Rob had the pleasure of interviewing Courtney Hadwin on Tuesday, Feb 17th. You might remember Courtney from 2018's America's Got Talent?   She has since released some singles and a Christmas song (in 2024) and now she's releasing the first single "spellbound" off her debut album!   No word on when her full length album (of all new material) will be out but Rob did try to get some info out of her.. lol  If you've never heard of her you have to check her out.  She's a powerhouse on vocals and at the age of 14 she got the golden buzzer from Howie Mandel on AGT!   Her audition video got over 310 million views on YouTube! ***** A LITTLE BIT ABOUT COURTNEY HADWIN Courtney is a British pop singer and songwriter who first captured international attention as a breakout star on NBC's America's Got Talent at only 13 years old. Her unforgettable audition went globally viral, racking up over 310 million views and instantly establishing her as a powerful new voice in music. At 20, Courtney continues to astound audiences with her extraordinary vocals and unforgettably soulful performances, often prompting comparisons to the legendary Janis Joplin. Courtney's musical journey began early; as a self-taught artist, she spent countless hours emulating idols such as Tina Turner, Etta James, and James Brown while developing a unique musical personality. In recent years, Courtney has embraced independence as an artist, releasing several singles, including “Breakable,” “That Girl Don't Live Here,” “Call Me Back” and “Monsters”, each showcasing the evolution of her sound. Working closely alongside Kevin Bowe, a renowned producer from Minneapolis, Courtney has forged a creative partnership that has empowered her to express herself with authenticity. Currently, Courtney is in the final stages of recording her debut album. This highly anticipated project promises to blend a diverse set of genres, from pop and soul to blues and rock, all brought together by Courtney's show-stopping vocal presence.  ************ KNOW GOOD MUSIC can be found almost anywhere you listen to podcasts including Podbean (host site), Spotify , Apple Podcasts, Iheart Radio, Pandora and YOUTUBE Links to more sources at Link Tree - www.linktr.ee/knowgoodmusic  Help support our Podcast by purchasing some cool merch: https://www.teepublic.com/user/knowgoodmusic Visit our YouTube Channel where you can see video segments from all of our interviews.  Just search "know good music".   All AUDIO versions are also available on YOUTUBE! A Word With You
Supermen Are Breakable - #9819

A Word With You

Play Episode Listen Later Aug 29, 2024

So there have been several Supermen, well, you know, men who have played Superman over the years. From TV to all the movies. The first one was George Reeves, on the TV show many years ago. Some supermen have had tragic lives. George Reeves who played Superman from 1951 to 1958 actually committed suicide after his career had stalled. He was forever typecast as Superman. Then another actor, Christopher Reeve, who played Superman in five films, became paralyzed in 1995 from an equestrian accident where he was thrown from his horse. These actors played the part of a man who was invincible, but "behind the role" was the awful reality. I'm Ron Hutchcraft and I want to have A Word With You today about "Supermen Are Breakable"! Actually, many men have discovered that fact in their own lives. Our half of the human race has been raised to believe that we've got to be super men. The world thinks we've got it together; we feel no pain, we've got it under control. But as a man, you know there's a "real you" behind the part - a wounded warrior; maybe bleeding a lot on the inside; maybe a scared little boy underneath a mask of macho confidence; and you don't have it all under control. Superman, in reality, is breakable or broken. Our word for today from the Word Of God introduces us to a "Superman" of another time and the dark secret that was beyond all his "Superness." 2 Kings 5:1 - "Now Naaman was commander of the army of the King of Aram. He was a great man in the sight of his master and highly regarded because through him the Lord had given victory to Aram. He was a valiant soldier..." Okay, this guy was a "Superman" of his time, but he had a secret, a dark secret: he was dying of leprosy. In verse 3, one of his servants said, "If only my master would see the prophet who's in Samaria. He would cure him of his leprosy." So Naaman goes for that cure, but it requires humility. He didn't like the cure prescribed: he had to wash in the dirty Jordan River. He says, "Couldn't I wash in one of the streams back home and be cleansed?" It says he went off in a rage! He was proud, and he was dying from it. Finally, he chose to be well rather than be in charge. In chapter 5, verse 14, it says, "He dipped himself in the Jordan seven times, as the man of God had told him, and his flesh was restored and became clean like that of a young boy." I wonder if God brought us together today because He knows you're a modern day Naaman. He knows the dark spot behind the mask and He wants to cure it. But you first have to accept His diagnosis and His cure. The diagnosis is that you've got terminal spiritual cancer. It's called sin! No matter how religious, no matter how respected you may be, you've broken God's laws and you've run the life that your Creator was supposed to run and your "my way" of living has left you fatally separated from God. The cure requires humility - the admission that you cannot save yourself - and then a trip, not to a dirty river, but to a dying Savior's cross. There you say, "Jesus, it's my sin You're dying for, isn't it? I need to be forgiven. I need a Savior. I can't be my own savior, I want You as my savior. I belong to You from this day on." The result - the same as it was for Naaman: you're restored, you're clean, you're new! Haven't you run from Jesus or put Him off long enough? Let this be the day you run to Him! Discover in the man Jesus, who walked 33 years as a man. He gets us guys. When you discover in Him all the love and all the power that has eluded you, all the peace, all the fulfillment, all the worth and the ability to change what you could never change, you discover that when you get to Jesus and say, "Jesus, I'm Yours." This could be your day to get started with Him. Will you tell Him, "Jesus, I'm Yours." It'll change everything. Go to our website. I think it'll help. It's ANewStory.com. Superman really is breakable or broken. Don't make that eternally fatal mistake of being so proud you die from it. Your Savior is waiting!

