Avant Gardner, home of The Brooklyn Mirage, is truly one of the most spectacular venues in the world, and the innovation isn't done yet. In this episode, we dive deep into the wild transformation Brooklyn Mirage is undergoing—possibly on the level of an East Coast Sphere (while still being its own thing). The new CEO joins my podcast to share plans for the future and to reflect on some harrowing mistakes made at the last Electric Zoo festival. I loved Josh's approach: take feedback head-on, make peace, commit to changes, follow through, and keep going.(00:17) – Josh reflects on his first season as CEO of Avant Gardner and Brooklyn Mirage, and on the background that led him to this incredible opportunity(04:18) – A breakdown of the executive team, the origin story, and the vision behind one of the most otherworldly music venues in Brooklyn(13:35) – Pushing the boundaries of what a venue can be: the grand vision of the new Brooklyn Mirage, potentially the “Sphere of the East Coast” or something totally unique—kicking off with two sold-out Sara Landry shows(23:57) – Learning from failures and facing criticism and bad press head-on: what happened with Electric Zoo, reaching a settlement with vendors and fans, and how the company plans to rebuild for the future.(39:30) – Fastball questions: the staffing required to run Avant Gardner and Brooklyn Mirage, the software tools used to ensure smooth operations, acquiring Made Events, and the ultimate goal of becoming the most innovative, forward-thinking live electronic venue in the United States. Please share this with anyone that might be interested in the topics, links below to subscribe and stay in the loop with the podcast and Prism:Subscribe hereMore on Avant Gardner & Brooklyn MirageMore on PrismFollow us on Instagram (@prismfm)Follow us on LinkedIn (here)Meet the Podcast Host/CEO of Prism -Matt FordOpening Music - Banana Bread - Layton.rx (Prism engineer!)

Get up and get informed! Here's all the local news you need to start your day: New York Governor Kathy Hochul says she paused congestion pricing because the tolls for cars driving into Manhattan would hurt the city's economy and deter people from coming into Midtown. But MTA Chair Janno Lieber says that's categorically false. Meanwhile, employees and vendors of the Electric Zoo music festival on Randall's Island say the festival owes them nearly $1 million. Plus, a proposal for a massive 2-million-square-foot warehouse on the site of an old explosives plant in Morris County, New Jersey, is on hold after the company behind the project withdrew its plan amid zoning negotiations.

BEST OF TST: Over the last seven days singers Jimmy Buffett and Steve Harwell passed away, a music festival called Electric Zoo spiraled into chaos after reaching capacity, and the Burning Man festival was inundated with rain and mud. Buffet died September 1st and Harwell on the 4th; Electric Zoo and Burning Man deteriorated over Saturday the 2nd and Sunday the 3rd. Last Tuesday was also the anniversary of Princess Diana's death - August 31, 1997. What makes this all peculiar and perhaps more than just the algorithmic cycle of parallel news stories is that Princess Diana's death on the 31st, all those years ago, took place on a day considered by many to be an inverted, or Satanic, version of what is normally celebrated on August 13th. On the Ides of August the ancient Romans celebrated the FESTIVAL OF TORCHES or Nemoralia in honor of Diana. It usually took place on a LAKE. But on August 31 Diana becomes Hecate in the underworld when her light is extinguished and her waters dry up. The inversion of the torches themselves also do not extinguish them, as they go on to illuminate the infernal. How interesting is it then that Burning Man, which culminates with the burning of an effigy of the ‘man', takes place on a dried up ancient lakebed between August 27 and September 4, when attendees leave. This means that Burning Man is essentially a seven day festival and that August 31 falls dead in the center of the event. The festival location itself is called Black Rock City, in northwestern Nevada, a name which has incredible occult significance, but particularly in relation to Hecate because her ‘color' and stone are black obsidian - black rock. This year the dried up lakebed was refilled with flood waters that prevented 70,000 people from leaving. The flooding began on Saturday, the day of Saturn or Hecate. But this still didn't stop festival goers from burning the man under the moon on Monday, or moon-day, night, the day of Diana. All of this may therefore sound far more than just a fun ritual of music, camping, and some fireworks. Instead, it sounds like the death of major celebrities at the start and finish of a weekend of disaster and chaos, which just so happens to have very strong connections to ancient festivals of fire, lakes, the underworld, black rocks, and sacrifice. Even more disturbing is the reported and then scrubbed supposed case of ebola at Burning Man this year, a condition in which the person has black vomit. With the excessive trash left behind by festival participants, the famous use of drugs and sexual debauchery, and the like, Burning Man is nothing more than a ritual honoring of the sacred black stone and the witch-goddess Hecate. Travis Scott also announced this weekend, on September 1, his first world tour since the Astroworld disaster. The tour is called Utopia and aims to open up a New World.-FREE ARCHIVE & RSS: https://www.spreaker.com/show/the-secret-teachingsTwitter: https://twitter.com/TST___RadioFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/thesecretteachingsWEBSITE (BOOKS, RESUBSCRIBE for early show access): http://thesecretteachings.infoPaypal: rdgable@yahoo.comCashApp: $rdgableBuy Me a Coffee: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/tstradioSUBSCRIBE TO NETWORK: http://aftermath.mediaEMAIL: rdgable@yahoo.com / TSTRadio@protonmail.com

