What if a little bit of delusion might be exactly what you need to boost your confidence? As the kids these days say: “being delulu is the solulu!” Mary shares 4 mindset shifts– that some might consider “delusional”– but will do wonders for your confidence. You will learn how to... - lie to yourself in an empowering way lol - stop comparing yourself to others with one very simple mindset shift - break free from external validation and derive your confidence from within - balance self-trust with consistent, confident action-taking - release perfectionism and believe in yourself Especially for women, embracing a positive mindset is often the first rebellion against a world that profits off of our self-doubt. This isn't about toxic positivity or lying to yourself in a way that's avoidant. It's about consciously choosing beliefs rooted in self-love that remind you that you are enough. Reclaim your self-esteem by choosing self-talk that inspires action and fuels your dreams, regardless of personal insecurities or cultural expectations. Remember: Confidence doesn't always have to be logical. It just has to set you free. If you enjoyed this episode, share it with your friends to spread the gift of self-love! Eating disorders can show up in a multitude of ways in athletes. From how a body “should” look if we play a certain sport, to how we “should” eat for performance, to the inevitable comparison trap of teammates and competitors.I'm joined by Lex, a client I've worked with for many years now. She is incredibly special to me. We began working together when she was in high school struggling with an eating disorder and unable to participate in the sport she loves, and she recently graduated college.Lex also opens up about her family dynamics, the treatment that didn't work, and how she learned to advocate for the care she actually needed. Her story is a reminder that recovery is not a linear path — it's a winding one, full of self-discovery, hard conversations, and quiet moments of courage. In this episode, you'll hear:*Why Lex developed an eating disorder in high school*The unique vulnerability of runners to disordered eating*What helped her actually move the needle in recovery*How romantic partners and friendships can either support or sabotage healing*Why comments from coaches about food and weight are so damaging*Overcoming food fears (hello, carbs!)*What it really means to heal your body image*What it took to return to running with a new mindset*Her advice for other athletes who are struggling — and the next frontier of her recovery journeySupport the show: Enjoying this podcast? In today's episode of the Recover to Flourish podcast, we're diving into one of the toughest parts of eating disorder recovery: letting go of control. If you've been struggling with the need to control food, exercise, or your body, you're not alone. I know from personal experience how hard it is to start loosening the grip, but I'm here to talk about why it's so essential for healing and how to take those first steps toward true freedom. In this episode, I'll share some of my own journey, offer practical tips, and remind you that it's okay to take things slow. Here's what we'll cover:Why control becomes so deeply tied to eating disorders and recovery. How to recognise when control is holding you back from healing.Practical tips for loosening the grip on control without feeling overwhelmed. How to build trust with your body and embrace uncertainty in recovery. The importance of self-compassion when letting go of old habits.Letting go of control is a process, not a one-time fix, but every step forward counts.

I am joined by my very own dietician Gabby Barreto to talk about my journey with intentional weight loss after eating disorder recovery. For so long, I felt trapped by both diet culture and anti-diet culture. I thought I had two choices: extreme restriction and an ED or staying in a body I didn't feel good in because I've had an ED in the past. Finding a dietician to help me lose weight in a non-disordered way (it's possible) has changed my entire life. I no longer believe it's anti-feminist, bad, or always unhealthy to pursue weight loss. Every person is unique. People with eating disorders histories are not a monolith. If you're about nuance, this is for you. This podcast is made possible by NOCD. Routines play an important role in the lives of autistic individuals, offering structure and safety – but they can also lead to challenges, especially when paired with eating disorders. In this episode, Livia and Mike delve into how routines shape autistic experiences, how they intersect with food and movement behaviors, and why flexibility is crucial for recovery. Together, they explore how to navigate change in a way that feels safe and sustainable for the neurodivergent mind. Key Topics Discussed: The role of routines in autism and eating disorders The importance of replacing judgment with curiosity Why routine disruption can be traumatic for autistics How to manage uncontrolled changes The impact of job loss on autistic individuals Common misconceptions about autistic flexibility Why autistics tend to over-explain food and movement behaviors The pressure to be constantly productive How to overcome the frustration of not knowing how much to eat The importance of taking responsibility to break free from quasi recovery

