Avtorja razstave sta dr. Matej Klemenčič in dr. Katra Meke.

Ravel - Sheherazade Ravel - Le Tombeau de Couperin Gershwin - The Man I love Ravel - Miroirs - door Egorov Dumond - Hommage a Ravel JP de Graaff - YPF (concerttip) Delage - ? Matthaus - Rob Vermeulen / Johannette Zomer (concerttip) eindstuk: Kilar - Exodus Een Zwitserse horlogemaker.

[..] [..] The Philippines is known for its vibrant culture, beautiful scenery and tasty cuisine. However, while many are familiar with the delicious flavors of Filipino cooking, few understand the complexity and resilience behind it. Barok and Takya Bisaya Podcast episode “Filipino Tears for the Power of Onion in the Philippines” uncovered an interesting phenomenon - why onion price has become so expensive yet remains an integral part of Filipino cooking. Through their journey to understand why onions are so crucial to Filipinos, they have revealed how this humble ingredient can stir up memories and emotions, even when onion prices are high. Listen to Barok and Takya as they explore the power of onion, and learn why Filipinos tear and remain resilient despite challenging times.      The Price of Onions   In their Filipino Bisaya podcast episode, Barok and Takya discussed how onions have become increasingly expensive over the past few months due to poor harvests, market forces and natural disasters in significant farms in the Philippines. The result? Filipinos now pay triple or even quadrupled the price for onions compared to before these disasters occurred. Yet, despite this high cost, Filipinos continue to use onion as a critical ingredient in their cooking because of its powerful flavor profile and ability to bring out other ingredients' taste.   The Power Of Our Culture    Despite these hardships, it is remarkable how Filipinos have managed to stay connected with their culture through food. In spite of rising onion prices, Filipinos are still finding ways to make delicious meals with whatever ingredients they can get at affordable prices. Barok and Takya remind us that even in hard times, we can come together to enjoy a meal full of love and emotion. We should recognize this strength and ingenuity as a testament to our culture's ability to persevere through difficult times!     Resilience During Hard Times    Barok and Takya also remind us that resilience is essential during challenging times like these. Many Filipinos have found creative solutions so that they can continue enjoying meals with friends and family without breaking the bank. From using alternative ingredients like shallots instead of onions or making spring onion dishes—Filipino cooks prove time and time again that they are capable of overcoming any obstacle in order to provide meals full of flavor, love, and emotion!        Conclusion:   Barok and Takya's episode has opened our eyes to why onion is so costly right now and to how resilient Filipinos are when faced with challenges—especially when it comes to mealtime! They remind us that even when things seem harsh, we can still find joy in cooking delicious dishes with whatever ingredients we have available, stirring up memories along the way! We should be grateful for our culture's ability to persevere through hard times—it is truly inspiring!   We're so grateful that you took the time to listen to our Filipino podcast in the Cebuano language, and we hope you enjoyed it. Luxury Brands: Words can Mean Differently to Everyone

In today's world, especially on social media, it is easy for anyone to say and comment on what they want, even if it hurts another person's feelings. We've all seen viral stories where someone has been bashed online for their choices or beliefs, but this recent story of Zoey and her Charles and Keith bag has struck a chord in many people. On their Filipino Bisaya podcast episode "Luxury Brands: Words Can Mean Differently to Everyone," Barok and Takya will explore what Luxury means to them.   What is a luxury to one person may not mean the same thing to another person. In Zoey's case, her parents gifted her the bag from Charles & Keith, which was precious and meaningful to her even though it wasn't as expensive or well-known as other luxury brands like Gucci, Louis Vuitton or Dolce & Gabbana. Each person has a unique perspective on what Luxury means to them, and that's part of what makes life so interesting. We all come from different backgrounds, have experienced other things in life, and have different perspectives on what matters most—including our idea of Luxury.    Barok and Takya believe that Luxury isn't just about expensive brands; instead, its personal definition depends upon the individual. For some people, owning a Chanel or Ralph Lauren is considered luxurious—but that doesn't mean those items are inaccessible or unaffordable for others. Ultimately, Luxury should be celebrated from different perspectives—no one should be shamed for not having enough money to buy a particular brand or item.   In their topic discussions, Barok and Takya also talk about how these luxury brands are subjective—their meaning may change depending on your background, culture, experiences etc., which makes it so much more special than just being able to purchase something expensive. They want to emphasize that everyone can experience Luxury in different ways; you don't have to buy exclusive designer items or products in order to enjoy a luxurious lifestyle!   Conclusion:   Barok and Takya hope that after listening to their Filipino Bisaya podcast episode "Luxury Brands: Words Can Mean Differently To Everyone," people will better understand what Luxury means beyond expensive brands. They believe that everyone should be able to define Luxury as something special and unique based on their own individual perspective, like happiness, rather than relying solely on material possessions or financial wealth as criteria for measuring success or affluence. After all, true wealth lies in your mindset rather than your bank balance!     Thank you for listening to the Barok and Takya Bisaya Podcast. It means a lot that you took the time out of your day to listen to us babble on about whatever topic we decided to rant about today. We appreciate your support and hope our Filipino Pinoy podcast in the Bisaya language can be a source of entertainment, knowledge, or both when you need it. If you have suggestions for future topics or feedback in general, please don't hesitate to reach out to us via social media or our website. Have a great day, bayan!

