Tipp: Im Original schauen.

Kenny and Mike are joined by friend and regular guest Rev. Eric Folkerth to discuss the biopic film of Bob Dylan, A Complete Unkown. Directed by James Mangold, the film stars Timothee Chalamet as Dylan, Ed Norton as Pete Seeger, Elle Fanning as Sylvie Russo, and Monica Babaro as Joan Baez. Based on the book Dylan Goes Electric by Elijah Wood, A Complete Unknown opens as Bob Dylan arrives in New York City and begins his rise in the world of folk music, and the reaction after he became a folk music star when he decides to expand into folk rock music by "going electric." This new direction was introduced and decidedly rejected by the audience at the 1965 Newport Folk Music Festival, and is the climax of the film. As the film moves toward the Newport clash, it documents Dylan's struggle againstbeing labeled, boxed in, and controlled by the music industry as well as his initial fans. The film also shows Dylan's relationships with Sylvie Russo and folk legends Joan Baez, as well as with Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie. Episode Guest Eric Folkerth is Sr. Pastor of Kessler Park United Methodist Church in Dallas and is a singer/songwriter and blogger. Eric's website is ericfolkerth.com Faith Reflected: Expansive vs. restricted worship, experiences, and understanding of God. Worship Wars happen when individuals and groups get comfortable and set in their ways of worship and deny the validity of other expressions and languages of worship that may speak better to others. The benefit of a variety of ways of worship that lead to enriched understanding and experiences of God. Declaring and accepting purity of worship is a means to control the experience, theological understanding, and faith development of others. Luke 4 and the resistance to Jesus demonstrating God's love of and working for other people and nations. The early Church in the Book of Acts also faced this struggle of expansive experiences of worship and understanding of God.

In this week's episode, Emily and Olivia review the biopic A Complete Unknown, which focuses on Bob Dylan's life and artistry. They discuss their initial expectations, the film's portrayal of Dylan as an enigmatic figure, and the challenges of biographical storytelling. The sisters also delve into the film's editing choices, sound design, and the performances of the actors and if any will lead to potential for award. They also analyze the film's story arc and climax, ultimately questioning the film's thematic coherence and its representation of Dylan's journey as an artist. However, there is also something to be said that the film is able to introduce new generations to Dylan's music and legacy no matter how much we know or don't know about the man himself. A Complete Unknown was directed by James Mangold, starring Timothée Chalamet, Edward Norton, Elle Fanning, and Monica Barbaro and was theatrically released on December 25, 2024. As I note during this new edition of Collider Ladies Night, while watching a A Complete Unknown, during Monica Barbaro's first scene of the film, I scribbled down one note — “Monica — WOW,” and then proceeded to underline it quite a few times. She's downright electric as Joan Baez, the renowned singer, songwriter and musician who developed a professional and personal relationship with Bob Dylan.Timothée Chalamet plays Dylan in the James Mangold-directed film, which follows the all-time great from meeting his icon, Woody Guthrie (Scott McNairy), to becoming one himself. With guidance from Pete Seeger (Edward Norton), Dylan begins his rise in the New York City folk scene. However, the higher he rises, the more he feels constrained by the expectations of the folk community, constraints Dylan opts to demolish via a controversial and groundbreaking performance. With A Complete Unknown now playing in theaters nationwide and surging on the awards circuit, I got the opportunity to sit down with Barbaro for a For Your Consideration edition of Collider Ladies Night. During our 30-minute chat, we covered Barbaro's experience transitioning from dancing to acting, the project that gave her confidence she could make it in the film and television industry, how she was inspired by Tom Cruise and Arnold Schwarzenegger, and, of course, her experience making A Complete Unknown alongside Chalamet. A music biopic of one of the world's most renowned and enigmatic stars, Bob Dylan, the film covers the small but pivotal time in his life and career when he crashed on the folklore scene during the 1960s and made the controversial decision to switch from acoustic to electric in his overall sound. What did we think of Mangold's adaptation, especially compared to his other music biopic, "Walk The Line?" What did we think of his direction, the performances, the music, and craftsmanship? Tune in as we discuss these topics, its awards season chances, and more in our SPOILER-FILLED review. Thank you for listening, and enjoy! Check out more on NextBestPicture.com Please subscribe on...
