In the Old Testament, prophets were equipped by God to illuminate His purpose for the people. One such leader, Zechariah, rallied the Jewish people after their Babylonian exile, using a “hope-ray vision” that was vibrant, revealing, and galvanizing. His powerful visions, bold promises, and vivid prophecies revealed God's heart to protect, restore, and lead His people. And that message still rings true today. Join Horizon at the Equipping Services for a verse-by-verse journey through ZECHARIAH as we see how Christ-followers, like the Israelites before us, can rediscover hope by looking deep into God's work.

The Gospel of John was written with a clear purpose: to awaken belief that leads to life. In this series, we'll walk through John's stories, signs, and teachings to discover what real faith looks like. Belief begins with a simple invitation—“Come and see”—and grows as we encounter Jesus in ordinary moments, wrestle with our doubts, and experience the transforming work of the Spirit. Along the way, we'll see Jesus break through barriers, meet us in seasons of grief, and call us to abide in Him. This is not just about a moment of faith, but a lifelong journey of trust, obedience, and hope in the risen Christ.
Dr. Jordon GilmoreKey Text: Gospel of Luke 24:13–35Pastor Jordon begins with the story of the two disciples walking on the road to Emmaus after Jesus' crucifixion. They were discouraged and confused. As they walked, Jesus joined them—but they didn't recognize Him. Only after He explained the Scriptures did they realize who He was. Their sorrow turned to excitement, and they ran to tell the other disciples. This story reflects a common experience for believers. We can walk through life discouraged or distracted and fail to recognize that God is already with us.Most Christians would say they know God is always with them, yet many don't always feel that way. Pastor Jordon referenced Book of Psalms 23:4, which reminds us that God is with us even in the valley. If we truly lived with that awareness, it would change our confidence, actions, and mindset. Imagine entering a difficult situation knowing Jesus was standing right behind you saying, “I've got you.” Through the Holy Spirit, that is the reality for believers.Recognizing God is something that develops as we grow in faith. Pastor Jordon described three stages:Recognizing who God is – understanding His character, power, and voice.Recognizing who He is to you personally – growing in a personal relationship with Christ.Recognizing His work in your life – seeing how He empowers and guides you.As our faith matures, our capacity grows—meaning God entrusts us with more responsibility and deeper experiences with Him.The disciples illustrate this growth. Early in Jesus' ministry they often asked, “Who is this?” In Gospel of Matthew 8, after Jesus calmed the storm, they wondered who He could be that even the wind obeyed Him. But later in Gospel of Matthew 14, after many experiences with Jesus, their response changed to worship: “Truly you are the Son of God.” Their ability to recognize Him grew through time spent walking with Him.Peter's story highlights this progression. When Jesus walked on water, Peter asked to come to Him. His bold step wasn't random—it was the result of many experiences with Jesus that had built his faith.Pastor Jordon pointed out three ways Peter's capacity grew:1. He listened to Jesus' teaching and asked questions. Peter actively sought understanding instead of staying confused.2. He experienced miracles and spiritual revelation. Moments where truth becomes clear deepen our ability to recognize God.3. He obeyed Jesus' instructions. When Jesus told the disciples to preach, heal, and minister, Peter acted. Later, after Jesus' resurrection, Jesus instructed Peter to “feed my sheep.” Peter eventually preached at Pentecost and thousands came to faith.A key shift in spiritual maturity is how we pray. Early in faith we often pray, “God, fix this situation.” As we grow, our prayers change to, “Lord, empower me to respond the right way.” We begin to recognize that God often works through us, not just for us.The challenge for believers is to spend time with God, seek understanding of His Word, remember moments of revelation, and act on His instructions. As we do, our capacity grows and we become better at recognizing God's presence and work in our lives.

Main Idea. The unseen God reveals His love in Christ and through His people. Driving Question. Why ought we to love one another? Three reasons why we should: 1.Because God is love (vv. 7–8) 2. Because God revealed His love by sending His Son (vv. 9–10) Two aspects of God's love in Christ: A. God manifested His love by sending His Son (9). B. God defined His love by giving His Son as a propitiation (10). Application. Recognize God's [type] of love. Receive God's love for you in Christ. 3. Because God's love now abides in us and is perfected through us (vv. 11–12) Takeaways. The Triune God (Father, Son, and Spirit) is the source of Christian love.
