Dziedzic stepped down from leadership early this year after learning her ovarian cancer had returned. For more on her legacy, MPR News host Nina Moini talks with former Sen. Susan Kent, who worked with Dziedzic in the state Legislature.

Susan Kingsley Kent is the author of The Influenza Pandemic of 1918-1919: a brief history with documents. The 1918 Flu Pandemic is the only historical event we have that's remotely comparable to what's going on today during the COVID-19 crisis. Lily and Juliet are joined by Susan Kent, who advises hedge funds and companies on investment opportunities, legal claims and shareholder campaigns. This week they're talking about financial investigations including short selling. What is short selling? Well, according to Investopedia....Short selling (also known as “shorting,” “selling short” or “going short”) refers to the sale of a security or financial instrument that the seller has borrowed to make the short sale. The short seller believes that the borrowed security's price will decline, enabling it to be bought back at a lower price for a profit. The difference between the price at which the security was sold short and the price at which it was purchased represents the short seller's profit (or loss, as the case may be).Listen in to find out how firms like Schillings use experts like Susan to investigate possible cases of short selling. For more information about Schillings, click here and to contact the team, email Plainsight@schillingspartners.com.

As consumers, most of us expect great digital experiences. And COVID-19 is converting the last holdouts to Amazon. It’s time we ask the same of financial institutions. On the latest episode of Payments Nerds, I sit down with Wade Hobbs, Vice President, Solution Strategy at Viewpointe, and Susan Kent, Enterprise Technology Strategist at Truist. We discuss the race behind the scenes at some of the largest financial institutions to modernize their payments. We went over: What payments platform modernization means The technologies like AI fueling the trend Why COVID-19 has made digital no longer an option, but a necessity
Everyone I know is experiencing a hard time (in one way or another) thanks to this pandemic. It's easy to get caught up in our struggles and how they are impacting our lives. No stones being thrown here as I've often done this myself. But I wonder if we could love one another better during hard times. My friend, Susan Kent, joined me on this episode to share how she received love and support from friends and family during the hardest time of her life. Her husband, Nimish, was killed in a plane crash, leaving her a young widow and mother of a 4 1/2-month-old son. They sat with her, cried with her, and helped care for her son while she grieved her husband's tragic death. It was during those long and painful months that Susan realized how much she learned when she received the gift of her friends and family carrying her to the feet of Jesus. Since then, she's been determined to be a "mat carrier" for others who are hurting. When she sees friends or family hurting during their hard times, she gives the gift of carrying them to the feet of Jesus, so they can soak in Jesus' love, comfort, and healing.Let's receive -----> then give. Contact Susan at skent@twumc.org to purchase her Bible studies - Courageous Living, Living Hope, and Forged in Friendship - or to invite her to speak at your next event.

Over half a million people go homeless on a single night in the United States - 65 percent in shelters, the other 35 percent on our streets. As a community, we cannot keep patching the problem - it is hurting those in need. We shouldn't just point out a poor person and hand them a few dollars then go about our day. Poverty can last a long time, being homeless can last a long time, because that is only patching the problem. We keep putting off real solutions to the growing homeless crisis. The homeless on Delmarva deserve compassion and solutions that change their situations.SHOW NOTES:0:45 - Susan Kent of Love INC of Mid-Delmarva joins The Bridge Podcast1:45 - What is Love INC of Mid-Delmarva?4:00 - What is the state of homelessness in our country today?6:20 - How do we define homelessness so we can tackle the problem?8:20 - A rise of full intact families are finding themselves on the streets9:25 - Tourist areas suffer when workers are unable to live where they work10:30 - Current response policies may be hurting, more than helping12:00 - Lack of church involvement offers an area of improvement14:00 - Be part of the Continuum of Care15:15 - What if someone who is homeless doesn't want help?18:00 - We cannot keep patching the problem of homelessness21:30 - What does homelessness look like across Delmarva?23:20 - There are many shelters and organizations serving the homeless on Delmarva24:40 - But what can I do to get involved?29:15 - TakeawaysLove INC of Mid-Delmarva online - https://loveincofmiddelmarva.comand on Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/LOVEINCSUSSEX/Love Worth Sharing Homeless Resources -http://www.loveworthsharing.com/homeless.htmlThe State of Homelessness In America Report from The Council of Economic Advisers (September 2019)https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2019/09/The-State-of-Homelessness-in-America.pdfTen Facts About Homelessness in America by Rev.
