Hai fatto tutto bene — dieta, movimento, calze. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows!   This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track!   Check out today's questions:    Lisa: Hello Dr. Cabral, my 4 year old has Molluscum Contagiosum, I found an old podcast from 2017, episode 681, and wanted to know if you have any new updated information. They are mostly on her right side of her extremities. She had one for a while that would not heal for months. It was constantly red, inflammed and bleeding. I applied the recommended ACV and by the next day it was so much better. After about a week, its was gone. She still has the little "white head" pimples on her arm and leg. The protocol that was recommended then was for an 11 yr old and wanted to know if you suggest anything for her or have any new updated information. She does take a daily multi and a immune support that has echinacea and elderberry. Thank you for all your help in trying to keep the community healthy.        Bettina: Hello, Your knowledge has inspired me, thank you very much. I know someone who lost 25–30 kg with Wegovy and now feels and look great despite eating ultra-processed foods, drinking Pepsi Max and occasional energy drinks. I try to follow your health principles—daily smoothie with DNS, whole foods, supplements, and mainly water. Still, I've been diagnosed with lipedema (stage 1–2), have fluid retention in my legs, excess weight, and daily pain (knees, heel spur, and foot pain). At times, I feel tempted to try Wegovy and care less, as I seem to struggle more while having limited time and money for treatments and supplements. Why is there such a difference between people, and where should I start?       Sonny: Hi Dr. Cabral, thank you for all your help and education over the years. My name is Sonny, I'm an IHP Level 2 practitioner from the UK writing on behalf of my 68-year-old mum. For several years she has experienced chronic coughing whenever eating solid meals, but not with liquids or smoothies. She also gets reflux and coughing when lying flat at night or during Pilates exercises. From an IHP2 lens I suspected low stomach acid, so we trialled ACV before meals along with digestive enzymes and HCL + pepsin. For the first time in years she ate without coughing, which felt like a major breakthrough. However, lying flat still triggers symptoms, making me wonder about LPR or a hiatal hernia alongside hypochlorhydria. What would you suggest next please?       Tricia: Hi Dr. Cabral -- my question is about your advance collagen support. Is it hydrolyzed? I have a lot of issues with my tendons and do get hip bursitis. I also take a good day or two to recover when I do exercise. I can do back to back days and trust me I'm not lifting heavy anymore now that I'm in my 50's. I have spine issues as well. Would your collagen support be good for my tendons or it mostly for hair, skin and nails? It seems that I stay in PT and do exercise but I can't seem to get my muscle imbalances under control especially as I age. Always love your advice. You are amazing! Thank you!      Tricia: Hi - yes me again. This question is for my 65 year old sister. She was recently under a lot of stress at home with her child leaving the country to live and her husband diagnosed with cancer. The stress was hard on her. Now pills are getting stuck in her esophagus. She went to the dr and they did all the tests & procedures. All was ok. They did stretch her esophagus a bit. We believe she is in the early stage of acid reflux. We want to heal it before it gets worse. I told her to absolutely not take the purple pill! What would you recommend? She can't afford the tests right now (due to hubby) and since she can't swallow pills easily she is at a loss. Do you have any advice or guidance for someone who can't take pills? Can she do CBO Pro and open up pills?

