David Champion: The Psychological Challenge Of Early Retirement

Retirement is often an ideal detached from reality. When overwhelmed by daily routines, it's easy to imagine retirement as a stress-free life with a blank calendar and complete freedom. However, retirement often brings unexpected psychological challenges, including a lack of purpose, boredom, relationship strain, and a troubling sense of isolation.Today's guest, David Champion, retired from his software development career at 53. Nearly five years later, a line from one of his blog posts for Can I Retire Yet? titled Confessions of an Early Retiree jumped off the page. He wrote: “I am a proponent of retiring as early as possible.” While he had no regrets about retiring early, he later admitted to experiencing significant psychological challenges. In our conversation, David reconciles his “no regrets” view of early retirement with the difficulties of adapting to life without traditional work. Throughout, David highlights the need for self-awareness and embracing one's true identity to find fulfillment in retirement (and climbing). Support this project: Buy Me a CoffeeSubscribe to the newsletter: SUBSCRIBE ME!Show Notes and Links at Clippingchains.com

Well, we can't argue with that when it comes to our convo with David Champion, one blue-eyed brother half of the UK based band CHAMPS, who has dealt with our bothering long before we even got to really bother him. We are so glad we finally got to interview David, because we found out that he and our producer love old watches, and he and our host may have a connection via their dad's going to the same damn boarding school on the Isle of Wight. The Psychedelic Renaissance is a profound step forward in our understanding of the mind, but there’s growing concern that important lessons and a vibrant culture may be left behind in the rush to medicalization. My guest today, Liana Sananda, has spent a lot of time considering the cultural delivery mechanism of psychedelics into society. Liana is the Development Officer of MAPS and co-founder of North Star and the Auryn Project, which just released the North Star pledge. With input from over 100 stakeholders, North Star is setting a foundation for psychedelic values for an emerging industry. The pledge is an initiative by the Auryn Project, authors of last Autumn’s “We Will Call It Pala,” a cautionary tale about the dark side of psychedelic business. On the show, we set a foundation through Liana’s own story from festivals to Occupy to the Archview Group, and MAPS. We talk about the philosophy behind North Star and the unique participatory process of becoming a signatory. We go over each of the seven invitations and how you can join this growing coalition. I also have an exciting announcement! I have been looking for a community building role in the psychedelic space and speaking regularly with Liana over the past year as I explored different organizations. I am proud to announce I’ve accepted a position leading community for Maya, a psychedelic therapy intelligence platform co-founded by my friend, David Champion. Today we are launching the Psychedelic Therapy Podcast a new show for therapists, healers and enthusiasts. If you’d like to help build it, please join us in the Psychedelic Therapy Facebook Group. The psychedelic movement is at a threshold point where it is vitally important to create an attractor coalition of value-driven leadership. However, in order to get this right we need to co-create and move at the speed of trust. David Champion is the CEO of Maya PBC and Co-Founder & Director of Unlimited Sciences, which is a psychedelic research nonprofit that uses the thoughtful and anonymous collection of data to understand how psychedelic therapy can be offered with harm-free, positive outcomes at scale. Prior to this venture, David was the Co-Founder & CPO at Baker Technologies, the leading (and first of its kind) CRM for the cannabis industry. After successfully exiting the company with a valuation of $250MM, he served as a campaign lead in the Denver Psilocybin Initiative, which helped Denver become the first U.S. city to reform the psilocybin policy by decriminalizing the substance.  David graduated summa cum laude in Architecture from Cambridge University and built a nonprofit to help Kenyan children access adequate schooling. Brought up in Papau New Guinea, Portugal and Scotland, he took his wealth of world experience and began his career in New York with Daniel Libeskind, working on the Ground Zero masterplan. David has a decade of experience designing consumer software and cultivating a wide variety of interest in behavioral data, digital art, user experience design, and mindfulness. Now, if you're wondering if there's anything this man hasn't done, just wait to hear how Unlimited Sciences is pairing up with John Hopkins to change the way we approach mental wellness.    We also talk about: How David's formative experiences with psychedelics influenced his interest in the space now. The work of The Zendo Project, a subsidiary of MAPS that works to reduce the number of psychiatric hospitalizations and arrests by creating an environment where volunteers can work alongside one another to improve harm reduction and “sitting” skills during psychedelic experiences. The problematic, binary philosophy presented in the US, where plant medicines are seen as strictly medicinal or strictly recreational. David's involvement in decriminalizing psilocybin in Denver, Colorado. The importance (and enough-ness) of pushing just the first domino down to spark an entire movement. The collaborative efforts among the country's change-makers to bring safe and sustainable entheogen use to the masses. Seeing psychedelic-assisted therapy as a cause, rather than an industry. Cannabis as a product-centric industry, and psychedelics as a service-oriented marketplace. The creation of a longitudinal, observational research study specifically designed to investigate entheogens in a naturalistic setting. The importance of set, setting, onboarding, and integration for safe and meaningful “trips.” How to amplify the neurogenesis component of psilocybin for long-term benefits.   We're on the cusp of discovering how psychedelics can help heal humanity — and we need your help! Billionaire lifestyle with Emmitt Muckles - Conversations with conscious entrepreneurs, solopreneurs and life changers