From the opening track of this mix, you know you're in for a ride. 'Dance Dance' is an edit of an old Bollywood classic SAQIB made with Haider Uppal. Its the lush groove sets the tone for a 90-minute dance of deep-fried disco that flirts with main room prog in the most analogue way.

Hailing from Pakistan, the now Brooklyn-based DJ is an ardent student of music, an arc that includes playing heavy metal bands in Lahore on the way to studying electronic music production in New York (Rutgers University, Point Blank Music).

Today, he's signed to labels including Flying Circus and Sol Selectas alongside DJ bookings at Electric Zoo, Cityfox and The Brooklyn Mirage. Upcoming shows include supporting BLOND:ISH at Industry City in NY, which follows his recent Nino Torres remix on his own Beat in Time imprint. All signs, of course, that arc is still rising. Featuring tracks from Maceo Plex, Nick Curly, Piemont, Rigopolar, and more, this is a lively adventure into SAQIB's splendid yet slightly psychedelic world. @saqibmalik

Over the summer, New York's premier EDM festival Electric Zoo descended deep into the Fyre Fest zone—that magical place combining blatant rip-off and profoundly unsafe conditions. Purchased by by owners of Brooklyn mega-club Avant Gardner the previous year, the latest edition of the three-day rave took the Bold and Forward Thinking step of mixing abrupt cancellations and incredibly poor crowd control with rampant overselling, producing a potentially deadly crowd-crush and an NYPD investigation. Fascinated and horrified, we decided to dig a bit deeper to figure out…who ARE these guys? And what in the name of Frankie Knuckles is their deal? As we dug into the often insane specifics (Superfund Halloween Rave, Best Friends With Mayoral Staffers, Etc.), we realized that the question shed light on a deeper issue: as dance music and nightlife become big business, how do are events and venues balancing the desire for profits and the demand for safety? And could the finance money pouring into the space change things for the worse? Read:  Clubbing is Becoming Big Business. Sara and Danny bid a sweaty farewell to summer with a roundup of some recent festival fiascos and one coming down the pipeline. First up is Burning Man, the week-long festival in the Nevada desert, where each year participants erect (and fully dismantle) Black Rock City. This year, an unexpected rainfall of extreme proportions created a disastrous level of mud, and 70,000 people were subsequently trapped there and forced to shelter in place. Next, NYC's Electric Zoo festival became a massive organizational nightmare, leaving thousands of ticket holders stuck in never ending lines. 9/6/23 - Madness is like Gravity: Puppets, Sheep & Cash Cows