In this inspiring message, Nehemiah reveals how God places a burden on the heart to draw His people into His purpose. If you've felt a holy burden or a strong pull toward something greater, be encouraged—God may be calling you. Learn to recognize His voice and step boldly into what He has prepared for you.
In hard parenting seasons, recognizing God's presence can feel complicated. Not because God is absent — but because His faithfulness often shows up quietly. In Episode 3 of the Still Faithful series, we explore what it means to notice God's hand without forcing gratitude, positivity, or resolution. This episode is an invitation to spiritual awareness rooted in honesty, not pressure. If you've ever wondered whether you're "missing" God in a painful season — or felt unsure how to talk about His presence when nothing feels resolved — this episode offers a gentle place to pause and reflect. This conversation isn't about finding silver linings. It's about making room to notice what's been steady, subtle, and sustaining. In this episode, we talk about: Why God's faithfulness often feels quiet in hard years The difference between spiritual awareness and forced positivity How God's presence may show up through people, restraint, or truth rather than outcomes Why "I don't know yet" can still be a faithful answer How to remain open to God without demanding clarity Reflection questions: Take your time with these — there's no rush. Where do I recognize God's hand, even faintly, in this past season? Who did God place in my life to steady me when I felt unsure? What truth did God gently remind me of when everything felt uncertain? And remember: If the answer feels like "I don't know yet," that's okay. God meets us there too. A gentle reminder: God's faithfulness doesn't disappear in hard years. Sometimes it just shows up quietly. Faith doesn't require forced meaning or immediate clarity — only continued presence. About the series: Still Faithful Still Faithful is a podcast series for Christian parents navigating painful, unresolved parenting journeys — including estrangement, distance, and seasons where a child's choices challenge deeply held beliefs. Question – Is it really all that important to use the four keys to hearing God's voice? I mean, some people have five keys, and some have three keys, and some just say do it. This whole formula thing doesn't really work for me. I can hear God's voice without using any keys - I just listen and hear. The vision and journaling doesn't sit too well with me either...Read more here.Support the show

Sometimes the right choice is also the hardest one. In our daily prayer and devotional, we are reminded that as parents, spouses, friends, or leaders, God often calls us to take steps of faith that don’t align with the world’s expectations. Saying “no” to conformity and “yes” to God’s way can feel uncomfortable in the moment, but His Word reminds us that His will is always good, pleasing, and perfect. Conviction is often the Spirit’s way of guiding us into what is best. Romans 12:2 reminds us that transformation happens as we renew our minds in God’s truth. When we consistently lean into Scripture, pray for discernment, and trust His leading, He equips us with courage to walk forward—even when the path feels uncertain. Faith-filled steps may not always be easy, but they are always worth it. When we choose obedience, we not only honor God but also position ourselves and those we love to receive His best. Today's Bible Reading: "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." – Romans 12:2 Key Takeaways Conviction is an invitation to step away from conformity and into God’s will. Renewing our minds with Scripture helps us discern His direction clearly. Faith often requires uncomfortable but courageous steps of obedience. God’s plans are always for our good, even when they feel hard in the moment. Let’s Pray Together Lord God, You are the way, and Your way is perfect. Help me not to conform to the world but to be renewed daily in Your Word. Give me courage to follow through when I feel convicted, trusting that Your plan is good, pleasing, and perfect. Thank You for guiding me and walking with me as I take steps of faith. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Do you ever pray about something—big or small—and then wonder if God really heard you? Maybe you’ve asked Him to heal, provide, or even just help you find your keys, and later you’ve questioned if the answer was coincidence or divine response. Psalm 123 invites us to lift our eyes to God and wait expectantly for His mercy and direction. The psalmist models what it means to watch for the Lord’s hand in everyday life, trusting that He is attentive to both our deepest needs and the smallest details. Meg Bucher reminds us that recognizing God’s answers often requires training our hearts to notice His presence—in Scripture, in creation, through friends, and even in what the world might call coincidences. God is not silent. He is merciful, attentive, and always at work on behalf of His people. Main Takeaways God calls us to pray continually (1 Thessalonians 5:17), bringing both large and small requests before Him. Waiting on the Lord means watching attentively for His mercy and direction (Psalm 123:1-2). God’s answers may come in unexpected ways—through people, circumstances, Scripture, or His Spirit’s gentle promptings. Choosing to focus on His presence protects us from being overwhelmed by the contempt, arrogance, and chaos around us. Bible Verse References Psalm 123:1 – “I lift my eyes to you, O God, enthroned in heaven.” Psalm 123:2 – Watching for the Lord’s mercy as servants look to their master. Psalm 123:3-4 – A prayer for God’s mercy amidst contempt and arrogance. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 – “Pray continually.” Calls to Action (CTAs) Subscribe to Your Daily Prayer for daily encouragement and Scriptural grounding. Dr. Merritt emphasizes that money is not just a financial issue but a spiritual one, directly connected to our relationship with God. He teaches that the way we earn, spend, save, and give reveals the condition of our heart. Drawing from biblical principles, he challenges believers to: Recognize God as the Owner – Everything we have belongs to God. We are stewards, not owners.Tithe Faithfully – Giving the first 10% back to God is a sign of trust and obedience.Avoid Debt – Scripture warns about the dangers of debt. We should strive to live within our means.Budget Wisely – Planning and discipline reflect godly wisdom.Be Generous – Blessing others is part of God's plan for our resources. He reminds us that you don't master money by hoarding it, but by honoring God with it. True financial freedom starts when we put God first and allow Him to direct our financial decisions.