Facebook – The Billionaire LifeStyle   iTunes  – The Billionaire LifeStyle     Stitcher: – The Billionaire LifeStyle Listen to the Podcast below!     Are you experiencing love, respect, and Free will in their unlimited form? How is your life going? The Presidential election of 2016 she'd a spotlight on our human disconnectedness. We have navigated and landed so far from our beginning with respect to technology, making us a little-unsettled human. We have to examine and own Love, Free will, Respect, Consciousness to progress toward our destiny. Unsettled humans Here is what I mean by unsettled humans. Our daily interaction and dependency on technology birthed a devolved artifact of social interaction. Humans being in the industrialized nations of the world have lost touch with our historical context of being human. David Champion - Move forward with a clearer Understanding. I had the honor of having a very intimate recorded conversation with psychic David Champion. Upon until contact with David, I anticipated the promotion of his services would be the topic of our exchange. To my surprise what transpired was a conversation covering Free will, love, hate and best of all consciousness. Our podcast was a portion of the conversation between David and I. It started as a telephone call with me trying to craft an interview. After 60 minutes on the phone with David, I hit the record button. Love Respect, Free Will, & Consciousness Love Love is the reason we all are alive today. We are driven by the most powerful force in the universe, yet humans are driven by lesser emotions in many instances such as fear. The subject of love was intertwined through our dialogue. The opinion David gave me is love should be the priority. We have exhausted in war,  harm, greed, and anything but unconditional love. Most of our problem seems to stem from our apparent human differences versus concentrating our energy on our similarities and common struggles. We all have the same problems, want and requirements at the end of the day. Consciousness We spoke briefly about consciousness. Life displays just how unconscious we are in or day-to-day activities. Constantly our world population has become dependent and hopelessly tied to virtual relationships facilitated with and through electronic devices. We are simply not conscious of our environment. There is evidence all around us in the form of fake news and politicians who openly lie to our face with total acceptance by the public. Relationships are even on autopilot, there is little work involved to cultivate many relationships. The status quo is to accept what you can get, instead of choosing the best compliment.   [caption id="attachment_1031" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Open your heart and learn to love and Respect outside yourself.[/caption] Free will A sense of surprise is a state of being I often feel when the topic of free will is not discussed in all circles more often. Free will is your ability to have a choice in all areas of your life. So many people take the Free will for granted and fall back on the "it's not my fault" premise. During our discussion, David and I commonly understood we all have a choice. The power of choice is the force moving us towards our betterment. Own your free will. Relationships and Spiritual Counseling w/ David Champion, Clairvoyant At the age of 9, I was answering the phone by greeting the callers by name until my father made it quite clear that he'd prefer I stopped; it was unnerving to those calling the house! That's when and how the gift first presented itself, and many other interesting and unusual events occurred over the years which either confused me or saved me. It would not be practical to tell you about all of them here, but I will share one: when I was in my early twenties, I prayed to God for roots. I felt I needed stability in my life and specifically asked for “roots.” Just a few short moments after that prayer I met my future wife, whose maiden name was Root! (We will be celebrating our 44th wedding anniversary this month (Sept.) Psychic experiences continued to occur from time to time after that, but I really didn't understand them nor, for that matter, want them! While I was a graduate student in 1980, and working part-time at a funeral home, the psychic gift “flared up.” One evening I received a call and at the end of the conversation I said, “I don't understand why, but I believe I know everything about you.” The person then asked me several questions, all of which I answered correctly. That had been an interesting incident, but I didn't think it signified anything special. But the following morning when my shift was over I went to a neighborhood grocery store and while in the checkout line I observed the cashier and knew she was upset. She rang up my items and as she put the change in my hand I told her, “Your brother in a Wisconsin hospital will be okay.” She looked at me … screamed … and began crying!!  For more information visit: http://www.davidchampion.com/

