In 2011, James Grayson witnessed a turnaround in the fortunes of his local football club. In the first half of the season, Lincoln City had teetered on the brink of relegation from League Two, but then they sacked their manager, brought in some new players, and went on a tear in the winter, winning six games out of seven. Instead of writing about how his team had saved their season, Grayson, blogging from his BlackBerry, used data to ask a different question: had they really gotten better at all? In a few short posts, Grayson changed the course of public soccer analytics for a decade, or at least foreshadowed a turn the discourse would soon take. But why was he asking the kinds of questions he did? Where did they come from? It was an invasion.Blogroll: * James Grayson, James' Blog: The surprising form of Lincoln City: Part 1, 2, 3, 4, and Reviewed (February 2011)* James Grayson, James' Blog: Links and data (March 2011)* James Grayson, James' Blog: About the blog (April 2012)* James Grayson, James' Blog: Regression to the mean can be a b***h (ask the nearest Blackpool fan) (April 2011)* James Grayson, James' Blog: Predicting Future Performance - Revisited (October 2011) This is a public episode. Twenty years ago, Kris Vallotton had a vision about how his actions led to prosperity for his generations 100 years later. Since that day, he's lived his life from the perspective of eternity. His revelations empower other parents to do the same. Full SHOW NOTES for today's conversation Key Takeaways You can affect your future generations that are yet to be born. If you want to find a spiritual father, learn to be a son who can take direction and correction. When you discipline your child's attitude, you can help them avoid destructive actions. Key Quotes 23:17 - "Being a son and learning how to be a son, learning how to be teachable, humble, how to be a joy, how to be a joy to Father. We have a generation, right now, that's been raised by their machines and internet. They know their fantasy football team better than they know their reality God and the reality Father. We're in a generation that, honestly, I don't know if we naturally know how to be sons and daughters because we've been raised in this global orphanage of even if we have dads and moms, we're often disconnected, live in our bedroom and live on the internet. 24:54 - "When your father's missing or not available, what happens is that you don't know who you are because your dad's the one who's primarily, obviously, mom has a role, a complete role, but dad is the primary identifier of his children." It's almost time for PMMCON, so Brad is bringing on Marquee speaker Rob Hahn to discuss what his presentation at the conference will be like. They also talk about the real estate market in general and how it relates to property management, plus where his research is pointing to for the future and much more on this episode of the Property Management Mastermind Show. Listen, as Ron shares his bizarre journey to where he is today, and the real estate markets overlap with property management. Rob talks about some topics he will discuss at PMMCON, the wealth of data out there that isn't being collected, and the shifts he believes we will see in the industry in the next five to ten years. Rob discusses what is happening in the real estate and real estate sales, what happens if the Buyers Agency Commission goes away and the things he sees happening in the real estate market right now. Brad touches on some things about builders and how they have changed how you buy newly built homes. Rob believes that the real actionable stuff at the conference will be not what the speakers talk about, but what the attendees talk about and what you can learn from the people around you. Have you registered yet? Don't be late to the party; go to PMMCON.com to register. See you there! **Announcement** The Property Management Mastermind Conference is May 19-21 at the Gaylord Resort in Grapevine, TX. For more information, go to PMMCON. In this episode: [02:21] Welcome to the show, Rob! [02:28] Rob shares his background and the bizarre path to where he is today. [05:43] Rob speaks about the residential real estate market and the overlap with property management. [08:13] Rob says he is very excited to share his take on property management at PMMCON. [10:15] Rob believes there is a wealth of data out there that isn't being collected. [11:35] Rob thinks there will be some real shifts in the industry going forward. [13:32] Rob says that data is a commodity that powers everything. [16:32] What is going on in real estate and real estate sales? [19:09] Rob discusses what happens if the Buyers Agency Commission goes away. [23:22] Brad shares some things about the real estate market, builders specifically. [26:16] Rob speaks about the real estate market and what he sees happening. [29:41] One thing Rob will speak on at the conference is politics. [32:13] Rob says that most renters don't have any experience with the landlord; they have experience with the property manager. [34:26] The real actionable stuff at the conference will be to talk to the people around you. [36:34] Do you think property managers should have a license so they can be regulated? Dr. Parag Khanna wears many hats: as a strategic advisor & consultant to global companies and governments; a TED Talker, speaker, & world traveler with both data- and experientially based insights into a host of pressing issues; and an author. His most recent book, The Future Is Asian, discusses not just the well-trod “Asian Century” concept, but seeks to have a pan-Asian conversation to look at how the entire world is becoming Asian-ized. Dr. Khanna has been on a speaking & consulting tour through China specifically, and Yingying li caught up with him after one such event the other day for this interview. From there, he went on to speak with Liu Xin, host of CGTN’s “The Point”, who has recently become famous Stateside for her ongoing dialogue with Trish Regan from FOX News. His LinkedIn page reveals a widely varied background ranging from Georgetown University to the London School of Economics, with time spent as a senior fellow at think-tanks such as the New America Foundation to serving as a Managing Partner, Advisor, Founder, or CEO at companies from New York City to Singapore. Among his more personal interests are his roles helping smart startups that are focused on improving the health of and opportunities for kids, which I found especially notable. All in all, it was a great, valuable talk, and we look forward to doing another one in the future. BLOG & LINKS: https://www.howchinaworkspodcast.com/resources

