This episode of the Hormone Genius is on Ketogenic nutrition and health. This is a big topic and can elicit feelings regarding how to approach nutrition. Jamie and Teresa are very aware of this and hope that this will be more of an educational experience on why a KETO approach to nutrition even exists. Teresa has personal experience with living a Ketogenic lifestyle, as well as reasons why approaching nutrition and understanding how we burn energy is important to all peoples health. This is also not meant to explain how to actually live a keto lifestyle. This episode instead, is meant to improve your understanding of how KETO can be a tool used by some individuals with doctor counsel to improve health. For those of you who have struggled with weight, an eating disorder, or in general loving your body, we understand and want you to know that there is a pathway that is healthy and holistic for each one of you. See our previous episode on Body Image, https://soundcloud.com/thehormonegenius/ep-28-body-image-and-being-your-authentic-self. You deserve to love your body and we want to support all women in this journey. There is no one way to live a holistic lifestyle, nor one nutritional space that is all right, or all wrong. So, discern well and take this information if anything to increase your understanding of this scientific approach to health. Teresa does not proclaim to be a foremost expert on Ketogenics, but is passionate about empowering others to learn what she has, in regards to the science of energy burning. We have provided below resources for more learning more from trusted physicians and scientists. Small Biz Matters – a half hour program each week where you can work ON your business rather than IN it.with Alexi Boyd from Boyd Office Management ServicesDate: 8 October 2019 Generally when presenting and someone combines the terms artificial intelligence and jobs into one sentence (particularly in certain sectors) people run for the exits. For years and across numerous industries we’ve associated AI with robots taking our jobs, downsizing staff numbers and general misery to small business. And for some people, Terminator. But over the last few years the fear has turned into curiosity and now, excitement. Hope that for most of us and our businesses technology might actually support, enable and ramp up the efficiency in our business to help us get back to what we love. Today’s guest is Jeremy Biggs; an expert in Intelligent Process Automation & Customer Relationship Management (CRM). And we’re going to learn how to make AI and tech our friend to enable and empower us as humans, not simply take over. Welcome to the show Jeremy. Topics we’ll be covering: Empowering humans, helping humanity with technology enablement - what we see in the world already: Common examples on how Technology already helps you be more productive with your time Technology enablement for health Fitbits and step-counters Future enablement through body sensors: Example Advanced health sensors Ketogenics– burning fats instead of sugars – knowing when your body is doing what & switching between the two. This goes into everything from hydration to the correct balance of nutrients for optimal living. I also think that this ties into technology enabled shopping - Using Google/Alexa to create shopping lists that automatically ship groceries to your door means that we will shop on purpose. Not so far off future will be fridges ordering the best food to meet your specific nutrition. IN the workplace we already have tons of technology enablement that helps us do more with less. The Simplest example would be to Access to email and digital workplaces: Work remotely, from home or anywhere - this means less travel time to (Sales reps example) Significant benefit to environment (less paper = less trees used) More time to spend with Family & doing the things we love Addresses a big issue in Australia around skills shortage Technology for efficiency & building happy teams, the age of in individual Empower people with tools and systems at the lowest common denominator, understand the pain points and scale up to management. The priority for businesses is to enable people with systems and tools that help to save time and drive more value for the company. This is not done by the carrot and stick method - but rather one of empowerment so that an individual enjoys a happier work environment and the financial rewards for the business are a by-product of positive business culture. TEAM PERSONAL GROWTH & ACHIEVEMENTS = COMPANY GROWTH Help staff achieve personal goals - technology enables advanced remote learning, time freed from work hours invested into development. Avril Henry - If individuals aligned with a business culture - then they are more likely to grow (Keynote last quarter) Example of a Sales Rep - using tech to capture all data onsite (note: voice to text for data capture) 80 / 20 RULE - The minority of work delivers 80% off the output - we can use AI and advanced technology to assist with the mundane. The future: how technology enablement enables human potential for your business At the core - Data is the new Gold for business, Put your customer in the centre! You need to aggregate everything into a central core of information. No matter what your industry the future