In this powerful message, Blueprints and Battle Plans: The Dangers of Expansion, Pastor Harley dives deep into how God designed you for more than just maintenance—He created you for expansion. Are you feeling spiritually stuck, emotionally drained, or uncertain about your calling? This message will show you how to recognize God's blueprint for your life, identify what's dulling your spiritual edge, and reignite your purpose through His supernatural power.
What if I told you that giving money to good causes won't necessarily change your heart? Many assume that if they invest their finances in the right places, their affections will follow. But what if the real issue isn't where our money goes, but what we treasure most? The Words of Jesus: Treasure and the HeartIn His Sermon on the Mount, Jesus offers one of the most profound insights into money and the human heart:"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." (Matthew 6:21)Many interpret this to mean that if we direct our money toward good causes, such as ministries or charities, our hearts will naturally follow. And often, generosity does strengthen our connection to what we support. However, if money itself remains our treasure, even generous giving can leave our hearts tied to wealth rather than to God.What if Jesus wasn't just telling us to redirect our money but inviting us to reexamine what we treasure most? The real challenge isn't simply choosing better causes; it's choosing a better treasure. If our hearts cling to money, even when giving it away, we remain captive. But if we treasure God above all, our money will naturally reflect that devotion. The Widow's Offering: A Heart Aligned with GodConsider Jesus' observation of the widow's offering in Mark 12:"And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny." (Mark 12:41–42)The wealthy gave much more than the widow, but their giving didn't free them from money's grip. Their treasure was still rooted in their wealth.Jesus exposes a similar heart issue when He rebukes the Pharisees in Matthew 23:"Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness." (Matthew 23:23)The Pharisees gave meticulously, yet their hearts were enslaved to pride and status. Their giving wasn't born from a love for God, but from a desire to maintain religious appearances.True Freedom in Treasuring GodIn contrast, the widow's tiny offering flowed from deep trust and surrender to God. She gave not to be seen, but because her greatest treasure was the One standing before her. Jesus praised her, not for the amount she gave, but because her heart fully belonged to Him.If giving alone could free us from money's hold, the Pharisees would have been the most spiritually free people of their day. But they weren't. True freedom comes not from giving more but from treasuring God most.As Pastor John Piper puts it:“God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in Him.”How Do We Shift Our Hearts? So, if the issue isn't where we put our money but what we treasure, how do we shift our hearts?Recognize God as Your Greatest Treasure - Until God is our highest joy, we will always cling to lesser things.Seek First His Kingdom - When God's Kingdom is our priority, everything else—including money—falls into place.View Money As A Tool, Not A Treasure - If we treasure God, we will steward it wisely without being controlled by it.Store Up Treasures in Heaven - This means prioritizing what truly lasts—growing in Christ, loving others, and living generously. When our treasure is in God, our relationship with money changes. We give not to force our hearts to care, but because our desires are already aligned with what God cares about. We are freed from financial anxiety because our security is in God, not wealth (Matthew 6:25–34).If money is our treasure, our hearts will forever remain enslaved to it, no matter how generously we give. But if we treasure God, our hearts will be free, and our relationship with money will reflect that reality. The real question isn't, “Where is my money going?” but “What do I treasure most?” Because where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.Partner with FaithFiThat's the heart behind everything we do at FaithFi. In the first century B.C., the Roman historian Sallust wrote, “Prosperity tries the souls, even of the wise.” That statement still holds true today. While most people would gladly accept financial prosperity despite its pitfalls, few are as eager to embrace financial hardship. Yet both seasons—wealth and want—reveal what we believe, what we value, and ultimately, where we place our trust. When things are going well financially, it's easy to take the credit. But self-reliance and comfort can open the door to pride and greed. As Jesus warned in Luke 12, “Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”Prosperity