On Monday's Mark Levin Show, a government shutdown is a paid vacation for bureaucrats, but most Americans don't get paid if their place of business is shut down. However, the real shut down is how Biden surrogates are poised to threaten Republican members of Congress and anyone in the media to shut them down with litigation if they dare mention any of the revelations of the Biden crime family. Lucky for the Biden's, most of those working in major media are America-hating leftists. Then, Sam Bankman-Fried, the founder of the FBX crypto exchange that just bilked investors out of billions, was arrested at the request of the U.S Department of Justice in the Bahamas on the eve of his testimony before Congress. AG Merrick Garland, like a good mob lawyer, will do anything to silence Fried and his status as a Democrat mega-donor. Afterward, the Stalinist-like Department of Justice has storywriters for prosecutors that are hellbent on indicting former President Donald Trump. Any supposed trial would be in Washington D.C and would therefore be unfair. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Is Effective Altruism Right? #3: Émile Torres

As we go deeper down the rabbithole of Effective Altruism, it's time to hear from some critical perspectives. Émile Torres, a PhD candidate in philosophy at Leibniz Universität Hannover in Germany and author of the forthcoming 'Human Extinction: A History of the Science and Ethics of Annihilation' (Routledge), has been one of the most prominent critics of an increasingly-popular philosophy within the EA community called 'longtermism,' or the idea that current humans have a responsibility to far-off generations of people yet to be born millions of years into the future or further, and that consequentially, problems facing present humanity may not be as bad as they look if they don't threaten our overall survival as a species. In our talk with Émile, we discuss their recent salon.com article examining the recent collapse of EA-aligned billionaire Sam Bankman-Fried (AKA SBF) and his crypto exchange FTX in the context of the longtermist philosophy that SBF publicly aligned himself with. Along the way, we talk about the academic discipline of 'eschatology,' or the study of end times, about EA as a philosophy and as a movement, and about the appropriate level of fear that one should have toward so-called 'existential risks.'Émile can be found on Twitter @xriskology. You can visit their website at https://www.xriskology.com.Read Émile's recent Salon.com article about Sam Bankman-Fried, FBX, and longtermism here.Read Émile's Current Affairs piece on longtermism here. This episode was edited by Dan Thorn (@danieljtvthorn) of Pink Noise Studios in Somerville, MA, and it features theme music by Danny Bradley. Is the housing market actually in trouble? All the clickbait articles and doomsayers would have you believe so, but the facts are very different. In this episode, Toby Mathis of Anderson Business Advisors welcomes Neal Bawa back to the show. Neal is the founder and CEO of Grocapitus, a commercial real estate investment company, and CEO of MultifamilyU, an apartment investing education company. He's known as the Mad Scientist of Multifamily and uses the power of numbers to acquire properties and create profit for investors. Neal walks us through the facts and data surrounding our economy right now, and looks at historical trends to predict that by mid to late 2023, we will probably be looking at much better interest rates than we're seeing currently. People may not realize that in the global economy, the U.S. is still one of the cheapest real estate markets, relative to individual salaries, and Neal explains that we're actually lucky that we have a Fed that can help correct our markets when they begin to spiral out of control. Highlights/Topics: Fed rates: look at nine past recessions to see how the market corrects Freight costs: watch container costs from China to predict global demand S. economy: we are the strongest in the world, other countries are much worse off than we are currently Clickbait: ignore the noise and alarmist articles you see on social media, look for the data and facts Unemployment and housing demand: demand will return to normal, but prices will remain high Retail and Travel: performing/demand is better than ever Europe's housing market: the majority of properties are owned by investors Looking at historical data: the 2007/08 bubble is the only anomaly of the last 100 years! Liquidity: get yours in line now while it's cheap The U.S. real estate market: compared to India, China, Europe, it's the cheapest in the world relative to individual salaries Resources: Gro Capitus Website https://www.grocapitus.com/ MultiFamily Website https://multifamilyu.com/ Listen to Neal's previous appearance https://andersonadvisors.com/podcast/real-estate-investing-with-analytics/ Fbx.freightos.com https://fbx.freightos.com/ Anderson Advisors https://andersonadvisors.com/ Anderson Advisors on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaL-wApuVYi2Va5dWzyTYVw