You have been told it is just weight. Just diet. Just effort. For millions of women with lipedema, that is not just wrong. It is decades of unnecessary suffering. In this episode of Bendy Bodies, I sit down with Kasi Grosvenor and Jesse Cochrane from the Lipedema Foundation to pull back the curtain on one of the most misdiagnosed and misunderstood conditions in women's health. Kasi spent decades fainting, being dismissed, and searching for answers before finally finding clarity at the intersection of lipedema and hereditary alpha tryptasemia. Her story is not unusual. It is the norm for this patient population. Jesse brings the science. Lipedema is not obesity. It is not a lifestyle problem. It is a chronic medical condition involving disproportionate, painful, fibrotic adipose tissue that resists caloric restriction and exercise by design. Emerging research points to extracellular matrix dysfunction as a potential shared biological thread connecting lipedema to Ehlers-Danlos Syndromes (EDS), hypermobility, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). The overlap is not coincidental. It may be biological. We cover what clinicians and patients both need to understand: Why the absence of biomarkers has made diagnosis so difficult, and what the evolving definition of the disease actually means for patients seeking answers. Why lipedema tissue behaves differently from typical fat, and why standard weight loss advice not only fails but can cause harm. What conservative management actually looks like, including medical compression, pneumatic compression pumps, anti-inflammatory nutrition, and specialized manual therapies. The truth about lipedema removal surgery. This is not cosmetic liposuction. It is a medical intervention to remove diseased tissue, and its outcomes depend heavily on what comes before and after the procedure. If you have been dismissed, misdiagnosed, or told to try harder, this episode is for you. Takeaways: Lipedema is not obesity. The tissue is structurally and biologically different, and it does not respond to diet and exercise the way standard fat tissue does. Pain and tenderness in the affected tissue is a hallmark feature, not a coincidence. If you have EDS, HSD, POTS, or MCAS, lipedema may be part of your picture. The biological overlap is real and increasingly supported by research. A normal BMI does not rule out lipedema. Diagnosis is clinical, not based on weight. Lipedema removal surgery is a medical procedure. Calling it cosmetic liposuction misrepresents both the tissue and the intent. The absence of biomarkers does not mean the condition is not real. It means the research has not caught up yet. When you are trapped in a cycle of chronic illness and weight gain, it is easy to view your body as a failure that needs to be fixed. However, true transformation requires a shift from viewing symptoms as problems to seeing them as data. This episode explores the bridge between physical intervention like bariatric surgery and lipedema treatment and the foundational emotional work that allows those interventions to actually succeed. This week I sit down with Kylie Wolfig who shares her remarkable 35-year journey from being diagnosed with hypothyroidism at 21 to discovering she had lipedema, a painful inflammatory fat disease that cannot be dieted away. We discuss the heartbreak of being accused of cheating on diets and how learning a 60-second emotional Release Process® created the point of no return. By the end of this conversation, you will understand how to move from a state of hopelessness and searching for the one thing, to becoming a person who leads their own rescue through radical self-honesty and emotional mastery. Episode Highlights: Why thyroid levels can be normal on paper while the weight remains, and the specific markers of lipedema that differentiate it from standard obesity.Physical changes like weight loss or surgery require deep inner work to prevent the mind from remaining stuck in a 130kg version of yourself. The magic bullet isn't a pill, but rather clearing emotional stagnation allows the right practitioners, opportunities, and life-changing moves to manifest in your reality. I encourage you to stop blaming your willpower for a body that is simply trying to keep you safe through inflammation and protection. It's time to stop watching from the sidelines and start participating in your own rescue so you can finally step into the life you've been dreaming of. Most people think stubborn lower body fat is just genetics or lack of effort, but what if that explanation is actually incomplete?     On today's episode, we take a closer look at lipedema and why traditional weight loss strategies often fail completely in these cases.     We'll explore what lipedema actually is as a connective tissue and lymphatic-based disorder, why it primarily affects women, and how hormones like estrogen, chronic inflammation, and lymphatic dysfunction all play a role in how it develops and progresses.     You'll also learn why traditional "eat less, exercise more" approaches often fail, and what needs to shift instead when it comes to supporting lymph flow, reducing inflammation, and improving fascia and tissue health.     