of the world is moving more and more to a global economy. For you to leverage this opportunity you will need to be able to connect into multiple systems that will help take you to a larger audience Unique client information is another critical step when investing into innovation. As an example if you run a plumbing business and recorded all the houses with tree root problems for a period of time then you can do predictive sales calls on houses that are likely to require roots to be cleared out in the future. Secondly, you can also leverage this data in a Joint Venture with an Arborist to manage tree growth. Acquisitions historically are driven by the Net Profit multiple, but when you consider that the purchaser is looking for a future value return on investment the Data layer and access to a larger market becomes more of a priority and can increase the business valuation. Connecting to international markets = all data led. Ultimately I see a future where we are connected to a more global market that will help the redistribution of wealth in the world. Barriers to technology adoption Cash - businesses should be investing 20% of Net Profit into innovation Government programs (R&D, EMDG, EP Program etc…) More cash from efficient operations driven by innovation Skills shortage - another reason to leverage technology Unemployment rate currently at 5.2% - could drop towards 4% International talent Practical tips Setup a CRM - automate customer data capture, emails, texts, calls, onsite images, videos… (Really cost effective Core data repository) Schedule recurring tasksS to stay ontop of important dates (Birthdays) Go digital - change to paperless (use CRM data to populate forms & contracts, use digital signature) Build a Key Performance dashboard - customer insights, days to complete work Net Promoter Score: Internal & External - make this public (Google reviews) Efficient use of using technology & down time! (A good and bad side) The challenge is that we are fixed in a connected world with the average household now having over 18+ internet connected devices. This number is likely to grow. Impact of technology on sleep cycles Impact to kids - ipad, antisocial behavior Bottom line: we should technology to empower ourselves and others to our best potential but always remember to take time away to connect with family, friends and enjoy life. Alexi Extra questions: What do you see happening at government level to enable innovation, are businesses embracing the tools available? What are some of the other barriers to technology adoption? Outside What are some of the other priorities from small business?Where would you say technology adoption and innovation rank? To find out more go to their website: https://karroo.com.au/

What are the problems with half-assing it? That's the topic the guys tackle today. Because keto is so buzzy, a lot of people are jumping on the bandwagon. The only problem is they're just increasing their fat consumption without necessarily decreasing their carbs. This approach leads to the dangers of half-way keto. What is half-way keto and what does it look like? The better approach of using scale-outs to keep keto sustainable. The problems of more fat WITHOUT fewer carbs. We ALWAYS eat more than we think: the importance of tracking your macros. How carbs and glucose compete for the brain's attention. He's learning from the master! Chad's own self-experimentation. Feeding ourselves with fat is the genetic way to please our body and brain. Glycogen loves water storage! How exogenous ketones can exasperate the problems associated with half-way keto. Adjusting keto for your needs only works if you first know what you're eating. What it all comes down to is your body's constant balancing act and attempts to reach homeostasis. Doing the ketogenic nutrition plan in partial fashion can throw your body for some serious loops! If you want to see the guys in action, be sure to check out the behind-the-scenes look at https://youtu.be/bJnl0rXSRKw. In today’s episode, Nicholas talks with Yemeni Mesa about how you can transform your health as an entrepreneur while having more confidence and energy to do what you love. Yemeni has helped grow high-quality food companies, currently involved with Know Foods a Keto conscious company offering tasty healthy options. Timestamped Show Notes: [ 03:06 ] The Back Story [ 05:34 ] Health Journey [ 10:42 ] Passion Uniting with Business [ 16:10 ] Morning Routine [ 22:15 ] Ketogenics and Biohacking. [ 28:56 ] Biomes and Tests. [ 34: 33] Know Foods. [ 39:11 ] Mission. Takeaways: 3 Day Reset Fast: Water only, disposing of comforts and things that have become a crutch. Only keeping the necessary things that you need to survive. You can include meditation and journaling. Goal and Purpose: To reset your body, rest discipline, helps you become in tune and aware of the things that get in the way of your productivity throughout the day. By keeping your carbs low for too long you suppress insulin and other hormones that go into the fat burning process. An occasional glucose or insulin spike bring other hormones up with it helping in the fat burning process. The whole concept of cheat days can actually be beneficial if observed correctly. Resources: Billion Dollar Brotherhood Facebook Group. Know Foods.
