Recording Live at the recent Los Angeles Comic Con, Artist Ronald Wimberly discusses his project with the legendary Scotch Whiskey company, Ardbeg. The intersection of Scotch and comics may not seem like a natural one at first, but as Ronald discusses the project with Ardbeg National Brand Ambassador Cameron George, the overlap between these two distinctive artforms, making comics and making scotch, become apparent. You'll hear the panel in it's entirety and then a quick on-on-one with Jace and Ronald highlighting some of the points discussed on the panel. The press release for the event is below.   LOS ANGELES, CA (November 18, 2022) - Ardbeg, the famous Islay distillery known for pushing the boundaries of whisky-making, announced today its plans to bring bold, tasteful fan experiences to L.A. Comic Con from December 3-4. Showcasing the brand's first-ever, limited-edition graphic novel, titled Planet Ardbeg, whisky enthusiasts and weirdos alike will take part in an immersive, one-of-a-kind experience into the world of Ardbeg.   Planet Ardbeg features three distinct tales inspired by the flavors and origin stories of three Ardbeg expressions – Ardbeg Ten Years Old, Ardbeg An Oa and Ardbeg Wee Beastie. L.A. Comic Con attendees will immerse themselves in the 40-page sci-fi anthology through the tales of “Guardians of Oa,” “The Best Laid Schemes” and “Take it with a Grain of Sand” during a specially crafted and otherworldly drinking experience.   Attendees will be presented with three paths representing the three distinct tales drafted from the unique qualities of three whiskies: 10 YO, An Oa and Wee Beastie. The experience leads guests through a hallway into a series of inlets and rooms where they encounter various environments they interact with based on the graphic novel. The cocktails will be served during a private tasting. Guests will need to reach out to planetardbegrsvp@bhimpact.com in order to gain access to the “invite-only” post-event tasting hours taking place on Saturday and Sunday from 4pm - 6pm PT.    The graphic novel was conceived by cartoonist Ronald Wimberly, Emma Rios and Sanford Greene., each bringing their own distinctive voice and style to the project. Using three expressions in Ardbeg's Core Range as their creative launchpad, together they produced an anthology of tales as bold and unique as Ardbeg itself, featuring a land of giant botanicals and even bigger beasts. Den här veckan provar vi inte mindre än fyra stycken whiskies från Jura! Det är 10-åringen, 12-åringen 18-åringen och så till sist en väldigt spännande NAS som har fått namnet Seven wood. Jura är en liten ö som ligger precis intill Islay och har ett destilleri med samma namn. Men det är inte alls samma tunga rök som Islay är känt för som kommer ifrån denna lilla grann-ö. Nä det är en rätt finstämd rökprofil och alla utgåvor har fått en finish utöver att ha lagrats i ett antal år på fat av amerikansk ek. Häng med och se vad vi tycker om Jura och deras whisky. Glenallachie Port Wood Finish gehört zur Wood Finish Serie, in der Glenallachie Malts unterschiedlichen Alters in verschiedenen Fasstypen nachreift. Der 11-Jährige reifte zunächst für mindestens neun Jahre in amerikanischen Eichenfässern und erhielt anschließend sein Finish in Ruby-Portwein-Fässern. Unter der Leitung von Billy Walker, dem ehemaligen Master Distiller berühmter Brennereien, wurde Glenallachie neues Leben eingehaucht. Die Destillerie produzierte die letzten Jahre nur für die Blend-Industrie, die letzte und einzige Originalabfüllung gab es 2005. Insgesamt 4 verschiedene Abfüllungen wurden nun für die neue Core Range konzipiert. Ungefärbt, nicht kühlgefiltert und in den verschiedensten Fasstypen gereift.

Hallo liebe Zuhörer und Zuhörerinnen, heute haben wir den günstigsten Deanston aus der Core Range im Glas, wir verkosten den Deanston Virgin Oak. Der Whisky hat leider keine Altersangabe, dafür aber einen Kampfpreis, der ein echtes Statement ist. Gefinisht wurde der Whisky wie der Name schon sagt in Virgin Oak Casks, das bedeutet, nach seiner Reifung in typischen Bourbon Casks erhielt der Whisky ein Finish in neuen quasi "jungfräulichen" Eichenfässern, welche frisch ausgebrannt wurden und mit noch keinem anderen Alkohol befüllt wurden. Noch eine Besonderheit ist, dass die verwendete Gerste lokal angebaut wird.  Abgefüllt ist das Ganze mit 46,3 % Vol. und der Whisky ist nicht Kühlfiltriert und auch nicht gefärbt.    Wir wünschen euch viel Spaß!
