In this episode of 100% Real with Ruby, I sit down with Gab Fundaro to dive deep into one of the most pervasive and misunderstood challenges women face today: body image and self-criticism. We uncover how our relationship with our appearance influences everything from confidence at work to our emotional well-being and even physical health. Together, we explore why external changes, like losing weight or changing your hairstyle, don't always lead to true happiness or improved self-worth. Instead, we focus on actionable strategies for breaking free from societal pressures, reprogramming internal narratives, and aligning with what truly matters. This episode isn't just about looking good; it's about living well and finding empowerment beyond the mirror. Tune in to hear the insights, struggles, and solutions that can help you rewrite your story and reclaim your confidence.Body image profoundly influences not only physical goals but also relationships, confidence, and emotional well-being.Self-criticism often leads to rigid rules that are difficult to maintain, exacerbating negative self-perception.Insight: Breaking the cycle starts with challenging negative self-talk and replacing it with constructive narratives. Recognizing this pattern can prevent self-sabotage.Changes in appearance, such as weight loss or new hairstyles, may bring temporary satisfaction but don't improve body image at a deeper level.Takeaway: Shifting focus from appearance to internal qualities fosters a healthier self-concept and enduring confidence.Attempting to control external appearance often stems from an inability to control life circumstances.Reflection: Building emotional resilience and focusing on values rather than control can create a sense of security and self-acceptance.Body judgments are learned behaviors, often rooted in cultural and societal expectations.Actionable Step: Identify and challenge these ingrained beliefs to reprogram your internal dialogue and foster self-acceptance.Confidence should stem from values and actions aligned with personal goals, not contingent on appearance.Encouragement: Define what confidence means to you and create actionable steps to achieve it in various life areas.Weight bias and societal norms create undue pressure to conform, reinforcing the idea that physical appearance equates to worth.Challenge: Reflect on the societal pressures you've internalized and actively reject unrealistic standards.Recognizing and sitting with difficult emotions without letting them dictate actions fosters psychological flexibility.Tip: Practice mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance emotional regulation.Misalignment between actions and values often results in dissatisfaction and reliance on external validation.Prompt: What small actions can you take today to align with your core values?Shifting to a neutral perspective helps counter toxic positivity and fosters sustainable growth.Exercise: Write down neutral thoughts about your body to practice reframing negative self-talk.Small, consistent actions build confidence and momentum for larger goals.Tip: Reflect on and celebrate one small win daily to reinforce positive behaviors.Unpacking the origins of self-judgment and societal expectations allows for intentional, lasting change.Thought: What beliefs about your body serve you, and which do not?Strength extends beyond physical fitness to include emotional and mental resilience.Suggestion: Identify areas where you feel strong outside of the gym and celebrate them.Establishing boundaries allows time for self-care and fosters healthier relationships.Action: Dedicate 10 minutes daily to a self-care activity and communicate this need to loved ones.

In Today's Episode of the podcast I chat with Julie Christie about creating engaging content, especially for family photographers. We discuss the impact of connection content, building trust with the audience, and the value of authority content. You'll learn how to develop a photography brand with a personality, appeal to introverts in business, and strategically navigate the balance between connection and sales content in your marketing efforts. The Big Ideas:Connection Content: Share glimpses of your values and personality without revealing private details to build trust and likability with your audience.Brand Personality: Create a photography brand that reflects your values and personality, emphasizing connection with the audience over price or quality.Introverts in Business: Market with integrity, emphasize empathy, and cater to like-minded introverts in your marketing to build trust and loyalty.Authority Content: Utilize website for authority content to address buyer's questions and concerns, efficiently converting them into customers.Implementation Plan:1: Create Connection Content: Julie emphasizes the power of showing your personality and values through connection content to engage your audience, especially for family photographers. This approach helps clients feel like they know you, which can be a strong factor in their decision to book your services. Photographers can harness this insight by showcasing behind-the-scenes snippets of their work life, sharing