Do you know what is perhaps the most underrated benefit of a ketogenic lifestyle? Sure, everyone knows it's a great way to lose weight and get healthy. But, in Chad's mind, the mental benefits are the real unsung hero. Today the guys discuss this life-changing effect of ketosis: enhanced cognitive ability (or just good ol' mental clarity). That's right, your brain loves those ketones! So look sharp and tune in to learn what ketosis can do for your mind. Brain energy is one of the first things most people notice on ketosis. Why does the brain love ketones? Eric breaks down what is really going on at the molecular level. Mito, Beta, and ATP (oh my!) How beta can curve the brain cravings. The correlation between higher beta levels and enhanced mental acuity. How depression is actually an inflammation issue. What can keto do for your mood? Ketogenics and the benefits to those suffering from mental illnesses. The importance of journaling your journey. When the guys talk about keto improving your overall lifestyle, they mean just that! Not only does keto help your body, but it also has a tremendous effect on your mind. More energy, clearer mind, better mood and just plain happier life. The best part? You can experience all of this for yourself! If you have any questions on this episode (or any questions in general) don't hesitate to reach out to us at bioteam@biofitcoaching.com. Today, Jimmy Moore joins me to discuss a Ketogenic Diet, Ketosis and Intermittent Fasting! Jimmy is best known for his http://www.livinlavidalowcarb.com (Livin' LaVida Low-Carb) blog and podcast. He is also the author of The Ketogenic Cookbook, https://www.amazon.com/Keto-Clarity-Jimmy-Moore/dp/1628600071/?_encoding=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&linkCode=ur2&tag=livilavidalow-20 ( Keto Clarity), Cholesterol Clarity and his new book The Complete Guide to Fasting. In 2004, at 32 years of age and 410 pounds, Jimmy made the decision to take off the weight that was literally killing him. The time had come for a radical lifestyle change. A year later, he had lost 180 pounds and shrunk his waistline by 20 inches. This phenomenal weight loss enabled him to come off prescription drugs for high cholesterol, high blood pressure and respiratory problems. What's the difference between a ketogenic diet and the average person's diet? “Most people walking around the Earth right now are sugar burners. I would probably guess that maybe 90-95% of the world's population is primarily burning sugar for fuel.” Even if you aren't eating sugary food, many foods break down into Glucose to provide energy to your body. There is another form of energy you can use for fuel, which is not sugar, called Ketones. So, a ketogenic diet is a high-fat, moderate protein and low-carb diet. It primarily works by lowering insulin levels, producing ketones and increasing fat burning. The first step to cut all sources of sugar from your diet: All carbohydrates Starchy foods, including some vegetables Over-consuming protein causes your body to convert excess protein to glucose To reach a ketogenic state, you need to eat quality fats like coconut oil, grass-fed butter, ghee (clarified butter), lard, whole-fat eggs, avocados, 100% olive oil, raw nuts or full-fat cheeses. You also need some protein, like nitrate-free, pastured bacon. “When you are nourishing your body well, you don't feel the need to eat according to the clock. You eat according to your satiety.” Another important element in Jimmy's lifestyle change was intermittent fasting, or regular periods of fasting for 12-24 hours. The health benefits of fasting include lowering insulin levels, lowering A1C levels and improving gut health. Jimmy explores all of his experience with fasting in The Complete Guide to Fasting.
