Derek Hess is an internationally acclaimed artist with works permanently displayed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Louvre in Paris. His work explores dark and intense themes that have made him a favorite in tattoo parlors worldwide and a beloved creator of show fliers, posters and fine art for bands like Green Day, the Melvins, Pearl Jam, Pink Floyd, and Sepultura, among others. His work launched Strhess Apparel line, and was spun off into a traveling music festival. The 2014 documentary film Forced Perspective documented his struggles with bipolar disorder and alcoholism, and he founded the Acting Out! group to spread awareness of mental health issues among creative people across all disciplines.Derek joins the show to discuss an album by one of the great metal bands of all time. Black Sabbath released “Sabotage” in 1975 in the midst of a legal battle with their former managers, and is known as much for its infamous album cover as it is for its mix of heavy rockers and experimental songs, including “Hole In The Sky,” “Symptom of the Universe,” and “The Writ.” The album has been dubbed as the final installment of “the legendary six” records first released by the band, and is consistently listed as one of the greatest metal records of all time. Fringe 4x10 'Forced Perspective' - Episode Analysis. This week host Luke Winch is joined by regular guest Andrew Brooker to discuss Fringe 4x10, 'Forced Perspective'. After the events of the preceding two-parter, season four has a breather and gives us a relatively standalone episode. Does it work in season four? Is the episode a bit of an outlier this season? And why is it so easy to believe all the bonkers things that happen in Fringe and so hard to believe a suspect database search can be successful with a dodgy pencil sketch?Host / Producer / EditorLuke WinchGuestAndrew BrookerExecutive ProducerTony BlackTwitter: @TheOTPPodcastFacebook: Observing the PatternWebsite: wemadethisnetwork.comLogo artwork by Mel Langton.Website: mellangton.com.Find her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram under Mel Langton Art.

Welcome to Mysteries to Die For. I am TG Wolff and am here with Jack, my piano player and producer. This is a podcast where we combine storytelling with original music to put you at the heart of mystery, murder, and mayhem. These are arrangements, which means instead of word-for-word readings, you get a performance meant to be heard. Jack and I perform these live, front to back, no breaks, no fakes, no retakes. This is Season 3, Enter the Detective. This season contains adaptations of the first cases for detectives. Some will be characters from book, screen, and stage. Others will be lesser known but with great stories that we hope you give a try. Episode 10 is about solving money problems. Permanently. This is Poirot and the Affair at Styles, an adaptation of Agatha Christie's The Mysterious Affair at Styles. The Gate, released May 15th in 1987, is a funny horror film that might be for children, we honestly don't really know. It focuses on our two pre-teen leads as they accidentally open a gate to hell in their backyard. Another legend on this week! Derek Hess! We talk about all kinds of things including his (highly recommended) documentary "Forced Perspective", his take on "dark art", his loose style, his art teachers, how he got into creating rock posters, mental health and tons more. This is one of those conversations that we both forgot was being recorded so there is lots of interesting chit chat. Also- Derek was unable to get Skype to work for him so I had to record his interview on the phone using a phone call recording app. Audio quality is not great but the dialogue is still very clear and easy to hear. The boys get back to a fan favorite, underwater photography. What do you do when the dive changes? Maybe it's because of the weather, maybe it's because of a mechanical problem with the boat, or maybe it's the bio-rhythms of your hard-bodied models that prevents them from diving… probably an ear problem. Anyway, when things go bad you can make some easy changes to your perspective to still come away with a great dive and some even better photographs.

Director Nick Cavalier joins hosts Frank King and Kristin Walker to talk about his work and filming tough subjects. He was the director of the documentary Down Again. Kristin had interviewed Chimaira frontman Mark Hunter, the subject of Down Again, on our show. That film is an exploration of the connection between mental illness and creativity. The film explores the catharsis of making music and art and how the result affects the fans. What we wanted to check in with Nick about was how he as a filmmaker handles his own mental health challenges while filming intense, raw, vulnerable, and sometimes controversial material. Bob Gallagher has directed some of my favourite music videos of recent years for some of my favourite bands, including Pillow Queens, Villagers and Girl Band. He recently held his first solo photography exhibition at the Darkroom on North Brunswick Street in Dublin City. Entitled Forced Perspective, it was an experiment with an analogue photographic process and 3D stills. Acts featured included Wastefellow, Loah, TPM, Naoise Roo, Villagers, The Claque and Junior Brother. On April 18 at Dublin's Button Factory, Gallagher takes part in Under My Garage, a late-night 'talk show' featuring discussion, music and live visuals. "Now, for one night only, Gallagher invites you on a journey through his subconscious, transforming the Button Factory into the set of a fictional late night talk show to meet some of his closest collaborators, dissect his work, watch some never-before-seen footage and find out where the bodies are buried. Warning: it will be weird." It features Conor O'Brien (Villagers), Pillow Queens, Myles Manley, Cal Folger Day and Bryan Quinn, with more to be announced - and music from the Under My Garage House Band. Brid O'Donovan talked to Bob about his photography process for the Forced Perspective exhibition, how it came about, collaboration and what's next.