The Pressure on Filipinos that Nobody Talks About Christmas

It's the most wonderful time of the year! That's what we all like to think, but for many Filipino families, there is an invisible pressure that comes with Christmas. In a recent Filipino Bisaya podcast episode from Barok and Takya, this unspoken pressure was discussed by these two Pinoy podcast hosts. Let's explore why so many Filipinos feel overwhelmed during the holiday season, from Ninong and Ninang (Godparents) to Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs or OFW Pinoy).    The Challenges Faced by Ninong and Ninang (Godparents) During Christmas    Barok said that for many Filipino families, it is customary for godparents (Ninong and Ninang) to give gifts to their godchildren on special occasions such as birthdays or even Christmas. Unfortunately, this custom has placed a lot of financial pressure on many godparents who struggle financially themselves but still feel obligated to give gifts or offer financial support in other ways. To make matters worse, there is a perception of shame if godparents do not fulfill these obligations, leaving them even more stressed.     The Challenges Faced by OFWs During Christmas    On top of that, according to Takya, many OFW Pinoy struggles to send money back home during the holidays as they are already working hard to provide for their immediate family's needs. Therefore, they must prioritize appropriately and make tough decisions when it comes to who gets the money first - their family members or extended family members. This often results in guilt, stress, and anxiety among OFWs as they try to make sure everyone is taken care of during this special time of year.      Conclusion:    As you can hear from just this brief discussion between Barok and Takya, there is much more going on behind the scenes than meets the eye when it comes to Christmas in the Philippines. It's important that we continue having conversations like these to gain insight into how our fellow Filipinos feel during this special time of year. Christmas may be filled with joy for many people. Still, it can also be a stressful period for those who are struggling financially or physically unable to be with their families due to work commitments overseas or other reasons. We should all take a moment this holiday season to acknowledge the difficulties faced by our fellow Filipinos both at home and abroad so that we can better understand how we can come together as one community in spite of our differences. Let us strive towards creating an environment where everyone feels supported regardless of their circumstances - that way, and we can all enjoy the true spirit of Christmas together! Maayong Pasko bayan!!!     We appreciate you taking the time to listen to our Filipino Pinoy podcast in the Cebuano language. Barok and Takya: Living the Tradition of Simbang Gabi

From the moment we are born, traditions shape and define our lives. Every culture has unique rituals, celebrations, and beliefs that bring people together and create a sense of belonging and community. One such tradition is the Simbang Gabi—a popular Filipino Christmas tradition—which Barok and Takya explore in their Filipino Bisaya podcast episode. Barok and Takya explore what makes this traditional celebration so unique and how it brings joy to Filipinos all over the world.   What is Simbang Gabi? Simbang Gabi is a nine-day religious event in December leading up to Christmas day in the Philippines. Each morning from December 16th through December 24th, Filipino Catholics attend dawn masses (known as simbang gabi or Misa de Gallo) held at their local churches or chapels. The mass is usually followed by a Feast Day, where people gather for food, drinks, and Christmas carols. It's truly a joyful occasion!   Why is Simbang Gabi important? Simbang Gabi has been celebrated since the 16th century when Spanish friars introduced it to Filipinos—and it's still practiced today by millions of Filipinos around the world. It is an essential part of Filipino culture because it symbolizes hope and faith during difficult times. The nine days of Simbang Gabi remind Filipinos that they are never alone; they have family members who will be there for them no matter what life throws their way.   How do you live out this tradition? For Pinoy podcasters, Barok and Takya, living out this tradition mean attending their local Simbang Gabi ceremonies each year with family members and friends, praying together for peace and harmony throughout the world. They also talk about how they start each ceremony with a traditional song called "Ang Pasko Ay Kay Saya", followed by carols like "Christmas in Our Hearts", which fill them with warmth and happiness during this cold breeze of December.    Conclusion: Traditions can be your anchor when times get tough, no matter where you come from or how far you've traveled from home. For many Overseas Filipino Workers living abroad, celebrating Simbang Gabi is one way to stay connected to their roots while bringing joy into their lives during this particular time of year. So why not take some time out of your day to listen to the Barok and Takya Bisaya Podcast about this beautiful celebration? Why Not Tell the Truth? The Surprising Reasons People Lie

In today's society, it seems like lying is becoming more and more commonplace. Whether it's to avoid getting in trouble or to make ourselves look better, we often lie without even thinking about it. But why do we do this? Is there a reason that compels us to hide the truth? This Barok and Takya Bisaya Podcast episode: Why Not Tell the Truth? In the Surprising Reasons People Lie, we look closely at the surprising reasons people lie and what motivates them to do so. We also explore the effects of lying on both the individual and society as a whole.    In their Bisaya Podcast episode, the reasons given by Barok and Takya are surprising and may cause some to rethink their previous assumptions about why people lie. One reason for not telling the truth is that it can be used as a form of self-protection. This is especially true in cases where the truth could be used against someone or where it could lead to them being hurt in some way. In other cases, people may lie to avoid conflict or to make others feel better. However, lying can also have negative consequences, causing distrust and further deception. As Barok and Takya point out, sometimes the truth is more important than protecting ourselves or others from hurt feelings. When we choose to tell the truth, we show that we are capable of trust and integrity.   So if you're curious about why people lie, give this episode a listen!
