Send us a textJUROR #2 It's late-December and, foregoing our usual Christmas-adjacent movie watch, this year TGTPTU has a very special treat for the holidays. That's right, listener, we bring to you our hot takes on what may prove to be Clint Eastwood's final film--and even more likely his final theatrically-released film--JUROR #2 (2024) in time for its MAX streaming release so that you might celebrate with us and have yourself a very Merry Clint-mas. Eastwood's latest film with Warner Brothers continues what was a trend (excepting Cry Macho and The Mule) of not starring the star of the 70's ape comedies and the Dirty Harry series, instead keeping Eastwood off camera and bringing in a murderer's row (some pun intended) of character actors, including Nicholas Hoult from multiple Bryan Singer flicks as the titular Juror #2; Toni Collette from The Sixth Sense as Assistant DA Faith Killebrew who may put her career on the line to explore whether the person she put away for murder is guilty; J.K. Simmons from Postal (and likely some other films) as a former detective on the jury who also has suspicions of innocence; Cedric Yarbrough from Reno 911! as juror out for justice; Kiefer Sutherland from multiple Joel Schumacher flicks as Juror #2's AA sponsor and lawyer confidant; and even one of Eastwood's many children--Francesca Eastwood--giving the double bird in multiple, retold scenes Rashomon-style playing the once-and-future corpse.  From The Mule & Richard Jewell, cinematographer Yves Bélanger is back with Mark Mancina returning from Cry Macho for the score. And surprisingly and, as discussed, perhaps as a first for Eastwood as a director, the man who addressed an empty chair at the RNC and practices TM actually worked with the film's writer to GASP! rewrite the script, an act host Ken who has seen and reported back on every Eastwood film takes to mean Juror #2 is the 94-year-old director's swan song.   And the song is good! While the hosts conflict on where the movie lands politically in its cynicism and realism, all four of the folx talking in your earholes believe the moving picture a solid mid-budget thriller that harkens back to a time/era of pre-streaming moviegoing. Speaking of an era ending, Warner Brothers appears to believe the Time of Eastwood is done, releasing this latest film from the long-time collaborator in under 50 theaters seven scheduled weeks before releasing it for streaming on MAX.   So get your spoilers here, and listen to the end of the p for what starts as a rant against WB's treatment of Eastwood and becomes men complaining about previews and ads before films that eventually ends with the four hosts recapping their 2024 movie-going experiences before awarding their best films of the year. Also fun: Evidence is presented throughout by hosts Ken and Thomas for whether provisional cohost Ryan should be promoted to a full-time host. Congrats, newly fully-fledged host Ryan. Don't rush to mess this up. At age 94, Clint Eastwood is back! He directed the new legal thriller Juror No. 2 to critical acclaim! The courtroom isn't our favorite place to be in movies and we certainly had some issues with Clint's latest and last (?) film. The movie stars Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Chris Messina, Zoey Deutch, Cedric Yarbrough, and Kiefer Sutherland. Hang in there Clint!