So join me on today's Cabral Concept 3750 to uncover what lipedema really is, why it's so often missed, and how you can reverse it. Think squashing your post-meal glucose spike is the healthy thing to do? What if that flat line on your CGM is actually telling your brain you didn't eat — and slowing your metabolism as a result? This week on Fat Science, Dr. Emily Cooper, Mark Wright, and Andrea Taylor open the mailbag to tackle listener questions from around the world — Australia, New Zealand, and across the U.S. They dig into hormone replacement therapy and metabolism, why your GLP-1 medication might be causing hair loss, what a normal blood sugar response actually looks like, and how lipedema differs from obesity. Dr. Cooper also revisits metabolic syndrome and why it's not outdated — just underutilized.Key TakeawaysHormone replacement therapy isn't a reliable tool for improving metabolism — it's better suited for symptom relief and bone health in specific situations.Progesterone, which must accompany estrogen if you still have your uterus, can actually disrupt metabolism in some women — acting almost like a steroid.A flat glucose line after eating isn't the goal — your brain needs to see glucose go up to register that you've been nourished and keep your metabolism running.Hair loss on GLP-1 medications is more likely tied to nutrient deficiencies (especially iron and protein) than the drugs themselves.Lipedema is a disease of the fat tissue itself — separate from obesity — and tirzepatide may help reduce the inflammatory symptoms even though it won't eliminate the fat deposits.Notable Quote"If your glucose is flat line, your brain's not very convinced that you ate much — and then you're not getting the metabolic benefit." — Dr. Emily CooperLinks & ResourcesPodcast Home: fatsciencepodcast.comCooper Center for Metabolism: coopermetabolic.comResources from Dr. Cooper: coopermetabolic.com/resourcesJoin Our Community: patreon.com/cw/FatSciencePodcastSubmit Your Question: questions@fatsciencepodcast.com or dr.c@fatsciencepodcast.comFat Science is supported by the Diabesity Institute, a nonprofit dedicated to increasing access to effective, science-based metabolic care.Disclaimer: This podcast is for informational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice. Lipedema is one of the most misunderstood conditions women face. It shows up as uneven fat in the lower body that doesn't respond to diet or exercise, often leading to frustration, pain, and a feeling of being dismissed by healthcare providers. Beyond the physical symptoms, the emotional toll is huge. Once treated, many women celebrate simple wins like finally zipping up a pair of boots.San Diego plastic surgeon Dr. Hector Salazar and massage therapist Linda-Anne Kahn explain what lipedema really is, how it differs from obesity, cellulite, and lymphedema, and why early diagnosis and treatment make such a difference. With over 40 years of experience working in integrative health, Linda-Anne shares how being diagnosed herself inspired her to help other women find relief through manual lymphatic drainage and holistic care. Dr. Salazar explains how he treats it surgically with liposuction, and how combining surgery with massage therapy, nutrition, and lifestyle changes can improve symptoms at every stage.Together, they break down what works, what doesn't, and why awareness of lipedema matters for patients, families, and providers alike.LinksIf you have lipedema and want to learn how we can help you get the answers and treatment you deserve, request a free consultation with Dr. SalazarMeet San Diego plastic surgeon Dr. Hector Salazar-ReyesLearn more about San Diego lymphatic drainage massage therapist Linda-Anne KahnCheck out the book Linda-Anne co-authored, Lymphedema and Lipedema Nutrition GuideLearn from the talented plastic surgeons inside La Jolla Cosmetic Surgery Centre, the 12x winner of the San Diego's Best Union-Tribune Readers Poll, global winner of the 2020 MyFaceMyBody Best Cosmetic/Plastic Surgery Practice, and the 2025 winner of Best Cosmetic Surgery Group in San Diego Magazine's Best of San Diego Awards.Join hostess Monique Ramsey as she takes you inside LJCSC, where dreams become real. Welcome back to our weekend Cabral HouseCall shows! This is where we answer our community's wellness, weight loss, and anti-aging questions to help people get back on track! Check out today's questions:    Yvonne: Just listened to a podcast in which the doctor was recommending taking a nicotine patch everyday - starting with 1mg for 7 days and then 3 mg everday after that - supposed to be good for a variety of things but he mainly takes it to avoid getting viruses. Your thoughts on this. NOTE: You many not want to read this next sentence.                                                                                                 Sheena: Hi Dr. C! Hope you and your team are well. I'm from Canada and went for recent bloodwork and my WBC is 3.8 (I think in US measurements it is 3800). All other markers for CBC are good). I don't have any symptoms of low WBC nor do I have an autoimmune disease. This is the third year in a row my WBC has been low. Should I be concerned? Is there something I can do to help increase it? Any tests I can run? Does this mean my body cant fight infections and/or (God forbid) I get cancer? Looking forward to hearing anything you can suggest or recommend. Thank you!                                                Tricia: Hello Dr. Cabral - Ever since I was a child, I would never just get a "cold". Those little colds would turn into bronchitis or whooping cough. I would be sick for two weeks from cold induced asthma. As I've gotten older, my asthma has gotten much better but what hasn't changed is when I get a cold, I always need prednisone for me to get better. I'm 55 year old female and have been hard working hard on my health and I don't want to continue this cycle with prednisone. I feel there is something wrong and this isn't normal. Can you give me your opinion and what you think I need to work on to try to avoid this from happening. I typically get sick once a year. Any advice is helpful! I am currently taking many of your supplements to achieve my wellness journey! Thank you so much!                                                                