oh great.  Now I'm a fan of PUP.  Thanks to Jeff Cork for both the band recommendation and joining me this Episode.  Jeff, can currently be found as a CoHost of BetterQuest (a Podcast about getting better) that is part of the greater MinnMax umbrella and also on AFireInsideOut where him and Ben Hanson talk about their love for AFI and each album.  All this sage wisdom at my disposal and I immediately try to make him a fan of Bluey.  However,  through the course of this Episode we touch on improving ourselves and the places we find the most meditative peace in our lives.  For him that is Legos!  The classic toy of any childhood Nerd.  But,  as we grow older we learn to enjoy the quiet that comes with these projects.  But don't take my word for it!  Listen as Jeff speaks about his love for the Legos brand and other Nerd topics. -Sincerely, Eric *Editors Note:  As mentioned in this Episode any amount given to the Podcast through Anchor will be forwarded to Charity.  If you would like it to go towards ExtraLife as mentioned by Jeff Cork please let me know. *Link to the beautiful modules he speaks about:  https://www.lego.com/en-us/categories/modular-buildings --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/calmdownnerd/support

Is it ‘90s in here or is it just me? Jeff Cork (BetterQuest, Game Informer) brings his beloved Beulah record, “When Your Heartstrings Break,” to CrossFade’s doorstep and Matt responds with The Afghan Whigs’s “Black Love.” Both albums are appropriately fueled by angst – sometimes about masculinity, sometimes about insecurity, and sometimes about the Civil War – and they’re full of incredible moments we couldn’t wait to dig into. Community questions get us talkin’ Foreigner, bad album covers, written album reviews, and more before we head down a paranoid path with crooner Tom Waits for our outro song (thanks, MinnMax supporter Michael Lynch!). On this week's episode of The Game Informer Show, we dissect the entirety of EA Play and let you know what we think of Star Wars: Squadrons, Lost in Random, and whether or not the publishing giant nailed its digital event. Later, we briefly touch upon the Cyberpunk 2077 delay, predict what we think next week's Pokémon event will reveal, and wrap the show with the return of Community Emails. Observant fans will note that I am in fact not Andy McNamara. Due to the EA event being past his bedtime, Andy wasn't able to make this week's episode work. Instead, I had the absolute pleasure of hosting with the help of the amazing Andrew Reiner, Matthew Kato, Ben Reeves, Joe Juba, and Jeff Cork. We continue to do this show from our homes as we hunker down in quarantine, so please forgive us for any audio or video hiccups as we deliver content outside the studio. Hosting The GI Show was an amazing experience, but also my first time. Please send me any and all constructive feedback for the show on Twitter, and be sure to share the show if you enjoyed it! The show starts with Ben Reeves, Jeff Cork, and Matt Miller as we discuss our PlayStation 25th Anniversary cover story, Darksiders Genesis, and Arise: A Simple Story. The entire show is produced by the man in the box, Alex Stadnik (someone asked for his Twitter handle too so you can find it here).  Next, we dive head first into community emails. Joined by Matt Miller, Joe Juba, and Andy Reiner for this week's discussion, which is highlighted by the theme of us becoming the "Lords of Gaming" and making proclamations as to how we would rule. Good times. For part four of our Game of the Year chats, where I ask guests what games are defining their year, I am joined by Andy Reiner and special guests from The Video Game History Foundation, Frank Cifaldi, and Kelsey Lewin. This segment will run the rest of this year, as we bring in editors (and guests) every week to talk about games that have impacted their year in the lead-up to Game Informer's Top 50 of 2019.  And finally, we chat with Alex Hutchinson, co-founder and creative director at Typhoon Studios. We talk about his history (spoiler alert: he was creative director for Assassin's Creed III and Far Cry 4 among many others) and their upcoming release Journey to the Savage Planet.
