Synopsis Today we have a letter to read, written by Mozart in the middle of May in the year 1778. Mozart was in Paris, 22 years old, and had this to say to his father back in Salzburg: “I think I told you in my last letter,” wrote Mozart, “that the Duc de Guines plays the flute extremely well, and that his daughter is my pupil in composition. She also plays the harp magnifique. She has a great deal of talent, even genius, and in particular a marvelous memory so that she can play all her pieces, actually about 200, by heart. It is, however, extremely doubtful as to whether she has any talent for composition, especially as regards invention or ideas.” The Duc de Guines was the former French ambassador to London and believed by Mozart's father to be in the inner circle of the French Queen Marie Antoinette, and hence a contact well worth cultivating. De Guines commissioned Mozart to write a double concerto for himself on flute and daughter on harp. Mozart complied with a courtly Concerto in C Major. Four months after delivering the music, Mozart had to report to his father that he still hadn't seen any payment for his efforts! Music Played in Today's Program W.A. Clara Andrada, die Soloflötistin des hr-Sinfonieorchesters und des Chamber Orchestra of Europe, spricht über ihre Liebe zu ihrem Instrument und wie es war, nach dem Studium ohne Deutschkenntnisse ins Orchester zu kommen, warum Chefdirigenten wichtig sind für ein Orchester, warum sie Piccolo-, aber nicht Traversflöte spielt und warum sie nur ein paar Solokonzerte pro Jahr gibt.

Poslušamo posnetek enega zadnjih živih koncertov, ki so potekali še pred epidemijo, in sicer koncerta cikla Mladi virtuozi, ki je potekal v začetku marca lani v Viteški dvorani Križank. Na koncertu je takrat nastopila Laura Felicijan, ki je na Akademiji za glasbo študentka drugega letnika magistrskega študija v razredu Mateja Zupana. Svoje prve glasbene korake je naredila pri svojih sedmih na Glasbeni šoli Frana Koruna Koželjskega v Velenju, kjer je potem obiskovala tudi srednjo stopnjo izobraževanja v razredu Katarine Šantl Zupan, nato pa se je vpisala na akademijo. Poleg tega se udeležuje tudi različnih mojstrskih tečajev, pogosto pa nastopa tudi na tekmovanjih. S kvartetom Four characters je recimo zmagala na našem TEMSIG-u, kot solistka pa je bila uspešna tudi na mednarodnem tekmovanju v Romuniji, kjer je v finalu nastopila s tamkajšnjo filharmonijo Sibius. Za nastop v okviru cikla Mladi virtuozi je izbrala Sonato za flavto in klavir v Es-duru, op. 18 Richarda Straussa, ki je bila sicer izvirno napisana za violino, za flavto pa jo je priredil sloviti flavtist Emmanuel Pahud.

It is the interview I recorded in the Philharmonie in Berlin when I was there for the cycle of 9 Beethoven symphonies with the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Sir Simon Rattle. I was lucky enough to spend some time with the principal flute of the Berlin Philharmonic, Emmanuel Pahud and we had a relaxed chat about the Beethoven symphonies, the newly appointed conductor of the BPO and a host of other related matters.