personal but not private anecdotes, or even their philosophy on capturing precious family moments.Exercise: Share a brief story or insight on your social media that relates to why you love capturing family moments. It could be a throwback to your childhood family photos, a recent warm interaction with a client, or why you cherish the candid in-between moments. This helps potential clients see the person behind the lens and fosters a sense of familiarity and trust.2: Showcase Authority: As per Julie's experience, authority content might not rake in high engagement but is crucial for conversion. It establishes you as a knowledgeable expert, which can be especially persuasive when potential clients are considering who to trust with their memories.Exercise: Write a blog post or create an infographic for your website that answers a common photography-related question you've encountered, such as "How to prepare your kids for a photo session" or "The best time of day for outdoor family photos." Include helpful tips that showcase your expertise and experience.3: Embrace the Learning Curve: There are so many advantages to the mistakes you make in the journey of growth as a photographer. For new photographers, this lesson is vital: being unafraid to make and learn from mistakes is what ultimately refines your craft.Exercise: Select a past photo that you're not particularly proud of and analyze it to understand what didn't work. IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR! No, not Christmas — the other most wonderful time: MONEY MENTALITY MAKEOVER SEASON! MMM is… such a… vibe, experience, revolution, transformation, and powerful f*ing course. And I am so in-awe and inspired by the alumni who I've spoken to this week — who have sent me DMs + left comments + recorded videos about what this course created for them and what they created through the course. It is truly such mother f*ing honor to do this work and facilitate this experience for people. So, obviously, today Team AF has pulled four riffs from MMM. Let's dig in: 1. MANIFEST IN YOUR SLEEP. Okay, who doesn't want to manifest in their sleep? Here is what I do when I am wanting my subconscious mind + all that is divine to move sh*t along while I am sleeping. This is so good. Will you do this tonight? Exercise: Write down what you want to step into, what you want to be worked out, what you want to embody, and how you want to live and be, what you want to understand more deeply. Ask for it to come through as you sleep. :) Simple, right? I can't wait to hear how this goes for you. 2. THE POWER OF YOUR DOMINANT VIBRATION. This is why you don't have to worry about being “low vibe” — No one feels like they are rolling in barrels of money 100% of the time — we all experience a variety of emotions and we should (we are human), but I find that as I do this work my dominate vibrations improve over time. These are the ways I feel without trying and the feelings I go back to in between all of the highs and lows of life. Want to practice shifting your dominate vibration? A few times a day intentionally shift to feeling better. Perhaps you get out your journal, write positive affirmations around money, say positive things to yourself around money. Just feel good in relation to money. Know these moments will add up over time. Remember: The more you feel good, the better. 3. RECOGNIZE THE SOLUTION. Ask for guidance and know what solutions and answers look and feel like for you. For me, it's an exhale — an “oh sh*t I love that idea” — an “why don't we do it that way?” — for me, it clicks. And then my job is to act on this info and move forward. We are all being guided all of the time. Can we trust the guidance? Can we trust ourselves? 4. YOU AREN'T BAD WITH MONEY! If you're struggling to trust yourself with money, here is one thing you can do. I love this exercise because it flips your fears on their head as you add up the evidence of what is actually more true for you and can continue to become truer and truer. You aren't bad with money, maybe you have less experience handling it in ways that feel good as you'd like to have — but you aren't bad, you are in practice and you are good. And you are getting… better. Okay, my loves! I cannot wait to see you in MMM. Enrollment is open now. Let the enrollment page answer all your Qs, and if you need us please reach out: support@amandafrances.com or DM me. :) Enrollment page: http://amandafrances.com/money I love you like whoa. Episode 64: Leaders Attract the Best Point 1: Remote work is here to stay Leaders need to recognize that remote work is here to stay for a significant portion of the workforce. Invest in technology, foster open communication, and create a work culture that values flexibility. Leaders who adapt and provide the tools and support for remote work will thrive in this new environment. BOOK: “The Four Hour Work Week,” by Tim Ferris It's not about punching a time clock, it's about helping people to be able to get their stuff done. If you breed a culture of people that are trying to skirt work and not get things done, it says more about you as a leader than it does about them as an employee. “There are no bad teams, only bad