It's crazy how material works in some places and not others - just ask stand-up comic Ralph Anthony. In his interview with Art of Bombing's host Dan Bublitz Jr, he recalls his most influential quote from George Carlin:“If it works on Thursday and it works on Friday but not on Saturday: it's the crowd.” What that means to Anthony is: that you can't be too hard on yourself. Ralph tells us that you have to give yourself some time, space, and grace if you want to be successful at any performance art.In this episode, you'll learn the goal of a corporate gig, the balance of material and crowd work, and how every great comic has a system. Ralph Anthony digs deep with Dan on this one to show him EXACTLY how his system works. Give the episode a listen and you may learn how to take your game to the next level. Plus more!Ralph AnthonyRalph Anthony is a New York City based comedian and writer whose material is primarily derived from his stories and unique observations of the world we live in. A high energy goofball with lots to say, Anthony was deemed “the Mouth” by his childhood friends and hasn't stopped making people laugh since. He's traveled overseas to Europe where he's performed at some the top shows and clubs in London and Paris. His credits also include the NY Comedy Festival, World Comedy Expo, the NY Underground Comedy Festival, DC Comedy Festival, NC Comedy Festival, the World Series of Comedy, Sirius XM, ESPN, being a featured headliner for the Bonkerz Comedy Club chain, as well as headlining Caroline's on Broadway. Most recently, Anthony released his debut comedy album, "40 for 40," which is available on all streaming services.https://www.ralphthemouth.com/Art of Bombing:"Nobody Had a Podcast Called The Art of Bombing" Theme by John Hult https://johnhult.bandcamp.com/album/half-a-life-to-recoverBumpers provided by https://www.facebook.com/joenicolamusic Website: https://www.artofbombingpod.com/ Links: https://linktr.ee/artofbombingpodHosts:Dan Bublitz Jr: http://www.danbublitz.com/ Josh Shirley: http://www.joshshirleycomedy.com

This is a fun episode.  Today Denise interviews Stanford grads and Brooklyn comedians Carolyn Doyle and Emily Kop. Always wanting to understand and relate to the younger generation, we found these two 20-somethings by listening to their podcast called OKAY STUPID.  While listening Denise found herself gasping as they spoke so personally about their lives - including their sex lives. We wanted to learn more - about them, their podcast, their relationship with their parents and of course, their generation.Caroline grew up in San Francisco and has performed stand-up in Chicago, Berlin, the Bay Area and New York, as well as at comedy festivals like SF Sketchfest, the DC Comedy Festival, and Big Little Comedy Fest.  She's also a contributor to Reductress and McSweeney's.
