Dijo entonces al viñador: “Ya ves, tres años llevo viniendo a buscar fruto en esta higuera, y no lo encuentro. Córtala. ¿Para qué va a perjudicar el terreno?”. Pero el viñador respondió: “Señor, déjala todavía este año y mientras tanto yo cavaré alrededor y le echaré estiércol, a ver si da fruto en adelante. La Liturgia de este Domingo III  de Cuaresma intensifica el espíritu Cuaresmal centrándose en el tema de la conversión continua, una de las exigencias de nuestro bautismo, la conversión del corazón, desde que nacemos hasta el último momento de nuestra existencia y antes de que sea demasiado tarde. Y en la escena de la vocación de Moisés la página más bella de la Biblia porque en ella nos revela la verdadera identidad de Dios nuestro Senor. Un Dios compasivo y misericordioso que le dice a Moises: "He visto la humillación de mi pueblo en Egipto y he escuchado sus gritos. Yo conozco sus sufrimientos y por eso he bajado para liberarlo del poder de los Egipcios. Y al preguntarle  Moises: ¿Quien eres? a la voz que le llama desde la Zarza Ardiente: Dios le dice: "Yo soy el que soy" Él es Yahve. El Eterno. El que es por sí mismo. El Absoluto, el Salvador Y al mismo tiempo presente y activo en nuestra vida diaria. Y el Evangelio nos invita a continuar en este proceso de preparación y conversión aprovechando otra nueva oportunidad que el Viñador Divino nos ofrece hoy como a la Higuera, a ver si finalmente logramos ofrecer los frutos de vida cristiana que Dios espera de nosotros. The Last Cuentista is a winner of the Newberry Medal award, and is the second book by author Donna Barba Higuera. It is a fast paced, middle-grade dystopian sci-fi, and yet it has so much depth and maturity in its themes.  We were able to discuss many topics at length including immigration, the importance of storytelling, genetic enhancement, collective working, and what connects us. Azul Uribe is a bi-cultural woman who was partially raised in the U.S.—Texas and Mexico. She is currently working on a book of essays, and lives in Merida Mexico, with her two cats, where she owns no high heels and never wears pants. She has been featured in The Daily Dot, and the Anthologies Los Otros Dreamers (2014) and Somewhere We Are Human (Harper Collins 2019). We talk about Azul's personal story, as it deals with deportation, and the U.S. immigration policies and other systemic failures that make the path to citizenship unattainable.