leaders”. Jacko Wilinks Be better at leadership and give your people a reason to be a part of your team. Point 2: Offer flexibility and adaptability Leaders should empower their teams to choose the work setup that suits them best. Encourage open dialogue about preferences Provide the necessary resources for each scenario Flexibility will increase employee engagement and retention Leaders find a way to help their people want to be a part of their culture QUESTION: Are you creating flexibility and adaptability? EXERCISE (Write it down): What parts of your job are the in-person kind of stuff and what parts are virtual? What percentage of time do you have to be with your people and what percentage do you not need to be in front of others? Help your superiors understand those percentages Make sure that your people that look to you as a leader are okay with those percentages as well. (Do your percentages match up with what the company, and your people, need from you?) Point 3: Embrace Technology Leaders must ensure that their teams have access to secure systems, collaborative tools, and effective communication platforms. You should be learning from young people on your team more than they are learning from you BOOK: “21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership” by John Maxwell - You have to make the connection before you can have people buy into your vision. QUESTION: Are you the kind of leader that people want to follow? Are you using technology in the right way? MO's Final Thoughts If you want the best people, if you want to attract the best, you are going to need to continue to change with the times. If you have stuff that you can have your people do remotely, give them the autonomy to do that. Let them show you how good they are. And, reward those who do well and get rid of the people who refuse to get on board and make those changes with you. If you make these changes, it is only helping them because this is the kind of work that people are expecting today. They would rather be at home or be on the move or whatever, and you as a leader just need to get things done. Why don't you just learn how to do both? That's the true Mark of leadership. A relapse could mean that you struggle with addiction (e.g., alcohol, food, drugs, etc.) or you have a relapse of dysfunction behaviors (e.g., lashing out, withdrawing, regressing, falling into codependent behaviors, etc.). When you have relapse, assess what has happened: How do you feel? What went wrong? What did you do? "I make a mistake" and not "I'm a mistake." One of the best ways to get better at honing your messaging is to write it a number of ways. And that's exactly the creative challenge I have for you in this episode. Take an idea, any idea you have, and write it in a number of ways. Start with a 5k word one, trim it to 2k words, then 1k words, then 500, then 100. So how you do and more importantly notice how much fluff you had in your 5k version. This exercise will make you a far better communicator in all areas (written and spoken). So try it out. Please share your experience down below or hit me up on social media @PhilSvitek. Lastly, for more free resources from your 360 creative coach, check out my website at http://philsvitek.com.
It's no secret that there is power in our words. What we think about ourselves, we believe about ourselves. But do we actually believe our personal truths or are we allowing our negative self-narrative get in the way of who we are called to be? You may be wondering how you can boost your self-confidence and how to take back the power in discovering your own truths. This week, I am sharing how we can build our self-confidence through affirmations. Affirmations are designed to create positive self-change within our lives. Honestly, affirmations are vital to self-improvement as they help serve us through inspiration and the simple reminders of our truths, usually in the form of “I am”. Topics Discussed: Defining affirmations to align us with our truths When to implement affirmations into our daily self-talk How affirmations help us build self-confidence Exercise: Write down 5 truths about yourself. I want you to write out 5 affirmations of whatever speaks to you in this moment. Once you have written out these 5 affirmations, I want you to declare these positive truths over yourself. Even if, and especially if, you don't believe them, place these affirmations where you can see them either in your car, all over your mirrors, or make them your background on your phone! The Prepped and Polished Podcast is an educational and inspirational show that offers tutoring and test prep tips as well as interviews with celebrities and leaders in education. It is hosted by Alexis Avila, founder of Prepped and Polished LLC, a tutoring and test prep firm for K-college. On today's show, Alexis talks Yulia Rafailova who is founder of Mind Full Education, a company that helps parents and their kids tackle a variety of issues that stem from executive functioning deficits such as: > Lack of engagement and motivation in academics/school. > Disorganization, losing important items. > Emotional overwhelm and anxiety. > Poor time management, planning, and