Movin' On UpThe 1970s was the touchstone for transformation in two important American industries. The world of television was changed forever by producer Norman Lear with ground-breaking shows like 'All In The Family' and its successful spinoff whose theme song has given us this week's headline, 'The Jeffersons.'But at the same time that TV was "movin' on up" the U.S. automotive industry was starting a decades long decline. Fueled by OPEC in tandem with the rise of the imports, the Big Three produced model after model of lower quality cars and they began to pay the price. And we all know what price they eventually paid. But since the start of the new century the 'downgraded' Detroit Three have been on the road back. Designing and building better cars that are not only attracting both old and new customers into showrooms, but they're starting to appear on lists that many consumers use to shop for vehicles. One of those tabulations -- the Consumer Reports Reliability Rankings -- was just released and David Champion, the Senior Director of its Auto Test Division joins John McElroy as his guest on this week's Autoline. Doron Levin of AOL Autos and Fortune Magazine and Scott Burgess, Autocritic of The Detroit News, join John and David to talk about today's best cars.

This week's Live and Direct, episode number 10, is about the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) and the illegal and unconstitutional federal income tax. This podcast version is 1:00:47 long and the file size is 21.9MB. The podcast includes an extra 7 minute clip at the end about so-called tax criminals who were harassed and brutalized by the IRS, including a family whose small business and personal life was scrutinized mercilessly by the IRS, though they had done no wrong and had in fact paid their taxes, and a historic celebrity boxer during WWII named Joe Lewis whose winnings, though donated entirely to others, were taxed by the IRS, putting him so deeply into debt that his once-hated opponent paid for his funeral. Some talking points from the clips I played follow. Remember:The 16th Amendment was never legally ratified by the states. The federal income tax is a direct, unapportioned tax, which is illegal as per the Constitution. As Catherine Fitts (former Assistant Secretary of Housing) explained, the government's use of tax money is not reported, nor will they disclose the breakdown of their expenditures upon request, as they are legally required to do.The federal income tax money you pay only goes to the U.S. debt, as Reagan's investigative commission found."Income" is undefined in the tax code, though it is defined in the Constitution (the definition of which the tax code contradicts).Income is not wages or labor, it is gains from corporate activity (as defined in the Constitution).Your labor is your private property, as per the Supreme Court. The 16th Amendment (which was never legally ratified, remember) gave no new powers of taxation. So, if former IRS agents and government officials are no longer paying taxes, why are we? If tens of millions of people do not pay taxes (so says Sherry Jackson, former IRS agent) because they do not wish to continue propping up this illegal and unconstitutional perversion of governmental authority, why should we?Also, I missed this the first time: If you are audited, put in a FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) request asking to be shown applicable statutes and laws under which your income is taxed and the records substantiating the audit.Check out filmmaker Aaron Russo's site freedomtofascism.com. As I previously mentioned, there are news updates, blog entries, and video interviews there. You can watch the film online if you have a broadband connection. You may also rent or buy the movie on DVD. You should also check out David Champion's site nontaxpayer.org. An article on the America Patriot Friends Network site has some interesting things to say about taxation. Googling "How to STOP the IRS" cd will turn up some interesting research that a fellow named Eugene Kernan has compiled on exactly what to send the government to get them off of your trail as far as taxes. He wants $400 for the CD of materials, research, and instructions. While I understand he has gone to some effort to make this information available, $400 is expensive for a CD. I'll try to see if I can turn it up for less than that; I'll keep you posted. Furthermore, as you can see by searching the Internet, there have been many individual victories over the IRS as well as Supreme Court decisions recognizing the illegality of the federal income tax. The problem is that the lower courts do not recognize this. The more people that help make their others, the media, and their elected officials aware of this sham, the closer we will come to turning the tide of coercion foisted upon the American people. Some people say two things are inevitable: death, and taxes. Myself, I'm not so sure about the latter. Thanks for listening. Please weigh in with your thoughts on this or any of my topics.
