The Art of Costume Design is a key element in the evolution of a production. The work of the Designer helps to establish the ‘world of the play', the definition and resonance of character, and a ‘skin' in which the performer can execute their best work.Australian Costume Designers, Jennifer Irwin and Julie Lynch have decades of experience helming the aesthetic of attire in a vast repertoire of entertainments across many genres and disciplines.Jennifer Irwin's commissions include over 90 ballets as well as some of the largest scale spectacular productions ever staged in Australia; including the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games, and Francesca Zambello's ‘West Side Story' staged on Sydney Harbour.Jennifer designed the costumes for the International Box office sensation ‘Dirty Dancing' the musical, breaking all pre box office pre sales of any show ever staged in the history of London's West End.Her costume design for the feature film ‘SPEAR' was nominated for an AACTA award in 2017. She was recognized for her contribution to Dance at the Australian Dance Awards ‘Service to Dance' in 2015. Jennifer has designed for Bangarra Dance Theatre since the company's inception.Jennifer's work can currently be seen on the stages of the Sydney Opera House in 3 seperate productions with Bangarra and Opera Australia.Julie Lynch enjoys a successful costume design career spanning 35 years, working with many of Australia's leading directors, including: Neil Armfield, John Bell, Jonathan Biggins, Richard Cottrell, Gale Edwards, Lee Lewis, Elke Neidhardt and Richard Wherrett. She has designed for Australia's leading theatre companies, including: The Sydney Theatre Company, Opera Australia, Belvoir St, Bell Shakespeare, Victoria State Opera, The State Theatre Company of South Australia and Opera South Australia. After a year of teaching young students online during the first wave of COVID-19, Lynch decided to leave her leadership position as Director for Design Practices at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) to pursue her passion for Visual Art and has loved every minute.A great discussion ensued at STAGES ‘Live' dissecting the process of the designer and exploring the immense possibilities presented with Costume Design. The STAGES podcast is available to access and subscribe from Whooshkaa, Spotify and Apple podcasts. When I heard about this story of Bryan Irwin and the news he received last fall that he was dying from pancreatic cancer, I wasn't sure how to handle the subject matter. When his daughter asked to be part of the program, it tore at me because I am a father of two daughters. My greatest strength and weakness as a radio and podcast host is taking my guest's stories and life journeys personally. It took all I had to stay emotionally grounded. The show came together with Bryan's positive spirit roaring through it. The show is about life, not death, and the incredible bond between a parent and child. It will also strike a powerful chord with you as we all share something in common with Bryan - there is no if to life and death, only when. We are all running out of time. So now my essential question is this: If you knew how much time you had left, would you value it differently? Would you, could you stay optimistic? Bryan Irwin joins me on chatter that matters with his daughter, acclaimed actress Jennifer Irwin. They laugh and never cry. They share stories of Irwin Toys, the family business where Bryan spent most of his life. A business of hits like The Easy-Bake Oven, Slinky and Pound Puppies, and at other times incredible stress. Bryan also talks about his reinvention at age 60, where he started another toy company and, of course, how Bryan is spending his remaining days. Jennifer shares how she found success in the television industry in LA and today is both an actor and writer. Celebrate as your spirits lift through the incredible love and bond between Father and Daughter. Be motivated by Bryan's approach to his news and his inspirational lessons on valuing time as the true treasure of your remaining life. The Gate, released May 15th in 1987, is a funny horror film that might be for children, we honestly don't really know. It focuses on our two pre-teen leads as they accidentally open a gate to hell in their backyard. Carol the Coach is interviewing Jennifer Irwin who wrote the novel, A Dress the Color of the Sky. This book reads more like a memoir and shares one woman's battle with sex addiction to cope with childhood trauma. It is a riveting story and it helps the general publiic understand the dynamics behind why a woman would use sex to medicate. Her premise is that for too many years, Prudence Aldrich had been numbing the pain in her life with random sexual encounters. Her marriage to cold, self-centered Nick is, not surprisingly, on the rocks. But after several dangerous experiences with strangers, Prudence finally realizes she needs therapy to stop her self-destructive behavior, and so she checks into the Serenity Hills rehab center. Prudence blames herself for her irresponsible behavior and is filled with self-loathing. She’s convinced she is completely at fault for Nick’s manipulative attitude and believes with therapy, she can return their relationship to its idyllic beginnings. However, her therapist and the other members of her rehab group see the person behind the pain. As Prudence learns about herself and the reasons for her behavior, including startling revelations about her childhood, she begins to understand the basis for her lack of sexual self-respect. She also learns she is not entirely to blame for the failure of her marriage. With the positive reinforcement of everyone at Serenity Hills, Prudence learns not to define herself by her past. But moving forward would mean letting go of Nick for good, and Prudence isn’t sure she can. Jennifer depicts what has to happen in Prudence's life to find wholeness within herself.