prioritizing tasks. > Lack of study routine and skills. > Communication, asking for help, and self-advocacy. Yulia says that it's better to use the word TAKE ACTION (vs. motivation). The word motivated puts a lot of pressure on you. But taking action will lead you to take more action and feel more motivated! Yulia's Tips to take action to get better motivated in school: Exercise: Write down three columns on paper of goals that you need to get done and what you want to get done. In another column write down all the negative consequences if not reaching those goals In another column write all the benefits if goals are reached. Do this process daily, it will help you take more action. Yulia's advice for teens: Ask yourself what do you love to do, what are you passionate about, and what problem do you want to solve in the world. I’m going to open this one with a Tony Robbins quote. ‘If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get What you’ve always gotten’ We all want things to change right? To live our best lives, to be successful, to not let mindset gremlins get in the way of the things we want to achieve and to just feel happy and fulfilled. We all want that growth in our lives. When we don’t grow we become stagnant, you feel like you’re living the same year over and over. Or you’re frustrated that nothings moving forward in the way it could if you could just get out of your own way and get moving I mean all the evidence is there that it’s possible right?! But we’re all carrying on doing the SAME things and expecting different results. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way.You have to decide, you have to MOVE. Change Comes With CHANGE! If I hadn’t invested in myself and my own change and transformation I would NOT be doing what i’m doing now. There is literally no chance. I’d probably have less friends and an unhappy husband. I would be the same old Eeyore on a bad day driving my friends and family mad with my negativity. That negativity and all those negative thought processes and beliefs would still be 100% holding me back in my life. Stopping me from taking the chances, making me tell myself ‘I can’t’ or ‘I’m not good enough’, ‘pretty’ enough, ‘thin’ enough, ‘clever’ enough…or just ENOUGH. It would keep me looking for those excuses to give me a reason to quit before I could fail. I wouldn’t believe that I was capable of all the things I KNOW now that I’m 100% capable of. I wouldn’t have even TRIED in the first place. But I’d still be sitting there saying ‘why me’. Why does my life have to be this way? Looking at all those dreams I’ve had since I was a teeneager saying ‘if only’. I’d be WAITING for things to change, watching everyone else around me go after their dreams and using all the excuses under the sun as to why they could have it but not me. But changing nothing. In my behaviour, my beliefs, my thinking, nothing. Guess what, if nothing changes NOTHING CHANGES! Change Is Not Comfortable All change and all growth requires getting uncomfortable. In order to grow you HAVE to try and do new things. It’s a non negotiable in this. You CAN change absolutely anything that you want to about your life, your circumstances and even WHO you are. You just have to want it enough. An Exercise: In your journal write down all the things you REALLY want to do and really want to achieve. Then I want you to write down all the reasons you’re telling yourself you can’t do it or have it. Look at your thoughts, emotions, beliefs and things you are telling yourself are obstacles. Then I want you to look at that list and ask yourself, what small changes could I start making TODAY that would get me that little bit closer? Even baby steps are steps in the right direction but you have to take that first step. Have you had any opportunities recently that could have actually really changed things for you that you didn’t take? Why did you not take it? Write those down. Write down the opportunity you had, whether it was to meet someone that could have been an important influence in your life, or the business help you said no to because of the investment, or the speaking gig you said no to, the blog you didn’t write. What stopped you? What were you afraid of? Once you have that baseline fear, now I want you to ask yourself what scares you about that?! I want you to keep asking until you hit that ‘a-ha’ about what is ACTUALLY going on for you, the REAL fear. Scared Of Making The Investment? When it’s investments were scared of it’s very rarely actually about the investment at all. Often it comes down to a fear of failure or a fear of success and what that will actually MEAN for us, what saying yes to the help could bring into our lives. Or it’s that we fear we’re not WORTHY of the investment. But my darling, you are worthy of everything you want and MORE. When you want something enough you will find any way to make it happen. Decision + Action = Change Change is all about the ACTION you take! You just can’t sit there and wait for it to happen. You need to decide enough is enough and decide that it’s time. Ask yourself, how much do you ACTUALLY want it? How would you feel 6 months, 1 year, 5 years, 10 YEARS from now if you