We pick up where we left off, with Part 2 of Alan’s interview with Kent Bye, host of the Voices of VR Podcast. In this half, the two VR podcast hosts discuss the ethics of XR, building a strong economic ecosystem for emerging technologies, the AR Cloud, and more. Alan: Coming up next on the XR for Business Podcast, we have part 2 of the interview with Kent Bye from the Voices Of VR podcast, the podcast that got me started in this industry. I’m actually one of the founding members of the Open Air Cloud Group and Kronos Group is is really kind of trying to pull together these standards for 3D, as well for e-commerce. I know there’s a group right now trying to standardize 3D objects for e-commerce and retail because right now it’s a dog’s breakfast. Facebook accepts glTFs, Hololens is FBX models, VR is usually OBJs. So you have all these different 3D file formats. None of them really work well together and you can’t– it’s not easy to convert one to the other. And then of course, Apple came along and created USDZ. Or in Canada, USDZed. It’s crazy right now to think that there’s fifteen different 3D model types and it’s kind of like we need to settle on the JPG of 3D, whatever that happens to be, which in my opinion is probably glTF. But I think we need to standardize that and just pick, it so that– can imagine trying to send a photo to somebody and you send it in one format. And we saw this 10 years ago on the Web, just– it was 10 different ways to send a photo in different formats. Your camera would take one format, and it wouldn’t work with your MacBook. I think the tolerance for interoperability, I think the world just demands interoperability now. And if you’re not building for that, well, then you’re going to end up like Facebook and get broken apart. Kent: Yeah. And I published a podcast with the managing director of Open AR Cloud, and one of the other founding members. And yeah, they were talking a lot about these various different issues. So, yeah, it’s something that you don’t see necessarily a lot of news on, until– unless you’re sort of deep into the weeds of helping design these protocols. But I did go to the Decentralized Web Summit last year, and one of the things that I saw was that there’s kind of like this pendulum that swings back and forth between the centralized systems and the decentralized systems. And I’d say that with cryptocurrency, with the containers being able take different aspects of a server and be able to push it out to the edge. We have it self-contained within either Kubernetes or Docker containers. And just in general, it’s kind of a movement away from centralized systems into more decentralized architectures. That’s a interesting trend that I think that paying attention to the rise of the decentralized web and what that is going to afford. I feel like it’s a lot more about open protocols and collaboration and having people collaborate in different ways. And that’s something that I’d say has been a little bit lacking within the VR and AR industry. I mean, there’s been a certain amount of not sharing of knowledge, but in terms of like real meaningful collaboration. There’s been a few things like OpenXR and WebXR are of the big standouts, as well as probably the Chromium browsers that a lot of different companies are working on. But in terms of specific things to grow an ecosystem, it’s been difficult for companies to figure out what does it mean to grow community and what it mean to grow an entire ecosystem that you may be a part of. And I feel like the cryptocurrency world has had to deal with that a little bit, in the sense that they’re creating these open protocols, and they have to prove that there’s a buy-in to pe

Part 4 is an additional video to the 3D round tripping series and this will cover the workflow on how to create the PBR textures in Maya as opposed to Flame. So unlike the previous videos where the substance PBRs were created and applied in Flame before sending the FBX to Maya, part 4 will show you how to start in Maya 2018.1 and enable the ShaderFX materials and apply the StingrayPBS material to a model. You can set the physical based properties like Roughness and Metallic and these will be applied to the Shader node when the FBX is imported into Flame. You also have the ability to apply EXR images as textures maps that will embedded in the FBX and correctly applied in Flame. Finally, this video continues the trend of maintaining a scene-linear workflow, so ensure you set both Flame and Maya to work in Scene-linear Rec709/sRGB.

