Games - Pokémon TCG Pocket er downloadet 30 mio. gange - Er Dragon Age: The Veilguard for "woke"? Og meget, meget mere. I denne episode deltager Jørgen Bjørn, Nicolaj Jyde, Anders Isaksen, Lasse Rasmussen og Morten Urup. Tusind tak fordi du lytter med.

Mapping is a hugely complex task to take on. Even if you moved as much of the data-management as you can out to 3rd-party services, you'd still have a tonne of work to do weaving together map tiles, routing information, GPS data, points of interest, search and more. And as if that wasn't enough, you'd probably want that software to work on a whole range of platforms, so you have to build something that works on iOS, Android and more. It's little wonder that the space is dominated by a few closed-source projects owned by huge companies with near-limitless resources. But that doesn't mean the problem can't be cracked as an open-source project. This week we look at the open source map library Ferrostar. Joining me to discuss it is the project's lead developer, Ian Wagner, as we explore the problem space and dive down into Ferrostar's architecture: A core Rust library serving a suite of custom UI shells written in Kotlin, Swift, WASM and TypeScript.Along the way there are tips for anyone attempting to build a map, or wanting to interop Rust with other languages.–Support Developer Voices on Patreon: https://patreon.com/DeveloperVoicesSupport Developer Voices on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@developervoices/joinFerrostar on Github: https://github.com/stadiamaps/ferrostarFerrostar user guide: https://stadiamaps.github.io/ferrostar/MapLibre: https://maplibre.org/Project OSRM: https://project-osrm.org/Dioxus (Rust UI framework): https://dioxuslabs.com/Slint: https://slint.dev/UniFFI (repo): https://github.com/mozilla/uniffi-rsUniFFI (user guide): https://mozilla.github.io/uniffi-rs/latest/Beeline (navigation device): https://beeline.co/Ian on Mastodon: https://fosstodon.org/@ianthetechieIan on Twitter: https://x.com/ianthetechieKris on Mastodon: http://mastodon.social/@krisajenkinsKris on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/krisjenkins/Kris on Twitter: https://twitter.com/krisajenkins

Journalism is changing, which means journalists have to change too. And a great example of this is the way that BBC reporter Dougal Shaw has reinvented his own role from pure video journalism, transforming what started as corridor conversations with business leaders who happened to be visiting the BBC into a high-profile series that runs on rolling news channels, on social media, in radio and podcast formats, and now as a book. It's a story of intrapreneurship, which is fitting for a series that draws out lessons in both entrepreneurship and corporate leadership from visionary leaders who are often willing to be more vulnerable away from the finance and figures that are the focus of their more traditional BBC interviews. From the power of storytelling to the psychology of interviewing, there's lots of great stuff here for business book writers, and there's pure gold from Dougal's own experience of breaking down the book into writable parts and discovering the interconnections and patterns in the material. Not only CEO secrets, but journalistic and writing secrets too. You're welcome.

In today's Daily Fix: Square Enix has announced a shift in strategy in relation to what platforms they release their games on. The company has reported an operating loss of nearly $52 million over the past fiscal year, despite launching two major entries in their marquee Final Fantasy franchise. 2023's Final Fantasy XVI and this year's Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth were both PlayStation 5 exclusives, which may have severely limited the number of copies they could sell. Square Enix also announced they will "aggressively purse" releasing games on Xbox and "Nintendo platforms." Nintendo has teased a Switch successor, but no release date has been set. In kind of related news, the original Red Dead Redemption may finally see a PC release. An update to the Rockstar PC gaming launcher site was revealed to make mention of the game and the Undead Nightmare expansion. The game was recently ported to the Switch and PS4, but has never seen an official PC release. And finally, a team of Helldivers 2 modders have flipped a lot of the assets in the game to a Clone Wars-era Star Wars theme, and the results look awesome. Keep an eye on Nexus Mods for when those assets become available.

We start off talking about the return of EA Sports College Football 2025, because it was teased this week to be returning this Summer, and how it relates to one of the quotes in the show intro. Xbox is bringing four games to other consoles - Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded, to expand the reach of Xbox Games Studios franchises - but don't expect Halo to be on PS5 any time soon. Of course Phil Spencer says he'd love to see Sony exclusives on Xbox, but he's not holding his breath. He thinks it's in their best interest, though. This goes into an explanation as to WHY the console wars are "a thing" for consumers, even if it's not for the industry. It's because of the economic status of the loudest gamers - they can't afford multiple consoles so they want THEIR choice to be the correct one. Then we talk to Rob about the Xbox games going multiplatform.
Today we'll talk about the 4 Xbox games that are coming to other platforms. Elden Ring DLC. Will this year's COD be on Game Pass Day One?

Welcome back, although we do not have huge news to go over this week we have plenty to discuss. Rumors of the Halo BR game are now saying it was canceled. RockSteady co-founders have finally shown what they are doing and have opened a studio in London. An Until Dawn movie is being made strangely. I breakdown the Xbox Developer Direct and talk about what was shown there. Our big discussion this week is centered around Xbox as I see them as the biggest “deal” in gaming currently as they are making moves that could sculpt the industry for years to come if their bet pays off. This specific issue needs an entire video dedicated to it one day and I will eventually do that but I want someone on that episode so once I find someone I will do it.
