In this episode of 2 Giants Goofballs, we dive into the latest happenings from the Giants' offseason. We start with the Top Giants Ever countdown, revealing players ranked 100 through 91. Rich Seubert, a key part of the championship line during Eli Manning's era, kicks off the list at 100. Brad Benson follows at 99, having played 10 seasons and earning one Pro Bowl selection. At 98, we have Eddie Price, a 3-time Pro Bowler who led the NFL in rushing in 1951. Hakeem Nicks, ranked 97, boasts the 4th most receiving yards in Giants history. Willie Williams, a Pro Bowl DB in 1969 with the 4th most interceptions in Giants history, lands at 96. Saquon Barkley comes in at 95, recognized for his 2018 Offensive Rookie of the Year award, 2 Pro Bowls, and the 4th most rushing yards in Giants history. Erik Howard, an interior defensive lineman from the LT Super Bowl era with 122 games and 1 Pro Bowl, is ranked 94. Terry Kinard, a safety from the 1980s with 105 games, 1 Super Bowl, and 1 Pro Bowl, is at 93. Offensive lineman Darrell Dess from the 1960s, a 2-time Pro Bowler, is ranked 92. Finally, Lawrence Tynes, known for kicking the Giants into the Super Bowl twice, rounds out the list at 91.Saquon Barkley, reacting to his ranking at 95, expressed his appreciation on Twitter, calling it "really dope." However, not all feedback was positive. Philadelphia DJ Howard Eskin criticized the aired phone conversation between Barkley and Joe Schoen on Hard Knocks, calling it "a disgrace" and questioning why Barkley would want to play for Schoen. Continuing with the Top Giants Ever countdown, we reveal players ranked 90 through 81. Aaron Thomas, a tight end in the 1960s who holds the franchise record for most touchdowns by a TE, is ranked 90. Jason Sehorn, an elite cornerback in the 1990s whose career was cut short by injury, comes in at 89. Howard Cross, a great blocking tight end from the 1990s and the player with the 3rd most games played as a Giant, is at 88. Corey Webster, a key cornerback from the last two Super Bowl runs, is ranked 87. Erich Barnes, a DB who played just 4 seasons with the Giants but was 1st Team AP once and 2nd Team AP twice, is at 86. Dave Meggett, arguably the best returner in Giants history, is ranked 85. Solid running back Ahmad Bradshaw comes in at 84. Kerry Collins, who almost got a ring with the Giants and helped turn the franchise around, is at 83. Kareem McKenzie, a standout right tackle, is ranked 82. Finally, Frank Cope, a left tackle and member of the NFL's All-1930s team, rounds out the list at 81.In other Giants news, Cordale Flott was included in CBS Sports' NFL All-Breakout Team, highlighting his potential and expanded role as a slot cornerback. ESPN's survey of NFL executives, coaches, and scouts ranked Dexter Lawrence as the 3rd best defensive tackle in the league, praising his power, balance, and flexibility.  CBS Sports also ranked Bobby Okereke among the top 10 linebackers in the NFL. Tyrone Tracy Jr.'s college coaches highlighted his natural pass-catching ability and physicality, noting his potential to excel in the NFL. Meanwhile, Patrick Peterson criticized Daniel Jones.#giants #nygiants #giants100Support the Show. All Episodes are shot LIVE with fan interactions on Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, & TwitchSponsor the show at: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/2giantgoofballsInterested in starting a podcast. The Breakers are set for a long-awaited homecoming with seven consecutive games to be hosted in New Zealand to round out their Australian NBL season.Scheduling for the final six weeks of the 2020-21 season has been released, with the Breakers first set to grace New Zealand hardwood floors on May 20 against the Sydney Kings. It will mark the first time the lone Kiwi franchise in the transtasman competition has played in New Zealand since February 2020.Breakers owner Matt Walsh says all staff and players couldn't be more excited to be returning home."Our priority has been to get our players and staff home to their families as soon as possible. We wouldn't have gotten through this very challenging season without the support of our families and friends," he said."We are very grateful that we get to finish our season playing seven home games."It has been 426 days since the franchise last played a home game, a pre-Covid matchup with the South East Melbourne Phoenix in Christchurch on February 14 last year. You have to go back to January 31 2020 for the last time the Breakers played in Auckland. The Breakers have been based in Australia since before Christmas, and captain Tom Abercrombie has welcomed news the team is heading home."The prospect of going back to New Zealand, getting some home games is obviously very exciting," he says.Abercrombie, who has appeared 350 times for the Breakers and been part of all four championship-winning teams, knows better than anyone the importance of home-court advantage in the NBL."There's a lot of things that come with home-court advantage, part of that is the boost your fans can give you. Sometimes after a couple of losses on the road, you really look forward to that reset of coming home, playing in front of your fans, and resetting, reigniting your momentum," he