REPLAY THURSDAY: A friend of mine once said to me, "If you don't like my cooking, lie to me." She was just kidding, but it reminded me how easy it is for us to pick and choose when we're going to lie or tell the truth. Lying is habit forming, but it is also a breakable habit. When we know better, we can do better. God can help us to remove this habit from our lives, but we will need to ask for His help and yield to His Word. "Remove from me the way of lying: and grant me thy law graciously." (Psalm 119:29) NEW IN THE SHOP AT KEEP THE HEART! Apply: Living What We Learn--A 31-Day Devotional by Francie Taylor

Have you ever told a “little white lie?” This phrase refers to "lies that are told about small or unimportant matters to avoid hurting a person.” "White lies" are a manmade concept, and they sound like these examples: Your friend comes out of the fitting room in an outfit that's too tight. She asks you, “Does this fit alright?” You say yes, even though your mind is screaming, “That's waaaaay too small.” Or maybe you've been served something for dinner and you really hated it, but you didn't want to hurt the feelings of the hostess, so you lied and said, “This is really good!” That earned you a second helping. Oh oh. Or perhaps you've had a run-in with someone that's still unresolved. The other person asked you, “Is everything okay between us now?” Your mouth said, “Yeah, we're all good,” but your mind said, “Not even close.” You're trying to avoid confrontation and conflict, but you're not telling the truth. Lying is a tough habit, but it's a breakable one. Let's consider three ways we can begin to get rid of this ugly habit. Bible studies, Bibles, Books & More in the Shop at Keep the Heart! On today's episode of “Buck Off with Christopher Renne,” I am joined by Jordan Williams, and we get into Ohio State's most breakable 2022 records and some of the recent NIL news around the football program. To start, we discuss the announcement of Ohio State NIL fund The Foundations $1000 entry event to meet Ryan Day and Chris Holtmann. We talk about the amount of money that goes into running a football program in the modern age. Then we get into a conversation about how people in charge can not be mad at boosters because they had every opportunity to provide safe guards before the supreme court ruling. After that we get into a discussion about the ACC, SEC, and the B1G media days that are happening this week and next week. The B1G meets next week so we discuss the big conversation topics that might get brought up. We talk about the most interesting stories out of the SEC and ACC including a lot of sports business talk in regards to the TV deals. We also discuss the leverage of each conference in their current states. Once back from the break, we get into jersey numbers and then we get into a long conversation about the records we think will be broken next year. Outside of single game records we narrow the focus down to offense and talk about why C.J. Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba can rewrite the record books. To close out the show, we get into our SEC preview going through all our categories. We talk about why Alabama and Georgia are still the favorites to win the conference. The rest of the conference is playing catch up and we discuss if there are any real threats. We close out the show with a PTI style Big Finish to go through the biggest storylines for the SEC entering the season. We live in jars of clay. But we are not the clay. We are born again by the Spirit of God through the blood of Jesus the Anointed One. He put to death our sins and shortcomings when he died a criminal's death. He buried our sins in the Earth and remembers them no more. When He arose triumphant over death, He made us forever alive and incorruptible.Yet here we are. Eternal souls in jars of clay. Fragile. Brittle. Breakable. Sometimes broken. Sometimes destroyed and forgotten. But the real you, the real me, we live on and wait to raised to new life with Him forever. This week, we introduce you to a dear friend who's temporal dwelling is in jeopardy because of widespread cancer. We believe in the power of God. We believe He is Almighty, Un-opposable, and Unstoppable. And we pray for His intervention and healing for our friend Adam. But only God knows for sure what He will do, and we trust Him no matter what because we win either way.The apostle Paul said, "For to me, to live is Christ. To die is gain." It's a win either way.But I don't want to lose my friend yet. I don't want his wife or children to lose him yet. It's beyond hard. It's a soul-crushing ache like trying to stand against a Tsunami.Yet that is what we do through the Holy Spirit of our Savior. We stand calm in the storm.Thank you for listening.