were still in the same place as you are just wishing that things were different and waiting for it to happen. You Will Amaze Yourself When you take that first step towards the change you want you will AMAZE yourself, I promise. I know. I’ve been there done it and got the t-shirt. Where I was was absolutely toxic. For me and for people around me and looking back it’s so clear for me to see that from that space, I NEVER would have been able to achieve anything. I would have been in a constant state of anxiety, negativity and self doubt…but also FULL of excuses and blame. That’s not a healthy place to be. An Exercise: Write down all the things you want to let go of in your life, your thought processes, your beliefs, your stories. Now write yourself a new one! What do you CHOOSE for yourself from now on. Awareness Is The First Key To Change I’m always saying awareness is the first key to change. We need to drill down on what you want to change and bring it right into your conscious mind. We need to get you walking TOWARDS your fears, not running away from them. Time for another Tony Robbins quote. ‘Change happens when he pain of staying the same is greater than the pain of change.’ It’s time to face your challenges head on. How bad to things have to get for you to take that chance on yourself? To decide to make that change? To invest in yourself and you future? It’s A Journey This journey can be REALLY uncomfortable, change IS uncomfortable, you’ll be confronted on all the negative aspects of yourself, all the things you try and ignore or suppress, all the mindset gremlins that want to keep you stuck right where you are because they think it’s SAFER. All those traumas and stories you’ve told yourself that are causing you to think the way you do and believe the things about yourself that you believe. It’s HARD at first, but it’s so SO worth it. You’re NOT alone in this. Truly you’re not. It took me over 4 years of trying to do it on my own and it does NOT need to take you that long. You just need to take that chance on yourself and lean on the people that can solve your problems. Remember, nothing changes until you do. You just have to simply make the DECISION and take the ACTION. So, what are you going to change? No... Because he had prepared for the difficult moments through visualization and fully understanding his WHY "I created total certainty in my mind. 100% that I was going to become a SEAL. I won in my mind." This outlook helped him finish #1 overall in his BUD/S class How can we apply this to our world? Outside of the military? You must deeply care about what you're doing... And then visualize your success. A "personal practice of excellence" "It must be something in your vision that you are really passionate about" "Visualize it as a completion. Do the deep self awareness work to "know thyself" "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for everything" "Derive your passion around purpose. Create your set of principles." Originally, there was a scathing obituary written for Alfred Nobel... It was meant for his twin brother, but there was a mistake and someone wrote it about him. It changed his life. He was not aware of how badly he was thought of... And he became known for peace moving forward. So much so... That they named a prize after him. How Brad Stevens and Bill Belichick have mastered the art of coaching Why the "hacking movement" is not good according to Mark There must be deep learning over many years to get to mastery level of anything Simplify = Be narrow on what you want, get rid of everything else. I want to have a bit of a chat about less being not more. It's AGAINST what everyone thinks about. What if you're like me and wanting to expand more, to be multi-passionate, to DO MORE? What if your messages means expressing it in multiple ways? What I'm realising lately is that something's missing. I worked out, I worked on the projects for my business, I wrote more of my book – and it was only 4pm. I was by the pool, and thought: my social life is missing. I'm in Bali right now, so most of my friends are stuck out of Bali with this ash cloud. I thought... when was the last time I had something random, exciting, terrifying and NEW to work on? Back when I was a personal trainer, I used to have idea storming meetings, or CREATION MEETINGS with friends – let's create a chocolate company! let's open a gym! – and even though most of the ideas didn't come to fruition, the purpose was unleashing the energy of being CREATIVE and DARING. Most people say relax, and slow down – I say stand the FUCK UP and DO MORE! To me, why would I live a life where I would just relax – if I could live a life that excites me?• Do something new – something that brings you joy• Listen to your heart, follow the sense of joy• Why not do something that's fun? • Do you want extra, free time – or do you want to do more exciting, fun things? EXERCISE:Write down the last time you did something just for the fun of it. When was it? Days ago? Weeks, years ago? What was it? Write down – BRAINSTORM if you have to – something you could do for fun, something that will enlighten you. Write down the next 3 steps you MUST take today to start.
