Gas prices are heading straight to the stratosphere. Inflation is the elephant in the room. And there's a growing concern in Medicare when it comes to physician payments. Here's why: Medicare cuts are pending, including the PAYGO 4 percent, starting in 2023.What's more, deductions from reinstated sequestrations are on the rise. There's also an expected lowering of the 2023 conversion factor, the possible ending of the public health emergency (PHE) windfall of telehealth payment parity, as well as MedPac saying that a physician raise generally is not necessary. So, the burning question: where is all the money going from Medicare? Stranger than fiction are the reports coming from providers complaining of inconsistent and often contradictory reasons given for claim denials, leading to recoupment and the possibility of Medicare revoking privileges of participation in federal health programs – and this at a time of shrinking margins, rising inflation, budget cuts, and staff shortages. Little wonder that America's hospitals, health systems, and physician practices are feeling the pain. However, during the next special news edition of Monitor Mondays, you will not only hear field reports from our distinguished and highly respected panelists, but also gain the benefit of practical guidance in traversing the treacherous audit terrain. And, as a special added feature, Monitor Mondays will conduct an exclusive roundtable on the contentious and controversial 340B drug discount program. Substituting for the program's executive producer and program host, Chuck Buck, will be Dr. John K. Hall.Other segments will include these instantly recognizable broadcast segments:The RAC Report: Healthcare attorney Knicole Emanuel, partner at the law firm of Practus, will report the latest news about auditors.SDoH Report: Tiffany Ferguson, a subject matter expert on the social determinants of health (SDoH), will report on the news that's happening at the intersection of healthcare regulations and the SDoH.Risky Business: Healthcare attorney David Glaser, shareholder in the law offices of Fredrikson & Bryon, will join the broadcast with his trademark segment.Monday Rounds: Ronald Hirsch, MD, vice president of R1 RCM, will be making his Monday Rounds with another installment of his popular segment.Legislative Update: Cate Brantley, legislative affairs analyst for Zelis, will report on current healthcare legislation. I love my kids. Though, between you and me, I also really loved my life before kids too. I've definitely sunken into all of the parenting cliches of glueing finger paintings all over my house, seeing my friends almost never and saying things like "because I said so" a million times a day. The thing is, I swear used to be fun. I never missed a party (like never ever, actually, I probably should have skipped a few). I traveled, hiked, biked, spiked... I was in a band for Godsakes! But having kids is like a constant battle, waged on your sense of self, and they usually win. I said I love my kids, right? The thing about Yes Day... I don't think it's a film for everybody. In fact, I know Tim is going to want to claw his ear drums out. But the thing about Yes Day is that I feel seen. Miguel Arteta and the writing team know me. They know that I used to be fun. They know that I thought I was going to be the "fun parent." They know I can't be because my husband is made of unset pudding and can't bear to tell the kids "no". They know that I'm the one that understands the importance of not wasting food. They know that I'm doing the right thing when I don't help them clean up all of their messes. They know that most of the time I feel like a terrible Mom, because trying to raise good humans sometimes means "saying no." **Deep inhales** Talking with Miguel Arteta I know I say this all the time, but gosh, what a nice guy. Miguel Arteta is a Puerto Rican director known for his independent film Chuck & Buck , The Good Girl and Like a Boss. It seems like directors are always so relieved when we love their movies. There was an audible weight lifted as we shared that our whole family gave Yes Day a big thumbs up. It's been hard for us to find family films that all of four of us connect with, so lately we've defaulted to some of the classics (DON'T re-watch The Mighty Ducks, DO re-watch Jumanji). We hope you enjoy hearing more about Yes Day, from Miguel Arteta. Yes Day is available on streaming March 12, 2021! ***************************************************************** Love the Podcast? Infection rates from the coronavirus are declining. Vaccination rates are