We talk beefs (beeves?), dig into Internet drama, and have fun. The NBA is now a 365-day league and it's never been more present in pop culture. From Kevin Durant's burner accounts to LeBron taking his talents anywhere to trusting the Process, the NBA is becoming a pop culture requirement. At the same time, sports can have gatekeepers that make it insular and frustrating for people who aren't die hard fans. We're here to prove that basketball is entertaining to follow for all fans, whether you're actively watching the games or not. Featured in The New York Times!

Jeff Cerulli! Comedian! Documentarian! Friend! Guy with a new special out now called "Live at the Bomb Shelter"! ABOUT THE SPECIAL: NYC-based comedian, writer and filmmaker Jeff Cerulli and Comedy Dynamics are pleased to announce the release of Live at the Bomb Shelter, Cerulli's debut full-length comedy special, out now everywhere comedy can be streamed. Cerulli takes the stage at NYC's Bomb Shelter for an hour of comedy that takes viewers on a hilarious journey through growing up on Long Island, the true crime craze, the joys of being a dog-dad, getting engaged after 10 years, and the struggles of helping an aging parent. Notably Cerulli gets into the bad NYC apartments I've lived in: “I had to move about a year ago because my last apartment was filled with lead…which is not what you want.” Cerulli always loved stand up comedy, and knew he would try it one day. He started running comedy shows in his 20s - a great way to land consistent stage time. “I have run so many random shows at different places in the city that most of the bars are now either a 7/11 or a Citibank”. The Bomb Shelter is a weekly comedy show run by Cerulli since 2016 in the basement of the Gaf West - one of the best independent comedy rooms in New York, super-intimate with low ceilings, a hot pipe and Christmas lights all year round. Says Cerulli: “There isn't anything else like it, going up and telling jokes without a net. It is the only artform you must practice in front of strangers to get better.” Cerulli is a filmmaker as well as a comedian, with multiple documentaries, web-series, and short films to his credit. Thus, he opted to make his own special a DIY affair, hiring amazing DP friend Ari Rothschild to shoot and run sound, and Paul Levin from International Digital Centre to mix. Cerulli edited Live at the Bomb Shelter himself, deftly switching hats: “I have been doing comedy for a long time, I have enough material, just do it.“ Cerulli took it to Comedy Dynamics because he loves what they are doing in the comedy space and was thrilled that they came aboard to distribute. ABOUT JEFF CERULLI: Jeff Cerulli is a NYC-based stand-up comedian and filmmaker who has performed all around the world. Jeff has been featured on Sirius radios Jim & Sam show, Amazon Game Breakers, The Laugh Button & Decider. His web series The Feed earned critical praise - The Observer said “it hits too close to home” and Paste called it “a sly satire on social media.” Jeff's feature-length documentary debut Hungry premiered at the IFC Center as part of the DOC NYC film festival. His latest documentary Tasteless, about the ever-changing comedy landscape, is currently available on Apple TV. Jeff currently hosts the podcast Your Team's Stuff where he invites a guest to judge memorabilia he finds off eBay for their favorite sports team ABOUT THIS PODCAST: Listen and enjoy! Jeff Cerulli recently got verified on Twitter and this has been haunting me for months so finally I have him on the show this week to learn his secrets. This week Matt Ritter and Jeff Cerulli discuss the week that saw a nice win in Boston and a home win against Atlanta sandwiched around a brutal loss to Philly. More notable was the return of Shumpert and Felton. Which means basically for the first time all year, the Knicks are at full strength. We discuss whether the team as constructed has what it takes to win or if we need to make a move. Some positive signs from Amare and Melo has one of his solid Melo games where he wills the team to victory against Atlanta. An easy stretch ahead should give us some room to breath with the Nets hot on our trail. You can follow us on twitter at @westcoastknicks, Matt - @mattritter1 Jeff - @jeffcerulli and like us on iTunes and follow us on Podomatic
This week Matt Ritter and Jeff Cerulli discuss a very light week for the Knicks. A win in London vs the bottom feeding Pistons and a rough, rough loss to a bitter rival NJ Nets. We discuss again how rebounding and effort are becoming major problems and how we wish we had a guy like Reggie Evans instead of a stiff like Copeland. On the bright side, Amare's work with Hakeem seems to be paying off, although he looks visibly shorter and is getting stuffed everytime he drives baseline. Once again Melo and JR are having rough shooting outings, although there really aren't many options for shooting. We run through the available free agents in an effort to avoid having K-Mart come to the Knicks. Matt's personal choice would be Dan Gadzuric. Jeff seems to like a guy named Marcus Cousins, not to be confused with DeMarcus Cousins. This is the Marcus Cousins. We look ahead to a rematch against the Celts where the smell of Honey Nut Cheerios may be wafting through the air vents and pray that the Knicks can rip off a winning streak in an easy stretch of the schedule.
