Ever feel like you're crushing it on the outside while quietly falling apart on the inside? I know that feeling well, and so does my guest, Rebecca Lazzelle.Rebecca Lazzelle shares her journey from Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and senior corporate leader to energy healing practitioner, author, and retreat host. What started as a search for relief from chronic pain became a much deeper exploration of emotional healing, self-worth, and the hidden cost of always holding it together. After surviving a traumatic relationship, a domestic violence incident, PTSD, panic attacks, and the loss of nearly every external marker of success, she found herself facing a hard truth: achievement alone wasn't enough. We talk about the difference between striving and becoming, why high performers often hide their pain the best, and how healing rarely comes from one dramatic breakthrough. Instead, it comes from small choices made consistently over time. Rebecca shares how mindfulness, energy work, therapy, EMDR, writing, and self-compassion helped her rebuild her life from the inside out.If you've been carrying more than anyone knows, this conversation is a reminder that you don't have to keep holding it all together. Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is let go.Key Takeaways:A shocking turning point reveals how unresolved patterns can escalate far beyond what we expect. Why high performers often become experts at hiding pain while appearing successful. The hidden cost of "holding it together" and how it eventually impacts every area of life. A powerful distinction between achieving more and becoming more. The simple one-step approach that makes personal transformation feel possible again.About Guest:For most of my life, I was highly functional. I built a successful career in leadership and transformation work. I could manage complexity, guide teams through change, keep moving, and multitask, even when things were hard.Even before my personal life unraveled, I was drawn to efficient, body-based healing methods. The Emotion Code and Body Code appealed to me for the same reason process improvement always had: they work directly with root causes, not endless analysis. Then my personal life collapsed.I experienced domestic-violence-related betrayal trauma that didn't just break my heart. It broke my sense of safety, identity, and trust in myself. I understood what had happened cognitively. I went to therapy. I did "the work." And still, my body stayed on high alert. The anxiety, the tension, the looping patterns, the panic attacks, they didn't resolve. That's when the difference became undeniable.Insight helped me understand the story, but it didn't settle my nervous system. The somatic and energy-based work I had already respected became essential, along with other tools I discovered along the way. It supported what cognition alone could not: restoring safety in the body. Over time, my nervous system softened, physical tension eased, and old patterns lost their grip. I didn't become a new person, I returned to myself.Today, my work sits at the intersection of lived experience and embodied energy healing. I help people whose lives look fine on the outside but feel unsafe on the inside reconnect with their bodies, rebuild self-trust, and release patterns that didn't start with them through committed energy-healing work and intimate wellbeing retreats.Healing isn't just about letting go of physical discomfort; it's about remembering who we truly are beneath the weight of trapped emotions and trauma. I believe each of us deserves to feel light, connected, and alive; to be our true selves. My work is devoted to helping people rediscover and feel that freedomBook launch: July 9 ,2026Journal launch: July 16, 2026Her website: https://www.rebeccalazzelle.com/events24-hour US Domestic Violence hotline: 1-800-799-SAFE (7233)US Domestic Violence hotline Text: Text “START” to 88788Website: https://www.thehotline.org/You can also find a domestic violence agency in your area by searching https://www.domesticshelters.orgDomestic Violence Help in the UK: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/domestic-abuse-how-to-get-helpDomestic Violence Help in Australia: https://1800respect.org.au/violence-and-abuse/domestic-and-family-violenceAbout Rebecca:In 2008, I blew up my life in spectacular fashion. I left a cult, got divorced, and for a time, lost even the few people I had leaned on. I thought greener grasses awaited me. I was wrong. Despite building a wildly successful digital marketing business, remarrying and growing my family to four kids, I felt nothing but dread each morning. Then came what I now call Epiphany Town. It was that electric moment when I stopped defining my life by what happened to me and began building on purpose. That phase lit me up in a way I had never felt. Now I devote every ounce of my energy to guiding others through their own version of Epiphany Town. I help them find the barriers that are actually holding them back, finally let go of self-sabotaging stories, and leap into a life that is meaningful and deeply fulfilling.I