In this episode, Emily and Han discuss the key sleep disrupters in recovery. These include: Hunger - which does not discriminate between night and daytime Exercise addiction / productivity drive - letting yourself sleep enough is often as tightly bound up with self-punishing defaults as letting yourself eating enough Heightened anxiety and stress - from the recovery process Physical effects of being out of energy balance Digestive problems Ineffective temperature regulation Frequent urination Hormonal imbalance Meta-stress (stress about the health effects of poor sleep)
Ekkk Happy Christmas Eve!!! I hope your week is starting off great as we all patiently wait for the big guy to come down the chimney! I wanted to drop a brand new pod episode into your inbox for you to listen to while you finish your gift wrapping and last minute "to-do's". In Episode 188, I share THE BEST gift you can give yourself and others this Christmas and how you can find magic in recovery this holiday. ~ So yesterday I was at Santa with my boys and it hit me. While everyone around us was rushing, stressed about perfect pictures and checking their phones, my kids were just Present. It was like time stood still to them. They were living in the pure magic of the moment as they waited in line to see Santa. And it got me thinking about how often we miss these precious moments. My kids are 6 and 10 and I look at it as a very pivotal year because I am hanging on to my 10 year old with the expectation that he's always going to want to stand in that line. And the reality sis, is I know that we're on the last leg of moments like that one. How about your reality? Well when you're struggling with an eating disorder, it literally sucks all the good moments from your life. So many moments are missed because you are caught up in those eating disorder thoughts. So many moments I missed. And so I wanted to bring you this episode today not to be a negative Scrooge. But actually quite the opposite. It's time to take a stand against spending ONE more Christmas at war with your body! No more giving your best gift away for a false sense of control. And that gift, friend? TIME. ~ The boys and I went to a family gathering last night after Santa, one that in past years would have sent me into a tailspin. I mean, yes, it was the kind with all the festive dishes, a charcuterie board, espresso martinis, all the tasty festive treats, enter the cookies, the brownies, the shortbread...there was banana pudding. It was amazing! And while my recovered-self enjoyed every bite of nourishment. I couldn't help but realize just how fast time flies. I questioned myself, "do I live here in all the right now moments? Or am I living back there and how it used to be or fast forward to what hasn't even arrived yet?" I don't know about you, but I want to remember all these moments that I have left, all of them. It's so important to really get real and present with ourselves. And that's what I wanted to do was to question your current state. If you are feeling drained, overwhelmed, and maybe the holidays are just not your thing because of past traumas, or because of the eating disorder or because of lost loved ones. I totally get that, but there is still something so magical about this time of year. Here's the thing. The magic of recovery, just like the magic of Christmas, it happens in the NOW. It happens in the present. And it happens when we choose to be here, even when it's super, super uncomfortable. So my hope for your this holiday is that you LIVE in the PRESENT and make a commitment to your future self to get the help and support you need to combat your eating disorder. Hey sis, oh my gosh, have we made it? Have we arrived? Is everyone in one piece? I feel like the days and weeks up to the holiday can be treacherous. Am I the only one? I just feel like the 'to-do' list never ends and everyone's running around like crazy pants. I'm just over here trying to be Mama Elf without forgetting to move the Elf on the Shelf after putting the boys to bed. LOL Anyways, let's dive in to today's show. I'm talking all about that huge mistake that you're most likely making right now as you battle this unhealthy relationship with food and your body. And I'm going to give you two strategies that you can implement today that are going to help you overcome and actually get to freedom. If you're always looking for 'the thing' that is going to set you free and you just don't understand why this feels so hard for you...Then today's podcast episode is FOR YOU SIS! One of the biggest mistakes that I see in coaching countless of women in recovery, (including my own self and my own recovery journey) is you get to a point of functioning, but you're struggling so much and you're like, "is this it?" "Is this as good as it gets?" ALERT ->This ISN'T IT for you sweet friend! And today I wanted to shout into your ear that your dream is achievable. There is more for you. You haven't arrived yet, and that's okay. I want you to know you're okay, you're here, I see you, you're right where you need to be. And if you're always looking for the next thing, then you're most likely doing it wrong from the start. (And I say that with so much love because I did it wrong for so very long.) The struggle is certainly real, but in order to build a battle plan for your recovery, you need to let go of it needing to look a certain way. I'm going to say that one again for you. To build a battle plan for the blueprint of your recovery, you need to let go of it looking a certain way. ~ Tune in to this one girl & share it with a friend! I hope it inspires you & encourages you to step out with courage, as you challenge yourself this holiday season to stop settling & start thriving! Extreme hunger, like many aspects of eating disorder recovery, can be incredibly frightening. As an autistic person that always needs to know the "why" behind concepts so I can take informed action, understanding the science behind extreme hunger was an important part of my ED recovery journey. This episode delves into the role extreme hunger plays in achieving a state of full recovery, including: What is extreme hunger and when does it happen in eating disorder recovery? Biological reasons people with a history of restriction, such as anorexia or bulimia, experience extreme hunger Different types of extreme hunger in ED recovery, including mental hunger, eating-induced hunger, and exercise hunger
Do you feel like you've lost the ability to restrict in eating disorder recovery? Are you developing binge eating disorder after anorexia because you can't stop eating? In this episode, Livia shares her lived experience of no longer being able to restrict in anorexia recovery and how she overcame the frustrations around this.
Is there such a thing as too much food in eating disorder recovery? Most people would say no. However, for the autistic brain, the concept of "eating without limits" can be so abstract and overwhelming, that setting constraints around food can be a wonderful tool. In this episode, autism and eating disorder recovery coach Livia Sara explains how to use the neurodivergent need for limits to your advantage on your food freedom journey.

(Jen Wagner, 00:36:35) "If you're listening to this podcast and something clicks or resonates with you, right, and you go, I need a starting point, what I what I tell people is, like, just get curious about the idea in general of what things could feel like or look like if you were taking just a little bit less." Hey Girl, Do you live with guilt or shame from unhealthy patterns or disordered behaviors with food? Do you try to control your food intake only to end up frustrated and like you have failed at life? I hate what this cycle does to so many of us women. In Episode 163.5 of the HBS podcast, I get vulnerable AGAIN and share the good stuff! I talk about my personal faith & how I struggled to believe God even cared about me at my worst with anorexia. But the most epic message of today's show is the topic of total surrender. Sis, in order to find complete freedom from disordered eating, you must trust in something other than yourself to get through it. In order to find complete freedom, you must let go and surrender your plans, for plans that are far greater than what you can even imagine for your life. You see, the first step to recovery....begins with surrender. Surrender your power and false sense of control, so that HE can create something NEW in you. True change comes from true identity. You were created for MORE. Trust the one who created you. You weren't born to be the best at being sick. I hope this episode hits you differently today friend! Would you mind sharing it with a friend in your life that you feel it may bless? I would be so very honored. "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~Jeremiah 29:11 with recovery prayers and all the hugs, lindsey Find All the Things -> www.lindseynichol.com ______ Coach with Me ->Client Application ______ Email me directly -> info@lindseynichol.com ______ Join the free FB community -> www.facebook.com/groups/herbestselfsociety/ ______ Need a helping hand guiding you girl!?