The Secret Teachings

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 7, 2023 120:01

The Joker said that “madness is like gravity; all it takes is a little push.” All throughout the world, and especially in the United States, we are witnessing a growing divide between civility and barbarous behavior. From flash mobs robbing stores and mobs attacking people on the street, to social media challenges, and even the lack of basic ‘concert etiquette'. It seems as if it is not only our culture or social institutions but our very minds and bodies too that have been contaminated with something perverse and putrid. From the Fukushima water dump into the ocean this month to Maui and Burning Man. We are watching the pink turn black, i.e., nature, love, etc., being inverted and burned away. The paradise of Maui was scorched with fire and then officials planned to spray it with a pink plastic coating. The pink salty desert of Black Rock, where Burning Man takes place, was scorched with brown and black mud from flooding. These are microcosm of contamination; of alchemical mutation rather than transformation. It's the same theme we saw in Barbie with the Saturn Sigil and in Oppenheimer with the Jupiter Sigil. In fact, Deborah De Luca, a DJ at Burning Man, also wore the Jupiter Sigil while she played over the weekend. This barbarous behavior is a de-evolved mankind, birthed from the blackness of the womb and pinkness of the birth canal. That birth is of a new man, less evolved, more angry, and driven by radical and dangerous ideologies, as well as a general lack of values. It is no coincidence then that Burning Man's theme this year was ANIMALIA, the animal, or that the Electric Zoo festival was turned into chaos when attendees stormed the gates like feral or caged animals. Even all the roads into Burning Man were named after cryptids like the Kraken - which is also a disease variant. This behavior is also exemplified by the concept of ‘crazy barbie' who is played with too hard by Lovecraftian beings, i.e., humans, in another dimension beyond the torn membrane separating universes.Something is making us crazy, be that ideology, lack of education, or pop-culture. Something is turning us into beasts, dragons, and monsters. All the drugs, sex, bizarre art, and energy transfer at Burning Man, not to mention the giant burned effigy, is equivalent to an Aleister Crowley magic ritual, or something akin to a black mass offering. The fact that this occurs in a desert, like the Trinity bomb test, is further indicative of its ritual and magical nature. The same debauchery is encouraged at every level of our society. And it opens the body and mind to the same forms of possession. Then when you step outside of these popular culture themes and topics you find people like Taylor Swift who has a phantom piano, fans chanting 'summon the demons', UFO sightings over her concert, and people leaving with ‘post-concert amnesia'. In fact, many swifties are having out-of-body experiences or entering into dream-like states - the name of Burning Man in 2022 was ‘Waking Dreams', which featured pink smoke, DNA, and an eyeball Saturn Sigil. Taylor Swift's current tour is also called Eras, like the goddess of discord and also another variant like Kraken. Taking a look at other ultra-famous artists like Dojo Cat make the picture a lot clearer. Her songs ‘Paint the Town Red' and ‘Demons' are not metaphors and they are not for shock value - a shirt that reads ‘feral', armbands of reversed pentagrams, blood sacrifice; the pulling back of the white veil and demonic possession in a bathtub of black goo.Doja Cat also announced her new album 'Scarlet' with a red spider in August, just a few weeks after AHS announced the new season 'Delicate' which features birth and spiders. These lyrics, songs, and images are sincere rituals intended to steal through vampiric means people's currency in the form of attention and money. This is also not the Satanic Panic 2.0, but instead a result of our collective loss of culture, values, morals, ethics, responsibly, etc. Therefore, people are losing their minds, becoming animals, and BEASTS, and the elite priestly class, that uses these celebrities as dolls, is openly and proudly showing what they believe in and have faith in.This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement

9/5/23 - Burned out Man: Burn the Man Save the Witch

The Secret Teachings

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 6, 2023 120:01

Over the last seven days singers Jimmy Buffett and Steve Harwell passed away, a music festival called Electric Zoo spiraled into chaos after reaching capacity, and the Burning Man festival was inundated with rain and mud. The tour is called Utopia and aims to open up a New World. This show is part of the Spreaker Prime Network, if you are interested in advertising on this podcast, contact us at https://www.spreaker.com/show/5328407/advertisement