believe each of us has a story to tell, a gift to offer, and a life worth waking up for. Whether your goal is to impact one person or a million, I am here to help you see your place, claim your voice, and live your life on your terms.https://rebeccamountain.ca/ Thanks for listening! Thanks so much for listening to our podcast! Send us Fan MailJordan Kapitanoff is a mechanical engineer by training and a transformation leader by practice. A graduate of Kettering University with a BSME and an MBA from Aurora University, Jordan built his career at the intersection of engineering, operations, and culture change. Over the years, he has consistently stepped into roles where systems, teams, and processes needed elevation — and delivered measurable results. At Bison Gear & Engineering, Jordan moved from Application Engineer to Innovator, and later to Supervisor of Quality Innovation and Sustainability Engineering Manager. There, he led initiatives grounded in A3 problem solving, DMAIC, and lean thinking — not just to fix problems, but to transform how teams approached quality and continuous improvement. He also launched a new innovation and product development consulting division inside the organization, demonstrating an entrepreneurial drive even within established companies. His leadership continued to evolve at G&W Electric and later at tmax Group, where he served in operations excellence and operations management roles. Across these organizations, Jordan focused on production management, lean process improvement, and aligning communication across departments — recognizing that operational excellence is just as much about people as it is about process. Today, Jordan is channeling that experience into entrepreneurship. As Co-Founder of CoForge Technologies LLC and Head Coach at Thinking Kap Personal and Career Coaching, he works at the convergence of operational performance and personal leadership development. With a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from Villanova University and service as a board member of The Association for Manufacturing Excellence (AME), Jordan continues to advocate for systems thinking, continuous improvement, and empowering professionals to take ownership of their growth. Middle management in hospitality is the critical connector between leadership vision and frontline guest delivery. Certified Speaking Professional Michelle Pascoe and leadership expert Hanna Bauer of Heartnomics agree: middle managers who make daily trust deposits, hold non-negotiable service standards, and champion psychological safety are the primary defence against team burnout and high staff turnover in clubs and hotels. What if the gap between your service vision and the experience your guests actually receive comes down to one overlooked role in your organisation? Subscribe to The Michelle Pascoe Hospitality Podcast on YouTube, Apple Podcasts, and Spotify. In this episode, Michelle sits down with Hanna Bauer, founder and CEO of Heartnomics, to explore why love and excellence are not opposing forces in leadership, and why the middle manager holds the heartbeat of any hospitality organisation. The conversation covers a critical truth: you cannot consistently meet high service standards without first acknowledging the human delivering them. As Hanna explains, love in leadership is not about softening standards. It means holding them with consistency, because inconsistent standards are not kind, they are confusing. The standard does not change to fit the person. What changes is how leaders communicate, support, and see the people upholding it. Michelle Pascoe has spent decades working with hospitality venues that confuse having standards with communicating them. This episode tackles exactly that gap, with practical insights on how to stop burnout before it starts, how to lead through rapid change without burying your team, and how to make the daily trust deposits that mean your people show up for the hard moments. Key Takeaways Middle managers are the human connector in every hospitality organisation, bridging leadership vision and frontline delivery in ways no system can replace. Love in leadership means holding consistent service standards without exception, because it is precisely that consistency that creates psychological safety and trust. Burnout in hospitality teams most often stems from misalignment, not workload: team members who do not understand the standard, or who feel unseen, disengage first and leave second. The trust deposit principle holds that leaders must make daily investments in recognition, communication, and visibility before pressure arrives, not during it. Rapid change adoption without the deliberate removal of old processes is a leading cause of team overwhelm and cultural breakdown in hospitality venues. 