’m talking of 6 important things you want to accomplish that day. These will be clearly directed towards (it could be monotonous things to do in the office) helping to chip away at accomplishing that bigger (present tense) goal. Shaping and crafting your global goals, I want you to consider using a technique I call ‘Backing Out Your Goals.” Do this with a friend, your spouse, buddy, co-worker, business partner but someone you trust. So here it is: 1-Think of a goal you want to accomplish. 2-Sit down across a table from your partner and talk to them about that future goal as if you have already accomplished it. 3-Have them play along as devils advocate but make it real, as real as you can. 4-Be as detailed as possible. It sounds simple but record this as you do it and transcribe it. This be your road map to that goal. You can place timelines on each section of the goal and you will find that ideas you never thought of before with regards to that goal, will suddenly come bursting into view. This is like magic once you get into it. #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Back Stage Pass Chapter.9 Discover the X Factor. This is extremely important and I think I’ve said that with every chapter but it’s true nonetheless. Discover the X Factor because once you narrow down your practice area your options really open up, you are no longer inch deep and a mile wide. You may have started out as a general practitioner but I’m going to tell you to narrow that down. The exercise is to write down: 1- Why you went to law school? 2- Why you’re passionate about the law? (Before you got tainted by the business of law and the grind.) 3- Why are you a lawyer? (Answer from the heart.) Narrow down the practice areas you are most interested in, then pick one. Write it all down on paper on as many pages as it takes, so you get the ‘why’ down. Why you do what you do? That will help lead you to your specialized practice area, whatever it is, figure it out. It will be hard to trim away all those other practice areas, to turn away income and narrow it down to one thing. That’s where you get down to the point in the X, then everything else expands out from there. Your hourly rate can go up or your fees can go up, your consult fees can go up, and you start to get real respect in one area of law, hopefully the area you are most passionate about. So, do the exercise. #RockStarLawyer #LawyerGreg
Just be yourself. Don't worry about the decisions. It is key to simply make them from your true, authentic self. You can always correct course later. #LawyerGreg @LawyerGreg #RockStarLawyer
You have to learn to delegate to scale and grow and that means giving up some control. This is hard to learn, hard to do but can equal more growth than you can imagine. Great chapter and great exercise for you. #LawyerGreg @LawyerGreg #RockStarLawyer
This is tedious, laborious, but oh so important. Complete this exercise, be great, read the book again! #LawyerGreg #RockStarLawyer
