Usually, he crafts mixes for immersive listening pleasure, but here he makes a rare turn to the dance floor, inspired by his closing set on the UFO2 stage at last year's Dekmantel Festival. That's exactly how we feel about our collaboration with Mostra Festival, which is entering its third year. We're thrilled to introduce some of the talent performing at the 2025 edition and to continue this creative exchange with our friends from Spain. Mostra 2025 happens April 17-20 at two brand-new locations. With two waves of artists already announced, it's clear that the high bar set by previous editions has once again been met. Today's guest mix comes from an artist we've been following closely: Mariachiara Troianiello, aka Katatonic Silentio. An Italian producer, DJ, and researcher, she moves between electronic music, performing arts, and sound studies, blending abstraction with club energy. Active as a DJ for over 15 years, her sets oscillate between an analog past and a fast-moving future—sometimes dreamy and introspective, other times razor-sharp and unpredictable. This January, she was part of ExtraMostra event at Berlin's OHM, where Mostra & Midgar joined forces. Alongside DjSport, Forest Drive West, Keplrr, and Severja, she delivered a mind-bending set in a packed-out club that couldn't fit everyone who wanted in. For her guest mix in our series, Katatonic Silentio explores dub techno in her own meticulous way—controlled, intentional, and always with a sense of movement. The first hour plays with restraint, each track given space to breathe, while subtle shifts build an unspoken tension. Just when you think you've settled into the groove, she nudges things into unexpected territory—tightening the pulse, throwing in off-kilter patterns, and steering toward a more kinetic, unpredictable second hour. For this episode of the Telekom Electronic Beats podcast we turn our focus towards two driving forces in the contemporary UK Drum & Bass scene, namely DJ Flight and Mantra. DJ Flight is widely recognised as a pioneering artist in the D&B scene and was the first woman to host a radio show focused on the genre with the The Next Chapter on BBC Radio 1Xtra. On top of this she's held down residencies at Metalheadz and Swerve, collaborated with Breakage and Redeyes and runs her own label Play:Musik. Mantra, alongside partner Double O, also found her way into the spotlight through her highly acclaimed Rupture events which over the past 12 years has welcomed the likes of D-Bridge and Doc Scott amongst many others, the club nights accompanying label has also released material from Forest Drive West, Coco Bryce and more and Mantra's own productions have garnered widespread support from many leading figures in the field. Throughout the podcast our host Lindi Delight discussed the pair's EQ50 initiative which endeavours to bring a more equal representation within the genre, while also offering mentorship for women and non-binary people. Artist Statement: I don't think it's a stretch for me to say that I really enjoy making mixes. I like challenging myself while exploring different sounds and rhythms and mixes give me a chance to play around without the added pressure of the dance floor. Context is key and in this regard, I always try to take into the consideration the environment the mixes are consumed by the listener. So I tend to make more headier mixes due to them probably being listened to at home or maybe work. I started this one out coming in a little “hot” before getting into the headier bits about a third of the way in. I did this because I wanted the momentum to carry though the headier section of the mix before bringing it slightly up again. I feel it helps the listener stay focused and engaged to the very end.