increasing. And while that’s good news, word on the ground is anything but good. Vaccination distribution in the U.S. has been, by most accounts, uneven, with reports of supplies not keeping up with demand in many states. And this week, a spate of bad weather, particularly in Texas and states across the Southeast, is hampering vaccination efforts – and in some cases, cancelling mass inoculation events. During the next live edition of Talk-Ten-Tuesdays Susan Gatehouse, founder and CEO for Axea Solutions, and Deborah Grider, senior healthcare consultant for Karen Zupko and Associates, will report on vaccination rates in their respective states: Georgia and Indiana. It will mark one of several segments making up Part IV of Vaccination Nation, an exclusive series being produced by ICD10monitor for Talk-Ten-Tuesdays. Also during the program, TTT executive producer Chuck Buck and co-host Erica Remer, MD will answer listeners’ questions in real time. Joining them on the program will be Lynne Comstock, who, like Remer, is a volunteer inoculator in Corpus Christi, Texas. Remer is volunteering with the Medical Reserve Corps of the Cuyahoga County Board of Health in Ohio. The global COVID-19 pandemic has now resulted in more than 110 million cases worldwide, as well as 2.45 million deaths. More than 28 million of those cases and more than half a million deaths have occurred in the U.S. alone. However, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently reported that more than 56 million doses of the vaccine have been administered across the country.Still, there’s the disturbing trend of vaccine hesitancy. Driven by misinformation, lack of trust, and concerns about safety and efficacy, vaccine hesitancy is considered to be one of the top global health threats, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).The live broadcast will also feature these other segments:News Desk: Ronald Hirsch, MD will anchor the Talk Ten Tuesdays News Desk. The Coding Report: Laurie Johnson, senior healthcare consultant for Revenue Cycle Solutions, LLC, will report on the latest ICD-10 codes.
They’re standing in long lines, often in the early morning darkness and in the cold, waiting for access to community vaccination centers all across the country. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 1 million doses are being administered daily to grateful recipients.Yet there’s still the disturbing trend of vaccine hesitancy. Driven by misinformation, lack of trust, and concerns about safety and efficacy, vaccine hesitancy is considered to be one of the top global health threats, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).During Part III of Vaccination Nation, an exclusive series produced by ICD10monitor for Talk-Ten-Tuesdays, program host and executive producer Chuck Buck and co-host Erica Remer, MD will conduct another live town hall, answering listeners’ questions in real time. The global COVID-19 pandemic has now resulted in nearly 108 million cases worldwide, as well as 2.37 million deaths. More than 27 million of those cases and more than 483,000 deaths have occurred in the U.S. alone. Two companies, Moderna and Pfizer, have had their COVID vaccines approved for use by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Since vaccine distribution began in the U.S. in mid-December 2020, more than 44 million doses have been administered, reaching slightly more than 10 percent of the total U.S. population, according to federal data recently collected by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and reported on by NPR.A third company, Johnson & Johnson, earlier this month applied for FDA approval for its single-dose vaccine, and company officials have said they will be able to produce 100 million doses by June. Officials with both Moderna and Pfizer have reportedly said that they plan to have produced 200 million doses apiece by the summer. The live broadcast will also feature these other segments:News Desk: Timothy Powell, compliance expert and ICD10monitor national correspondent, will anchor the Talk Ten Tuesdays News Desk. The Coding Report: Laurie Johnson, senior healthcare consultant for Revenue Cycle Solutions, LLC, will report on the latest ICD-10 codes.