FLCL is a landmark in the anime world. It serves as a launching point for well loved Studio Trigger titles that came after including one we loved in camp Shmanime – Kill La Kill. This show is a roller coaster that is all over the map, but it is clearly a free expression of the unbound imagination and artistry of it's creators. It's a show that doesn't take itself seriously which allows the viewer to take every wild idea at face value. It's clunky and janky in a lot of ways, but it's too fun not to enjoy. Drive your Vespa to your friends house and smoke them in the head with your Rickenbacker bass and then watch FLCL and then watch us chat about it!SPOILER ALERT!!!Save this episode for later if you want to experience this show without a high-energy, often heated, very thorough discourse on it's high and low points. What is Fooly Cooly? A very good question that Jack and guest Mark Elliot struggle to answer! The crew of Bill, Matt, and Andy dive into the deep end of craziness as they review the very first episode of the OVA, "Fooly Cooly." This week the class goes back to an anime classic "FLCL". This coming-of-age story was originally created by Kazuya Tsurumaki and the staff of Gainax, Production I.G, and King Records. This brilliant sexually charged anime that's barely about sex follows our main protagonist "Naota" and his journey in learning how to become an adult. Along the way, we meet a wonderful wacky cast of characters and personalities that help balance and make this anime even weirder than any other show you've seen before. So tune in this week as we iron out those wrinkles, and hear what our thoughts are on this original anime classic and what themes we took away as being most important to us!
We wrap our thoughts on Fooly Cooly (and get the definition of the slang term) and discuss whether we enjoyed the show or not. Bridget gets some news that upsets her about The Legend of Korra. The Pillows are a great band.Watch Fooly Cooly (or FLCL) on Hulu or Funimation.Watch Your Lie in April on Funimation (sub & dub), Hulu (sub & dub) and Crunchyroll (sub). https://linktr.ee/GatewayAnimePodcast
Apologies for the weird audio errors the past week! It's now corrected. Bridget and Lauren talk about the last 3 episodes of Fooly Cooly, the music, the animation style choices (and the wide variety of them in episode 5) and that, maybe this show doesn't stand the test of time.Watch Fooly Cooly (or FLCL) with us on Hulu or Funimation.https://linktr.ee/GatewayAnimePodcast

We review FLCL. We're taking you back to the 2003 era of Adult Swim anime with the show that goes by many names: FLCL, Fooly Cooly, and Furi Kuri. But what exactly is "furi kuri?" What is this show even about? And why does Naota sprout mechs out of his head every time he's turned on? We attempt (and struggle) to answer all these questions and explain one of the most inexplicable anime. GRAB YOUR RICKENBACKERS THIS ONES A TRIP AND A HALF. Today's episode we go face first in to the 6-episode anime epic, FLCL (pronounced Fooly Cooly in case you're uncultured). Adult Swim snatched this up for their Toonami Midnight run a million years ago and I guarantee it went over most of our heads. However, as we aged, we learned the deeper philosophies, caught more references, and on top of it all, our ADHD had a much fiercer grip on our lives, so we probably understood way too much or way too little. Either way, we're 10000000% on board with the soundtrack so kick back with The Pillows and just coast through this show. Guest spot perfection this round is Jordan Manglona of local NJ comedy and music fame. #comicscartooonsandcraftbeer #comicscartooonsandcraftbeerthepodcast #comics #cartoons #craftbeer #craft #beer #podcast #pod #cccbthep #cccb #ashareduniverse #flcl #foolycooly #haruko #naota #canti #atomsk #medicalmechanica #mamimi #commanderamarao --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/comics-cartoons-craftbeer/support

In case you didn't think things could get more out of hand, this episode was talking about the third season of Fooly Cooly; FLCL Alternative. It's the same crazy anime you love...except...very different. Also, there's time travel...and bottle rockets...and fashions shows...and also more killer robots.
On this episode, we're talking about the sequel to that one anime that you couldn't finish because it was so weird. Self driving cars, robots, suspicious old men propositioning middle school girls in back alleys. That's right; we're talking about FLCL Progressive; the second season of the anime we love to struggle to interpret: Fooly Cooly.
On this episode we talk about teenage crushes, coming of age, dating girls who are way to old for you, aliens, and arson.Plus, we talk about what to do when a humanoid robot escapes from your forehead. We're talking about FLCL, aka Fooly Cooly, or that anime that was only 6 episodes long and still too weird for you.