says."For us being able to come home and hopefully reset and reignite ourselves and go on a bit of a run is exciting."Abercrombie has not seen his wife or three kids since mid-January, while guard Corey Webster has missed both his children's birthdays and his son's first day at school while being in Australia."It's tough being away, they're growing up so quick, they're at an age where they grow and change every week," Webster says. The 32-year-old expects the narrow losses the team continues to suffer to turn into wins when the Breakers are playing on home soil."Home crowd atmosphere is a huge thing in sports; you feed off your crowd's energy, you're playing in front of your friends, your family, and your loyal fans, and that all adds to the atmosphere and the way you feel," Webster says. The Breakers play 10 more games in Australia, beginning with a clash with the Brisbane Bullets in Tasmania tomorrow, prior to coming home.It is expected the team will fly back to New Zealand next month where they will play seven consecutive games without having to fly back to Australia to play a regular-season game again."It's a little cruel the bubble is going to be open, but we can't go back straight away, but we've learned very quickly this season to deal with whatever comes our way and not make excuses," Abercrombie says."When I'm on that plane and I'm heading home, that's when I will really get excited and start imagining the hugs with the kids."

The Sky Sport Breakers are set to announce another change in their coaching ranks, with Chanel Pompallier set to be unveiled as the team's newest addition.Pompallier will join the ranks as an assistant coach, becoming the first female coach in the ANBL club's history, and will begin work alongside director of basketball Dan Shamir and assistant coach Mody Moar in preparing the roster for next season. She moves into the role in place of Zico Coronel, who manned the post for one season. The club announced the news at a press conference on Wednesday, but did not discuss the details around Coronel's exit from the role."We're definitely not closing the door on that. We are friends," Shamir said of Coronel."We have a different mix in how we build it right now. We're looking to build the right pieces. There a business side to it which we're not going to get into to much detail with, but right now this is who we added and we're not done, I think we;re going to add a few more."Speaking about the change to the coaching staff, Breakers guard Corey Webster said it was a great move for the team to appoint Pompallier."She's got a great basketball IQ and knows the game very well and she will bring that," Webster said."Obviously she will be there to learn and what a great coaching path to learn from with Dan and Mody there who have an enormous basketball IQ, have coached at the highest levels and have a lot to teach so she will be learning from them and she will just be working hard every day, learning along the way and work hard next to everyone else."She just knows the game really well, she's played it her whole life, been around it her whole life, I think the bigger thing for her will be just learning under Dan and Mody and helping out where she can."

Latest pre-Christmas edition of Hoops Heaven's Basketball Hustle and there's so much happening for us to discuss in the NBL right now that there's not even room for a guest!NBL Writer Chris Pike and Perth Wildcats four-time championship winning legend Shawn Redhage are back to dissect everything that happened in a dramatic Round 11 in the NBL and now looking ahead to Round 12 that will lead into Christmas.First up is a reflection on last week's mid-season predictions and award winners, and talk about why fresh off playing his 300th game for the Wildcats, why others around the country don't still rate Damian Martin as the league's best defensive player.Talk then turns to the remarkable individual performances from Jerome Randle and John Roberson to win games for the Adelaide 36ers and South East Melbourne Phoenix respectively, along with how Jarrod Kenny would be feeling after two costly turnovers for the Cairns Taipans.Focus is then on the Perth Wildcats and Sydney Kings who are breaking away from the pack on top of the NBL while Shawn gives his thoughts on Melbourne United and what they should do with Casey Prather following another injury. The New Zealand Breakers are again in the news as well with the re-signing of coach Dan Shamir and the release of Corey Webster, while the Illawarra Hawks had two new imports make disappointing debuts. There's then more of a discussion surrounding what has happened with Cam Gliddon at the Brisbane Bullets this season fresh off playing for the Boomers at the World Cup, and what his future might hold.Attention is then on Christmas and if the NBL is ready to play Christmas Day games, but then the idea turns into one where an expanded Boxing Day schedule might be ideal. There is then a full preview of Round 12 in the NBL while Shawn reacts to news that the Cairns Taipans will be retiring the No.8 singlet of his old foe, Aaron Grabau. It's all thanks to Hoops Heaven (www.hoopsheaven.com.au), ID Athletic (www.idathletic.com) and Devlin's (www.devlinsonline.com.au).

