Grieving the living. It's a thing. A very real thing. Because of abuse, there are times we must set boundaries with friends and family, and go low or no contact. Many mamas are experiencing parental alienation from their children. Many women are cast out by their families, churches and social communities. I pray this brings clarity to those who are hurting and gives us all greater understanding of how to walk this road of grief together. As we continue with my favorite series - the ENTREPRENEUR series, my next guest is Terri Mendez, someone I had known for many many years. We were good friends back in junior high school and then into high school, and as the years passed, life happened, we went our separate ways, and eventually, we lost touch with one another. But through the power of social media, we were able to reconnect and through another mutual friend, I found out about her business. Terri and her family moved from California to Texas, and in 2017 she started her business. I love Terri's story because it demonstrates her resilience, her tenacity, her drive, and determination. I think we can all relate in some ways to the ebbs and flows of change, relocation, starting over in a new environment, and finding, as Terri says, 'your own HAPPIE.' You could you feel the happiness exuding from Terri. Can you relate to her story in some way? Are you starting over in a brand new location? New job? New school? Here are my takeaways from talking with TERRI MENDEZ: 1) Utilize your support system. I touched on this subject in another podcast episode with Jasmine Wallace of Ku'uipo Creations who did the same thing. She had her family -- her village -- to lean on. Just like Terri, she had her family too -- her village to support her during her move and getting acclimated to the new area. 2) NEVER STOP GROWING: Terri mentions this during our conversation and I really love this mantra. Terri expanded her passion, her love for art and crafting, and turned it into a thriving business. She embedded herself in her community, linked arms with like-minded individuals, and found what truly makes her happy. I am so thankful that Terri shared her story. Because, if you're like me, sometimes, you feel "alone" in your struggles -- especially as an entrepreneur or startup business owner, but knowing others out there encountered the same scenarios you went through or are going through, is very therapeutic. I strongly believe we can all learn from and be empowered by one another, and then turn around, pay it forward and be the same positive influence on someone else. Love it! ABOUT TERRI MENDEZ and FIND YOUR HAPPIE BY TRES BEAU: Terri Mendez is the business owner of Find Your Happie by TREs Beau, an online home decor store & more (and soon to be storefront). She also teaches art and cooking classes using her specialized product lines. . Before starting her retail business, Terri spent over 25 years as an Insurance Broker for a multinational financial services company. She also had her own floral business where she specialized in weddings. After her spouse’s recent job relocation from CA to TX, Find Your Happie by TREs Beau was born; a family founded business created by Terese, Regine, & Estelle, who share the love of art. aiming to create something that makes the world a better place to live in. . Find Your Happie by TREs Beau designs bring happiness into your environment by using inspiring quotes, eye-catching designs, and even "functional" theme creations. They believe in the concept of reducing, reusing, recycling, and upcycling to conserve the earth's resources. They also believe in "Pay it Forward" where they will donate 5% proceeds of your purchase to various charities on a permanent basis. Fun Facts: ● Find Your Happie by TREs Beau was created in February 2017 by stumbling along a great sale on "cabinet doors" from a lovely nearby Texas carpenter who needed to clear out his work area. Once they started to share their ideas with how to "upcycle" the doors, their business was born! ● Their website background is such a breathtaking view and such a hidden gem located in Frisco, Texas which brings so much happiness; thus the name "Find Your Happie". ● The phrase: "TREs Beau" translates to "very beautiful" in French, which describes this lovely background. However, the letters in TREs are symbolic of their first name initials,... --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
