D.C. United's Christian Benteke grew up playing soccer in the streets of Belgium—where a nutmeg is worth more than a goal. As he got older, he refined a blend of skill and physicality that helped him net 23 regular-season goals this year, beating out Bouanga, Messi, and Suárez to capture the 2024 MLS Golden Boot. Although D.C. barely missed out on a playoff spot, they were in contention thanks to Benteke—who contributed to almost 60% of the club's goals this season. On today's episode, Taylor sits down with Benteke to talk about his soccer origins, the evolution of his game, and why learning new languages is so important on and off the pitch. Plus, Taylor breaks down the most dramatic Decision Day since 2014. Offside With Taylor Twellman is a Major League Soccer podcast, produced by Apple TV and Rain Delay Media. A good second half in the US Open cup results in a win. Yet, Atlanta United FC - Another Home Loss (3-2) vs DC United. Benteke scores a hat trick on Atlanta's own turf. Three straight "L's" at home, while the Head Coach Gonzalo Pineda asks for our patience. This season is about to slip into the history books. The time to move on is now and find a coach that can get us to MLS Cup with all this talent.
Abe Gordon and Garrett Chapman recap what started off as a promising night for Atlanta United who fell to D.C. United after a hat trick performance from Christian Benteke. No questions loom about what major changes could be coming to change the direction of the season.
Wonder of wonders, is NYCFC good now? A 2-0 victory against DC United would seem to press the question as Nick Cushing extends his lossless streak and Santi Rodriguez and Julian Fernandez both expand their accounts. We talk both goals, of course, plus effective team play, a broken-hearted Bakrar, Martens mania and the defense that contained the uncontainable in Benteke, and much more. Plus: Trey Goes To The Mayor, a site visit to the Valley of Ashes, and a goodbye to a wunderkind NYCFC transfer sleuth and twitter personality. Then: a quick n' dirty Charlotte precap for a big round two against size queens The Crown. Make sure to do your kegels — you've got Blue Balls.

Who wants to be second choice in their football club? Maybe former Liverpool super-sub, Divock Origi. But you won't find a lot of other players happy to be unsure of a starting berth in their clubs. With a World Cup tournament in the offing, players are looking for more playing time. And that's affecting a lot of other things. In other news, Edouard Mendy has made a 'strange' comparison between Christian Benteke and Erling Haaland. Sets us up for a tasty Chelsea-Manchester City clash this season, not so?
FPL General is back after a lengthy gameweek 23 finally drew to a close at the weekend, and it was a tough one for a lot of managers. We look ahead to gameweek 24 with the usual array of transfer advice, watchlist updates, and these questions answered: What strategy would you go for with ALL CHIPS left to use? How many hits is it worth taking for a Bench Boost, -4 or -8? What do you think of Free Hit GW26 and have at least a strong 11 who all double, as opposed to the crowd of Triple Captain Salah as a part of a chip strategy? Bruno. Salah. KdB. Ronaldo. Kane. Son. Which two or three do you see as the most effective from GWs 24-27? With so many premium assets back in form, is it "essential", especially structure-wise, to have a two premium set up, or is it still viable to perma captain Salah and spread the cash? Top 3 defenders to buy ahead of GW24 excluding Trent & Cancelo? Unlimited budget. Is Rashford a viable alternative to Ronaldo and Bruno as a Man United attacking option for the next two gameweeks? Are the Crystal Palace options worth a punt? Good recent underlying stats but mostly from home games…next 3 out of 4 fixtures are away… Is it worth holding the Watford strikers for the upcoming DGW? Is it worth thinking outside the box when looking for strikers? Benteke, Edouard, Richarlison for example?

This week Noz and Danny are joined by Barca Jim as they discuss the difference between between a GOAT and a BOAT, Jim's illegal pirated material, Salah vs Gerrard, father/son footballers, the problematic Beatles, why Jay-Z is the don, football's realest and fakest 'hardmen' and Chesterfield sticking the toe into Paul Scholes. Noz (aka @BeardedGenius) and Danny (aka @dannymccomedy) host the football podcast that's not about the football. No punditry, no analysis and definitely no xG - just good vibes, pure jokes and the juicy bits other football podcasts leave out. It's not about the game, it's about everything around it. The FPL General is here with team news ahead of gameweek 13, plus there's transfer advice, his team reveal and these pressing questions answered: Do you think Alonso is going to start in place of chilwell? In light of the Chilwell news, is Dias to Alonso worth the transfer if you already own the other big 3 wing backs? Assuming Chilwell is injured, is the best back 4 now: TAA, Cancelo, James and Alonso? With Antonio off form and Reece James ripping it up, is a -4 using funds from Antonio to upgrade Tierney to James a good move? After blanking in 3 games, is it viable to sell Foden and bring in a cheaper midfielder like Cornet or Gallagher in order to go big at the back? Son to Jota? Is Zaha a keep or a sell? Do you think Benteke will keep up his recent form? Given the circumstances, do you think playing 4/5 defenders, 4/5 midfielders and 1 up front is the way to go now, at least for a while? As a Manchester United fan, what do you think of the new manager? Will it affect your FPL decisions?

Liverpool know a victory over Crystal Palace today will almost certainly be enough to seal qualification for the Champions League - and 10,000 fans will be inside Anfield to cheer them over the line. So is there anything that Palace and their departing manager Roy Hodgson can do to stop the Reds? To answer that question, Matt Addison speaks to comedian, writer and Eagles fan Kevin Day for the final Behind Enemy Lines podcast of the season. They discuss all the big talking points heading into the big game, including the decision of Hodgson to call time on his Palace career after the meeting at his former club. There are plenty more Liverpool links in the Palace side, too, with Christian Benteke, Mamadou Sakho and Martin Kelly among their ranks. And, as Day explains, the form of Benteke is something Nat Phillips and Co will have to be wary of this afternoon.Shop the new Liverpool Nike home it here: https://tinyurl.com/yjhapeqt