Returning guest Dave Cabrera from Kawaiikochans joins Evan and David to discuss the two FLCL sequel series, Progressive and Alternative. We cover the differences between the two series, how they interpret the themes of the original, and whether or not it's worth it to watch past season 1 of FLCL. And of course, it wouldn't be a FLCL discussion without multiple pronunciations of the title, and we cover the whole spectrum, from F L C L to Furi Kuri to Fooly Cooly. Topics include: the puberty alien, Urusei Yatsura light novels, and Jared Leto Haruko. Send us feedback at podcast@anigamers.com! After producing one of the most influential anime series ever—Neon Genesis Evangelion—animation studio GAINAX went from adapting a comic about high school relationships to something even more unexpected: a coming-of-age story about robots that come out of a young boy's head. Thanks to its sheer weirdness, amazing animation, surprising emotionality, and atypical (but awesome) music choices, FLCL emerged as a cult hit in the early '00s—one that just received an unexpected sequel some 18 years later. This week on What A Cartoon, real life rock and/or roller Alexi Belchere of The Y-Axes joins Bob and Henry to break down what makes these six odd little episodes so special.
The Other Side finally returns, with a new format no less! Instead of letting themselves be constrained to a single topic per episode (with maybe some asides at the beginning), our hosts now talk about a smattering of different subjects! From Castlevania and it's spiritual successor Bloodstained, Star Wars, My Hero Academia, how much dick both Fooly Cooly and it's recent sequel suck all the way to how sexual psychology explains the anime fandom's endless fetishes and ravenous thirst, this episode has it all!
Sketch, Darrell and Caboose are joined by our special guest Karl Olson to discuss episode two of FLCL Progressive along with the AT&T and Time Warner merger. Music Credits: the pillows - Freebee Honey Ulfuls - Baka Survivor
Its time to talk about what is known to be a cult classic and even a timeless anime: FLCL aka Fooly Cooly/Furi Kuri...What does Fooly Cooly mean to anime, what does it mean to us, and actually what does the term itself FOOLY COOLY mean? For what’s your baggage we’re discussing our relationship with God/spirit after the religion episode on Master of None. We’re putting in our bags the super cute earrings of our friends over at Kalhina Creations and the newest game Far Cry 5 out this Fall. Gas up your vespa, tune your bass guitar, and prep the huge bandaids for your foreheads because we're getting into FLCL or Fooly Cooly! What does it mean? What gives? Why am I transitioning into a manga style while I'm writing this? FLCL is 100% bananas and 100% fun. It's an anime that requires you to sit back and attempt to let it all wash over you. Under normal cricumstances, the confluence of all these random piece would NOT coalesce into a good show. BUT FLCL manages to pull it off and does it with such style and grace. It makes for six extremely imaginative, yet random episodes. Will Dave get hit in the head with a bass guitar? Will Sean discover that he's part of the terminal core? (answer yes and probably) All of this and more on this week's episode of the Saturday Mourning Cartoons podcast! Joey The Anime Man and AkiDearest talk about their Best Girls. Joey says you're allowed more then one; you can have multiple 2D girls in your life. His Best Girls are often ones who are cute but powerful and confident. He likes anime girls who have many hidden sides. Aki has multiple Best Girls, one being Haruko from Fooly Cooly. A lot of people like Tsundere; characters who are cold or hostile at first and then show a warmer side over time. The duo aren't sure they agree. Who's your Best Girl?
Jason DeMarco need I say more? Came out to discuss Samurai Jack, Fooly Cooly, Toonami and much more. Check out the latest interview we conducted!