On this episode of KLB extra we are joined by Mark the Mark Sportsguy 515 from Forced Perspective and the great Denny Luis as we tackle Goldberg's dance partner for Survivor Series Brock Lesnar and a retrospective on his career. We start the show with a Sid Vicious interview where he says he would be the biggest draw now, while saying his better than Austin, Flair and Rock. We tackle Lesnar trying not to cry when Matt Hardy hit him IN THE FACE with a chair. The botched shooting star pressed. The Big Blow Lesnar's whipping boy. We mark out for Lesnar kicking the Cena hat the night after Raw. Draven loses his shit once again recapping Lesnar v. Reigns Mania 31. And a play by play of the night Big D was broken when Brock Lesnar did the J-O-B to john Cena. All that plus Bob Holly getting abroken fricking neck...on purpose? Tune in right now!!!
Award-Winning Documentary Director Nick Cavalier invited me to his studio for classic Italian Meatballs and a conversation. Nick opened up about his past growing up in the "Rust Belt" of Cleveland, Ohio, his struggle with Mental Disorders, following his passion in art, and his work with renowned Artist Derek Hess. See all of Nick's work at www.NickCavalier.com and check out his movie "Forced Perspective" now available on Vimeo On Demand.
What if Frank Lloyd Wright and Adolf Hitler became joined together in some kind of very unlikely transporter accident? You might end up with Venetri. And just to make sure you see it his way, it's "Forced Perspective."
The lovely Joe Moya sent in a request that we review WWE Survivor Series 2002 and as promised - IT'S HERE! But no, the Kayfabulous Lucha Brothers are not alone on this one and we present our first special guest ever on the program - Sportsguy515 from Forced Perspective, but on this show he's back to being MARK THE MARK, and THIS MARK, was IN THE BUILDING during the 2002 Survivor Series, the PREMIER of the gimmick match known as the ELIMINATION CHAMBER! So we've got his live thoughts! This is part 1, so we talk about such topics as Saliva and its relation to Draven's past relationships, in depth analysis of the greatness of Eric Bischoff as the Raw GM and what's right and wrong about heel authority figures in pro wrestling, the reunion of the Dudleys, our LOVE of 3 Minute Warning - Rose-Ay and Eki, Rico Constantino and the OVW Class of the early 2000s, WWF New York's overpriced burgers, Jamie Noble and Nidia's AMAZING characters, Kidman's distracting and unfitting rap theme that debuted here, Women going Hardcore, and we break down the BAD BOOKING of Lesnar and Big Show the turmoil behind the scenes. Tons to talk about here as the three of us paint the picture of late 2002 WWE, no Austin, no Rock, and no F! Part 2 next week!

Prophecy and the end times as seen through the lens of Willy Wonka. I illustrate the theory of the "new new world order," first explained to me by Frank Lordi and Chris White on the Frank & Chris Show. In subsequent discussions with Chris, I developed this idea of how to visually represent some of the timelines in Bible prophecy. In this episode, I read Matthew 24 and 2nd Thessalonians 2, but there are more I could have used. I also analyze the lyrics to "Pure Imagination," the song in the film which is a much-covered song, giving the same false hope as "The Rainbow Connection." This week Lando and I are discussing the disturbing increase in people who are losing their perspective on the things that matter. Nitpicking on party affiliation instead of working to fix the problems in Iraq, sitting and back and relaxing without holding governments accountable, choosing sensationalism rather than truly hard news...there are times where we seem to want someone else to just take care of the big issues, ignore them in favor of assigning blame, or we simply can't seem to focus on what they are. And what's with that silly Electoral College anyway? Opening Music: "Fire In The Sky" by Dave London Closing Music: "ET" by Peplab