We end the year in style by bringing on Cousin Mikey, another West Coast transplant who spends his days gambling on Basketball with a bunch of Australians and buying all the hot new NBA kicks. We discuss his views on Amare - he has always ranked him as one of the NBA's biggest cancers and on Melo - he agrees that the man has been reborn. He has many theories, one is that Melo's game has improved due to unknown personal factors. I describe the Amare-Melo dynamic, which I believe to be basically Amare is Melo's driver. We also get into some Laker and Clipper talk and even discuss the upstart T-Wolves who gave us quite a scare this week, before J.R. Smith and Melo willed us to victory. It was a tough week after our first home losses, but hopefully we can step it up on a relatively easy 3 game west coast swing. Happy Holidays to all of our listeners. Thanks to those of you who tuned into my new TV Show "Chained to My Ex" Jeff Cerulli and I will be back to discuss the 2013 drive to the NBA finals after the new years!
This week, we get to hear from another great guest, NY Daily News beat reporter, Frank Isola, who has been covering the Knicks since 1996. He shoots me down after I suggest Novak is better than Ray Allen and reminds me that Tyson Chandler didn't fare so well in the playoffs against Bosh. Basically, the reality check podcast. It was a great week, starting with J.R. Smith's first career game winner in Charlotte. The monster's dethroning of King James and Company without Melo. An ugly but hypercompetitive loss in Chicago and finally a really nice comeback win against a very hardworking Nuggets team with an Italian with a chip on his shoulder. Jeff Cerulli and I unveil our new weekly Knicks rankings, somehow James "Flight" White makes Jeff's list.
Amazing Race competitor, film producer and die hard Knicks fan, Justin Kanew joins us to talk about the past week where the Knicks took care of business against a few inferior opponents. We also talk about his experience shooting a comedy with the legendary Jean Claude Van Damne. As usual, Jeff Cerulli and I debate my feelings on Sheed and Priggioni, who I'm starting to come around on. Sheed finally gets his first ejection, but did he deserve it and did we just find out that Copeland is really good. Most importantly, Jeff and I discuss whether a top flight Urban Professional League team could defeat a WNBA team. Can we make this matchup happen somehow?
Comedians Matt Ritter and Jeff Cerulli break down the first rough week of the Knicks season. We actually lost two games in a row to Dallas and Houston on the road, who do we blame? Kidding, there's no one to blame, they recovered with a nice blowout win at home against the Pistons where we saw the return of Novakaine. We discuss the Houston debacle, the Chandler Bang phenomenon and all things Knicks. We even google Camby's Houston estate and guess what it's worth!
This week Matt Ritter and Jeff Cerulli welcome very special guest, ESPN's Ian Begley. Ian covers all of the NY sports teams and gives us an inside look inside the Knicks locker room. He also tells us what being a beat reporter is like. We discuss Melo's improved defensive focus, JR Smith playing under control, the rotation, why politics may keep Rasheed Wallace in it and Kurt Thomas out and Ian reveals the funniest Knick. Pretty joyous time to be a Knick fan so get on our bandwagon before they actually start losing games!
Comedians Matt Ritter and Jeff Cerulli break down the magical first week of the Knicks season. Melo playing unselfishly, two crafty Point Guards doing their thing, Chandler being Chandler, the future buddy cop duo, JR Smith and Novak shooting the lights out, the ups and downs of Prigoni and Brewer and whether Rasheed is just a novelty. Basically everything else that went right in this 3-0 week where we murdered Philly twice and annihilate the NBA's best team, the Miami Heat. We also discuss happenings around the league, like Harden making people forget he was ever 3rd best on any team, some potential new NBA stars like Jru Holliday, Lou Williams and Kyrie Irving, Dolph Lundgren, aka Nikolo Pekovic and our old favorite gunslinger, Jamal Crawford.
Comedian Matt Ritter lives on the West Coast but refuses to give up his Knicks addiction. So he sits down with fellow comic and New Yorker Jeff Cerulli to break down the upcoming season. We discuss the effect of the Jeremy Lin departure, the new additions of Raymond "Svelton" Felton, Jason Kidd, Marcus Camby and any other players on the team that were great in 1999, and the coexistence of Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoutemire, aka everything that is wrong with the Knicks.