can dull our spiritual sensitivity. We may forget our dependence on God or assume His blessings are tied to our performance. But success isn't always a sign of God's approval—sometimes it's a test. The Temptations of AdversityFinancial hardship brings its own spiritual challenges. Temptations like bitterness, envy, fear, and self-pity can creep in. We might compare ourselves to others or question God's goodness. But just as prosperity tests our humility, adversity tests our faith.James 1:2-3 tells us, “Consider it pure joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness.”So how do we remain grounded—whether in feast or famine? The answer is wisdom.Proverbs 1:7 lays the foundation: “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.”This kind of fear isn't cowering in dread—it's reverent awe. It's the recognition that God is holy, sovereign, and good. And it's trusting that His commands are given for our good, not our restriction.Just as a loving parent sets boundaries to protect their child, God gives us instructions to guide us toward freedom, peace, and flourishing. What Wisdom BringsGodly wisdom isn't reserved for the wealthy or educated. It's available to anyone who humbly seeks it. Scripture outlines several benefits of living wisely:Discernment: “Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path” (Proverbs 2:9).Guidance: “In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:6).Blessing: “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding” (Proverbs 3:13).Reputation: “The wise inherit honor, but fools get only shame” (Proverbs 3:35).Protection: “Through the fear of the Lord a man avoids evil” (Proverbs 16:6).Your income or assets do not bind these benefits—they're available to anyone who listens to God and walks in His ways.In contrast, the Bible describes a fool not as someone lacking intelligence but as someone who rejects God's wisdom. Proverbs 12:15 says, “The way of fools seems right to them, but the wise listen to advice.”When we define right and wrong on our own terms—especially in our finances—it leads to confusion and brokenness. God's warnings are invitations to return to the life He designed us for, one marked by peace, generosity, and joy.Applying Wisdom to Your FinancesHere are three practical ways to walk in financial wisdom:1. Recognize God's OwnershipEverything we have belongs to God. We are stewards, not owners. Psalm 24:1 says, “The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it.” When we view money as a trust rather than a possession, it changes how we spend, save, and give.Ask the Lord to help you desire faithfulness over financial status. He's not looking at your net worth—He's looking at your heart.2. Live by Biblical PrinciplesScripture is full of practical wisdom for managing money: avoid debt, practice generosity, work diligently, and act with integrity. Philippians 2:3 reminds us, “In humility, consider others more significant than yourselves.”3. Pursue ContentmentPaul writes in 1 Timothy 6:6, “Godliness with contentment is great gain.” True wealth isn't about how much you have but about how much you trust God. Contentment sets you free from the endless cycle of comparison and consumerism. What Do Your Habits Reveal? At the end of the day, your financial decisions reflect your spiritual direction. Are your habits shaped by God's wisdom or the world's values?Jesus said, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matthew 6:21). If you're following Christ, your money will follow Him, too—toward generosity, simplicity, and trust.Whether you're walking through a season of prosperity or adversity, God is with you. And if you seek His wisdom, you'll be equipped to handle both with grace. The world measures success by accumulation, but God measures it by faithfulness. So whatever financial season you're in right now, stay focused on what truly matters: following Jesus. In Him, there is peace, purpose, and joy—no matter your bottom line.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I want to move from our 26-acre farm, but house prices are high. "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?" - Matthew 16:26In that verse, Jesus is speaking to His disciples, teaching them about the cost of discipleship and the value of the soul in contrast to worldly gains. The question remains: is there a spiritual cost to achieving financial success? John Rinehart joins us today to talk about it.John Rinehart is the co-founder of Gospel Patrons, an international organization dedicated to inspiring a generation of business professionals to fulfill their God-given callings. He is also the author of Gospel Patrons: People Whose Generosity Changed The World and 31 Gospel Patrons. The Hidden Danger of WealthFinancial success is often seen as a