The New Zealand Breakers have all but resigned to their fate this season and allowed Corey Webster to join the Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in China on a short-term deal.Webster has agreed to join the Lions in the Chinese Basketball Association on a short-term loan after the club offered the Breakers a lucrative buyout deal.It won't be the end of Webster's tenure with the Breakers however, with the 31-year-old agreeing to an extension with the club that would see him remain in Auckland until 2023.Speaking to media about Webster's contract in China, Breakers director of basketball Dan Shamir said their 4-10 record made the decision to let him leave a bit easier."He's not going anywhere if it's 10-4, let's be honest," Shamir said."This season has been challenging from day one, and this is definitely not an upgrade for the team. My approach is always to take it for the next game and compete; look for the three or four things we need to do and we'll keep doing that. Will we in the 14 games that are left? I don't know, I can't promise results."It doesn't mean we're going to rest or be less professional."The Breakers have struggled to a 4-10 record to the halfway point of the season, sitting four games behind the Adelaide 36ers who currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot. Webster's new Chinese deal means he is now unavailable to play against the Melbourne Phoenix in Christchurch this weekend and he was expected to leave the country in the coming days. For Webster, who leads the Breakers in scoring with 19 points per game, it was an easy decision to accept the offer. The CBA is one of the top leagues in the world, with their imports often being high-level former NBA players. Webster joins the club a week after eight-year NBA veteran Kenneth Faried was cut from the team and said the opportunity to play in the CBA was unexpected. It's the second opportunity Webster has had to ply his trade in a league overseas, after an approach by Turkish club Darüşşafaka was knocked back by the Breakers at the start of the season."When that didn't go through, that was nothing personal against the club," Webster said of being unable to link up with Darüşşafaka. "I love being a Breaker; this is where I've played the majority of my pro career."I wasn't out there looking for a deal, I was trying to win with this team. This just happened to come about."Leaving halfway through the season is a little bit disappointing for me, I feel bad a little bit but this is an opportunity that is going to change some things for my family. No one in their right mind would strictly turn it down without even considering it."It's a life changing opportunity for now, but the more important thing for me is I'm returning to the Breakers. My heart's in this club, with everything that's gone on, I still believe in the road we're taking, the focuses and the plans of the club."To cover for the hole Webster leaves, Tall Blacks Shooting Guard Ethan Rusbatch becomes a full rostered player. The 27-year-old initially joined the club in pre-season as a Nominated Replacement Player for Tom Abercrombie.

Tall Blacks 93Montenegro 83There's still work to be done, but the Tall Blacks are alive – and definitely dangerous - at the Basketball World Cup.A 93-83 victory over Montenegro has kept New Zealand in with a chance of advancing to the second round for the fifth consecutive World Cup, but they require one more win - against a more fearsome foe.The impressive win puts the Tall Blacks at 1-1 in Group F, with a +2 points differential after their opening 102-94 loss to Brazil, and their toughest test still to come, against Greece on Thursday night.Brazil's 79-78 upset victory over Greece has made the Tall Blacks' equation simple though - beat Greece, and they move into the second round. Lose, and they don't.Yes, it remains a tough challenge, but it's at least still in the realm of possibility after grinding down a Montenegrin side who lost their cool, their lead, and eventually the game. For a while, it looked as if the Tall Blacks had run into a repeat of their third quarter issues against Brazil. A nine-point halftime lead was cut to just one with a quarter to go, as the speed and fluency which had gifted the Tall Blacks their lead was bogged down amongst foul trouble and subsequently ill-advised lineups. The first half had seen an offensive clinic, with Corey Webster leading the way with multiple triples, and Shea Ili providing his usual spark. The defence was less stellar against a side who scored just 16 first-half points against Greece, but with a judicious use of a press, and some sloppy discipline from Montenegro, they built a 53-44 lead at the break.Perhaps their hot start was slightly unsustainable, as shots started to miss and the speed which had troubled their opponents started to flag. With Ili benched with four fouls and Rob Loe with three, their replacements had less success, and Montenegro's sole NBA star, Nikola Vucevic, started to shine. After scoring just 13 points in the third quarter, the Tall Blacks saw their lead vanish early in the fourth, but coach Paul Henare had settled on the players that would win his side the game. Henare made just three substitutes in the final period, with Webster, Loe and Tom Abercrombie playing the entire fourth quarter, and Webster's hot shooting regaining the lead they had fought so hard for.Webster had another superb offensive showing, finishing with 25 points, six rebounds and seven assists, and after copping an accidental elbow to the face, Isaac Fotu came back to torment the Montenegrin frontcourt, finishing with 20 points and seven rebounds.Montenegro lost their temper as technical fouls started to mount – their coach had already been ejected from the game for his backchat – and with Vucevic bizarrely benched, the Tall Blacks shot their way to an unassailable lead.It will be tougher against Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Greek side. For now, though, the Tall Blacks can reflect on a mission accomplished.

