Over the past few months, I have been in traffic jams on the highway several times when traveling to our weekly hike.  In more than one instance someone has decided to pull over and drive on the berm.  In more than a few cases the outcome of this technique for getting things done ends poorly. Despite the unpredictable outcome, jumping the queue is practiced by many in traffic and even more when funneling work to teams. The consequences when working on information technology products are far more predictable than driving, and they are ALWAYS bad. Let's fix some of the problems leading to queue jumping. We also have a visit from Susan Parente, who brings her I Am Not A Scrumdamentalist column to the cast.  We discuss risk management when using hybrid agile approaches.  Contact Susan on LinkedIn linkedin.com/in/susanparente or at Parente@s3-tec.com Upcoming Events Using the TMMi accelerates the value of DevOps Fri, August 6, 2021 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM EDT   This is a free TMMi America Webinar featuring Rex Black  (SPaMCAST is a proud media sponsor of the TMMi America ) Register at https://bit.ly/3AOlvdC About this event In this webinar, we will address how DevOps testing benefits through TMMi How TMMi's higher Process Areas drive defect prevention, Shift Left, and CI/CD build and test pipelines Address the benefits of how DevOps Organization benefits from using the TMMi. If you have not read the entry, do it NOW :)  An update on my continued experiment using Monotasking. My intent was to carve (not crave - I caught the spelling error a little late this week, it was not procrastination) out an hour in which I could turn off Teams, Slack, email, and text to allow for focus. Frankly, I failed. I was able to achieve a quiet zone only one day during business hours.  I regularly turn off all notifications when writing before my day begins, but during the “work” day being unreachable is more difficult.  I am still looking for the right formula of schedule blocking and advanced notification to make this work.  Previous Entries in  Monotasking by Staffan Nöteberg Week 1 - Logistics, Game Plan, and Preface - https://bit.ly/3x1oVap  Week 2 - Introduction - https://bit.ly/2TXVfwt  Week 3 - Monotasking In A Nutshell - https://bit.ly/3gGMb72  Week 4 - Cut Down on Things to Do - https://bit.ly/3wt1ENL  Week 5 - Focus on One Task - https://bit.ly/3hK2XDU  Next SPaMCAST  Next, we feature our interview with Mike Potter, CEO of Rewind.  We talked about the need to backup SaaS applications, remote and hybrid working, and entrepreneurship. This week I had the pleasure of chatting with Susan Scherer, the CEO and Founder of Heavenly Hash Creamery. After working as a primary care nurse for nearly a decade, Susan started her first company working with Cancer patients and their families to navigate the aspects of their care. In 2018, she began Heavenly Hash Creamy which derived from the tragedy of personal loss. Taking a hiatus from her work, Susan went to a networking event where she connected with an individual who made ice cream. It’s this experience that got her thinking--how can we make a great tasting, high-protein, and refreshing product that cancer patients will enjoy and benefit from? The answer was cannabis-infused ice cream! As a gluten-free, low lactose, and high-protein ice cream company, her ice cream flavors are available in CBD and non-CBD infused flavors. After dissolving her first company, she focused her efforts on Heavenly Hash Creamery and has been instrumental in making laws and regulations that allow her clients to get a tasty and nutritious treat. As a self-taught entrepreneur, Susan understands that continuing cannabis education helps to legitimize her company and keep her patients safe. She also reached out to food scientists and ice cream consultants to help her create an excellent-tasting product that’s also nutritious. Susan hopes to continue to grow her brand and add more high-protein and CBD products. Contact Susan and learn more about Heavenly Hash Creamery by visiting https://heavenlyhashcreamery.com/ or call 833-ICE-WEED (833-423-9333) today! Geologist, Explorer and World Visionary Susan Morrice is leading the way in how businesses and large corporations operate. Grounded by her love of nature Susan lives to create positive change in the world and is renowned for her down-to-earth approach. She has a passion for the protection of our precious environment and a vision of uncovering the true potential of everyone with whom she meets and works. Susan story and journey of how she found oil in a country everyone had said there was none is one of the more powerful and inspirational stories I have heard. Susan is now on a mission to help everyone find their "Oil" within so they can live at their full potential. “ Let the Energy of the Earth Ignite the Energy of the People ” - Susan Morrice ABOUT SUSAN: Susan was born and raised in Belfast Ireland, with a MoD degree in Geology from Trinity College Dublin. She began her career as a frontier geologist, working all over the World. Her work with Englishman, Sir Ian Rankin, took her to Belize where she fell in love with the people and the Country. After 15 years of exploration, finding no oil, Susan and her business partner, Mike Usher, attended the Educo Seminar - a specialised seminar on Human Potential and the power of the mind. Through utilising what they learned, on 24 June 2005 Susan and Mike, and their BNE team, did the unheard of and struck oil on their first well. BNE has become a global oil industry beacon that has made a real difference in the Country of Belize. It was through Susan's gift of exploration, and an understanding of the power of untapped human potential that she was able to find oil where it was believed by all of the Majors in the oil industry that there was none. In 2015 BNE celebrated ten years of production and over ten-million barrels of oil, contributing significantly to the economy and for over 7 years has been the number one revenue generator for the Belize Government. In addition to 55% of BNE's revenue stream going direct to the Belize Government, in just over 9 years, the BNE Trust has invested 9.3 million Belize dollars in education throughout Belize. This included 1,072 student loans and 380 direct job creations in addition to over 150 in BNE. In October 2015 a major trade treaty was signed at the United Nations between Belize and the UAE. This unification is not just economic, but represents a true understanding between the two nations. The UAE are interested in BNE and Belize because of the Educo Model, which is all about empowering the individual and channeling the energy within. Susan has a passion for sharing the steps she took for the transformational Vision of Belize to become a reality. She feels everyone can take these steps and bring out their visionary capacity to change the World and welcomes people with an interest in finding out more to contact her direct. Everyone I know is experiencing a hard time (in one way or another) thanks to this pandemic. It's easy to get caught up in our struggles and how they are impacting our lives. No stones being thrown here as I've often done this myself. But I wonder if we could love one another better during hard times. My friend, Susan Kent, joined me on this episode to share how she received love and support from friends and family during the hardest time of her life. Her husband, Nimish, was killed in a plane crash, leaving her a young widow and mother of a 4 1/2-month-old son. They sat with her, cried with her, and helped care for her son while she grieved her husband's tragic death. It was during those long and painful months that Susan realized how much she learned when she received the gift of her friends and family carrying her to the feet of Jesus. Since then, she's been determined to be a "mat carrier" for others who are hurting. When she sees friends or family hurting during their hard times, she gives the gift of carrying them to the feet of Jesus, so they can soak in Jesus' love, comfort, and healing.Let's receive -----> then give.