This three-part series takes you through a round tripping workflow between Autodesk Flame and Autodesk Maya in a linear colour pipeline using the FBX interchange format. Please be aware that this is not actually 3D application specific. In part 1, you'll import a 3D model into Flame and relight it with image-based lighting. You'll also retexture geometry with Substance physical based textures as well as reverse a 3D camera move. You also identify issues that could potentially make you go back to the 3D application to fixing or tweaking. You'll end off exporting a FBX with the various settings and go through what is supported via the round tripping workflow.

You'll learn how to match the 3D scene to Flame as well as check what was carried over during the import. You'll examine the materials and colour space settings as well as fix a model's UV mapping. You will also refine a few meshes to make them look better. And don't forget clients may also want changes to the 3D geometry. This video will conclude by exporting the 3D scene as a FBX to be round-tripped back to Flame.

In part 3, you conclude the 3D round tripping workflow by importing the new FBX into Flame and matching all the various settings to the original action composite. You'll redo the IBL which is not supported in the FBX and you'll also reapply the substance PBR textures to any baked materials that you'd like to tweak further in Flame.

In part 1 of importing 3D Geometry in Flame, we look at the redesigned import workflow. This includes the new read file functionality which allows you to link directly to an external 3D model. This could be either an FBX or Alembic file and through its general settings you could perform general post import operations like caching, 3D scene refresh and overall 3D geometry behavior in the Action composite.

My special guest this week is YOU! Welcome to the virtual pub, where you and I get drunk on social media. I sipped on a Sam Adams Porch Rocker this week while I discussed the following topics... The Life of an Entrepreneur and Life/Work Balance The nice thing about recording by myself this week is that it gave me an opportunity to give you some insight into some of the things I'm dealing with. I don't have it all figured out, and I go through many of the struggles you do. My life has been incredibly busy lately, and a big reason for that is baseball. I'm a huge baseball fan, and my three boys are all now playing. I coached my two oldest boys this year, and it was definitely the most fulfilling season I've had. This busy baseball season came at the expense of business. I simply didn't have time to take on another client, start an online program or redesign my site. You pick and choose what is worthwhile, right? That said, I am working on the redesign of my site. I'll continue to use Genesis Framework, but I am moving to a mobile responsive theme (more on that soon!).  I'm also working on a new online training program. I've been working on and delaying this for months, but I'm hoping to finally go public soon. I'll be opening for pre-pays shortly, giving early arrivals a big discount. Stay tuned! If you haven't noticed, I'm making my One-on-One Coaching Sessions a higher priority for my business. This has been a hugely successful program, both for my clients and for my business. Simply go to JonLoomer.com to reserve a session. You'll have 45 minutes to get one-on-one time with me to talk about whatever your issues are with Facebook or content marketing. Just for listening to today's show, you get a discount. Listen for the promo code! Facebook Hashtags The big news is that Facebook has launched hashtags. So, what are they? How should you use them? And what are the problems with hashtags? I discuss these things in great detail.   Tools I Use   People often ask me about what tools I use or recommend that make my Facebook marketing easier. I wrote a post on this, but here are the main ones and a short description:   ShortStack: What I've used for a year and a half to build all of my Facebook tabs. Love this tool!   AgoraPulse: Can be used for creating tabs, community management and a whole lot more. I use it for data analysis.   PerfectAudience: One of the tools I use to create FBX -- Facebook retargeted ads. This is the future of Facebook marketing. Use this link to get a free $70 trial -- this covers the ads themselves, too!   AdRoll: Another service that I use to create FBX ads. Use this link to get a free $60 trial that covers everything including the ads.   PropelAd: Helps you understand which posts you should promote based on interaction. I also use this to get alerts when posts are doing especially well.   PostPlanner: This tool has been a lifesaver for me regarding bulk scheduling Facebook posts. But also great for many problems associated with Facebook community management and content development.   Sit back and enjoy. CHEERS!