The Tall Blacks rounded out their World Cup preparation with an upset 88-82 victory over world number 13 ranked Italy in Anshan, China.Corey Webster led the team superbly, not only with his 21 points (seven of 16), but with six assists, a figure matched on the night only by his brother Tai.Ethan Rusbatch continuing a superb tour with 11 points (three of five from deep) while Isaac Fotu finished with 11 point and six rebounds.Playing their third game in three days, New Zealand was in control throughout the encounter, establishing an early lead outside the arc with seven three-pointers dropping in the first quarter alone, and nine at halftime (from 16 attempts). The Italians simply had no answer to the quick ball movement and pace of the New Zealanders, who defied the schedule and the odds with one of the bigger wins in Tall Blacks' history. The Tall Blacks shot the three at 50 percent and had 18 assists compared to just eight for the Italians, underlining their philosophy of sharing the ball and looking for one more pass and an open look.Head Coach Paul Henare was delighted for his players, not just in the performance, but to savour a victory over a world class team prior to heading to Nanjing and their first group game against Brazil on September 1st."We have been battling hard for a few weeks now and the schedule we have put these guys through – I think this was our fifth game in seven days against quality opposition, and that has been tough. For our boys to be able to hang mentally tough and walk away with a win was really pleasing for them to get the reward and that winning feeling against a world class side," Henare.Henare said the obvious improvement was in the shooting stats, with the open looks being converted tonight."We are a team that relies on three-point shooting, it is our job as a coaching staff to provide a system that gets them enough open looks. We felt like we had a few against Serbia last night but couldn't knock them down, but the game is a lot easier when you keep the scoreboard ticking over from the three."To go 15 of 30 speaks volumes for the guys hanging tough. Our bigs have shot the ball phenomenally well, Rob Loe has been very consistent, and Tohi Smith-Milner has come on superbly and been consistent from the three for us, but I am happy for all of our guys to knock those shots down."One stat that glared out at the head coach that he would rather not see however was the turnovers, with 25 coughed up by the Tall Blacks."We have actually been pretty good up until tonight, maybe it is a combination of mental fatigue, but we were well short. We lost the possession game; we lost the rebound battle and turned the ball over too many times."The Tall Blacks now head to Nanjing to put the finishing touches on their preparation and freshen up for the match against Brazil on September 1, buoyed by a quality win against a quality Italian side with plenty of NBA and Euro League experience on their roster.

The Tall Blacks have finalised their 12-man squad for the upcoming World Cup in China, with Tom Vodanovich and Taine Murray left out of the squad. The young duo were part of the squad for a series of warm up matches, but after last night's 103-100 overtime loss to Canada were cut from the team as the roster was trimmed from 14 to 12.The side will be led into the World Cup by a host of veterans including Tom Abercrombie and Corey Webster, the latter of whom almost lifted the Tall Blacks to an upset on Wednesday night.Webster had 33 points in the side's second of two matches against Canada, leading a strong attack which bounced back in a big way after an poor outing the night before. After being decimated by the Canadians the previous night, the Tall Blacks made amends in Sydney on Wednesday. The Kiwi side were quick out of the blocks last night, holding a 10-point lead after the opening quarter. The Canadians were able to trim the gap to just three points at half time, before taking a one-point lead of their own into the fourth quarter.Canada led by as many as eight points in the final quarter, however a spirited fight back from the Tall Blacks saw Webster convert on a three-point play to tie the game and send it to over time. The Canadians were too good in the extra period and took a two-game sweep.Tall Blacks coach Paul Henare was pleased with the return to a more typical Tall Blacks effort, based on energy, work rate and an up-tempo offence."That was a much better effort and playing at the required intensity at this level," he said. "That was really good to see the response, obviously we are still disappointed with the result, but knowing the way we can play against quality athleticism, length and what they were doing systematically, it was pleasing to see such a change in such a short turnaround."We have to keep reminding ourselves about how we do those things, through messages, conversations, watching video – it is a good reminder that we can play at that level. It is repeated messages about doing those same things over and over again."The Tall Blacks fly out to China today and will play three more warm up matches before their World Cup opener against Brazil on September 1.Tall Blacks World Cup squadGuards: Tai Webster, Corey Webster, Shea Ili, Jarrod Kenny, Ethan RusbatchForwards: Tom Abercrombie, Finn Delany, Jordan Ngatai, Isaac FotuCentres: Rob Loe, Alex Pledger, Tohi Smith-Milner

