With a deep passion for gaming history, Brett has penned several books, including the acclaimed "Classic Home Video Games" series and "The 100 Greatest Console Video Games: 1977-1987" and his more recent "The (S)NES Omnibus" book series. Brett Weiss has been a professional writer since 1997. His work has appeared in numerous publications, and he is a frequent speaker at gaming conventions. Today we have a really fun episode for you as Jason is joined by cousins Brett Weiss and Isaac Weiss. How's it growing folks? Today, the Here Weed Go! podcast is honing in on a few different subjects that are beginning to enter into the national conversation: hemp-derived products and legal mushrooms. For some quick context, hemp-derived products, or HDPs, are products like gummies, vape products, drinks and smokables that are in many ways similar to the marijuana-derived products you can find at state-licensed dispensaries. Except HDPs can be sold at grocery stores, smoke shops and gas stations in many states. That's due to hemps federally legal status as result of the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill by Congress. When it comes to mushrooms, it's important to remember that psychedelic compounds like psilocybin are still classified as federally illegal. However, there are a wide range of mushrooms that aren't psychedelic and are just now coming to public prominence due to movies like Fantastic Fungi and Dosed that seem to show the medical benefits of mushrooms. Brett Weiss spent twenty-three years in the software business, four years running a social services organization and eighteen years as a high school social studies teacher.  In 2009 he made a volunteer trip to Kenya and spent most of three weeks in the tiny village of Dago.  Little did he know then that these kind and hard- working people would become a major part of his life.  In 2012 he created the Weiss Scholarship Foundation.  In 2017 Brett "retired" so he could devote full time to this work. Brett created the Weiss Scholarship Foundation to give HOPE in a village where there was little hope.  Six trips later, 101 children have been awarded scholarships.  Our program sends children to high school and then to either university or vocational school.  So far, we have 14 students at vocational schools and 14 attending university.  This is an area where few have ever gone to high school.  A key rule of our foundation is all money is divided equally between boys and girls.