Sheena: Hi Dr. C! Hope you and your team are well. I'm a 45 yo female and have started taking creatine monohydrate because I heard all good things. I take it everyday, first thing in the morning, in my protein shake or in my coffee but I'm noticing loose stool. Is this normal? Am I taking too much (5gl)? Do I need to ease into it? Does it benefit women in perimenopause? Is it better to take before, during or after a workout? I've listened to all your podcasts that you discuss creatine but I'm still confused. Looking forward to hearing your suggestions and recommendations. Thx in advanced for your help!                                                                                                                                                                                       Bettina: Hi Dr. Cabral. In this episode of the Food Junkies Podcast, Dr. Vera Tarman speaks with Bonnie Newlin, registered dietitian nutritionist, Certified LEAP Therapist, founder of Crave Nourishment, and member of the Lipedema Education Group. Bonnie specializes in the nutritional management of lipedema and chronic inflammation. Lipedema is a progressive adipose and connective tissue disorder that primarily impacts women, often misdiagnosed as obesity. Bonnie shares her own story of living with lipedema—including a 170-pound weight loss, delayed diagnosis, and eventual lipidema reduction surgery—and how food addiction and weight cycling complicate early recognition of the condition. Together, Dr. Tarman and Bonnie explore: What lipedema is and how it differs from obesity and lymphedema Early signs, symptoms, and barriers to diagnosis The role of hormonal changes in progression Why ultra-processed foods and sodium worsen lipedema symptoms The connection between lipedema, food addiction, and binge/restrict cycles How anti-inflammatory nutrition and lifestyle strategies can reduce pain, swelling, and disease progression Emerging treatments, including compression therapy, lymphatic drainage, vibration therapy, and lipedema reduction surgery Myths about lipedema and why it's often misunderstood in medical settings Bonnie's vision for DNA-guided nutrition research to better serve this population This episode sheds light on a condition that may affect up to 11% of women yet remains underdiagnosed and misunderstood. If you or someone you know struggles with chronic swelling, painful fat, or unexplained weight changes—especially alongside food addiction—this conversation offers clarity, compassion, and hope.

Check out today's questions:    Lillian: Hello Dr. Cabral! Two questions: I was wondering if you know anything on Baja Gold sea salt. It is supposed to be naturally lower in sodium and have a high concentration of minerals and trace elements. In their third party testing Baja Gold tests below CODEX and Prop 65 requirements. 2) Himalayan or Real Salt (Utah) don't have iodine, how do you supplement? Thank you!                                                                                                                                                                     John: Hey doc .me and my family drinks a lot water ..we recently just purchased the aqu true that you recommend . I wanted to know if we should add minerals to to or since I do the dns and dfvb is that enough . Thanks                                             Kendall: Now that I'm learning about how important the detox protocols are for our health, I want to involve my kids as well. My kids are 11, 9 and 6. I'm wondering what advice you can give parents on using detoxes for children. For example when my littlest was 4 she had some symptoms that could fall under parasites. Are there product lines you would recommend that would be gentle enough for kids? I'm assuming the products you sell are more for adults. I would love to include the kids for annual detoxes.                                                                                                                                               Eleazar: Hello dr Cabral I have a question have u ever heard of long lived plasma cells and how they are a big reason autoimmune diseases are chronic since those cells live so long and they can continue to make autoantibodies as well and conventional doctors say since there's no way to eliminate them that's the reason autoimmune can't fully go away what's ur opinion on that?                                           Anonymous: Hi Dr Cabral! I'm convinced I have lipedema. I haven't been to the Dr to confirm yet. My torso, arms & legs all feel like I have grainy/pebbly texture beneath the skin. My knees have a weird “fat pad” on the side. I listened to another show where you mentioned lipedema, & I thought you said you have been able to help people reverse it. All of my research says it's incurable, but can manage it and calm swelling and pain, but the nodular fat will not go away without lipo. My questions are: are you familiar with any other scenario where texture I feel on myself as I described is normal? Or is that pebbly feeling always lipedema? Have you actually seen people get rid of the nodular lipedema fat & heal completely? Or just reduce swelling, pain & normal fat?Diet advice for this condition?