The New Zealand Breakers have filled the two remaining import spots on their roster, announcing the additions of American guard Sek Henry and Nigerian centre Chris Obekpa.Much like American signman Soctty Hopson, who was the first import announced by the team, Henry and Obekpa bring a wealth of European experience and add to what is quickly becoming a very strong roster.Henry, 32, brings instant offence to the team and can score in a number of ways. The 2018 Israeli league MVP is a capable three-point shooter, can create for himself, drive into the paint as is strong against fellow guards in the post. Able to play a number of positions, Henry provides depth alongside the likes of Hopson, Corey Webster and Jordan Ngatai. While Henry is a proven scorer, Obekpa's production is less likely to show up in to box scores with the Nigerian 25-year-old joining the club as a defensive powerhouse.A shot blocking force in college, nothing has changed fior Obekpa is his professional career. In 2018, he lead the Turkish Basketball Superleague in blocked shots. While a strong rim protector, Obekpa will be well utilised in the offensive game, bringing a strong pick and roll game which will result in some highlight players throughout the season. The Breakers have also added Australian-Lebanese centre Ater Majok, who joins the club as a local player. Majok, who was selected by the Los Angeles Lakers in the 2011 NBA draft, has already had a taste of the Australian League after a stint with the Perth WIldcats in 2011. Like Obekpa, Majok's shot blocking ability brings an element of excitement to the defensive structure, and is a capable midrange shooter. The 32-year-old might be familiar to some New Zealand basketball fans after playing for Lebanon against the Tall Blacks a couple of times in the past 12 months. The additions confirm the Breakers' 12-man roster for the upcoming season, which starts for the club against the Sydney Kings on October 18. LISTEN ABOVE AS BREAKERS CEO MATT WALSH SPEAKS TO RADIO SPORT BREAKFASTThe New Zealand Breakers' playoff aspirations are finally dead. The Breakers had clung to a mathematical change of turning around their disappointing season, but a 114-107 defeat to the Adelaide 36ers at Spark Arena last night has ended their hopes of making the top four. They fittingly went out with a poor defensive performance, as Adelaide shot 50 per cent from the field and hit 13 of their 25 three-point attempts. Nathan Sobey led the way with 27 points and nine assists for the 36ers, who moved to 14 wins with the victory, sitting in the fourth and final playoff spot. The Breakers have just 10 wins, and with three games remaining have run out of possibilities to sneak in at the last minute. They are likely to finish in second-to-last on the table, ahead of only the hapless 4-21 Cairns Taipans. The loss epitomised their season in some respects. Shawn Long put up gaudy offensive numbers (28 points on 11/13 shooting, with 12 rebounds), and got help from various role players, tonight's chosen two being Patrick Richard (24 points) and Finn Delany (16 points, six rebounds, five assists). However, import Armani Moore was scoreless, Tom Abercrombie merely okay in his 300th game, and Corey Webster and Shea Ili's disappointing campaigns saw them combine for just seven points, one rebound and three assists. There are still three - now utterly meaningless - games to go, but for a season which promised plenty with new ownership, new players and a new coach, the Breakers will now have to determine where they go from here.

Trevlig lyssning! Some say it’s hot. Some say it’s reckless. Some even say it’s totally insane. But we can all agree that it is in fact Thrashin’. In 1986 only one rivalry truly mattered, The Ramp Locals vs The Daggers. The Ramp Locals just wanted to have some summer fun skating around and scooping up the ladies, but Corey Webster, leader of The Ramp Locals, scooped up the wrong one. Chrissy just so happens to be the sister of Tommy Hook, badass leader of The Daggers. After very little plot and an endless amount of montages, will Corey Webster win the race and finally get the girl of his dreams? --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/bmoviebreakdown/support