418 Mindful Presence Being mindful of our presence in the lives around us is an integral part of the human experience, whether it be for our own personal comfort and growth or to ease the lives of those around us. Though we all have our own unique reasoning and paths to walk, it is important to remember we don't have to travel alone and by working together we can all get to the finish line. In today's episode Sarah Elkins and Renée Smith discuss the importance of community in becoming the best version of yourself as well as the importance of developing our problem solving skills to always be able to take action. Highlights There is no linear path, take your time and find your own. Connecting with strangers through lived experience. Teaching others your toolset and learning others toolset so that everyone succeeds. Quotes "Being able to be present with them in a trusting way." "A problem is a gap between where you are now and where you want to be." "Maybe you don't have what you need to take action." Dear Listeners it is now your turn, I'm really curious to hear what was sticky for you in today's conversation. Whether you're thinking now about your presence, about how you demonstrate love and support and care for people especially those that are strangers, those that you might disagree with. I know how hard it can be, how challenging it is to feel love for people that have different perspectives than us right now, more than ever before. And I'm here to say that if you can allow that open moment where you express your own experience and they hear it and that you are sharing this to connect with them and not to change their mind, this leaves the door open for them to carry that forward. And, as always, thank you for listening. About Renée Renée Smith, MSOD (she/her) is the strategist leaders turn to when they want to make their workplace more loving and human. As the creator of Love-Centered Leadership and the Human Workplace EX Roadmap, she helps people and results rise together. The founder and CEO of the consultancy, A Human Workplace, and the non-profit Center for a Loving Workplace, Renée promotes loving workplace cultures, primarily through research, education, impact projects. She led award-winning culture work as a state executive and served in the Governor's Office as Director of Workplace Transformation for the State of Washington. Smith is a researcher, writer, and speaker who's reached hundreds of audiences in eleven countries, making the business case for love. She earned a Master of Science in Organization Development from Pepperdine University and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from the University of Washington. She lives in Tacoma with her husband Jim in a multi-generational household with her son and his family. When she is not traveling, she enjoys sculling on the Puget Sound, watercolor painting, and hosting dinner parties. Be sure to check out Renée's LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram! As well as Loving Workplace, Renée Smith Speaks, and A Human Workplace! About Sarah "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. The audiobook, Your Stories Don't Define You, How You Tell Them Will is now available! Included with your purchase are two bonus tracks, songs recorded by Sarah's band, Spare Change, in her living room in Montana. Be sure to check out the Storytelling For Professionals Course as well to make sure you nail that next interview!

In this episode, Hemish was joined by Karin von Hodenberg, VP of Quality at Monte Rosa Therapeutics.Karin has repeatedly built quality systems from the ground up across med device and biotech, and she translates that experience into practical, phase-appropriate guidance for early teams.Karin's journey is anything but typical: a business background, supply chain and Lean Six Sigma Black Belt training led her into quality at GE Healthcare and Philips, before moving into biotech with bluebird bio during rapid growth. She's since led in several startups and now at Monte Rosa, where she's implemented validated systems early and embedded a genuine culture of quality across GxP.She talks about the following:Why a non-traditional path (business → supply chain → Six Sigma) can be a superpower in Quality. From paper to validated eQMS: how bluebird bio migrated training & documents and why they verified 100% of records.Trigger points for moving beyond paper: signs you're outgrowing a doc control room and how to stand up DMS/LMS/LIMS early.Phase-appropriate, risk-based thinking: using data, science and regulations - without becoming a blocker.Making quality ‘cool': education, storytelling, and visible sponsorship from ELT.Leading without fear: replacing “inspection readiness day” with “inspection readiness every day.”Critical thinking over checkbox compliance: hiring, interview questions, and building the muscle across teams.Working with functional heads: cadence of 1:1s, being a partner (not a gate), and influencing through solutions.Roadmaps that breathe: Karin's 3‑year plan, quarterly outcomes, and how transparency sustains engagement in uncertainty.AI pragmatism in quality: where note-taking and drafting help now - and where human judgment still rules.Karin is a thoughtful, pragmatic Quality leader who balances compliance with business value - bringing people with her as she builds systems that last.Thank you Karin for sharing your incredible journey.Hope everyone enjoys the show!

