In this episode, Richard sits down with speaker, author, and former physical therapist, Amy Lafko. Diving into the diverse topic that is "What is a people-first approach?" Find Amy's book "People First" hereAs a Physical Therapist, Amy spent years in school learning best practices for patient care and how to put the patient first. Like so many technically skilled clinicians, she advanced to a leadership role. Spending 20+ years in operational leadership, she had an epiphany: Putting the customer first isn't the path to success or fulfillment. Rather, the most successful organizations and practices put their people first – and exceptional customer care, profitability, and effectiveness naturally followed. What is a People First approach?A People First approach is a mindset/philosophy of leadership and not a series of tactics. What are the foundational building blocks/attributes of a People First Approach?Until recently there has been a focus on Patient First. How is this different? How have changes within the structure of healthcare employment and delivery over the last 10 years forced managers/owners to rethink how we lead people? Are generational differences impacting the way we need to lead and manage? How did Covid impact the way we should lead/manage?What practical steps can private practice owners take immediately to start along the path of a People First approach? What are the consequences of not changing to an employee-first mindset? How have we seen this?To learn more about us, visit our website at https://www.allianceptp.com/

Dan Burge, to most people, is a leader and a visionary. He uses his instinct and gut reaction, a skill that I think lacks in my generation, to determine his next move. We spend too much time overthinking and getting in the way of ourselves. This stops us from experiencing more of what the world has to offer. As Dan helps guide us through his career and the changes he made to himself and the culture to make to get the most out of those around him using his experience. He started in the aftermarket scene and swiftly made his way to companies like Prodrive and, following that, a big jump to Lotus in the world of OEM. Now he follows his gut and passion to the EVT group, where he gets to innovate and change how we think about electric vehicles. I cant wait to see what he comes out with, and I can't wait for you to hear this episode. When looking at the stories of some of the most successful entrepreneurs in modern history, you'll often find a quote about the part that intuition played in their success. For example, in a NY Times article, Steve Jobs is quoted saying, “Intuition is a very powerful thing; more powerful than intellect in my opinion”. However, that special intuition that we believe makes successful people successful, isn't as mysterious or elusive as we may believe it to be, nor is it as powerful and random as we may assume it to be. When it comes to accountants and intuition, it can be incredibly beneficial to use intuition in business, however, while many accountants and business owners may have attributed at least some of their success to intuition, this cannot exist in isolation. This week on The CPA MOMS Podcast we discuss what intuition really is and how to know when to act on your intuition You can read the full show notes HERE As mentioned on the podcast, you can book a FREE 20 minute call to deal with your time management issues HERE

A Conversation on the Death Penalty. Today, Mike and Tim are joined by new friend Renee Monzon. Renee is a public defender in Ohio who represents people on death row and is a part of our Voxology community. Along with her work in the law, Renee has a heart to educate, inform and tell people's stories. What is the definition or heart of justice? How has this system fallen apart? Who is the most affected? Where does the Church lay historically within this conversation? Why? As a people who believe in the power of redemption, why are we so much more in favor of the Death Penalty? What can we do? What would Jesus have us do? It's a tough and controversial topic, but one we need to be having. Bryan Stevenson's book, Just Mercy, can be found HERE Tim's record of imprisoned men's stories, Letters From Lancaster Prison, can be heard HERE As always, we encourage and would love discussion as we pursue. Can We Have Unity Amidst Opposing Ideologies? Dr. Gombis drops in to revisit a conversation on unity in the Church. We're one year removed from the events of January 6th at the Capital. As people within the Church continue to polarize, can we find unity with folks who have ideologies we radically disagree with? Are there two sides? What are we to do with doctrine or beliefs that have been made hollow? Where is the point to break communion? How are we to conduct ourselves within a polarized community? Are we to call out racism, misogyny and nationalism that uses the Lord's name in vain? It's a difficult topic. First, Mike and Tim respond to a few more emails of listeners experiences with Christmas being demonized. The Michael Heiser podcast episode on Christmas that was referenced is perhaps HERE ‘Shoutin' in the Fire,' by Danté Stewart, the book referenced by Gombis, can be found HERE As always, we encourage and would love discussion as we pursue. Understanding the Bible: Part Twelve. Interpretation. This is the end… for now. Today, we wrap up the series on understanding the Bible with a conversation about interpretation. So much of every aspect we've already covered ties into today's conversation: Inerrancy. Genre. Context. Accommodation. How do we build the foundation necessary to begin a fresh pursuit of understanding? What role do we play own this divine conversation? Where do we begin with re-discipling? As always, the complexity of the text is on display and it's asking us to wrestle with it, to marinate in its mystery and wonder at God's intentional back and forth with all of us. It's beautiful in all of its chaos and intricacy. You can find Richard Hays book HERE As always, we encourage and would love discussion as we pursue.
