Send us Fan MailWe're joined by Ben Marshall from the YouTube channel Dad Cars to discuss why and how he got involved in the automotive world. It all starts with a Mitsubishi Space Wagon, a rare car, with 7 seats, back in the day but a car Ben would love to get his hands on, although they have all seemingly vanished from the planet!Following his parents split, his Dad got a sliver Mk1 Fiat Punto as a runaround, his Mum never passed her test, despite several attempts.Music wise, Bens Dad would listen to Fleetwood Mac and Queen.A pivotal car in his childhood was an S1 Lotus Elise which belonged to a neighbour, Ben would later re-live that ownership fantasy himself as an adult. At school Ben had a pal with a burgundy Jaguar XJ, it didn't have any seatbelts in the back, and his Mum let them run around with their t-shirts off in the summer, let alone climb up the scaffolding at his house. Today we are discussing Porter Peach Festival in Porter, Oklahoma. The Porter Peach Festival celebrates the area's legacy crop of peaches with a myriad of activities and events perfect for a summer day with the family. You can shop for fresh, juicy peaches, peach products and other produce at Livesay Orchards, located three miles south of Porter, then get your fill on tasty peach desserts at The Peach Barn, approximately seven miles east of Porter. On Porter's downtown Main Street you can shop at many arts and crafts vendors, enjoy street games, live music and taste a wide variety of fair food. Come out on Thursday for a talent show, while Friday's events include a culinary contest. On Saturday, there will be a peachy parade, free peaches and ice cream, and a prize peach auction. Porter, Oklahoma, established in 1903 along the Missouri, Kansas, and Oklahoma Railroad, is a historic town between Muskogee and Tulsa, known for its rich agricultural heritage and vibrant community spirit. Named after Pleasant Porter, a Creek Nation chief born in nearby Clarksville, the town was incorporated in 1905 and thrived with farming, ranching, and coal mining. Its fertile lands between the Verdigris and Arkansas rivers attracted settlers, fostering a bustling early economy. Despite a devastating 1919 tornado that caused significant economic loss, Porter rebounded during World War II, with its WPA building (now Town Hall) serving as a subcamp for German and Italian POWs who worked on local farms. The town's agricultural legacy shines through its peach industry, sparked by Creek allottee Ben Marshall in the 1890s. His award-winning peaches at the 1904 Louisiana Purchase Exposition cemented Porter's reputation, leading to the annual Porter Peach Festival, a highlight since 1967. This festival, still celebrated today, draws visitors with its celebration of local peaches, including a notable moment when Porter peaches were presented to First Lady Claudia "Lady Bird" Johnson at the White House. Porter offers a charming blend of history, culture, and agricultural pride, making it a unique stop for visitors seeking small-town Oklahoma charm. For more details, check local tourism resources or visit during the Peach Festival for a taste of Porter's legacy. This wee Andrew and Ted take a break from their Christmas movie block to bring you what they're calling "Breaking News" with their review of "Please Don't Destroy - The Treasure of Foggy Mountain". This Peacock TV original movie stars SNL writer alum Martin Herlihy, Ben Marshall, and John Higgins. Having said that if you're assuming that this a comedy then you would be absolutely correct and if you defined it as a sophomoric comedy move the front of the line. Now because it is defined as such don't hastily dismiss it ... that is until you've had a chance to listen to Andrew and Ted.

Enjoy this DIAH Classic today, featuring a brand new bonus segment at the beginning of the episode - a short interview with listener Malina and her mother Char. What inspired your journey to birth empowerment? For today's guests, Jazmin and Ben, their journey began in 2017 in Seattle following an ectopic pregnancy and miscarriage. It prompted them to do research and plan for future pregnancies in a different way. According to Jazmin, “It was my first experience realizing I had to advocate for myself with medical professionals, especially considering I'm a black woman, as many brushed off my concerns and pain as "normal."” Fast forward to Atlanta in 2018 when they welcomed their first daughter, Elyana. It was a 45-hour vaginal birth in a hospital. Jazmin says, “That experience inspired me to dive much deeper and do additional prep for my second birth (chiropractic care, Spinning Babies, pelvic floor PT, a hypnobirthing class, and the DIAH podcast, to name a few).” Then in 2020, Jazmin and Ben had a home birth with their second daughter Sareya. “ I experienced the fetal ejection reflex, had a retained placenta, and absolutely no tearing. Both of my births were empowering in completely different ways,” Jazmin says. Jazmin switched care providers with both births, something we go into further in the interview. Also, COVID-19 influenced some of the plans and decisions with their second birth. And we mentioned Atlanta, so Jazmin and Ben live close by! We're very much looking forward to hanging out in person in future DIAH events and gatherings.