blessing, and rightly so—Scripture tells us that God gives both riches and poverty according to His sovereign will. We see many wealthy individuals throughout the Bible who were faithful followers of God. However, Jesus frequently warned His disciples about the dangers of wealth. In today's world, success is often equated with financial prosperity, but Jesus made it clear: “You cannot serve both God and money” (Matthew 6:24). The culture around us idolizes wealth, comfort, and possessions, making it easy to fall into a cycle where financial gain becomes the ultimate goal. This cycle can lead us away from God rather than toward Him if we are not careful. The Toxic Cycle of SuccessMany people approach work as a means to an end—a way to earn money so they can rest, enjoy life, and feel secure. This mindset, however, is not where the Bible starts. Instead, when we strive for success without keeping God at the center, we often fall into a dangerous pattern:We Work Hard and Prosper—Hard work leads to financial gain, which is a good thing. We Enjoy Comfort and Security—As success grows, we begin to rely on wealth rather than on God.We Forget God—The more prosperous we become, the easier it is to take credit for our success. We Fall into Sin—As self-reliance replaces trust in God, spiritual priorities take a back seat. This cycle is clearly seen in the Parable of the Rich Fool (Luke 12:16-21). Jesus describes a man who builds bigger barns to store his wealth, thinking he has secured his future. But God calls him a fool because he was not “rich toward God.”Forgetting the Source of Our WealthThe warning from Deuteronomy 8:18 is as relevant today as it was for Israel:“You may say to yourself, ‘My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.' But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth.”After 40 years in the wilderness, Israel stood at the edge of the Promised Land, facing a new challenge—not scarcity, but abundance. Moses warned them that prosperity could be more spiritually dangerous than hardship if they forgot the God who provided for them.Likewise, in our financial success, we must remember that wealth is not ours—it belongs to God. If we forget this, we risk placing our trust in material security rather than in Him.The Virtuous Cycle of SuccessSo, how can we succeed financially without failing spiritually? We must shift from a toxic cycle to a virtuous cycle—one that aligns with God's design. Instead of working for wealth and rest, we should begin with resting in God.1. Start with RestGod commands rest through the Sabbath, showing that we are not slaves to work. Taking time to worship, study Scripture, and be in community with other believers reorients our hearts toward God.2. Work as WorshipWhen we see work as a way to glorify God rather than just a means to make money, our labor takes on new meaning. We use our talents and skills to serve others and fulfill the good works God has prepared for us.3. Recognize God's ProvisionSuccess is not merely the result of our hard work—it is a blessing from God. Deuteronomy 8:18 reminds us that even the ability to create wealth comes from Him.4. Practice Radical GenerosityUnderstanding that our wealth belongs to God transforms how we use it. Instead of hoarding, we become generous stewards, using resources to care for the poor, support the gospel, and advance God's kingdom.5. Rejoice in Eternal ImpactWhen our work and wealth contribute to God's mission, our joy increases. We see our daily efforts as part of something bigger—something eternal.A Call to Purposeful LivingIf you are successful in your career, know that your work matters to God. You are not second-class in His kingdom. When you connect your success to His mission and live generously, you experience the greatest joy.Let's not fall into the trap of forgetting God in our prosperity. Instead, let's embrace a virtuous cycle of success—one where work is worship, wealth is stewardship, and generosity fuels the kingdom of God.For more insights, visit Gospel Patrons and explore the stories of those who have used their success for God's glory. On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:Should we rent out our paid-off home when we retire and move closer to family, or should we sell it instead?Resources Mentioned:Faithful Steward: FaithFi's New Quarterly MagazineGospel PatronsGospel Patrons: People Whose Generosity Changed The World by John RinehartWisdom Over Wealth: 12 Lessons from Ecclesiastes on Money (Pre-Order)Look At The Sparrows: A 21-Day Devotional on Financial Fear and AnxietyRich Toward God: A Study on the Parable of the Rich FoolFind a Certified Kingdom Advisor (CKA) or Certified Christian Financial Counselor (CertCFC)FaithFi App Remember, you can call in to ask your questions most days at (800) 525-7000.