My guest for Episode #324 of the My Favorite Mistake podcast is Trevor Schade. Episode page with video, transcript, and more Trevor began his career as a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt with a strong background in coding and process improvement. He consulted on business efficiency and outsourcing before shifting into real estate in 2008. After earning his license, he quickly built a top-performing team of 26 agents with zero turnover over five years. By leveraging a virtual admin team in the Philippines and innovative automation, Trevor's group generated over a million dollars in commissions. In late 2023, Trevor stepped away from leading that large team to focus on investing, advising, and teaching. Today, he speaks on topics including negotiation, time freedom, and real estate strategy, and he has launched Life Wealth courses to help others pursue similar goals. In this episode, Trevor shares his favorite mistake: jumping into a multi-level marketing business at age 19. The venture wasn't financially successful, but it transformed his mindset. For the first time, Trevor developed a daily reading habit that exposed him to classics like Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People and Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad, Poor Dad. Those books gave him a foundation in psychology, leadership, and long-term thinking that continues to influence his work. We also explore: How lessons from Nebraska football and martial arts shaped Trevor's resilience What Lean Six Sigma taught him about efficiency, quality, and leadership Why he focused on psychological safety and belonging to keep his team intact How he used outsourcing and automation to scale without burnout The importance of setting trajectories instead of rigid goals in business and life Trevor's story is a reminder that sometimes the most unprofitable ventures provide the richest education — if we're willing to learn from them. Questions and Topics: What's your favorite mistake? How did joining a multi-level marketing company at 19 shape your growth, even if it wasn't financially successful? Did you ever think about leaving earlier, and was staying too long its own mistake? What lessons did you take from Nebraska football and sports about resilience and bouncing back? How did you first get into Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement work? In what ways did Lean and coding skills help you scale your real estate business? What did you learn about leadership from running a 26-agent team with zero turnover? How did you create a culture of psychological safety and belonging for your team? Why do you emphasize inspiring people instead of “beating them over the head with metrics”? What role have outsourcing and automation played in your business success? You've said you set trajectories instead of rigid goals — what does that mean in practice? Looking back, how do you connect these mistakes and lessons to your current focus on investing, advising, and teaching?

At the heart of The Prophets' vision are “The 24 Essential Supply Chain Processes.” What are they? Find out, and see the future yourself. Click here In this episode of the Auto Supply Chain Prophets podcast, Beth Crowley, Chief Resilience Officer and president of the Crowley Group, joins hosts Terry Onica and Jan Griffiths to dive into the topic of resiliency and its significance in today's auto supply chain.Beth starts by defining resilience, explaining that it's more than just an industry term; it's the ability of organizations and supply chains to adapt and bounce back from challenges. The pandemic has heightened the urgency for companies to adopt resilient practices, and the data suggests that major disruptions are becoming more frequent. That's why Beth suggests that resilience should be woven into the culture, with everyone—from the front lines to the C-suite—playing a part in strengthening the supply chain.Reflecting on the common tendency for companies to prioritize immediate crisis management over proactive planning, they discuss how automotive culture often glorifies the "firefighters" who save the day rather than encouraging a resilient mindset from the start. Beth suggests that organizations shift this perspective by training an "army of problem solvers" and integrating resilience into daily operations. She shares practical advice for training teams, suggesting that even small organizations can identify recurring issues and use them as learning opportunities to build a stronger problem-solving culture.Beth urges leaders to invest in their people, build resilient processes, and rethink their view of contingency planning—not as a task but as an integral part of their organizational mindset. Tune in to discover how to turn resilience into a foundational practice that drives success for your supply chain!Themes discussed in this episode:Understanding resilience in today's automotive supply chainThe importance of organizations adapting to unexpected events and preparing for future disruptionsThe role of leadership in building resilient organizationsCreating a culture where all employees are equipped and empowered to solve problemsMoving away from a “firefighting” mentality to a proactive approach focused on continuous improvement and long-term resilienceRethinking contingency planning as an ongoing cultural practice rather than a one-time taskWhy investing in people and problem-solving training are essential components of a resilient organizationFeatured on this episode: Name: Beth CrowleyTitle: President, The Crowley GroupAbout: Beth Crowley's passion for Operations and Continuous Improvement runs deep in her family, tracing back to her grandfather's pioneering work at Ford during World War II.