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is forecasting that there will be more than 500,000 deaths from the coronavirus in the U.S. by the third week of February. In the meantime, the U.S. vaccine rollout fell short of federal projections, according to Bloomberg News, which noted that the initial round of shots, delivered through early January, was distributed through hospitals. Then there’s the disturbing trend of vaccine hesitancy. Driven by misinformation, lack of trust, and concerns about safety and efficacy, vaccine hesitancy is considered to be one of the top global health threats, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).During Part II of Vaccination Nation, an exclusive series produced by ICD10monitor for Talk Ten Tuesdays, program host and executive producer Chuck Buck and co-host Erica Remer, MD will conduct a live town hall, answering listeners’ questions in real time. On the morning of Halloween, 1966, a groundskeeper at Riverside City College discovered the body of a young woman, sprawled face-down on a gravel drive-way between two campus buildings. The victim was Cheri Jo Bates, an 18-year-old freshman who had spent the previous evening studying at the campus library. Her killer had stabbed her several times in the back and chest; slit her throat; and disappeared into the night. The search for Cheri Jo Bates’s killer stalled until 1970, when her murder was linked to a series of killings committed in the San Francisco Bay Area by a man who proclaimed himself “the Zodiac.” For more than 50 years, the elusive Zodiac has been pursued by state and federal law enforcement agencies, journalists, and even amateur sleuths. He has been the subject of best-selling books and Hollywood films. Yet, the Zodiac has never been apprehended, and the murders he took credit for remain unsolved. The Zodiac has never been definitively linked to Cheri Jo Bates’s murder, but to this day, many remain convinced that she was the Zodiac’s first victim. Others believe that Cheri Jo’s killer was someone she knew. His identity remains unknown, and Cheri Jo Bates’s murder remains unsolved. The investigation into the murder of Cheri Jo Bates remains active. If you have any information that could aid investigators in their search for Cheri Jo’s killer, please contact the Riverside Police Department.RPD (Non-Emergency): 951-354-2007 RPD (General Information): 951-826-5700Anonymous We Tip Hotline: 800-472-7766Send us an email at feedback@ccspod.com! Award-winning screenwriter, Zak Penn joins us to discuss finding early success at age 23, developing his craft, and working with with Stephen Spielberg on READY PLAYER ONE. Guest Biography Zak Penn’s career began as a screenwriter when he sold his first script, LAST ACTION HERO, at the age of twenty-three. Since then, Penn has become known for his work on numerous films based on Marvel comics, including X-MEN 2 and X-MEN: THE LAST STAND, ELEKTRA, THE INCREDIBLE HULK, and most recently, THE AVENGERS. He has also dabbled in other genres, writing scripts for disparate films such as P.C.U., BEHIND ENEMY LINES and SUSPECT ZERO. Penn’s shift into independent cinema began when he collaborated with his idol, Werner Herzog, on the script for RESCUE DAWN. Penn directed and co-starred with Herzog in INCIDENT AT LOCH NESS, his award-winning “hoax” documentary about the legendary director’s attempts to make a film about the equally legendary monster. THE GRAND, Penn’s second completely improvised film, was his third film with Herzog, and featured an eclectic cast including Woody Harrelson, David Cross, Ray Romano, Cheryl Hines, Dennis Farina and Gabe Kaplan. In addition, Penn co-wrote the original story for ANTZ and produced the animated film OSMOSIS JONES. He has also acted in a number of independent films, including STAR MAPS and CHUCK & BUCK. His first foray into television was the critically acclaimed original series ALPHAS starring David Strathairn. Penn directed the documentary ATARI: GAME OVER for Xbox Entertainment Studios. Penn most recently adapted the New York Times bestselling novel READY PLAYER ONE for Warner Bros. Directed by Stephen Spielberg, the film will be released in March 2018. Penn is currently working on a script for Warner Bros set in THE MATRIX universe. For new release THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS we found the easiest theme ever for this podcast with MORE films about girls with all the gifts in MATILDA (1996) and FROZEN (2013). Unfortunately what we did not find was a lot of films starring and marketed to young girls like in the mid-90s, so we discuss this with Jessi Lauren of Search to Find You. Is FROZEN receiving credit for being one of the few films featuring a girl with all the gifts? And how come we have to mention the film CHUCK & BUCK every time we attempt to do a family friendly episode? All of these questions and more, such as "Why am I listening to this podcast?" will be answered on this episode.