Native to Greensboro, NC, but currently settled in Denver, CO, Mike Hayes has gravitated towards an innate musical influence since an early age. From playing a range of instruments to writing music, production instinctively came next in his individual progression, leading to the emergence of the HEYZ project. Promptly garnering interest in his palatable dance floor techno from top labels such as deadmau5's mau5trap following his introduction to the electronic scene in 2018, HEYZ eventually began leaning into a more bass-heavy approach. Comfortably finding his footing in unfamiliar territory, HEYZ' avant-garde take on bass music immediately cemented its rightful place, quickly attracting attention from all quarters of the community. Narrowly bordering the line between a contemporary and nostalgia-inducing sound, HEYZ has since released on a number of critically acclaimed labels, including Circus Records, Bite This, Lowly, and Deadbeats, only further confirming his natural ability to appeal to a wide scope of audiences. Hand in hand with his skyward trajectory, HEYZ has also built an increasingly substantial fanbase through alternative channels such as TikTok, where he predominantly broadcasts his likable comedic personality. Firm in his whimsical ideology, he translates this seamlessly to the musical realm through his growing discography and live settings. With performances at large scale festivals across the nation among the likes of Electric Zoo, Imagine Music Festival, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and many more, HEYZ remains steadfast in his endeavors, proving his longevity in the dance arena.    To listen, visit: https://bit.ly/3Oj83Gx This episode was brought to you by VitaPlur & Lunchbox Packs. Christopher Wilson, aka Riot Ten, exploded into electronic music at the age of 22 with his unique blend of dubstep, trap, and electro. Inking his first deal with DIM MAK Records in early 2017, Riot Ten's music has been supported and co-signed by the likes of DJ Snake, The Chainsmokers, Porter Robinson, Excision, Zed's Dead, Steve Aoki and many more. He has also released music on Interscope, Atlantic, Never Say Die, and Bassrush Records to name a few.  Riot Ten's 2016 single "F*ck It" topped the dubstep charts for many consecutive months and became a staple on The Chainsmokers "Memories Do Not Open" tour. This cross-genre success paved the way for "Rail Breaker", his 2017 global smash, to become one of the most recognizable and infamous dubstep songs of the decade. However, the El Paso, Texas native refused to rest on his laurels. Following this success, it was off to the races, officially, and it was only the beginning. Riot Ten put out his debut EP "The Dead" in 2018, which recorded a top 10 debut on the iTunes dance charts and a #1 Beatport top 100 spot. He went on to release 2 additional EPs in 2018 and 2019, securing his presence in some of Spotify's top electronic playlists, including Beast Mode, Hype, Fresh Electronic, and more. With an undeniable groundswell underway, and no signs of slowing down, Riot Ten was fast becoming a rising star in bass music. He has now recorded and released two albums since 2020, while simultaneously releasing a string of singles and EPs that would feature some of his most popular records to date, including “Hyphy”, “Mawlee”, “Don't You” and “Poppin”.  Since 2019, Riot Ten has headlined 3 international “Hype Or Die” tours, selling out shows across the globe, from North America to Australia and China. He has also made appearances at some of the top festivals in the world, including, but not limited to, Lollapalooza, Coachella, EDC Las Vegas, Electric Zoo, Lost Lands, Bass Canyon, Paradiso and more.  This episode was brought to you by VitaPlur & Lunchbox Packs. In another "Live From" episode of Electric Talk, our host Sean traversed the Northeastern U.S. to Randall's Island in New York City to sit down with one of melodic riddim's hottest artists, Ace Aura. Eric Seall –better known by his stage name Ace Aura– is an American bass music producer and DJ, best known for pioneering the melodic/future riddim brand of dubstep. His unique style has garnered support from the likes of Zomboy, NGHTMRE & SLANDER, Steve Aoki, Zeds Dead, Laidback Luke, Ookay, 12th Planet, Flux Pavilion, Borgore, William Black and many more. 2021 has undoubtedly been Ace Aura's biggest year yet, kicking off with his debut Monstercat release “Stay” with TYNAN. He continued to make even bigger leaps during the coming months, releasing “The Feeling” with Crankdat, and his first sample pack, Melodic Riddim Vol. 1 with Chime (which hit #1 on the Splice charts and remained there for four consecutive weeks). 2021 also saw the release of “Resist” with Subtronics (called an “anthemic record” by Forbes), which helped Ace Aura earn a direct support slot for Subtronics' sold out Cyclops Rocks show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Electric Talk was practically blushing when Ace Aura's team reached out for an interview. Our host Sean almost camped outside Randall's Island the night before just to make sure he got in to the festival on time. Ace discusses what it feels like to play a huge set at Electric Zoo and what he looks forward to the most for the rest of the year. We truly are not ready.
