The MMA Vivisection Shows: 'Main Card Preview' & 'Prelims Card Preview'
We're just a day away from a pretty solid PPV with UFC 305, and even the undercard has a little razzle dazzle. Once again, I can't help but laugh to myself when I stop to think what you all are guessing the title means. It would be pretty great to see some of you came up with before you listened to the show. The comments are right there, just in case you want to share. MMA Vivisection & 6th Round is a reader-supported publication. To receive new posts and support my work, consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. But right now, let's see what's shaking with the prelims. We're getting a heavyweight bout as the featured prelim, and for that, I will offer up a rare bit of gratitude in keeping unranked heavies on the undercard. Junior Tafa is a crowd favorite and willing to get right in the pocket, so Valter Walker should prepare for that. It's decent placement for this event. Let's take a look at the rest of the bouts and some alternative stats:UFC 305 Undercard* Junior Tafa vs. Valter Walker 265 lbs* Josh Culibao vs. Ricardo Ramos 145 lbs* Casey O'Neill vs. Luana Santos 125 lbs* Jack Jenkins vs. Herbert Burns 145 lbs* Tom Nolan vs. Alex Reyes 155 lbs* Kenan Song vs. Ricky Glenn 170 lbs* Stewart Nicoll vs. Jesus Aguilar 125 lbsUFC 305 Alternative Stats* Ranked fights: 4* Ranked fighters: 9* Fighters coming off losses: 15* Contender Series alumni: 5* TUF alumni: 1* Debuting fighters: 1 (Nicoll)Don't forget to check out the companion episode for our predictions and analysis of the main card. I first met Perry a couple of years ago at his second MMA fight. It's amazing to see how much people can grow in a short period of time. I actually did a little interview with him backstage and he was such a quiet kid that Josh Culibao (as his corner) was there poking fun at him. From living in Japan & starting his own little backyard fight promotion to deciding to come back to Australia by himself to find his own way, Perry is a committed guy chasing his goals. With Jim Norton out for the day, it's a Serra-Longo type of day on UFC Unfiltered as the great Ray Longo saves the day as guest co-host for an episode featuring lightweight Mike Davis and comedian Mike Glazer. Longo shares his perspective of this past Saturday's UFC Fight Night: Tuivasa vs. Tybura as someone who was in Las Vegas for the duration of the card. While recapping the card, Matt explains what he thinks he could see being the next course of action for Tai Tuivasa now that the Australian heavyweight has been stopped four straight times. Shortly thereafter, Mike Davis hops on the show to recap his 2nd-round submission win on Saturday's card over Natan Levy, using the backend of his interview to call out a popular lightweight similarly jockeying for a spot in the UFC's 155-pound rankings. When Davis leaves the show, Matt and Ray invite Mike Glazer on to talk to the comedian about the recent release of his special, “Life Rules!”, on YouTube. While Glazer's comedy keeps him from being a full-on MMA practitioner, Matt still manages to identify an interesting martial arts discipline that Longo and Glazer have in common. Matt and Ray end the show by sharing their thoughts on the news that Rio de Janeiro's UFC 301 co-main event will see Jose Aldo take on Jonathan Martinez in the Brazilian legend's first MMA fight since retiring after a loss to Merab Dvalishvili in 2022.
We're back with another massive episode! It's been an action packed week. We breakdown the news that friend of the pod Steve Erceg will be fighting for a world title at UFC 301, then recap a rough weekend for Aussies, with Josh Culibao and Tai Tuivasa both suffering losses. Plus a preview of this weeks Fight Night and heaps more! Hit the download button and step into the cage.