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered one of their worst losses of the season on the road against the New Orleans Pelicans. Nick Young went down with what was tentatively being called an Achilles strain just minutes into the night, leaving the Lakers without both members of their starting backcourt for the forseeable future. Will injuries end any hopes the Lakers had of a postseason berth? Hosts Harrison Faigen and Anthony Irwin discussed that on the show, and also brought on Anthony’s wife, Dr. Jennifer Irwin, DPT to discuss Young’s injury, how long he might be sidelined, and what recovery for and Achilles strain could look like on the latest episode of Locked on Lakers. We are delighted to welcome author Jennifer Irwin to Madame Perry's Salon. Irwin will talk about her novel A Dress The Color Of The Sky, writing, inspiration, and the thrill of selling the film rights! For too many years, Prudence Aldrich has been numbing the pain in her life with random sexual encounters. Her marriage to cold, self-centered Nick is, not surprisingly, on the rocks. But after several dangerous experiences with strangers, Prudence finally realizes that she needs therapy to stop her self-destructive behavior, and so she checks into the Serenity Hills rehab center. Prudence blames herself for her irresponsible behavior and is filled with self-loathing. She’s convinced she’s totally at fault for Nick’s manipulative attitude and that, with therapy, she can return their relationship to its idyllic beginning. However, her therapist and the other members of her rehab group see the person behind the pain. As Prudence learns more about herself and the reasons for her behavior—including startling revelations about her childhood—she begins to understand the basis for her lack of sexual self-respect. She also learns that she’s not entirely to blame for the failure of her marriage. With the positive reinforcement from everyone at Serenity Hills, Prudence learns not to define herself by her past. But moving forward would mean letting go of Nick for good—and Prudence isn’t sure she can. Theme music for Madame Perry's Salon, Miss E's Vacation, is composed and performed by Denton Perry.

"Call Me When You Get There" Directed by Michael Patrick Jann Writing Credits Adam F. Goldberg (creator) Michael J. Weithorn (written by) Kristopher Valentine (staff writer) Story One: Barry Must Follow the Rules Barry has just received his license but must obey Beverly's rules for driving. Barry gets called out at the movie theater the first time he breaks the rule. Story Two: Beverly Worries About Pops Falling Down. Beverly gets Pops a device that helps him if he were ever to fall. Pops is resistant to wear the device until he throws out his back. Story Three: Erica helps Barry Erica schools Barry on how to get around the driving rules so he doesn't screw up her privileges. October 18th, 1980-something Todd & Taras talk about when they first got their license and the rules their parents set for them. Then we compare our road rules to the rules Beverly Goldberg set on Erica and Barry. Bev's Rules of Driving: ? (we guess: Follow ALL Traffic Laws) ? In trouble? Call for help and STAY In The Car Be home by 10 ? ? Total Focus On The Road: No eating, No passengers, No music Doors must be locked and windows rolled up at ALL times Only drive in safe areas. Bev made a map of appropriate driving zones. Stay in Green zone Call me when you get there!!! Todd tells us about how he used to hang out in the poster section of Spencer's Gifts…you know where all the barely clothed HOT chicks were at! Also Todd reminisces about a VERY DISTURBING STORY on a gag gift he got his Mom when he was in his early teens…before he knew how inappropriate it really was. Here's a hint….it was cylindrical and took batteries. Taras said his Mom didn't do too many things to embarrass him in front of his friends where Todd's Mom pulled him and his friends out of the movie theater once when she took them to see Weird Science (Which is an AWESOME movie). It was too much for Todd's Mom to handle, but for the kids….it was awesome. All 15 minutes of it! Taras tells us a story between him and his sister. Does she help Taras evade his parents while he's “impaired” or does she throw him under the bus? Next we discuss an AWESOME topic: The Best Commercials of the 1980's: Check out our series we put on our YouTube Channel: “The Best ‘80s Commercials Series” “Where's The Beef” Kool-Aid (busting thru the wall) Tootsie Pop “How many licks does it take to get to the center…” 1, 2, 3 (CRUNCH) 3 “The World may never know” FULL Commercial “This is your brain on drugs” “I learned it from watching YOU Dad” California Raisins Spuds Mackenzie “I've Fallen, and I can't Get Up” Our sentimental moments…...Just like Adam has a moment and realization that Pops is vulnerable, Todd and Taras share their experiences on realizing those Superman like family members have a day where they aren't so invincible….and it's sometime crushes your heart. #JenkintownFacts Jenkintown has two firehouses. They are a block apart…. Thank you Mayor Ed Foley @MayorFoley Next Episode s1e8 "The Kremps" Beverly is determined to make friends with a standoffish neighbor (guest star Jennifer Irwin).
