The New Zealand Olympic triathlon team for Tokyo has been named - but there's a been controversy over the selection process. 11th ranked Hayden Wilde will spearhead the quartet.Tayler Reid's been given the second men's spot over the higher-ranked Sam Ward.Several athletes appealed their omissions, but the retirement of Sophie Corbidge has paved the way for the naming of Ainsley Thorpe and Nicole van der Kaay in the women's.Sports broadcaster Mark Watson told D'Arcy Waldegrave that he is a big believer in sending the best athletes to the Olympics, and Ward should have been picked, and has been devastated by the choice"The believe for the nature of this relay that Taylor Reid perhaps offers a little bit more."He says that he wants to know how many opportunities Ward received to compete in the races. And he does not believe that the two women selected are worthy enough to be called Olympians - noting that other competitors have missed out on going to the Olympics by seconds who would have been more worthy of representing New Zealand. "If they aren't good enough, don't send them."LISTEN ABOVE

Her first single was released in 2015, which is entitled "Slim Ting." The song gained her recognition due to its jazzy lyrics over the 90's riddim "showtime," which was initially created by Dave Kelly, a renowned producer across the Caribbean. Kaay Jones was born on the Island of Jamaica, West Indies. She then migrated to the United States at a young age. Ms. Jones began to take her music ambitions seriously in 2014. She entered a competition called "Dancehalls Got Talent" in Queens, New York. The show was never aired due to legal reasons. Before music, Ms. Jones worked part-time and attended Medgar Evers College, where she earned a Bachelor's degree. After the release of Slim Ting, Kaay Jones released an Ep titled Rough Love 2017, which was well reciprocated. Slim Ting gained international attention from a British producer and scored a remix. Paradise was the next track that gained attention on the EP due to its refreshing lyrics and visuals. In one of her latest projects, Ms. Jones was featured on a music track she co-wrote consisting of 25 artists from across the Caribbean, entitled "We Got This." One of the goals of this song was to soothe the brokenness covid-19 brought upon the Caribbean. Ms. Jones was featured in several magazines and newspapers across the Caribbean for her vocal and lyrical contribution. Her latest solo music track, released in August 2020 entitled "Mi Baby," is out on all streaming platforms. The music video is eye captivating paired with a wonderfully put together vocal production.