This year's UFC London card was almost a bust and definitely a far cry from the ones of Christmas past. The opening bout was absolutely bonkers for the 94 seconds it lasted, then we got the ho-hums for the next five fights. Even the crowd seemed underwhelmed by the fights, including the finishes. We did get big crowd moments for the last few fights but for the most part, this event kind of gave us a bad case of the yawns (looking squarely at you Jai Herbert and Fares Ziam). The Bloody Elbow Podcast is supported by our readers and listeners. To receive new posts and support our work, please consider becoming a free or paid subscriber. To their credit, the last four fights on the card were very good, especially the Wood-Fili fight. We figured it would be the big action banger of the event and it was as advertised. Paul Craig taking care of business was pretty nice too. Here's a look at the results:UFC London* Heavyweight: Tom Aspinall def. Marcin Tybura via TKO (punches) at 1:13 of Round 1* Flyweight: Julija Stoliarenko def. Molly McCann via submission (armbar) at 1:55 of Round 1* Featherweight: Nathaniel Wood def. Andre Fili via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 & 29-28)* Middleweight: Paul Craig def. Andre Muniz via TKO (ground and pound) at 4:40 of Round 2* Lightweight: Fares Ziam def. Jai Herbert via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 & 30-27)* Featherweight: Lerone Murphy def. Josh Culibao via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26 & 30-27)* Bantamweight: Daniel Marcos def. Davey Grant via split decision (29-28 Grant, 29-28 Marcos & 29-28 Marcos)* Welterweight: Jonny Parsons def. Danny Roberts via TKO (punches) at 4:57 of Round 2* Lightweight: Joel Alvarez def. Marc Diakiese via submission (head and arm choke) at 4:26 of Round 2* Heavyweight: Mick Parkin def. Jamal Pogues via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 & 30-27)* Middleweight: Makhmud Muradov def. Bryan Barberena via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 & 30-27)* Bantamweight: Ketlen Vieira def. Pannie Kianzad via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 & 29-28)* Lightweight: Chris Duncan def. Yanal Ashmouz via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27 & 29-28)* Strawweight: Bruna Brasil def. Shauna Bannon via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28 & 30-27)* Flyweight: Jafel Filho def. In this episode I sat down with Alexander Lattouf of @attapix Inspired by Will Harris and @AnatomyofaFighter Alex has a love of combat sports and realising that there was a gap in the Australian scene, there' was no reason why he can't help to fill some of that voice. You may have seen some of his work with Australian-Filipino UFC fighter Josh Culibao, or you might not know about him yet, however subscribe to his channel, give him a follow and it's always interesting to follow people as they grow and mature in both their abilities and as people. I think this episode is also a great testament to going after things, with Alex putting a lot of his own money into following these fighters and sharing in these experiences with them. With Alex being off to London to follow Josh Culibao and the Igor team in his upcoming fight against Lerone Murphy, it's always great to take an inside look at the behind the scenes action and the memories they encompass. Enjoy!

In this episode, we are honoured to have Josh 'Kuya' Culibao (@joshculibao) on this week's Okiru Huddle podcast. We talk about being the bunso (the youngest), being humbled in BJJ, idolising fighters and real-life battles, who is Josh Culibao outside of fighting, dealing with the ups and downs, representing 2 cultures (Philippines & Australia), and so much more! ---------------------------------Follow us on our different social.Official websitehttp://www.okiru.com.auInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/okiru.com.auSpotifyhttps://spoti.fi/3rOi6HOFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/okiru.apparelTikTokhttps://www.tiktok.com/@okiru.apparel----------------------------------Okiru (起きる/ Get Up) is a Melbourne based active streetwear brand that is influenced heavily by Japanese style and culture. Okiru was established by co-founders Gerald Prado and Lawrence Menor with the goal to create a message and movement focusing on physical and mental wellness. Okiru was first established in June 2019 through the joint love of design and creativity. During the build-up of Okiru, life's unforeseen circumstances had almost stopped us from establishing our brand. Okiru had evolved from being a creative outlet to now embodying the name; “Get Up”. We understand that people battle through mental and physical challenges every day, so our aim is to motivate people to push through difficult times and “Get Up” when they get knocked down. Through our own experiences, we believe in having the courage to begin, the strength to perform and the perseverance to keep going. Okiru represents believing in oneself and showing kindness to one another.
I sat down with Josh Culibao and Alan Philpott from Igor MMA in the lead up to their upcoming fights on 12 June and 16 July. Josh is set to face his fourth opponent in the UFC against the sting, Seung Woo Choi from Korea. Whilst Alan is set to face Diego Pereira on Eternal 67. After several episodes with Josh and some banter with the lads online it was good to meet them in person and see where all magic happens at Igor MMA. Appreciate the time and access the lads gave me and I'm looking forward to sitting down over a couple of beers after their fights and having another crack at it. We were only just getting started! Tune in to UFC 275 to see Josh sting the Choi on June 12th and then July 16th on Eternal 67 to see Alan square off against Diego Pereira live on UFC Fight Pass.