CARL KING is a true polymath: someone who’s professionally good at many things. He’s a screenwriter, published book author, composer, engineer, director, producer, & more. Carl has worked with numerous legends in the progressive music and geek culture scenes, including Dweezil Zappa, Steve Vai, Kevin Smith, the late Jon Schnepp, Brendon Small, and many others. And among his massive credits list, Carl created our theme music! So since Carl’s work (with drums by Mike Stone!) is the FIRST thing you hear on this podcast, I thought it made sense to have him on as my LAST regular guest on the show, too. Wait - last show, you say? What!? More details in the show. Enjoy! BLOG & LINKS: https://www.crazyinagoodway.com/home/carl-king

This is one of the VERY BEST shows I've ever done: Simply put, JEFF MARDER is a world-class talent. He has established himself as an A-list Electronic Music Designer, keyboardist, and Conductor for numerous Broadway shows, tours, Cirque du Soleil, and the Radio City Christmas Show. He’s also the former pianist with the Harlem Spiritual Ensemble and toured the world with them for 6 years. In his spare time he’s a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practicioner, travel blogger and music tech guru. Jeff is also, like me, a Freemason, which is where our friendship began - and which I talk about in detail myself publicly for the first time ever, here or anywhere. This is one of the most candid and interesting talks I have ever had on the mic, and easily one of the most personal and meaningful shows I’m likely to release, too, so I really hope you check it out. I’ll do a FULL TRANSCRIPT for this one as soon as possible and publish that also. Please enjoy, share, rate, review, and subscribe wherever YOU get your podcasts, and enjoy! In this episode, Karenna talks to Dr Lora Shahine, a Reproductive Endrocronologist from Pacific North West Fertility in Seattle. As well as an IVF specialist, Dr Shahine is also the Director of the Center for Recurrent Pregnancy Loss and author of two books (see links below) In this in-depth interview, we delve into the whole range of approaches to recurrent miscarriage including medical, (TCM) Chinese medicine, lifestyle and emotional factors. We unwrap some of the confusion in this area and help you feel more confident in your next steps on your journey. We start by discussing the possible tests that can be performed to identify any possible anatomic, hormone, immune or genetic issues. Dr Shahine is keen to stress that in over 50% of cases an answer isn’t found from the tests and that the most common cause of miscarriages is a chromosome imbalance in the embryo. Dr Shahine then recommends discussing with your doctor some other approaches in early pregnancy such as taking aspirin or progesterone (a natural immunosuppressant), early ultrasounds and also for conception moving into IVF to enable selection of the embryos and elimination of genetic abnormalities. We also discuss research published by Dr Shahine that has shown a link between recurrent pregnancy loss and having diminished ovarian reserve so she encourages you to have your FSH and AMH levels checked too. It is believed that this is because the number and quality of eggs are lower with diminished ovarian reserve, leading to more chromosomal abnormalities and miscarriages. “Recurrent miscarriage can be a window into egg quality.” The interview goes on to discuss egg health and ways you can positively impact egg health through diet, supplements and reducing your exposure to environmental toxins and how a TCM practitioner can assist you to make these lifestyle changes and with specific supplements for you. Finally, we discuss the emotional aspect of multiple pregnancy losses and how women can often feel scared to try again, scared of tests showing a problem and scared of tests NOT showing a problem. We agree how important it is to build a solid team around you to support you on both the medical and emotional side. Dr Shahine concludes the interview referencing an excellent study that can help women and couples to have the confidence and resilience to ‘keep trying’ as the odds of achieving a healthy pregnancy remain high even after recurrent miscarriages. In this episode: What is recurrent miscarriage or pregnancy loss? The importance of grieving a loss What tests can be used to identify any possible medical reasons The most common reason for miscarriages Recommendations for trying again and early pregnancy How egg health and diminished ovarian reserve could be factors How TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) can help The importance of emotions in dealing with pregnancy loss and trying again Building a support team around you You may also like: EP11 - Finding ways to remember babies lost through miscarriage or late-term baby loss EP17 - Finding direction on your fertility journey (free meditation) Grief is just love with no place to go (Blog) Why is miscarriage still a dirty little secret (Blog) Links mentioned in the podcast: Your Fertility Toolbox - Free resources, tools and exclusive community for emotional support during infertility Dr Lora Shahine’s website and Instagram Dr Shahine’s excellent book on the topic ‘Not Broken: An approachable guide to miscarriage and recurrent pregnancy loss.’ ‘Planting the Seeds: An integrative approach to fertility care’ by Dr Shahine and Stephanie Gianarelli 1999 Brigham Study into pregnancy outcomes following recurrent miscarriages Connect with us on social media: Join us on social media for our Monday motivational posts and Friday funnies and so much more!
