We recently wrapped up our four-episode series called Collaboration for Chocolate Makers, which looked at different collaboration ideas for craft chocolate companies. Today, we're looking at a case study of a specific kind of creative collaboration within the industry to pick apart how it worked, and how you can apply it at your own chocolate operation.Estelle Tracy of 37 Chocolates is a chocolate educator whose has been a guest on Bean to Barstool numerous times (you can find links to those episodes below). She reached out to me a few weeks back to let me know about a unique collaboration she was involved in in 2025. Estelle worked with Castronovo, a popular craft chocolate maker, to release a limited chocolate bar, and then led a virtual event to tell the story of the bar. In our conversation today, Estelle talks about how she approached the pairing, how it worked, what the advantages were on both sides, and what you need to know if you want to pursue a similar collab as either a craft chocolate maker or an educator or enthusiast.Episode timeline:1:00 - Narrated introduction3:35 - Beginning of interview6:50 - Summary of Estelle's collab with Castronovo12:05 - How she pitched the collab idea14:10 - Exclusivity of collab bar19:55- Business advantage for the maker21:35 - Developing the collab bar25:00 - Collaborations between enthusiasts and makers25:55 - Unique things to consider with collabs of this type30:55 - Things she's do differently next time35:35 - End of interview, closing thoughts on conversation39:35 - Recent beer and chocolate news48:30 - End of episodeMentioned in this episode:Moka OriginsAmazon Conservation TeamJ.Street ChocolateWorld Beer Cup 2026 winnersCraft Chocolat Challenge 2026 winnersRhyme & Reason ChocolateIndulgence ChocolatiersBeato ChocolatesDC Chocolate Society's Ultimate Chocolate Festival Survival GuideLucid ChocolatierPast episodes mentioned:Brewing Pastry Stouts Thoughtfully with Wandering Monsters BrewingHi Wire Brewing's 10W-40 Chocolate Imperial StoutsWolves, Sons, and Ethereal ConfectionsBrad Kintzer of TCHO Chocolate Check out David's book Pairing Beer & Chocolate: A Guide to Bringing the Flavors of Craft Beer and Craft Chocolate Together.Follow Bean to Barstool on social media!InstagramFacebookPinterestSign up for host David Nilsen's beer newsletter for regular beer musings, and the Bean to Barstool newsletter for pairings, collaborations, and maker profiles.

An incisive critique that examines the origins of contemporary American ideas about surveillance, terrorism, and white supremacy. For more than three centuries, Americans have pursued strategies of security that routinely make them feel vulnerable, unsafe, and insecure. American Insecurity and the Origins of Vulnerability (Princeton UP, 2023) probes this paradox by examining American attachments to the terror of the sublime, the fear of uncertainty, and the anxieties produced by unending racial threat. Challenging conventional approaches that leave questions of security to policy experts, Russ Castronovo turns to literature, philosophy, and political theory to show how security provides an organizing principle for collective life in ways that both enhance freedom and limit it. His incisive critique ranges from frontier violence and white racial anxiety to insurgent Black print culture and other forms of early American terror, uncovering the hidden logic of insecurity that structures modern approaches to national defense, counterterrorism, cybersecurity, surveillance, and privacy. Drawing on examples from fiction, journalism, tracts, and pamphlets, Castronovo uncovers the deep affective attachments that Americans have had since the founding to the sources of fear and insecurity that make them feel unsafe. Timely and urgent, American Insecurity and the Origins of Vulnerability sheds critical light on how and why the fundamental political desire for security promotes unease alongside assurance and fixates on risk and danger while clamoring for safety. After a life in the construction business, he's back to music with his own very unique brand of modern nostalgia built on blues, rock, jazz and more with his band Streetwise. A perfect example of how, in life, it's often music that chooses you and not the other way around. Streetwise is working on their 4th project since 2018 at The Hit Factory NY and are planning to hit the road soon.

Join Vince as he talks with Tony Castronovo about choosing entrepreneurship as his path to financial freedom. Tony is the founder and managing partner of Novo Multifamily Group, a multifamily real estate investment and asset management firm. He has been in the real estate space for over seven years, with financial freedom as his prime motivator. Today, he tells how he found out he was going down the right path that eventually gave him control of his life. There's a lot to unpack, so stay tuned and enjoy the episode! Take a Path to Traverse In a world run by money, everyone has a common goal: financial freedom. That is primarily why Tony walked down the road to real estate. Living life on one's own terms is the dream, and Tony saw real estate as the way to achieve such. In addition, real estate was something that would give him more control of his time, control of where he spends his energy, and see the fruits of his labor. Tony has been influenced by his father, who had run a business and always worked for himself throughout his career. In addition, his mother was there to support his father through the pros and cons, which is why Tony believes entrepreneurship has been embedded in him. Being able to drive his day and time on his own terms is what he wants, bringing him happiness. Tony traces back to 2001 how he got the bug to do real estate. He had been doing construction in the 80s and 90s, and he was told by a coworker 20 years older than him that he had to find a better way to make money because they both earn the same amount. Because of that, he got started in real estate in 2001. Tony hustled in that business but had to stop when he found a new job. Fortunately, the spark got him back in 2014, and he has been in the industry since then. Tony knew what he wanted right from the start, which pushed him to take that path. Taking matters into his own hands eventually brought him the life he envisioned for himself and his family. On the 24th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & Sonny review the 1989 debut album by Bad English. The band is made up of former members of the Babys, lead singer and pop star, John Waite, bassist, Ricky Phillips and keyboard/songwriter Jonathan Cain, along with guitar sensation Neal Schon, were members of Journey. Rounding out the band was future Journey drummer, Deen Castronovo. The band burst onto the scene with 3 Top 40 hits including the number #1 smash, "When I See You Smile." The band relied on a combination of Waite's smooth silky vocals, Cain's song writing and Schon's superb guitar playing. Castronovo and Phillips were more than capable as well. The album was released at perhaps the height of the "hair metal" explosion and went platinum. This was Sonny's pick and as usual the guys breakdown the tracks and rank the songs. The boys then rank the album and album cover against the previous 22 albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew Episodes.