For this week's main podcast review, I am joined by Josh Parham, Dan Bayer & Daniel Howat to review and discuss Clint Eastwood's latest film "Juror #2," starring Nicholas Hoult, Toni Collette, J. K. Simmons, Chris Messina, Zoey Deutch, Cedric Yarbrough & Kiefer Sutherland. The film had its world premiere at the 2024 AFI Fest last week, where it received solid reviews, but is being unceremoniously dumped in less than 50 theaters by Warner Bros. So what gives? Is this as bad as the studio is making it out to be, or is something else happening here? Tune in as we discuss the acting, writing, direction, awards season chances, and more in our SPOILER-FILLED review. Thank you for listening, and enjoy! Wendi and Dfernando's thirty-fourth episode is speaker, musician, author, husband/father and award-winning filmmaker Tim Frost.  Along with every mention above, Tim Frost is also an author of hope from firsthand experiences of survival. He emits a positive and light-hearted energy when he speaks to a large crowd or in a one-on-one conversation. You would never know as a young boy growing up in tiny towns of East Texas, he was abused, neglected, became dependant on drugs and believed he had no purpose on this earth. As a kid Tim found an outlet in creating stories and music. Through these, his imagination and humor kept him optimistic and hopeful even when life became almost unbearable. His life stories are full of a boy’s heartache, sprinkled with laughter and sealed with hope. He’s been a drug-dealer, worship leader, hip-hop producer, local business entrepreneur, and short film composer.A few years ago, after visiting his counselor, Tim began writing down his story beginning with his first memory at the age of three in a dirty trailer house where many unspeakables happened. These are the memories that had been buried deep and purposely, because no one wants to remember, especially tell, anyone about being abused. But slowly, as he began to write, there came the light. He was giving voice to the silenced pain, hidden secrets, and dark memories and he started to change. He shared a few pages of his journal with his wife DeAnda and she, just like many others would soon begin to say: you need to write a book! In his memoir THE FAMILY PORTRAIT, Tim not only candidly tells of how he fumbles into fatherhood, but he authentically reveals how forgiveness and vulnerability lead to a life full of hope. So what began and was even completed solely for Tim’s personal healing, for readers THE FAMILY PORTRAIT will surprisingly make you laugh, inspire hope, and encourage dreams. A few months into the global COVID 19 shutdown, on July 21, 2020, Reddit posted an article on Odin and his childhood friend Jordan and their high school graduation after beating all the odds put against them since birth.  The articlewent viral and instantly their story was being covered globally by major news outlets from CBS, NBC, FOX, MSN to the UK’s Metro.  Overnight, the Frost family was embraced by thousands across the globe which prompted Timto begin sharing on social media the 1-minute video montages he had been making daily documenting each day of the Frost family during the pandemic.  After the suggestion from a friend, he submitted a compilation short film of these daily montage videos to film festivals.  The short documentarytitled IT’S A GOOD DAY soon won the WCTE PBS Downtown Film Festival-Tennessee - BEST SHORT DOCUMENTARY.  Quickly the short film was winning other film festivals like Buzz Vicious Film Festival-Brazil-BEST INSPIRATIONAL FILM along with 9 Film Fest-Bangkok Thailand-Official Selection for Best of the Fest and Reel East Texas Film Festival-Official Selection for Best in Texas. Today, Tim resides in a little Texas town with his dream-inspiringwife of 20 years DeAnda and their special needs son Odin, who is just as quirky and full of adventure as his dad. They all play music together, hope big together and try to live every day more courageously than the one before.Take a listen to Tim Frost’s music productions: timfrostmusic.comMusic Colab project: thedreamwalkingsociety.comAnd music by the family band FROST, featuring Tim, DeAnda and Odin can be found on Apple Music and Spotify. Click to purchase the DIFFERENT IS GOOD t-shirt.  All profits are donated to Odin and Jordan.  And on Episode 34, Wendi and Dfernando continue the air fryer topic, and Wendi reconnects with a former baby-sitting client.  On the RIPE & ROTTEN REPORT there's the Netlix documentary MY OCTOPUS TEACHER, instacart check-out impulse suggestions (with no provided coupon), the 8th Season of THE GOLDBERGSand celebrities gushing on their social media about all their free swag.  Follow us on our Instagram: Wendi McLendon-CoveyDfernando ZarembaGENERATION RIPE... and our guest Tim Frost and his Facebook page. Remember to subscribe, rate & leave a reviewfor GENERATION RIPEVisit Dfernando Zaremba's website: dfernandozaremba.com

From #TheShowKC: It doesn't feel like fall. Truta voted early but refrained from taking a ballot selfie, unlike Justin Timberlake. Jen and Truta try to get Shaylee to bring them breakfast. The Cubs lost Game 1 of the World Series in a blowout to the Indians. There's another try tonight. The girls are still trying to figure out their Halloween costumes. Listeners chime in with the worst Halloween candy. Truta maintains it is candy corn, but we add plenty others to the list. Does Truta sound anything like the Buffalo Bill guy from Silence of the Lambs? He thinks he does, the girls just think he sounds creepy. Listener Kathy plays Gen-X vs Millennial and wins 2000-5. Shaylee obviously has a lot of work to do. Tomorrow is the Shaylee dating game. And Cedric Yarbrough, who plays Kenneth on Speechless, called in to talk about tonight's Halloween episode on @ABCTV.

Actor Christopher Douglas Reed is our guest for the final Hughes' movie, Drillbit Taylor (Owen Wilson, Nate Hartley, Ian Roberts, Troy Gentile, David Koechner, Leslie Mann, Matt Walsh, Lisa Lampanelli, Josh Peck, Danny McBride, Cedric Yarbrough, Stephen Root). The show opens with a short chat about the state of San Diego sports. Later, Anthony uncovers the fact that half the film was shot at local coffee chains, Tim talks about body hair, and Chris wants you to use his MeUndie promo code. A special guest (Darren Hayes) pops in...who could it be? (Darren Hayes)? Adam Baldwin and Chuck Liddell join Hughes alum, Frank Whaley for a cameo bonanza, Bueller gets referenced, and Tim pleasures zombies. John Hughes' favorite slur returns. Enjoy! Last Hughes Movie! We'll be back with the gathering of a lifetime.
