This week's podcast episode with guest, Alyssa Brade, is packed full of insights into mitigating burnout as a Mother and Author. You'll come away with insights and strategies for your writing. You'll find yourself connecting right away with Alyssa's stories of motherhood that led her to write, Mommy Needs a Minute: From Burnout to Empowerment (this is an affiliate link, so if you click here and purchase you'll be supporting the Inspired Writer Collective). Alyssa talks about the exhaustion that comes with being a new mom and trying to do everything for everyone, and ultimately losing herself in the process. She was trying to navigate childcare while: working, going to school, maintaining a relationship with her husband, and managing her home. A traumatic experience involving one of her sons, and becoming very sick herself, led Alyssa to evaluate her priorities and where she needed to put her energy. She was exhausted from pushing hard, a feeling many moms can relate to, and it led her to share her insights about how to mitigate burnout and hold onto your identity with the hope of helping other moms not feel so alone. Alyssa wrote her book in 12 months and is a self-published author. Here are a few of her tips she shares about how she was able to get writing done: making sure she met a daily word count goal, writing even when she wasn't feeling inspired, choosing a time of day to write for an hour. The words Alyssa wrote were far from perfect every day. This is a reality of the writing process. It's not going to be your best writing every time you sit down. Alyssa emphasizes the importance of making the time to write. Even when you don't feel like it. Even if you're not inspired. Alyssa shares her experience with publishing and marketing her book. She encourages you to get started even if you're not sure what you're doing. You'll learn a lot in the process and what works for someone else may not work for your book. Alyssa goes on to talk about her struggles with entering motherhood and taking on that identity. It wasn't what she had planned for, but she has since embraced the joy of the journey. She continues to work on not losing her own sense of self as an Author. She shares words of encouragement to other moms and women about holding onto what you enjoy and not letting motherhood consume you. Also, that it's okay to grieve the loss of an aspect of your identity, and this should be normalized. The pressures of society often make many women feel guilty for how they feel about becoming a mom. You'll appreciate hearing the honesty and down to earth perspective shared by Alyssa in this podcast episode. It's real and relatable. Welcome back for the Young Terps postgame show, where we break down what went right and wrong in Maryland's 31-24 loss to Michigan, and what it means for the rest of the season and program. “I'm also proud of the way our team fought. I'm not up here to celebrate a moral victory at all, but you know what, to have a breakthrough win, our team played the script to a tee except the finish. And to me, down 20 and we still had a chance to win, our team continued to fight. We knew that we would have to take their best. We withstood the onslaught early in the first half,” head coach Mike Locksley said postgame. “Going in at halftime, we knew that coming out and scoring early and getting a three and out to get us back in the game, and we were able to do it. When you play a champion like Michigan, you've got to understand, they won't give it to you and our guys need to continue to understand that we're going to have to go take it.” Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa accounted for all three turnovers in the loss, while it was Billy Edwards Jr. punching in all three touchdowns on the tush push. Maryland clawed back from an early 16-3 deficit and were able to find success through the air, while Beau Brade led the way on defensive with a team-high 11 tackles including ten solo. Brade and the defense held up in the second half, holding Michigan to just 95 yards and three-and-outs in half of their possessions in the second half. But late blunders, and a questionable call late, put the game into focus as Michigan escaped with the win and making the Terps winless against the Big Ten elite in 2023. What does that mean as the fans evaluate the success of the season? We give our takes and more.To catch up on previous Young Terps episodes, you can listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Podomatic and YouTube.

In it Charlotte is dating a famous boxer. All is champagne and roses, until it's not and social media has a huge part to play. On Show Me The Way Scarlett explains how she came to write the book, how she got an agent, life imitating art as she'd had a relationship with a famous boxer which inspired the book, and her 'gal' group which got her through the break up. Back in Black. More Shane Black this week, with an understated classic in Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005). Adding humor to the traditional film noir story is done really well, plus the early seeds of a future megastar are planted in this movie. We also stop by Brade's Bargain Bin to reflect on Real Genius (1985). One of the early trailblazers of the college humor comedy movies. For some, this will always hold up.Subscribe, rate and review:Apple Podcasts: Our Film FathersSpotify: Our Film FathersGoogle Podcasts: Our Film FathersStitcher: Our Film FathersAmazon Music: Our Film Fathers-----------------------Follow us:Instagram: @ourfilmfathersTwitter: @ourfilmfathersEmail: ourfilmfathers@gmail.com
